Open Heaven 24 April 2025 Today Devotional: BECOMING A WONDER II

OPEN HEAVEN 24 APRIL 2025 TODAY DEVOTIONAL

TOPIC: BECOMING A WONDER II

MEMORISE
How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all who were oppressed by the devil; for God was with him.
Acts 10:38

READ: Luke 13:10-17

10 And he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath.
11 And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself.
12 And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity.
13 And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.
14 And the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because that Jesus had healed on the sabbath day, and said unto the people, There are six days in which men ought to work: in them therefore come and be healed, and not on the sabbath day.

15 The Lord then answered him, and said, Thou hypocrite, doth not each one of you on the sabbath loose his ox or his ass from the stall, and lead him away to watering?
16 And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day?
17 And when he had said these things, all his adversaries were ashamed: and all the people rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by him.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 24 APRIL 2025 TODAY MESSAGE

I will conclude the teaching I started yesterday by narrating one of my experiences. Years ago, the Nigerian government wanted to ensure that all the people being paid pensions were still alive, so they directed all pensioners to show up in a particular place. I decided to also go since l had retired from the university as a lecturer.

While I was there, a woman, who was also a pensioner, saw me and began to scream. She said that she had been pregnant for about 14 years, and she wanted me to pray for her. l laid my hands on her, prayed a simple prayer, and she delivered right there in that office. The people around there began to wonder who l was. When the Holy Spirit comes on you, you will become a wonder.

The Holy Spirit releases captives and sets people free to do God’s will. During Jesus’ human ministry, the Spirit of the Lord came upon Him, and he performed many mighty miracles. In today’s Bible reading, a woman, who had been bent over for eighteen years because of a spirit of infirmity, received her freedom and stood upright. She had been limited In what she could see and do, yet when Jesus, filled with the Holy Spirit, laid His hands on ner, she stood uprignt immediately and glorified God. The people around also rejoiced for the glorious thing that had been done.

At another time, Jesus met a man who had an infirmity for thirty-eight years. Immediately, Jesus told him to rise, take up his bed, and walk (John 5:1-9). In another place He restored a madman who lived among the tombs to his right mind (Mark 5:1-15). He also raised Lazarus, who had been dead for four days (John 11:1-44). Jesus went about doing good because the Holy Spirit was upon Him (Acts 10:38). When He comes upon you, you will also go about doing good, healing the sick, and delivering those who are oppressed by the devil.

The Holy Spirit, however, doesn’t force people or try to make unwilling vessels a wonder in their world. Are you a willing vessel? Are you willing to do His will and obey His every command? I pray that you will come into an unusual dimension of the Holy Spirit, and through you, He will perform great and mighty wonders, in Jesus’ name.

PRAYER POINT:

Holy Spirit, I yield myself to You; please make me a wonder, in Jesus’ name.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR

HYMN 7: I AM THINE O LORD.

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 24 APRIL 2025 COMMENTARY

Today’s devotional, anchored on Acts 10:38, emphasizes how Jesus – anointed by the Holy Spirit – went about doing good, healing the oppressed, and setting captives free. Through biblical accounts and personal testimony, we learn that the same Spirit empowers believers today to continue Christ’s ministry of liberation.

1. The Holy Spirit Makes You a Wonder (Personal Testimony)

  • The 14-Year Pregnancy Miracle:
    • A woman’s supernatural deliverance in a pension office demonstrates God’s power through yielded vessels.
    • Key Lesson: When the Spirit moves, even “ordinary” moments become divine encounters(1 Corinthians 2:4-5).
  • Application:
    • Your identity in Christ isn’t defined by your profession (lecturer, doctor, etc.) but by the Spirit’s presence in you (Romans 8:19).
    • Expect God to use you unexpectedly.

2. Jesus’ Model: Spirit-Empowered Liberation (Luke 13:10-17)

  • The Bent Woman:
    • 18 years of bondage → instant freedom under Jesus’ hands (Luke 13:12-13).
    • Religion criticized, but heaven rejoiced (v. 17).
  • Other Examples:
    • 38-year infirmity healed (John 5:8).
    • Demonized man restored (Mark 5:15).
    • Lazarus raised (John 11:44).
  • Key Insight:
    • All these miracles flowed from the Holy Spirit’s anointing (Acts 10:38).
    • Jesus’ ministry is our blueprint (John 14:12).

Application:

  • Pray for the Spirit’s boldness to confront “incurable” situations (Acts 4:29-31).
  • Reject religious traditions that hinder deliverance (Mark 7:13).

3. The Holy Spirit Works Through Willing Vessels

  • The Spirit Doesn’t Force:
    • He seeks obedient, available hearts (Isaiah 6:8).
    • Example: The disciples’ transformation from fear (John 20:19) to boldness (Acts 2:14).
  • Modern Parallel:
    • Are you making excuses (Moses in Exodus 4:10)?
    • Or surrendering like Mary (Luke 1:38)?

Self-Examination:

  1. Am I willing to be interrupted for divine assignments (like Jesus with the bent woman)?
  2. Do I prioritize human approval over obedience to the Spirit (Galatians 1:10)?

4. How to Walk in This Anointing

  1. Seek Intimacy with the Spirit (John 15:5).
    • Pray in tongues (Jude 1:20), worship, and study Scripture.
  2. Step Out in Faith (Mark 16:17-18).
    • Like Peter’s shadow (Acts 5:15) or Paul’s handkerchiefs (Acts 19:12), God uses what you yield.
  3. Expect Opposition but Press On (2 Timothy 3:12).
    • Jesus faced critics (Luke 13:14)—don’t let resistance stop you.

Prophetic Prayer:
“Holy Spirit, clothe me with Your power (Luke 24:49). Make me a conduit of healing, deliverance, and miracles—for Your glory alone. In Jesus’ name, Amen!”

Conclusion: You Are Anointed for This Hour

  • The same Spirit who raised Christ lives in you (Romans 8:11).
  • Your “pension office” (mundane place) can become a revival ground.

Final Charge:

  • Today, lay hands on someone (Mark 16:18).
  • This week, confront a “bent” situation (sickness, despair, bondage) with Spirit-backed authority.

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me… to proclaim liberty to the captives…” (Luke 4:18). Now, He’s upon YOU!
