RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 28 FEBRUARY 2026 MESSAGE TODAY

The phrase ‘right hand’ bears great significance in the Bible. It portrays a position of privilege – a place of honour and status. For example, our Lord Jesus Christ sits at the right hand of the Father (Hebrews 1:3). Hebrews 12:2 also reveals that after Jesus suffered and died on the cross, He sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. The right hand of God represents His ultimate strength and power.

Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him.
1 Peter 3:22

The person being referred to in the Scripture above is Jesus. He is the One on the right hand of God with all powers in subjection to Him. No matter the earthly position a fellow occupies, there is more power and authority at the right hand of God. God’s right hand is the place where all angels, authorities, and powers submit to Him.

Psalm 18:35 also reveals that the right hand of God is the place of sustenance and help. Today’s memory verse tells us that as God’s children, we are seated together with Christ, and since He is at God’s right hand, we are also there with Him.

Being at the right hand of God means that you will never lack help and provision. It means that you will always find the timely and abundant help you need.

Those who are at God’s right hand are never small because His right hand is the place of power, as we see in Mark 14:62, which says: “And Jesus said, 1 am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.” This means that, as Christians, we are a people of power and influence. We enjoy help, sustenance, and favour from God.

Unfortunately, however, while this is our identity as God’s children, some believers are living far away from this reality because, like the prodigal son in Luke 15:11-32, they have wandered far away from the Father’s right hand. They have heeded the call of sin and frustrated God’s grace upon their lives.

Beloved, if you have not surrendered to God, or if you have wandered away from Him, I invite you today to come unto Him. He is knocking at the door of your heart (Revelation 3:20); open it up to Him. He is waiting for you earnestly with open arms; don’t keep Him waiting.

REFLECTION:

Are you occupying your place at God’s right hand?

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 28 FEBRUARY 2026 COMMENTARY

MEMORISE: Ephesians 2:6
“And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.”
This verse is the breathtaking declaration of our new, spiritual position. Our identity is not defined by earthly circumstances but by a cosmic reality: we have been co-raised and co-seated with Christ. This is not a future hope but a present, legal reality. Since Christ is seated at the Father’s right hand, this is our positional address—the place of ultimate authority, favor, and victory.

BIBLE READING: Psalm 110:1-3
This prophetic psalm, quoted frequently in the New Testament, establishes the messianic reign. The LORD (Father) invites the Lord (Messiah, Christ) to sit at His right hand, a place of shared rule and absolute triumph over enemies. It is a position of willing service (“thy people shall be willing”) and holy authority (“the rod of thy strength”). This is the throne to which we, in Christ, are joined.

The Significance of the Right Hand

Daddy Adeboye explains the profound biblical symbolism of the “right hand.” It is the place of:

  • Highest Honour and Intimacy: The seat next to the king, reserved for the most trusted and favored (Hebrews 1:3).
  • Ultimate Power and Authority: The seat from which all divine power is exercised (Mark 14:62).
  • Complete Victory: Where Christ reigns with all enemies subdued under His feet (1 Peter 3:22).
  • Sustenance and Help: The place from which support and provision are dispensed (Psalm 18:35).

Our Positional Reality: Seated with Christ

The transformative truth from Ephesians 2:6 is that we are not mere spectators of Christ’s exaltation; we are participants. “Made us sit together” means we have been given a place of joint seating with Him. Therefore:

  • “We are also there with Him.” Our spiritual citizenship and seating are in the throne room.
  • “Being at the right hand of God means that you will never lack help and provision.” From this position, all the resources of heaven are accessible. Need is met from a posture of royal authority, not beggarly pleading.
  • “Those who are at God’s right hand are never small.” Our identity is one of inherent power and divine influence. We are a “people of power and influence” because of where we are positioned.

The Tragic Disconnect: Wandering from Our Seat

The devotional presents a sobering contrast: while this is our true identity, many believers live in a false reality. They are like the prodigal son who, though a son by birth, chose to live in a distant country, feeding on husks. This is a picture of a Christian who is positionally seated in heavenly places but practically living far from the Father’s presence and provision because of sin, disobedience, or worldly alliance.

  • “They have heeded the call of sin and frustrated God’s grace.” Grace positions us, but sin and willful wandering frustrate (nullify, make ineffective) the experience of that grace in our daily lives.

The Invitation: Return to Your Rightful Place

The call is both to the unsaved and to the wandering believer. It is an invitation to occupy your position.

  • For the Unsaved: To “surrender to God” is to be spiritually raised from death and seated with Christ for the first time. It is to receive your heavenly citizenship.
  • For the Wandering Believer: To “come unto Him” is a call to repent, to leave the far country of sin and self-reliance, and to return to the conscious experience of your seated position in Christ.

The imagery of Revelation 3:20 is poignant: Christ is knocking. He is not knocking on heaven’s door—He is already inside. He is knocking on the door of the heart of the one who is outside the experience of fellowship, though their name is on the title deed. He waits with open arms, eager to restore the wandering one to the full experience of sonship and authority.

How to Live from Your Seated Position

  1. Acknowledge Your Position Daily: Confess Ephesians 2:6. Declare, “I am raised and seated with Christ in heavenly places. All authority and provision are mine in Him.”
  2. Pray from Your Throne, Not Your Trouble: Approach God not as a beggar in the dirt, but as a co-heir on the throne. Make your requests with the authority of your seated position.
  3. Renounce the “Far Country”: Identify any area of life where you are living independently from God’s rule. Repent and consciously realign your thoughts and actions with your royal status.
  4. Exercise Authority Over Enemies: From your seated position, command every spiritual enemy and earthly challenge that tries to lord it over you to be subdued under the feet of Christ, in whom you are seated.
  5. Live as a Person of Influence: Knowing you are not “small,” step into godly influence in your sphere. Your seated position grants you authority to bring heaven’s order to earth.

Prayer to Occupy Your Seat:
“Heavenly Father, I thank You for the staggering truth that I have been raised and seated with Christ at Your right hand. I receive this as my true identity. Forgive me for any way I have wandered and lived beneath this reality. Today, I return fully to my place in You. I open the door of my heart wide to Your lordship. I take my seat in heavenly places. From this position, I claim my inheritance of help, provision, power, and victory. No enemy shall triumph over me, for I am seated where all powers are subject to Christ. Help me to live daily in the conscious reality of this glorious truth. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.”
