TOPIC: WHAT IS MAN? V

MEMORISE:
But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.
Luke 12:7

READ: Matthew 7:9-11
9 Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?
10 Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?
11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

RCCG OPEN HEAVENS 15 JANUARY 2026 TODAY MESSAGE

What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?
Psalm 8:4

The psalmist had to ask the question in the passage above. His love is immeasurable and everlasting (Jeremiah 31:3). He loves us so much that when Adam fell in the garden of Eden, He put together a redemption plan for us so we could be restored to Him.

He also gave us the right to sit with Him because of His tremendous love for us. Ephesians 2:6 says that God has made us sit together with Christ in heavenly places.

In Yorubaland where I come from, we often say that the house of the fellow you love is never too far. Because of God’s overwhelming love for us, He came all the way from heaven to save us. He loves us so much that even the strands of hair on our heads are special to Him.

Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.
Matthew 10:29-31

Whenever I hear Christians say that they doubt in their hearts whether God will answer their prayers or not, I wonder if they truly know how much God loves them.

Romans 8:32 says:
He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

If someone loves you so much that he or she gave you his or her only child, what else is so big that the fellow cannot give to you? I want you to know how much God loves and values you so that when you go to Him in prayer, you will know that you are speaking to someone who is willing to give you anything you ask for and who wants only the best for you (John 14:13-14).

Beloved, God loves you more than you can ever imagine, and it grieves Him when you don’t even realise how special you are to Him. Spend quality time with Him daily so you can learn more about His love for you and know the many wonderful things He has prepared for you.

KEY POINT

God’s love for you is immeasurable and everlasting.

OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL 15 JANUARY 2026 COMMENTARY

MEMORISE: Luke 12:7
“But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.”
This statement by Jesus reveals the meticulous, intimate, and immeasurable value God places on each individual. It moves His care from the general (providing for creation) to the profoundly personal (numbering your hairs). If He attends to such minute detail, His commitment to your greater needs is beyond question.

BIBLE READING: Matthew 7:9-11
This passage uses the analogy of human fatherhood—imperfect as it is—to establish the foundational nature of God’s heart. If flawed fathers know how to give good gifts, how much more will our perfect Heavenly Father give good things to those who ask Him? His giving is rooted in His perfect love and wisdom.

The Foundation of All Prayer: Knowing You Are Loved

Daddy Adeboye brings us to the bedrock of our faith and the engine of effective prayer: a deep, personal revelation of God’s love for us. He dismantles the root of prayerful doubt—a failure to comprehend the magnitude of divine love—by presenting overwhelming biblical evidence of our priceless value to God.

1. The Redemptive Love That Planned Our Rescue

Love Initiated, Not Earned:
God’s love is not a response to our worthiness; it is the cause of our worth. Before we could seek Him, He devised a redemption plan. The Fall did not catch Him by surprise; it activated His predetermined mission of love in Christ. This means His love for you is proactive, strategic, and covenantal.

Love That Elevates:
Ephesians 2:6 reveals the staggering outcome of this love: we are made to sit together with Christ. This is not just forgiveness; it is adoption and enthronement. Love brought you from the pigsty to the palace, from estrangement to shared authority. You are not a distant subject; you are a seated child.

2. The Intimate Love That Numbers Your Hairs

From the Cosmic to the Capillary:
The same God who measures the heavens with His span (Isaiah 40:12) counts the hairs on your head. His love is both infinitely grand and intimately detailed. There is no aspect of your life—your health, your finances, your relationships, your daily needs—that is beneath His notice or beyond His care. His knowledge of you is total, and His care is comprehensive.

The Value Equation: You Are Worth More:
The sparrow analogy (Matthew 10:29-31) establishes a divine principle of comparative value. If God attends to the life and death of a creature of negligible market value, then you, for whom Christ died, are of incalculable worth. Your value is set by the price paid: the life of God’s only Son.

3. The Generous Love That Guarishes Good Gifts

The Logic of Heaven’s Gift Shop:
Romans 8:32 presents irrefutable divine logic. The “greater to the lesser” argument is powerful: If God gave His greatest treasure (Jesus) for you, then He will surely, freely, give all lesser treasures that align with His will and your good. There is no reservation in His generosity. The cross is the definitive proof that God is for you.

Prayer from a Position of Loved Assurance:
Doubt in prayer often stems from seeing God as distant, reluctant, or indifferent. Daddy Adeboye reframes prayer: it is not begging a reluctant stranger; it is asking a loving Father who is predisposed to give you “good things” (Matthew 7:11). Knowing this love transforms your prayer from fearful pleading to confident communion.

How to Root Yourself in This Love

Meditate on the Proofs:
Spend time deliberately reflecting on Romans 8:32 and Luke 12:7. Ask the Holy Spirit to make the reality of this love sink from your head to your heart. Your faith will grow not by trying harder, but by seeing His love more clearly.

Pray from the “Seated” Position:
When you pray, remind yourself: “I am coming to my Father who loves me, who has already given me His best. I am seated with Christ, so I ask from a place of belonging, not begging.” Let this identity shape the tone and expectation of your prayers.

Replace the Narrative of Doubt:
When the thought “I doubt God will answer” arises, combat it with the declaration: “My Father loves me so much He gave Jesus for me. He will surely give me this good thing I need according to His will.”

Warning: Ignorance of Love Breeds Spiritual Orphanhood

To live unaware of this love is to live like a spiritual orphan—insecure, fearful, and striving. It turns prayer into a performance and God into a taskmaster. The greatest barrier to receiving from God is not His willingness to give, but our failure to understand His heart as a Giver.

Conclusion: Pray to Be Rooted and Grounded in Love

Pray this:
“Heavenly Father, overwhelm my heart with the revelation of Your love for me. Help me to truly grasp that I am so valuable to You that You numbered my hairs and gave Your Son for me. Uproot every seed of doubt planted by ignorance of Your love. Let this certainty become the unshakable foundation of my prayers and my life. I receive now, by faith, the assurance that I am fully known, fully loved, and fully cared for by You, in Jesus’ name.”

Action Steps:

  1. The Love Audit: Write down the three biggest worries or needs in your life. Next to each, write: “My Father who gave me Jesus will freely give me what I need regarding this.”
  2. Daily Affirmation: Each morning, look in the mirror and declare: “God knows the number of hairs on my head. I am deeply loved and of infinite value to Him.”
  3. Study the “Love Chapter” in Context: Read and meditate on Romans 8:28-39 this week. It is the ultimate treatise on God’s unshakable love.
  4. Pray with a New Template: For one week, begin every prayer with thanksgiving for a specific evidence of God’s love in your life (e.g., salvation, a provision, a protection). Let thanksgiving for His past love fuel faith for your present request.

Remember: Your prayer life will only ever be as strong as your conviction of God’s love for you. You are not a nuisance; you are the focus of His affection.
“The very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore…” (Luke 12:7). You are known. You are loved.
