OPEN HEAVENS 1 APRIL 2026 TODAY DEVOTIONAL
TOPIC: WORD OF POWER II
MEMORISE:
For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
Mark 11:23
READ: Mark 5:35-43
35 While he yet spake, there came from the ruler of the synagogue’s house certain which said, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Master any further?
36 As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe.
37 And he suffered no man to follow him, save Peter, and James, and John the brother of James.
38 And he cometh to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and seeth the tumult, and them that wept and wailed greatly.
39 And when he was come in, he saith unto them, Why make ye this ado, and weep? the damsel is not dead, but sleepeth.
40 And they laughed him to scorn. But when he had put them all out, he taketh the father and the mother of the damsel, and them that were with him, and entereth in where the damsel was lying.
41 And he took the damsel by the hand, and said unto her, Talitha cumi; which is, being interpreted, Damsel, I say unto thee, arise.
42 And straightway the damsel arose, and walked; for she was of the age of twelve years. And they were astonished with a great astonishment.
43 And he charged them straitly that no man should know it; and commanded that something should be given her to eat.
RCCG OPEN HEAVENS 1 APRIL 2026 TODAY MESSAGE
Many years ago, I was visiting one of our parishes abroad, and when I landed at the airport, one of the pastors who usually came to welcome me anytime I visited the country was not there.
When I asked about him, I was told that he was dying in a hospital. I asked if we could stop at the hospital on our way from the airport, and I was taken there immediately. In that hospital, they had a special room where people with ‘hopeless’ cases were kept.
Once a patient was moved to that room, it meant that the fellow would likely not survive whatever ailment he or she had, and this was where the pastor was kept. He had cancer, and the doctors’ reports were not good at all. I prayed for him and commanded the spirit of death to take its hands off him. I didn’t pray for the other patients in the room because, in that country, you can be arrested for praying for a sick person when the fellow has not given his or her consent.
After praying for the pastor, I left the hospital immediately. About three days later, he was completely healed and was discharged. It wasn’t my doing; rather, it was God who backed up my word with so much power.
I learnt later that on the day he was discharged, every other person in the room was discharged as well. Imagine what could have happened if I had heard the sad report concerning him and just sympathised with him instead of declaring the word of God over him.
Child of God, you might not know the great miracles you are hindering if you refuse to speak God’s word to unfavourable situations. You must realise that you are not ordinary and your words carry power because you are a child of God. When you encounter a mountain in the way of your progress, speak to it in the name of Jesus, and it will obey you (Mark 11:23).
Revelation 1:6 says that you are a king, and Ecclesiastes 8:4 says that where the word of a king is, there is power. This means that whenever you speak, power shows up. Doubt is one of the major things that can stop power from showing up when you speak. Beloved, don’t keep quiet in the face of negative situations; speak God’s word over them in faith, and they will turn around completely for good, in Jesus’ name.
KEY POINT:
When children of God speak God’s word in faith, God’s power shows up on the scene.

RCCG OPEN HEAVENS 1 APRIL 2026 TODAY COMMENTARY
MEMORISE: Mark 11:23
“For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.”
This verse establishes the law of faith: your words have creative power when spoken without doubt.
BIBLE READING: Mark 5:35-43
Jairus receives news that his daughter is dead, but Jesus ignores the negative report, speaks life, and raises her.
The Power of Your Royal Decree
In today’s devotional, Pastor E.A. Adeboye (Daddy Adeboye) shares a powerful testimony to teach us one of the most important lessons in the Christian faith: Your words matter. As a child of God, you are not ordinary, and keeping silent in the face of trouble can actually hinder the miracles God wants to perform.
You Are Not Ordinary
The story begins with a tragic report: a pastor was dying of cancer in a hospital, placed in a “hopeless cases” room. The natural response would be to weep, sympathize, and prepare for the worst. But Daddy Adeboye understood a spiritual principle. He didn’t just feel sorry for the man; he opened his mouth and spoke.
He commanded the spirit of death to leave. He used the authority given to him in Christ. The result? Not only was the pastor healed three days later, but every other patient in that room was also discharged! This shows us that one person operating in faith can shift the atmosphere for everyone around them.
Why Your Words Carry Weight
The devotional anchors this truth in two key scriptures:
- You are a King (Revelation 1:6): In the natural realm, when a king speaks, things happen. Laws are passed, armies move, and nations shift. In the spiritual realm, you are royalty. Ecclesiastes 8:4 confirms this: “Where the word of a king is, there is power.” Therefore, when you, as a royal priest, speak God’s word, power is released to back it up.
- The Law of Faith (Mark 11:23): Jesus didn’t say “if you pray about the mountain.” He said “if you say to the mountain.” There is a point where prayer transitions into declaration. You must open your mouth and address the problem directly.
The Danger of Silence
One of the most challenging statements in the devotional is this: “You might not know the great miracles you are hindering if you refuse to speak God’s word.”
When you look at a financial crisis, a sickness, or a family problem and say nothing, you are allowing the “mountain” to stay put. Silence in the face of the enemy’s report is passive agreement with defeat. Instead, like Jesus in the Bible reading (Mark 5), we must ignore the negative news (“she is dead”) and speak the word of life (“she is sleeping”).
The One Condition: No Doubt
However, there is a condition for seeing results: you must not doubt in your heart. Doubt is the cancel button for your faith. You can say all the right words, but if your heart is filled with fear and unbelief, your words will be empty.
To speak without doubt, you must:
- Be sure of your relationship with God: Know that you are His child.
- Be sure of His will: Know that God’s will is always healing, deliverance, and breakthrough (3 John 1:2).
- Be filled with His Word: The more you know God’s promises, the more faith will rise in your heart to speak them out.
How to Practically Speak to Your Mountain
Here are simple steps to apply this message today:
- Identify the “Mountain”: What situation is currently standing in your way? It could be a sickness, a financial lack, a difficult person, or a bad habit.
- Find the “Word”: Search the Bible for what God says about that situation. For sickness, find healing scriptures (like Isaiah 53:5, 1 Peter 2:24). For lack, find provision scriptures (like Philippians 4:19).
- Pray about the Issue: Pray to God until your faith builds up. Mark 11:24
- Make the Declaration: Speak it out loud, in the name of Jesus. For example: “Sickness, I speak to you in Jesus’ name. By His stripes, I am healed. You have no right to stay in my body.” Important: Beyond speaking what is written in the Bible verbatim, let the Holy Spirit guide your utterance when speaking to your mountain.
- Refuse to be Moved by Reports: When the doctor’s report or your bank account looks bad, keep speaking God’s word. Faith is stubborn.
Conclusion: Speak and See the Salvation of God
You carry the answer to your problem in your mouth. God is waiting for you to open your mouth and make a royal decree based on His word. Don’t sympathize with your situation; confront it. Don’t describe the problem; declare the solution.
Pray this:
“Father, I thank You that I am not ordinary. You have made me a king and a priest. Forgive me for the times I have kept quiet in the face of the enemy. Today, I receive boldness. I speak to every mountain in my life—sickness, debt, and confusion—and I command you to be removed in the mighty name of Jesus. I will not doubt, for Your word is true. Amen.”
Action Steps:
- Write down three negative situations you are currently facing.
- Find one scripture that promises victory over each situation.
- Speak those scriptures aloud over your life every morning for the next seven days. Watch what God will do.
