OPEN HEAVEN 6 FEBRUARY 2026 DEVOTIONAL TODAY

TOPIC: MAINTAIN YOUR FREEDOM I

MEMORISE:
And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.
Ephesians 5:11

READ: John 5:5-14:
5 And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years.
6 When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?
7 The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.
8 Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.
9 And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath.

10 The Jews therefore said unto him that was cured, It is the sabbath day: it is not lawful for thee to carry thy bed.
11 He answered them, He that made me whole, the same said unto me, Take up thy bed, and walk.
12 Then asked they him, What man is that which said unto thee, Take up thy bed, and walk?
13 And he that was healed wist not who it was: for Jesus had conveyed himself away, a multitude being in that place.
14 Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 6 FEBRUARY 2026 MESSAGE TODAY

When God proclaims deliverance, He is saying to the taskmaster, the devil, “Let your slaves go, and if you don’t, i’ll deal with you.” The devil has no choice but to obey immediately. If you have suffered any form of satanic attack, whether oppression, repression, vexation, obsession, or possession, I decree that this is your season of total freedom. In the name above all other names, begin to walk in freedom.

Today, I want to discuss some ways a fellow can remain delivered from the devil’s attacks and continue to walk in freedom.

Although deliverance from satanic bondage doesn’t require any monetary payment, it comes at a cost. The first price a fellow must pay to walk in freedom is total surrender to Jesus. Despite the long time he had spent in insanity, the madman of Gadara surrendered to Jesus. He longed for freedom, and the day he saw the One who could set him free, he ran forward, surrendered himself, and received his healing (Mark 5:1-20).

Likewise, you must surrender completely to Jesus if you want to continue walking in liberty. You cannot remain in the devil’s camp and expect to be free from bondage; you cannot give in to his temptations and expect him to stay away from you. People who toy with sin attract demons, and demons come with different kinds of bondage.

I discussed five of them over the past few days.

In today’s Bible reading, Jesus healed a man who had an infirmity for 38 years. The devil and his forces were behind this long-lasting ailment, and the man suffered because of their activities. After Jesus healed him, we discovered what gave the devil room to afflict the man: sin. After he was healed, Jesus told him to sin no more, else a worse sickness will come into his life (John 5:14).

When someone who is delivered from demonic possession returns to the sin that gave the devil room to possess him or her in the first place, the fellow will end up worse than before (Luke 11:24-26).

If a person becomes possessed by a demon of sexual perversion through watching pornography and God delivers him or her, that person must never return to watching it. If eating too much opened the door to the demon of gluttony into a fellow’s life, that fellow must shut that door once he or she is delivered in order to maintain his or her freedom.

Beloved, Jesus has paid the price for your deliverance, but it is your responsibility to maintain your freedom.

ACTION POINT:

If you have any habit or secret sin that can open you up to the enemy’s attacks, ask God to deliver you and seek counsel from a genuine minister of God.

HYMN 58: MY HOPE IS BUILT ON NOTHING ELSE

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 6 FEBRUARY 2026 COMMENTARY

MEMORISE: Ephesians 5:11
“And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.”
This memory verse is not a passive suggestion but a proactive command for maintaining deliverance. It prescribes a two-fold action: first, a decisive separation from the patterns and practices (sins) that constitute “works of darkness”; second, a courageous confrontation of those very works by the standard of God’s truth. Freedom is preserved by both personal holiness and spiritual authority.

BIBLE READING: John 5:5-14
This passage is a masterclass on the source and sustainability of deliverance. Jesus heals a man with a 38-year infirmity, directly confronting the “works of darkness” (the sickness). However, the crucial moment comes afterward. Jesus finds him and issues a solemn warning: “Sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you.” This establishes that the man’s past sin was the legal ground for the enemy’s long-term affliction. True, lasting freedom therefore depends on breaking alliance with that sin.

The Proclamation of Deliverance

The devotional opens with a powerful declaration of God’s absolute authority over the powers of darkness. When God proclaims deliverance for His child, it is a sovereign decree to the devil, much like His command to Pharaoh: “Let my people go.” It is an order backed by the full force of divine power. The decree that “this is your season of total freedom” is an apostolic announcement, invoking the victory of Calvary to shatter every form of satanic bondage previously discussed: oppression, repression, vexation, obsession, and possession. The instruction to “begin to walk in freedom” is a call to actively appropriate this proclaimed liberty by faith, even before circumstances fully align.

The Foundational Price: Total Surrender

While salvation and deliverance are free gifts of grace, Daddy Adeboye rightly states they “come at a cost.” The primary cost is not money, but sovereignty. The Gadarene demoniac (Mark 5) illustrates this: his deliverance began the moment he ran to and surrendered before Jesus, even in his broken state.

  • Surrender is the Exchange of Masters: You cannot be delivered from Satan’s camp while remaining in it. Surrender is the act of defecting from the kingdom of darkness to the Kingdom of Light (Colossians 1:13). It is a conscious, complete transfer of allegiance.
  • Surrender Closes Legal Doors: “People who toy with sin attract demons.” Toying with sin is maintaining fellowship with darkness (Ephesians 5:11). It signals to the enemy that his claim is still valid. Total surrender to Jesus renounces all former treaties with sin, revoking the enemy’s legal rights.

The Key to Remaining Delivered: Severing the Root

The core of this teaching is found in the analysis of John 5:14. Jesus directly links the man’s 38-year infirmity (“works of darkness”) to a specific sin in his life. The deliverance (healing) was instantaneous by grace, but the freedom was conditional on his future conduct.

  1. Diagnosis: The enemy often uses a specific, habitual sin as a legal “room” or doorway to afflict a life. Until that doorway is permanently shut, deliverance may be temporary.
  2. The Grave Warning: Jesus’ warning—”something worse may happen”—is expanded in Luke 11:24-26. A delivered but empty life, not filled with God and still attached to its old doorways, becomes a target for a reinforced demonic assault. The “last state is worse than the first” because the enemy returns with greater aggression and the person’s spiritual sensitivity is often dulled.
  3. The Principle of the Shut Door: Freedom is maintained by practical holiness. As Daddy Adeboye explains:
    • If pornography opened the door to sexual perversion, freedom requires never returning to it.
    • If gluttony opened the door to a spirit of lack or sickness, freedom requires disciplined eating.
This is the practical outworking of having “no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness.” You must identify and permanently shut the specific door that allowed the enemy in.

The Shared Responsibility of Freedom

The concluding statement is vital: “Jesus has paid the price for your deliverance, but it is your responsibility to maintain your freedom.”

  • Christ’s Work (Done): He achieved total victory on the cross. He proclaims deliverance. He provides the power and authority for the initial breakthrough.
  • Our Walk (Ongoing): We maintain freedom through daily choices: sustained surrender, radical obedience, and militant rejection of the sins that once bound us. We “reprove” the works of darkness by living in the opposite spirit.

Practical Steps to Walk in Sustained Freedom

  1. Identify Your Doorway: In prayer, ask the Holy Spirit to reveal the specific sin pattern or agreement that gave the enemy ground in your area of bondage.
  2. Publicly Renounce It: In prayer, verbally renounce that sin and that spirit in Jesus’ name. Break every covenant with it. This is you reproving it (Ephesians 5:11).
  3. Establish Guardrails: Put drastic, practical measures in place to avoid that doorway (e.g., accountability software, financial limits, ending toxic relationships). This is having “no fellowship.”
  4. Be Filled Continually: Do not leave a void. Deliberately fill your life with the Word, worship, fellowship, and service. A heart filled with Christ has no room for the enemy’s return.
  5. Walk in Your New Identity: Consciously “walk in freedom” by speaking and acting as the delivered, redeemed person you are in Christ, not as the former victim.

Prayer for Sustained Freedom:
“Lord Jesus, I thank You for Your proclamation of total freedom over my life. I surrender completely to You as my Lord. I renounce and turn away from the specific sin of [name it] that gave the enemy a foothold. I shut that door permanently by the power of Your blood. Now, Holy Spirit, fill me afresh. Empower me to have no fellowship with the works of darkness but to walk daily in the light of my deliverance. I take responsibility to guard my freedom and I rely on Your grace to do so, in Jesus’ mighty name.”
