MEMORISE
When the Lord turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream.
Psalm 126:1

READ: Psalm 126:1-3

When the Lord turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream.
2 Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The Lord hath done great things for them.
3 The Lord hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 27 APRIL 2025 TODAY MESSAGE

Today’s memory verse says that when God turned the captivity of Zion, it was like a dream. When God gives you some testimonies, you might pinch yourself from time to time to be sure that you are awake and not dreaming.

In Psalm 23:5, David said, “Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies:…” That testimony was good enough, but then he went ahead to say, “.. thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.” I am sure that some of the people around him asked, “What kind of testimony is this? Brother, are you sure you are not exaggerating?”

I’ll share one of such testimonies with you.

While I was a lecturer at the University of lorin, my wife and I had this teapot from which we could pour five cups of tea. Whenever we wanted to eat breakfast, my wife and I would fill the pot. After we have both had two cups of tea, the first person to finish the second cup of tea would usually go for the last cup.

On one occasion. the tegpot was full as usual, and after we had both had two cups of tea, we discovered that the pot was empty as we looked at each other with a confused look on our faces, the Lord said to me, “When you were praying, you said, ‘Lord, bless this food, join us as we eat.’ I thought you invited me.” I was thrilled to learn that the Lord Jesus joined us for breakfast. However, when I shared this testimony, the brethren looked at me like I had gone crazy because I said that Jesus drank tea. It became an embarrassment, such that l had to cry to God to show me a similar incident from the Scriptures. Then, He showed me that in John 21, after Jesus had risen from the dead, He appeared to the disciples, and they joined Him at the shore and ate fish and bread with Him. The Lord said that after He rose from the dead, He could eat fish and bread, and if they had tea, He could have drank it with them also.

Beloved, God is able to do exceeding abundantly above your wildest imagination (Ephesians 3:20). I pray for you today that He will give you a testimony that people will find difficult to believe when you share it, in Jesus’ name

PRAYER POINT:

Father, please bring me into the realm of unbelievable testimonies, in Jesus’ name.

HYMN 26: THERE SHALL BE SHOWERS OF BLESSINGS

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 27 APRIL 2025 COMMENTARY

1. The Nature of Divine Testimonies

Daddy Adeboye begins by highlighting how God’s interventions can be so overwhelming that they feel surreal—like a dream. This aligns with Psalm 126, where Israel’s restoration was so miraculous that it seemed unbelievable. Similarly, when God moves mightily in our lives, we may struggle to fully grasp His goodness because it surpasses human reasoning (Isaiah 55:8-9).

2. The Overflowing Blessings of God

Referencing Psalm 23:5, the devotional for today emphasizes that God’s blessings are not just sufficient – they overflow. David’s testimony of an overflowing cup signifies abundance beyond expectation. As believers, we must understand that God’s provision is not limited to our needs but extends to His supernatural abundance (Malachi 3:10, Ephesians 3:20).

3. A Personal Testimony of Divine Encounter

Pastor Adeboye shares a remarkable experience where Jesus supernaturally joined him and his wife for breakfast, drinking tea from their pot. Some may find this hard to believe, but it aligns with biblical accounts of Jesus eating after His resurrection (Luke 24:41-43; John 21:9-13). This teaches us that:

  • God is present in the ordinary. He is not distant but engages with us in daily life (Matthew 28:20).
  • Divine encounters defy human logic. Just as Jesus ate with His disciples post-resurrection, He can still interact with us in unexpected ways.
  • Testimonies may be misunderstood. Some will doubt supernatural encounters, but we must stand on God’s Word (1 Corinthians 2:14).

4. God Does the Impossible (Ephesians 3:20)

Open Heaven devotional for today concludes with a powerful prayer for testimonies so extraordinary that they defy human explanation. This aligns with Scripture, where God does “exceedingly abundantly above all we ask or think” (Ephesians 3:20).

Application for the Reader:

  1. Expect the supernatural. God is not limited by human understanding.
  2. Don’t fear sharing your testimony, even if others doubt. Stand on God’s Word.
  3. Invite God into every area of your life, including the mundane. He desires fellowship with you.
  4. Believe for the impossible. If God could turn Zion’s captivity into a dream-like joy, He can do the same for you.

Prayer:
“Father, give me a testimony so great that it glorifies Your name. Open my eyes to see Your hand in every area of my life, and let my cup overflow with Your blessings, in Jesus’ name. Amen.”

Final Thought:

God’s ways are higher than ours. Whether through miraculous provision, divine encounters, or supernatural breakthroughs, He remains the God of the impossible. Like Daddy Adeboye, may we walk in faith, expecting testimonies that declare His glory!
