TOPIC: SHARE THE GOOD NEWS I

MEMORISE
I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart; I have declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation: I have not concealed thy lovingkindness and thy truth from the great congregation.
Psalm 40:10

READ: Mark 5:1-20
1 And they came over unto the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gadarenes.
2 And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit,
3 Who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains:
4 Because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any man tame him.
5 And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones.

6 But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him,
7 And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not.
8 For he said unto him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit.
9 And he asked him, What is thy name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many.
10 And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country.

11 Now there was there nigh unto the mountains a great herd of swine feeding.
12 And all the devils besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them.
13 And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (they were about two thousand;) and were choked in the sea.
14 And they that fed the swine fled, and told it in the city, and in the country. And they went out to see what it was that was done.
15 And they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.

16 And they that saw it told them how it befell to him that was possessed with the devil, and also concerning the swine.
17 And they began to pray him to depart out of their coasts.
18 And when he was come into the ship, he that had been possessed with the devil prayed him that he might be with him.
19 Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee.
20 And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men did marvel.

RCCG OPEN HEAVENS 4 APRIL 2026 TODAY MESSAGE

When the Almighty God set the madman of Gadara free in today’s Bible reading, He told him to tell other people about what God had done for him. As a result, the man began to go around, telling others about what Jesus Christ had done for him.

One of the things God told me at one time was that I should tell His people that the more they testify, the more miracles they would get from Him. When God does something in your life, you should tell others about what He has done; do not keep the good news of His love and forgiveness to yourself.

When the Samaritan woman who met Jesus by a well in Sychar encountered Jesus, she ran to tell everyone who would listen about her experience. She said, “Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?” (John 4:29).

A long time ago, I was going through a difficult time, and things were really tough for me. However, whenever people asked me how I was doing, l always told them that God was working overtime in taking care of me. I never stopped testifying of His goodness, and today, I am even bolder to say that God is working extra overtime to take care of me. I am never ashamed to share the good things that God has done for me.

But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
2 Corinthians 4:3-4

People who worship idols invite others to join their cults by telling and showing them what they have received from the devil. They do not hide what they get from satan, even though his gifts always come with hidden and terrible consequences.

The Scripture above tells us that if we hide the good news of the things that God has done for us, the people who are on the path of destruction will not receive salvation. When God does something in your life, you must not hide it; rather, share the testimony with other people unless He tells you otherwise. Tell your friends, co- workers, and neighbours about the goodness of the Lord this Easter season. Encourage them to taste and see that the Lord is good indeed (Psalm 34:8).

KEY POINT:

If we do not share the good things that God has done for us, many people will remain under the devil’s bondage.

Open Heavens HYMN 13: Jesus loves me! This I know

OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL 4 APRIL 2026 COMMENTARY

MEMORISE: Psalm 40:10

“I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart; I have declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation: I have not concealed thy lovingkindness and thy truth from the great congregation.”
David declares here that he refused to keep God’s goodness a secret. His testimony was not just for himself—it was for the congregation, for the people around him who needed to hear what God had done.

BIBLE READING: Mark 5:1-20

This is the powerful story of the madman of Gadara—a man possessed by a legion of demons, living among tombs, cutting himself, beyond anyone’s ability to control. Jesus delivered him completely, and the demons entered a herd of pigs that rushed into the sea. When the man begged to follow Jesus, the Lord gave him a surprising command: “Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee.” The man obeyed and began publishing in Decapolis all that Jesus had done. This passage establishes a key principle: deliverance is not just for your benefit—it comes with a commission to testify.

The Testimony That Unlocks More Miracles

In today’s devotional, Pastor E.A. Adeboye shares a divine secret that God revealed to him personally: the more you testify, the more miracles you receive. Testifying is not just about giving God glory—it is a spiritual trigger that opens the door for more of His power in your life.

Why Testimony Matters So Much

When you look at the Bible reading, you see something interesting. The delivered man wanted to follow Jesus, probably out of gratitude and love. But Jesus sent him back to his own community. Why? Because his testimony was needed there. The people of Decapolis knew this man as the terrifying, uncontrollable madman. If they could see him sitting, clothed, and in his right mind, they would have to acknowledge that something real had happened. His testimony was the evidence they needed.

The devotional gives us two powerful examples of people who understood this urgency:

The Samaritan Woman (John 4): She met Jesus at the well, and He revealed her entire life story to her. She didn’t keep this encounter to herself. She ran back to the city and told everyone, “Come, see a man which told me all things that ever I did.” Her testimony brought a whole community to Jesus.

Daddy Adeboye’s Personal Example: During a difficult time in his life, when things were tough, he made a decision. Whenever anyone asked how he was doing, he didn’t list his problems—he declared that God was working overtime to take care of him. He kept testifying even when the situation hadn’t fully changed. And today, he testifies even more boldly that God is working extra overtime. His testimony didn’t wait for the full manifestation—it helped create it.

The Danger of Silence

The devotional issues a serious warning from 2 Corinthians 4:3-4. If our gospel is hidden, it is hidden only to those who are perishing. The enemy has blinded the minds of unbelievers, and one of the primary ways their eyes are opened is through our testimony.

Think about this: people who serve other gods are not shy about it. They openly share what they believe they have received from their sources. They invite others to join them. They are bold about their allegiance.

How much more should we be bold about the living God? If we hide what God has done, we are essentially cooperating with the enemy’s plan to keep people in darkness. Our silence can cost someone their salvation.

What Testimony Does

When you share your testimony, several things happen:

  1. It Glorifies God: Your story points to His power and faithfulness, not your own strength.
  2. It Encourages Others: Someone hearing your testimony may be on the verge of giving up. Your story becomes their fuel to keep trusting.
  3. It Confronts Unbelief: The enemy wants people to believe God doesn’t answer prayers. Your testimony is living proof that He does.
  4. It Opens the Door for More: As Daddy Adeboye learned from God, testimony triggers more miracles. When you are thankful for what God has done, He trusts you with more.

How to Testify Effectively

You don’t need a big pulpit to share what God has done. Here are practical ways to obey this instruction:

  1. Tell Your Friends and Family: Start with the people closest to you. Let them know what God has done in your life—healing, provision, deliverance, peace, or guidance.
  2. Share at Work: When colleagues ask how your weekend was or how you are doing, use it as an opportunity to mention God’s goodness. You don’t have to preach a sermon—just a simple statement like “God really came through for me this week” can plant a seed.
  3. Use This Easter Season: The devotional specifically mentions Easter as a perfect time to share. People are more open during this season. Invite someone to church. Tell them why Jesus matters to you.
  4. Don’t Wait for Perfection: Like Daddy Adeboye, testify even while you are still trusting God for the full breakthrough. Your faith-filled testimony in the middle of the battle is powerful.

Conclusion: Your Story Could Save Someone

The madman of Gadara probably didn’t realize that his testimony would be recorded in Scripture for thousands of years to read. He just told his friends what Jesus had done. But that simple obedience became part of the eternal Word of God.

You don’t know who is watching your life. You don’t know who needs to hear your story. Someone in your circle is on the path to destruction, blinded by the enemy. Your testimony could be the light that opens their eyes.

Don’t hide it. Don’t be shy. Don’t wait for a perfect moment. Open your mouth and declare what the Lord has done. The more you testify, the more miracles are coming your way.

Pray this:
“Father, forgive me for the times I have kept silent about Your goodness. Give me boldness to share what You have done in my life. Open doors for me to testify to my friends, my family, and my colleagues. Use my story to draw others to You. And as I testify, Lord, release more miracles into my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

Action Steps:

  • Write down three things God has done for you recently. Keep this list handy so you always have a testimony ready.
  • Identify one person you can share your testimony with this week. Pray for them and look for an opportunity.
  • During this Easter season, invite at least one person to church or to an Easter program. Tell them why Jesus is worth celebrating.
  • Practice giving God the glory in everyday conversations. Instead of just saying “I’m fine,” try saying “God has been good to me.”
