OPEN HEAVEN 5 JUNE 2025 TODAY DEVOTIONAL

TOPIC: TRUE COMMITMENT TO GOD

MEMORISE:

He that observeth the wind shall not sow; and he that regardeth the clouds shall not reap.
Ecclesiastes 11:4

READ: Luke 21:1-4

1 And he looked up, and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury.
2 And he saw also a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites.
3 And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all:
4 For all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God: but she of her penury hath cast in all the living that she had.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 5 JUNE 2025 TODAY MESSAGE

Many years ago, God spoke to me while I was preaching, and I shared it with the congregation. He said, “There is someone here; three breakthroughs are coming for you. When the first comes, 100% of the proceeds should be given to Me. When the second comes, you are to split it 50-50 between Me and you. The third one will be all yours.” Some days later, a widow brought some money to me and said that it was the proceed of the first breakthrough God had mentioned. Because I knew she was struggling financially, I refused to collect the money, insisting that God may not have been referring to her. She insisted that I collect it, and I eventually did. I kept the money somewhere, ready to return it to her whenever she realised that she was not the one the prophecy was about.

After some time, she returned and said, “Daddy, this is 50% of the second breakthrough.” | collected it, prayed for her, and kept that also. A while later, she came back to me and said, “Daddy, the bank that said my husband owed them some money before he died called me recently to apologise. You know how I have been struggling to pay back the debt; however, they said that they just discovered that my husband was not owing them. They mentioned that they were the ones owing him a lot of money, and now, they have paid me everything.” She heard God’s message and knew without a doubt that He was talking about her. She obeyed His instruction, even though it was not convenient, and she experienced greater breakthroughs.

Some people want to be comfortable financially and have more time before they can serve God. They want to have a better job before they pay their tithes. The widow in today’s Bible reading proved her commitment to God by giving her all when it wasn’t convenient. People who always want to wait until they are comfortable before they serve God often don’t get to serve Him at all. Paul told Timothy to preach the gospel in season and out of season (2 Timothy 4:2). ‘Out of season’ refers to inconvenient moments, and those moments test our commitment to God.

Beloved, you don’t prove your commitment to God when it is convenient for you to obey Him.

Honour and obey God in season and out of season, and you will experience His overflowing blessings.

KEY POINT:

Don’t wait for a convenient time to serve God; give Him your all NOW

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 5 JUNE 2025 COMMENTARY

The Test of Inconvenient Obedience

God often speaks to us in ways that require immediate obedience, even when it doesn’t make sense or seems inconvenient. The widow in today’s devotional and the one in Luke 21 demonstrated radical faithby giving when it was costly. Their stories teach us that true commitment to God is proven in difficult moments, not comfortable ones.

1. The Principle of Firstfruit Obedience

A. The Prophetic Instruction (Divine Test)

  • God revealed that three breakthroughs were coming for someone.
    • First breakthrough: 100% to God.
    • Second breakthrough: 50% to God, 50% to the recipient.
    • Third breakthrough: 100% to the recipient.
  • struggling widow believed it was for her and obeyed despite her lack.

B. The Power of Immediate Submission

  1. First Test (100% Surrender)
    • She gave everything from her first breakthrough.
    • Human reasoning would say, “Keep it—you’re poor!”
    • But she trusted God’s voice over her circumstances.
  2. Second Test (50% Surrender)
    • She again obeyed, splitting her blessing with God.
    • This showed continued faithfulness, not just a one-time act.
  3. Third Breakthrough (Full Restoration)
    • debt cancellation miracle—the bank admitted they owed her late husband.
    • Her obedience unlocked overflowing blessings.

Lesson:

  • Delayed obedience = Disobedience.
  • God’s instructions often test our willingness to trust Him first.

2. Biblical Examples of Inconvenient Faith

A. The Widow’s Mite (Luke 21:1-4)

  • She gave “all her living”—her last coins.
  • Jesus praised her because she gave out of lack, not surplus.

B. Abraham’s Sacrifice of Isaac (Genesis 22)

  • God tested Abraham with a costly demand.
  • His obedience secured God’s covenant blessing.

C. The Disciples Leaving Their Nets (Matthew 4:18-22)

  • They followed Jesus immediately, abandoning their livelihood.

Key Insight:

  • God’s greatest blessings follow our most difficult obediences.

3. Why We Must Obey in “Out of Season” Moments

A. Excuses People Make to Delay Obedience

  1. “I’ll tithe when I earn more.”
  2. “I’ll serve God after I settle my career/family.”
  3. “I can’t give now; times are hard.”

B. The Danger of Waiting for Convenience

  • Ecclesiastes 11:4 warns: If you wait for perfect conditions, you’ll never sow or reap.
  • Many never serve God because they’re always “waiting for a better time.”

C. Serving God “In Season and Out of Season” (2 Timothy 4:2)

  • “In season” = When it’s easy.
  • “Out of season” = When it’s hard.
  • True faithfulness is proven in hardship.

4. How to Cultivate Immediate Obedience

A. Recognize God’s Voice

  • The widow knew the prophecy was for her.
  • Pray for discernment to recognize God’s instructions.

B. Act in Faith, Not Fear

  • Fear says, “What if I lose everything?”
  • Faith says, “God will provide.”

C. Start Small If Necessary

  • If you can’t give much, give something (Mark 12:43-44).
  • God honors willingness over amount.

D. Expect God’s Reward

  • Malachi 3:10: “Test Me now in this… if I will not open the windows of heaven.”
  • The widow’s obedience led to debt cancellation and abundance.

Prayer Declaration

“Father, give me the courage to obey You even when it’s hard. Help me to trust You with my firstfruits, my time, and my resources. Break every spirit of delay and excuses in my life. As I step out in faith, open Your windows of blessing over me, in Jesus’ name. Amen!”

Conclusion: Your Obedience Triggers Breakthroughs

The widow’s story proves:
✔ God’s instructions often defy human logic.
✔ Obedience in lack leads to abundance.
✔ Delayed obedience is disobedience.

Final Challenge:

  • Is God asking you to give, serve, or step out in faith in an inconvenient season?
  • Don’t wait for the “perfect time”—obey now and watch God move!
