OPEN HEAVEN 3 AUGUST 2025 TODAY DEVOTIONAL
TOPIC: OVERFLOWING WEALTH
MEMORISE
Wealth and riches shall be in his house: and his righteousness endureth for ever.
Psalms 112:3
READ: Zechariah 1:14-17
14 So the angel that communed with me said unto me, Cry thou, saying, Thus saith the Lord of hosts; I am jealous for Jerusalem and for Zion with a great jealousy.
15 And I am very sore displeased with the heathen that are at ease: for I was but a little displeased, and they helped forward the affliction.
16 Therefore thus saith the Lord; I am returned to Jerusalem with mercies: my house shall be built in it, saith the Lord of hosts, and a line shall be stretched forth upon Jerusalem.
17 Cry yet, saying, Thus saith the Lord of hosts; My cities through prosperity shall yet be spread abroad; and the Lord shall yet comfort Zion, and shall yet choose Jerusalem.
RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 3 AUGUST 2025 TODAY MESSAGE
God doesn’t just want you to be rich; He wants you to overflow with wealth. In 2 Chronicles 1:6-15, the Bible records that Solomon had so much wealth that he made silver and gold as common as stones in Jerusalem. Even though he only asked God for wisdom to rule Israel, God gave him great riches in addition to the wisdom.
Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favour my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, Let the LORD be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant.
Psalm 35:27
God truly derives pleasure in the prosperity of His servants. He can decide to make you overflow with wealth, but He will not do it for someone who is selfish. When He gave Solomon overflowing wealth, it was because Solomon did not ask for something for himself; rather, he asked for something for God’s people. God will not give you overflowing wealth if you’re not committed to His people and His work on the earth. If all you want to do with wealth is to spend it on yourself and your family alone or show off before people, God will not give you access to overflowing wealth.
When God knows that He can trust you to use the resources He gives you to advance His kingdom on earth, He will bless you with abundance. He blessed Abraham with overflowing wealth and made him great because He could trust him and because He knew he would be a blessing to the whole world (Genesis 18:17-19). Can God trust you with overflowing wealth?
I travelled to Gibraltar at one time, and I was having a nice time looking at tourist attractions like the Rock of Gibraltar and so on. Suddenly, I saw something that affected my happiness – there was a mosque built there with millions of pounds sterling. When I asked, I was told that only a few people use the mosque, and only one person funded the construction of the building! I turned to God and asked, “Lord, what is this?” The answer I got from Him was, “You people are too slow!
Particularly you Nigerians. Some of you are even afraid to prosper. When you pray, ‘O God, prosper me, all you are asking for is one million naira. You don’t have a vision to take the whole world for Jesus Christ.”
Beloved, when your heart is ablaze with a burning passion to advance God’s kingdom, He will not hesitate to give you overflowing wealth.

HYMN 26: THERE SHALL BE SHOWERS OF BLESSINGS
OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 3 AUGUST 2025 COMMENTARY
MEMORISE: Psalms 112:3
“Wealth and riches shall be in his house: and his righteousness endureth forever.”
This verse ties material prosperity to righteous living. It’s not just about wealth but wealth with purpose—blessings that outlive us because they’re rooted in God’s eternal agenda.
BIBLE READING: Zechariah 1:14-17
God’s promise to restore Jerusalem’s prosperity (v.17) reveals His heart:
- v.14: His jealousy for His people’s flourishing.
- v.16: His commitment to rebuild and bless.
- v.17: Overflowing abundance as a divine response to obedience.
God’s Heart for Overflowing Wealth
Daddy Adeboye’s message dismantles two myths:
- Poverty piety: The idea that God prefers His children poor (contrast John 10:10).
- Selfish prosperity: Wealth for personal luxury alone (Luke 12:21).
1. Biblical Models of Overflow
- Solomon (2 Chronicles 1:6-15):
- Request: Wisdom to serve God’s people.
- Result: Gold became “as common as stones.”
- Principle: God multiplies resources when our ask aligns with His mission.
- Abraham (Genesis 18:17-19):
- Trust Factor: God knew Abraham would steward wealth for global blessing.
- Legacy: His riches funded covenant promises (Genesis 22:17-18).
2. The Litmus Test for Wealth (Psalm 35:27)
God delights in prospering His servants who prioritize His cause. Daddy Adeboye’s encounter in Gibraltar exposes a sobering truth:
- The Mosque Example: One individual funded a multimillion-pound mosque for a tiny community.
- The Holy Discontent: “You people are too slow!”—God’s rebuke against small vision.
- Nigerian Mindset: Praying for “just one million naira” instead of global kingdom impact.
3. The Danger of Selfish Prosperity
- Misused Wealth: Like the rich fool (Luke 12:16-21), hoarding invites divine rebuke.
- Missed Opportunities: Fear of prosperity (e.g., “What if I fall into sin?”) limits kingdom funding.
How to Qualify for Overflow
1. Shift Your Prayer Focus
- Wrong Ask: “Lord, make me rich for my comfort.”
- Right Ask: “Father, prosper me to build churches, fund missions, and rescue souls” (Haggai 2:8).
2. Prove Your Stewardship
- Small Tests Matter: Faithfulness in tithes (Malachi 3:10), helping the poor (Proverbs 19:17).
- Kingdom Investments: Like the Macedonians (2 Corinthians 8:1-5), give beyond your “ability.”
3. Think Globally
- Daddy Adeboye’s Charge: “Take the whole world for Jesus Christ.”
- Practical Step: Allocate a portion of income to gospel projects (e.g., Bibles for unreached tribes).
Prayer for Breakthrough
“Father, ignite my heart with zeal for Your kingdom! Break my fear of prosperity and selfish smallness. As You trusted Solomon and Abraham, trust me with overflow—not for my vanity, but for Your glory. Let my wealth preach the gospel where my voice cannot reach, in Jesus’ name!”
Action Steps
- Audit Your Vision: Write down one kingdom project your current resources could support (e.g., a child’s education in your church). Start today.
- Study Prosperity Scriptures: Meditate on Deuteronomy 8:18, 3 John 1:2, and Proverbs 10:22 daily.
- Meet a Need: This week, anonymously bless a missionary or struggling family.
Conclusion: Wealth That Speaks (Proverbs 10:22)
Daddy Adeboye’s message is clear: God’s overflow isn’t about luxury—it’s about legacy. When wealth flows through righteous hands, it funds eternity.
“Silver and gold will lose their shine in heaven, but souls won through kingdom-funded prosperity will shine forever.”
