OPEN HEAVEN 17 SEPTEMBER 2025 TODAY DEVOTIONAL

TOPIC: GOD CAN MAKE YOU A SOLUTION

MEMORISE:

Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee.
Isaiah 60:1

READ: 1 Kings 17:17-24:

17 And it came to pass after these things, that the son of the woman, the mistress of the house, fell sick; and his sickness was so sore, that there was no breath left in him.
18 And she said unto Elijah, What have I to do with thee, O thou man of God? art thou come unto me to call my sin to remembrance, and to slay my son?
19 And he said unto her, Give me thy son. And he took him out of her bosom, and carried him up into a loft, where he abode, and laid him upon his own bed.
20 And he cried unto the Lord, and said, O Lord my God, hast thou also brought evil upon the widow with whom I sojourn, by slaying her son?

21 And he stretched himself upon the child three times, and cried unto the Lord, and said, O Lord my God, I pray thee, let this child’s soul come into him again.
22 And the Lord heard the voice of Elijah; and the soul of the child came into him again, and he revived.
23 And Elijah took the child, and brought him down out of the chamber into the house, and delivered him unto his mother: and Elijah said, See, thy son liveth.
24 And the woman said to Elijah, Now by this I know that thou art a man of God, and that the word of the Lord in thy mouth is truth.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 17 SEPTEMBER 2025 TODAY MESSAGE

Every day, people see problems that they wish they could do something about. What if God could use you to bring a solution to every problem you encounter or make you the solution to that lingering issue in your family?

If something terrible happens in your neighbourhood, can you say a simple prayer that will effect a change such that the people who were in sorrow will start rejoicing?

When the widow of one of the sons of the prophets came to Elisha because of her debt problem, she didn’t return home the same. Elisha opened her eyes to see that the solution she desperately needed was in her house. He showed her the secret to getting out of debt and living a financially independent life (2 Kings 4:1-7).

Sometimes, becoming the solution to another person’s problem is not by giving them money but by opening their eyes to see what they have never paid attention to, empowering them with the correct knowledge and information to live a bondage-free life.

Jesus said, “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32). Jesus is the way, the TRUTH, and the life (John 14:6). Hence, the ultimate way to help people with problems is to introduce Him to them.

In today’s Bible reading, when the son of the widow died, she didn’t turn to the king for help.

Instead, she turned to Elijah, and God used him to raise her dead son. If such a thing happened around you, do you have the capacity for God to provide such a solution through you? You may say, “Oh, I am not a prophet like Elijah.” However, there is no record in the Scriptures that only ordained ministers of God can perform miracles.

Mark 16:17-18 says, “And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.”

Jesus is the ultimate solution to every problem, and He has given those who believe in Him the authority to perform signs and wonders in His name. To do this, however, you must exercise your spirit more than your flesh.

Beloved, be the kind of believer who studies the Bible and prays regularly. When you are such, then God will make you a solution to the problems of many people around you.

PRAYER POINT

When you fellowship with Jesus – the Ultimate Solution – He will make you a solution to problems around you.

HYMN 59: I WANT TO BE LIKE JESUS

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 17 SEPTEMBER 2025 COMMENTARY

MEMORISE: Isaiah 60:1 (KJV)
“Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee.”
This is a prophetic command to move from a state of passivity or obscurity into a place of radiant influence. The “light” is not self-generated; it is the manifested presence and glory of God upon a life. This light is given not for personal enjoyment alone, but to illuminate darkness and provide guidance and solutions to those in need.

BIBLE READING: 1 Kings 17:17-24 (KJV)
This passage continues the story of the widow of Zarephath. After experiencing miraculous provision, she faces an even greater crisis: the death of her son. In her despair, she turns to Elijah, not to a local king or physician. Elijah, in turn, takes her problem to God in passionate intercession. The result is a dramatic resurrection miracle. This narrative shows that the God who provides is also the God who resurrects, and He uses people as vessels to bring His life-giving solutions into impossible situations.

The Call to Be a Solution

Daddy Adeboye builds on the previous day’s message, moving from the concept of being a solution-provider to actually becoming the solution itself. This is a deeper level of spiritual authority where God’s power flows through a person to directly alter circumstances. The devotional poses a provocative question: “What if God could use you to bring a solution to every problem you encounter?” This reframes the believer’s identity from a passive observer to an active, empowered agent of change.

Beyond Financial Aid: The Ministry of Revelation

The account of the widow and Elisha (2 Kings 4:1-7) is used to illustrate that the most powerful solutions are often not handouts, but revelations. Elisha didn’t give her money; he gave her insight. He opened her eyes to see the potential in the “pot of oil” she already possessed but had overlooked. This teaches a vital principle: Many are stuck because they are blind to the resources God has already placed in their hands. The role of a solution-bearer is often to pray for and speak revelation that unlocks these hidden resources—be it a skill, an idea, a forgotten asset, or a spiritual gift.

The Ultimate Solution: Introducing Jesus

The devotional correctly identifies that all problems are, at their root, spiritual. Therefore, the ultimate and most comprehensive solution is a person: Jesus Christ, the Truth who sets free (John 8:32). Introducing someone to a relationship with Him is the greatest problem-solving act one can ever perform, as it addresses eternal destiny and provides internal resources (the Holy Spirit) to navigate earthly challenges.

The Authority of Every Believer

A crucial point of interpretation is the dismantling of the clergy-laity divide in performing miracles. Daddy Adeboye emphasizes that “there is no record in the Scriptures that only ordained ministers of God can perform miracles.” He cites Mark 16:17-18 to establish that signs, wonders, and miraculous solutions are meant to “follow them that believe.” This is a call for every Christian to step into the authority delegated to them by Jesus. The capacity to be used by God in miraculous ways is not based on title but on belief, faith, and a life of communion with Him.

The Condition for Channeling Solutions

The key to operating in this dimension is clearly stated: “you must exercise your spirit more than your flesh.” This means:

  • Prioritizing Spiritual Disciplines: A consistent life of Bible study and prayer is non-negotiable. This is how our spirit man is strengthened and sensitized to God’s voice and power.
  • Living a Sanctified Life: To be a clean vessel through which God’s pure power can flow, we must submit to the Holy Spirit’s work of purifying our motives and actions.
  • Walking in Faith: Believing that the same power that raised Christ from the dead lives in us and is available to meet the needs of others (Romans 8:11).

Pray this:
“Heavenly Father, I arise today in the light of Your glory. Forgive me for overlooking the problems around me or feeling ill-equipped to help. I ask that You would use me as a solution-bearer. Open my eyes to see the hidden potential in others and in situations. Most importantly, let my life point people to Jesus, the ultimate Solution. Holy Spirit, strengthen my spirit through prayer and Your Word. Grant me the faith and boldness to lay hands on the sick, to speak freedom to the bound, and to be a channel of Your miraculous power in my family, neighborhood, and world. Make me a answer to prayer for someone today. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.”

Action Steps:

  1. Shift Your Prayer: When you see a problem, stop and pray, “Lord, how can You use me to be the solution here?” Listen for His guidance.
  2. Look for the ‘Pot of Oil’: When someone comes to you with a need, don’t just see what they lack. Ask the Holy Spirit to show you what resource, skill, or truth they already possess that could be the key to their breakthrough.
  3. Step Out in Authority: Believe Mark 16:17-18. The next time you encounter sickness, offer to pray in Jesus’ name. Step out in faith to speak a word of encouragement or wisdom that could change a situation.
  4. Strengthen Your Spirit: Commit to a specific plan to “exercise your spirit” this week—add 15 minutes of prayer, join a Bible study, or fast one meal to focus on God.

Remember: You are not called to just observe the famine; you are anointed to be a baker like the widow of Zarephath. You are not called to just mourn the dead; you are called to intercede like Elijah. God has deposited His light and life within you. Arise, shine, and let His solutions flow through you to a world in desperate need.
