OPEN HEAVEN 20 APRIL 2025 TODAY DEVOTIONAL
TOPIC: THE VEIL IS TORN
MEMORISE
And the sun was darkened. and the veil ot the temple was rent in the midst
Luke 23:45
READ: Mark 15:25-39
25 And it was the third hour, and they crucified him.
26 And the superscription of his accusation was written over, The King Of The Jews.
27 And with him they crucify two thieves; the one on his right hand, and the other on his left.
28 And the scripture was fulfilled, which saith, And he was numbered with the transgressors.
29 And they that passed by railed on him, wagging their heads, and saying, Ah, thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days,
30 Save thyself, and come down from the cross.
31 Likewise also the chief priests mocking said among themselves with the scribes, He saved others; himself he cannot save.
32 Let Christ the King of Israel descend now from the cross, that we may see and believe. And they that were crucified with him reviled him.
33 And when the sixth hour was come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour.
34 And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
35 And some of them that stood by, when they heard it, said, Behold, he calleth Elias.
36 And one ran and filled a spunge full of vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink, saying, Let alone; let us see whether Elias will come to take him down.
37 And Jesus cried with a loud voice, and gave up the ghost.
38 And the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom.
39 And when the centurion, which stood over against him, saw that he so cried out, and gave up the ghost, he said, Truly this man was the Son of God.
RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 20 APRIL 2025 TODAY MESSAGE
When Jesus died on the cross. the veil that separated us from God was torn. Matthew 27:5 says that when He died, the veil separating the Holy of Holies from everybody except the High Priest was torn from top to bottom. God himselt took the curtain separating us from Him and tore it.
Ephesians 2:12-16 says that the wall between us and God was broken by the blood of Jesus. His sacrifice meant that we could now come in contact with God; His death opened up a new era for humanity.
Now, everyone has full access to God through Jesus Christ. It is because of Jesus that I can call God “Daddy” It is because of Him that everyone anywhere regardless or their skin colour or social status can experience God’s presence.
Jesus died so you can have an intimate relationship with the Father. Is your relationship with God distant or intimate: Jesus died because He wants you to relate with the Father personally. To what extent have you opened your heart to God?
The torn veil signifies the destruction of everything that con keep us from enjoying God’s fullness. Are you sick in your body? Are you in the bondage of addictions? Are you tormented ov demons? Jesus tore the veil so that you can access health, deliverance, peace and freedom.
You don’t have to continue struggling through life when you can enjoy all that Jesus death has made available to you. I pray that everything hindering you from enjoying good health and peace will be torn like that veil. in Jesus name.
The torn veil also signifies a new beginning. It means that the old has been taken away. You can now enjoy newness and fullness of life. While the vell remained in the temple, people lived under the old covenant, but as soon as it was torn mankind was ushered into a new covenant
Hebrews 12:24 says that Jesus is the mediator of the new covenant, and his blood speaks to us. As we celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, may his blood speak better things into your life, and may you experience new beginnings in every area of your life where you need newness, in Jesus name.
Lastly, the veil represents Jesus’ body (Hebrews 10:19-20). His flesh was torn so that yours can be whole. I pray that from now on, you will experience wholeness in every area of your life, in Jesus’ name.
Happy Easter
ACTION POINT:
Spend some time thanking Jesus for His sacrifice on the cross and for taking away the veil.

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 20 APRIL 2025 COMMENTARY
Today’s devotional centers on Luke 23:45 (and parallel passages like Matthew 27:51), where the temple veil was torn at Christ’s death. This was no small event—it symbolized a cosmic shift in humanity’s relationship with God.
1. The Veil Torn: The End of Separation
In the Old Testament, the veil separated the Holy of Holies (God’s presence) from the people. Only the high priest could enter, once a year, with blood sacrifices (Hebrews 9:7). But when Jesus died:
- God Himself tore the veil (Matthew 27:51)—signifying that the way to Him was now open.
- The barrier of sin was destroyed (Ephesians 2:14-16). No more need for animal sacrifices—Christ’s blood was enough.
Application:
- You don’t need a mediator (priest, pastor, or ritual) to reach God. Jesus is our High Priest (Hebrews 4:14-16).
- Approach God boldly. If you feel distant from Him, remember—the veil is gone. You can call Him “Abba, Father” (Romans 8:15).
2. The Torn Veil Means Full Access to God’s Blessings
The devotional for today highlights that Christ’s death didn’t just grant us prayer access—it unlocked healing, deliverance, peace, and freedom.
- Are you sick? Jesus bore your infirmities (Isaiah 53:5).
- In bondage? “If the Son sets you free, you are free indeed” (John 8:36).
- Tormented? Christ disarmed demons at the Cross (Colossians 2:15).
Prayer Point:
“Every hindrance to my health, peace, and breakthrough—be torn like the veil, in Jesus’ name!”
3. A New Covenant, A New Beginning
The torn veil marked the end of the Old Covenant (law, sacrifices) and the start of the New Covenant (grace, relationship).
- Hebrews 12:24 calls Jesus the “Mediator of the New Covenant.”
- 2 Corinthians 5:17 says we are “new creations” in Him.
Application:
- Let go of old guilt, shame, or legalism. You’re under grace!
- Expect newness. Just as Easter celebrates resurrection, expect fresh starts in your family, health, and purpose.
4. The Veil as Christ’s Body (Hebrews 10:19-20)
The veil wasn’t just cloth. It foreshadowed Christ’s flesh, torn for us. His suffering secured our wholeness.
- Physical body? By His stripes, we are healed (1 Peter 2:24).
- Emotional wounds? He was “bruised for our iniquities” (Isaiah 53:5).
Prayer Declaration:
“Jesus was broken so I could be whole. I receive total restoration—spirit, soul, and body!”
Conclusion: Live in the Reality of the Torn Veil
This Easter, don’t just celebrate Christ’s death – live in its power!
- Draw near to God (Hebrews 10:22). No more distance!
- Claim your healing, freedom, and breakthroughs. The veil is gone—the blessings are yours!
- Walk in newness. The old is passed away (2 Corinthians 5:17).
Final Prayer:
“Father, thank You for tearing the veil. Help me live boldly in Your presence, walk in wholeness, and embrace the new things You’re doing in my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen!”
Happy Easter! He is risen and because He lives, we live victoriously!
