OPEN HEAVEN 15 FEBRUARY 2026 DEVOTIONAL TODAY

TOPIC: ALL THINGS TO ALL MEN

MEMORISE:
To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.
1 Corinthians 9:22

READ: 1 Corinthians 9:19-23:
19 For though I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more.
20 And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law;
21 To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law.
22 To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.
23 And this I do for the gospel’s sake, that I might be partaker thereof with you.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 15 FEBRUARY 2026 MESSAGE TODAY

I once went to a church to preach and was told that I couldn’t enter the auditorium with my shoes on because it was against their doctrine. I asked if there was anything else they wanted me to remove and said that I would gladly remove it. As long as I was given the opportunity to preach the gospel and win souls, nothing was too much for me to let go of.

The pastor of the church, who is now a pastor in RCCG, was amazed.

Soul winning matters a lot to God, and it is important that you go all out to win souls. By going all out, I mean going all out in line with God’s word.

Unfortunately, some Christians think that engaging in sinful acts with unbelievers is a way to win souls to Christ; this is a lie from the pit of hell. You cannot walk along the path of sin under the guise of preaching the gospel and expect God to accept what you have done. You must do things God’s way.

When Paul stated that he became all things to all men that he might save them, he meant that he sacrificed his comfort and many other things to reach out to different kinds of people. He was willing to let go of his status, influence, and comfort to tell others about Jesus.

In 2 Corinthians 11:23-33, he shared some of the things he sacrificed and suffered for the sake of the gospel. He was beaten with rods in some cities, shipwrecked on different occasions, and stoned in other places. His ultimate goal was to bring men into God’s kingdom, and he was willing to do anything, so long as it wouldn’t be a sin, to achieve this.

These days, some so-called evangelists dress, speak, and act like unbelievers, claiming that it is because they want to convert them. However, when you dig deeper, you will realise they are the ones who have been converted. When a light bulb is covered with dirt and cobwebs, it will no longer be bright. Likewise, sin hinders a believer’s witness for Christ and makes him or her an ineffective soul winner.

Beloved, God has given you a mandate to win souls, and you must sacrifice comfort and many other things to fulfil this mandate. However, your obedience to God’s word is not one of the things you should sacrifice. I pray that God’s grace will help you become an effective soul winner, in Jesus’

name.

KEY POINT:

Like Paul, you can be all things to all men to win souls, but don’t engage in sin to do so.

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 15 FEBRUARY 2026 COMMENTARY

MEMORISE: 1 Corinthians 9:22
“To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.”
This verse captures the heart of apostolic soul-winning: radical, self-emptying flexibility for the sake of the gospel. It is not about compromising truth, but about surrendering personal rights, preferences, and comforts to remove every unnecessary barrier between the sinner and the Saviour. The goal is singular: “that I might by all means save some.”

BIBLE READING: 1 Corinthians 9:19-23
This passage is Paul’s manifesto on missional living. He voluntarily relinquished his legitimate rights and freedoms (v.15, v.18) and adapted his approach to different cultures (Jews, those under the law, those without law) to win them. However, he clarifies this adaptation is done “not being without law to God but under law toward Christ” (v.21). His flexibility had a non-negotiable boundary: obedience to God’s law. The core principle is sacrificial identification without sinful imitation.

The Soul-Winner’s Heart: Sacrificing Preference for Purpose

Daddy Adeboye’s personal testimony with the shoes is a perfect illustration of 1 Corinthians 9:22 in action. Faced with a doctrinal requirement that was a matter of custom, not sin, his response was immediate and humble: “I would gladly remove it.” His calculation was simple: the opportunity to preach the gospel outweighed any personal convenience or pride. His question, “Is there anything else…?” reveals a heart willing to go to extreme lengths of self-denial for a single soul. This is “going all out”—a willingness to sacrifice everything except the core message and morality of the gospel.

The Critical Boundary: Flexibility is Not Compromise

The devotional immediately draws a vital, non-negotiable line. “Going all out” is defined as being “in line with God’s word.” It warns against a damning deception: the idea that one can engage in sin to “reach” sinners.

  • The Deceptive Path: Some think they must participate in worldly behaviors (immoral dress, ungodly speech, sinful entertainment) to be “relevant.” Daddy Adeboye labels this “a lie from the pit of hell.”
  • The Principle: “You cannot walk along the path of sin under the guise of preaching the gospel.”God will not bless a method that violates His nature. The end (soul-winning) does not justify ungodly means.
  • The Result of Compromise: When a believer becomes indistinguishable from the world in conduct, they are not converting the world; “they are the ones who have been converted”—conformed to the world (Romans 12:2). Like a “light bulb covered with dirt,” their testimony is dimmed and ineffective.

The Apostle Paul’s Model: Suffering, Not Sinning

Paul is presented as the true model. His “becoming all things” meant sacrificing comfort, status, and safety, not holiness. The catalog of sufferings from 2 Corinthians 11 proves his “all” meant enduring persecution, not practicing sin. His flexibility was in his approach; his fidelity was to Christ. His ultimate goal—“to bring men into God’s kingdom”—was pursued with a “willingness to do anything, so long as it wouldn’t be a sin.” This is the guiding rule.

The Mandate and Its Cost

The conclusion brings the mandate home: “God has given you a mandate to win souls, and you must sacrifice comfort and many other things to fulfil this mandate.” The cost is real and personal. It may mean:

  • Sacrificing time, money, and leisure.
  • Laying down cultural preferences or personal pride (like removing shoes).
  • Enduring inconvenience, rejection, or even hardship.

However, amidst all we are called to sacrifice, there is one thing we must never offer up: “your obedience to God’s word is not one of the things you should sacrifice.” Our holiness is not a bargaining chip; it is our essential credential as Christ’s ambassadors.

How to Be an Effective, Biblical Soul-Winner

  1. Cultivate a Heart of Radical Sacrifice: Pray for a love for souls that outweighs your love for comfort. Be prepared to let go of non-essential preferences.
  2. Know the Non-Negotiables: Be deeply rooted in God’s Word so you can clearly distinguish between a cultural preference you can set aside (e.g., style of dress for a context) and a biblical command you must keep (e.g., modesty, purity of speech).
  3. Emulate Paul’s Suffering, Not the World’s Style: Expect and accept hardship, ridicule, and rejection as part of the cost. Do not seek to avoid these by blending into sinful environments.
  4. Keep Your Light Clean: Constantly examine your life. Is there any “dirt” or “cobweb” of sin dimming your testimony? Repent and stay clean to shine brightly (Matthew 5:16).
  5. Pray for Missional Wisdom and Grace: Ask God, as the prayer concludes, for the grace to be effective—to have the wisdom to adapt rightly and the courage to never cross His line, all fueled by a genuine love for the lost.

Prayer for an Effective, Uncompromising Witness:
“Lord Jesus, You sacrificed all for me. Fill me with that same sacrificial love for the lost. Give me the grace to ‘become all things’—to willingly lay aside my comforts, my pride, and my rights to win souls. But Lord, guard my heart. Let me never sacrifice my obedience to Your Word on the altar of relevance. Keep my life clean and my light bright. As I go out, let me carry the cross of sacrifice, not the compromise of the world. Make me an effective soul-winner, who by all means—means that honor You—might save some, for Your glory alone. In Your name I pray, Amen.”
