Open Heaven Devotional 4 March 2025: FOR HIS GLORY

OPEN HEAVEN 4 MARCH 2025 DEVOTIONAL

TOPIC: FOR HIS GLORY

MEMORISE
Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.
Psalm 29:2

READ: Isaiah 48:9-11
9 For my name’s sake will I defer mine anger, and for my praise will I refrain for thee, that I cut thee not off.
10 Behold, I have refined thee, but not with silver; I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction.
11 For mine own sake, even for mine own sake, will I do it: for how should my name be polluted? and I will not give my glory unto another.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 4 MARCH 2025 MESSAGE

Yesterday, I discussed how every part of your life was created to give God pleasure. Today, I want to show you that you were also created to give God glory.

In John 9:1-7, the disciples asked Jesus about what was responsible for a blind man’s situation, and He replied that it was not a question of sin but that God’s glory might be revealed. The Lord spat on the ground, made some mud, put it on the blind man’s eyes, and asked him to go and wash. The blind man came back seeing.

Glory belongs to God; He is the Father of glory (Ephesians 1:17). God is very jealous of His glory (Isaiah 42:8), and everything you do must give Him glory. If you try to hinder God from getting glory, He will only use you to get even more glory, as He did with Pharaoh. Even today, God is getting glory from the destruction of Pharaoh and his army because he tried to hinder the Israelites from worshipping and giving God glory (Exodus 15:1-4). Those who try to take God’s glory will bring God’s judgment upon themselves if they don’t repent. When Nebuchadnezzar’s heart was lifted because of his accomplishments, God made him roam the forest for seven years like a wild beast (Daniel 4:28-33). After eating grass like an animal, his understanding returned to him, and he gave God the glory He deserved (Daniel 4:34). It took a terrible experience for Nebuchadnezzar to give all the glory to God – do not be like Him. Always give God the glory that is due to His name. Herod also learnt to give God the glory the hard way.

However, unlike Nebuchadnezzar who got a second chance, he was eaten up by worms until he died because he didn’t give God the glory (Acts 12:20-23).

It is a terrible and fearful thing to fall into the hands of our God, who doesn’t share His glory.

When God does something for you, don’t act like you did it all by yourself; acknowledge Him and give Him the glory. Some men of God have allowed the power God gave them to deceive them into thinking they are very important. Stop stealing God’s show because you are absolutely nothing without Him. When God does anything through you, He does it for His name’s sake. Don’t ever forget that you are what you are by the grace of God. God deserves all the glory, and He must have it all.

PRAYER POINT

Father, I repent of every time I might have taken credit for the things You have done in my life. I will give You the glory due unto Your name now and always, in Jesus’ name.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 4 MARCH 2025 COMMENTARY

1. The Divine Purpose: You Were Made to Glorify God

The Open Heaven devotional for today builds on yesterday’s theme—we exist for God’s pleasure—but today emphasizes that pleasing Him is inseparable from glorifying Him.

  • The blind man in John 9 was born with his condition not because of sin, but so that God’s glory could be displayed (John 9:3).
  • Miracles are not about us; they are about showcasing God’s power (Isaiah 48:11 – “For My own sake… I will not give My glory to another”).

Key Insight:

  • Your life is a stage for divine demonstration. Every trial, victory, or breakthrough is an opportunity to magnify God.

Application:
✔ Stop asking, “Why me?” in hard times; ask, “How can God be glorified here?” (1 Peter 4:12-13).
✔ Live intentionally to reflect His majesty (Matthew 5:16).

2. God’s Jealousy for His Glory

God is righteously possessive of His glory (Isaiah 42:8). The devotional warns:

  • Pharaoh resisted God’s glory. God drowned him and got eternal praise (Exodus 15:1-4).
  • Nebuchadnezzar boasted. God humbled him until he repented (Daniel 4:30-34).
  • Herod accepted worship. God struck him dead (Acts 12:22-23).

Modern Parallels:

  • Leaders who claim credit for God’s works.
  • Believers who attribute success to their “smartness” or “hard work.”

Warning:

  • “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble” (James 4:6).
  • Pride invites destruction; humility invites promotion (Proverbs 16:18).

Application:
✔ Audit your heart: Do I subtly seek praise for what God has done?
✔ Redirect applause to God (1 Corinthians 15:10 – “By the grace of God I am what I am”).

3. The Grace of Second Chances (vs. Sudden Judgment)

  • Nebuchadnezzar repented and was restored (Daniel 4:34-37).
  • Herod refused repentance and died horribly (Acts 12:23).

Lesson:

  • God is patient, but His justice is certain (Numbers 14:18; Nahum 1:3).
  • Those who humble themselves avoid divine correction (2 Chronicles 7:14).

Application:
✔ Repent quickly when pride creeps in.
✔ Use testimonies to point others to God, not yourself.

4. Practical Ways to Give God Glory

  1. In Speech:
    • Replace “I achieved…” with “God enabled me…”
    • Testify openly (Psalm 105:1).
  2. In Lifestyle:
    • Live with integrity so others “see your good deeds and glorify God” (Matthew 5:16).
  3. In Worship:
    • Like David, “bless the Lord at all times” (Psalm 34:1).

Prayer Focus:
“Lord, strip me of every trace of pride. Let my life be a mirror reflecting Your glory alone. Forgive me for times I’ve stolen Your praise. Use me as a vessel for Your honor, in Jesus’ name. Amen.”

Final Warning & Encouragement

  • Terrible consequence: “It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God” (Hebrews 10:31).
  • Beautiful reward: “The meek shall inherit the earth” (Matthew 5:5).

Bottom Line:
You are nothing without God but with Him, you are everything He destined you to be. Walk humbly, and He will exalt you in due time (1 Peter 5:6).

“Not unto us, O Lord, not unto us, but unto Thy name give glory!” (Psalm 115:1)
