OPEN HEAVEN 17 FEBRUARY 2025 DEVOTIONAL TODAY
TOPIC: JEHOVAH SHAMMAH
MEMORISE:
Thave set the Lord always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.
Psalm 16:8
READ: Genesis 28:10-22
10 And Jacob went out from Beersheba, and went toward Haran.
11 And he lighted upon a certain place, and tarried there all night, because the sun was set; and he took of the stones of that place, and put them for his pillows, and lay down in that place to sleep.
12 And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it.
13 And, behold, the Lord stood above it, and said, I am the Lord God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac: the land whereon thou liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed;
14 And thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and thou shalt spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south: and in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed.
15 And, behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee in all places whither thou goest, and will bring thee again into this land; for I will not leave thee, until I have done that which I have spoken to thee of.
16 And Jacob awaked out of his sleep, and he said, Surely the Lord is in this place; and I knew it not.
17 And he was afraid, and said, How dreadful is this place! this is none other but the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.
18 And Jacob rose up early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put for his pillows, and set it up for a pillar, and poured oil upon the top of it.
19 And he called the name of that place Bethel: but the name of that city was called Luz at the first.
20 And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and raiment to put on,
21 So that I come again to my father’s house in peace; then shall the Lordbe my God:
22 And this stone, which I have set for a pillar, shall be God’s house: and of all that thou shalt give me I will surely give the tenth unto thee.
RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 17 FEBRUARY 2025 MESSAGE TODAY
It was round about eighteen thousand measures: and the name of the city from that day shall be, The LORD is there. Ezekiel 48:35
Whether you believe it or not, whether you feel Him or not, the Lord is always with you. The three Hebrew boys seemed to be alone when they confronted the king, but when they got into the fiery furnace, it became clear to everyone that Jesus was there with them (Daniel 3:8-30).
When God is with you, nothing can stand in your way. There’s a story I love to tell about three little but distinct fishes that were being terrorised by a mother shark and her baby in the ocean. One day, they called a prayer meeting and invited the Lord to come. When the Lord came, He asked them what the problem was and what they wanted. The first fish said, “I want to have eyes all over my body so l will be able to see the sharks when they are approaching from any angle.” The second fish said, “Lord, give me powerful wings so I can fly out of the ocean when the sharks are pursuing me.” The Lord granted the two fishes their requests, and when He turned to the last fish to ask what it wanted, it said, “All I want is for you to be with me everywhere I go.”
When the Lord left, the sharks came again, and the fish with many eyes was their first target as it looked beautiful because it had eyes all over its body. The fish saw them coming and swam towards a beach. It saw a pool of water on the beach and jumped into it. Unfortunately, when the sun rose, the pool dried up, and the fish died. When the sharks went after the fish with wings, it flew out of the water, but an eagle that was flying by quickly grabbed and ate it. The third fish remained safe because whenever the mother shark and her baby approached it, they always saw the shadow of a man following it, and this scared them off. The fish that asked for God’s presence survived and thrived in the midst of danger.
Beloved, God’s presence is your only guarantee against the terrors of life. He alone can keep you safe. Jehovah Shammah means ‘the Lord is there’, and when God is there with you in your office, business, family, or any other area of your life, nothing evil done against you will prosper
PRAYER POINT:
Thank You, Lord, for Your ever-abiding presence in my life.
