OPEN HEAVEN 7 FEBRUARY 2026 DEVOTIONAL TODAY
TOPIC: MAINTAIN YOUR FREEDOM II
MEMORISE:
He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.
Psalm 107:20
READ: 2 Corinthians 3:16-18
16 Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away.
17 Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
18 But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.
RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 7 FEBRUARY 2026 MESSAGE TODAY
The devil is a thief, so when he visits a person or family, his agenda is to steal, kill, and destroy. Unlike the devil, Jesus has come so that you can enjoy abundant life (John 10:10).
Today, I want to share some more ways a person who has been delivered from the devil’s bondage can maintain his or her freedom and truly enjoy the abundant life that Jesus gives.
It is sad when someone who has been delivered by the mighty hand of God loses his or her liberty because of ignorance, carelessness, or foolishness.
People perish when there is no knowledge (Hosea 4:6). They lose what they have received when they don’t apply the divine principles that are required to sustain it. The Son sets free, and whoever the Son makes free is free indeed (John 8:36). God doesn’t give temporary deliverance; He gives total freedom, but a fellow who has been set free must learn how to walk on the road of freedom.
2 Corinthians 3:17 says that where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. Wherever the devil may be operating in, when the Spirit of the Lord comes on the scene, freedom comes. To sustain your freedom, however, you must allow the Holy Spirit to guide you in all you do. Let Him be Lord of your thoughts, words, and actions. Where He is Lord, no demon can thrive.
Knowing the truth is another way to maintain your liberty. John 8:32 says that you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. Do you know the truth about Jesus’ payment for your freedom? Are you walking in this truth? To keep walking in freedom, you must know the truth in God’s word and immerse yourself in it so that it fills your heart.
His word is the truth, and when you know the truth, it will make you free. This word must become your daily bread. Joshua 1:8 reveals that a major key to having good success in life is meditating on God’s word day and night. To keep the devil perpetually out of your life, let God’s word dwell in you richly in all wisdom (Colossians 3:16).
Job spoke about how highly he esteemed the word of God in Job 23:12. Beloved, how important is God’s word to you? How highly do you esteem God’s instructions and directions? If you want to sustain the liberty you have received from God, you must allow Jesus Christ to be your Lord and place topmost priority on God’s word.
KEY POINT:
To maintain your freedom, you must know the truth, surrender to the leadership of the Holy Spirit, and meditate on God’s word constantly.

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 7 FEBRUARY 2026 COMMENTARY
MEMORISE: Psalm 107:20
“He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.”
This verse encapsulates the ongoing mechanism of sustained freedom. God’s initial deliverance comes by His Word (His decree, the gospel), and our continued liberty is maintained by that same Word dwelling within us. It is the healing, delivering truth that must be continually received to keep destruction at bay.
BIBLE READING: 2 Corinthians 3:16-18
This passage reveals the transformative process of a life that remains free. Turning to the Lord removes the “veil” of ignorance and hardness that the enemy uses to blind minds (v.16). But the key is verse 17: “where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.” This liberty is not a static state but a progressive transformation “from glory to glory” (v.18) as we behold the Lord and are changed by His Spirit. Sustained freedom is therefore relational and dynamic, dependent on the presence and lordship of the Holy Spirit.
The Agenda of the Thief vs. The Gift of the Saviour
Daddy Adeboye begins by re-establishing the core conflict: the devil’s singular agenda is theft, death, and destruction. In stark contrast, Christ’s purpose is abundant life (John 10:10). This devotional moves from the receipt of deliverance to the enjoyment of its abundance. The tragic loss of this liberty through “ignorance, carelessness, or foolishness” is framed as a preventable disaster.
The Foundation: Understanding God’s Deliverance
A critical pillar is laid: “God doesn’t give temporary deliverance; He gives total freedom.” The freedom in Christ is perfect and complete (John 8:36). The problem is never with the quality of God’s gift, but with our stewardship of it. Losing it is not God revoking His gift, but a believer wandering from the environment where that gift is protected and flourishes—much like an emancipated slave choosing to return to the plantation.
The Two Pillars for Maintaining Freedom
Daddy Adeboye provides two non-negotiable, intertwined principles for sustaining liberty.
Pillar 1: The Lordship of the Holy Spirit (The Presence of Liberty)
- The Principle: “Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty” (2 Corinthians 3:17). Freedom is not a place you visit; it is the atmosphere created by a Person’s presence.
- The Application: To sustain freedom, you must “allow the Holy Spirit to guide you in all you do. Let Him be Lord of your thoughts, words, and actions.”
- The Promise: “Where He is Lord, no demon can thrive.” This is because the enemy cannot operate in the territory where the Spirit’s authority is fully acknowledged and obeyed. Maintaining freedom means daily submitting your decisions, reactions, and desires to the Spirit’s scrutiny and direction.
Pillar 2: The Indwelling of God’s Word (The Truth of Liberty)
- The Principle: “You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32). Knowledge of truth is not intellectual assent but revelatory understanding that reshapes identity and behavior.
- The Application: This requires knowing the truth of Christ’s finished work and immersing yourself in Scripture so it “fills your heart.” It must become “your daily bread.” Daddy Adeboye cites Joshua 1:8 and Colossians 3:16, highlighting meditation and rich indwelling as active processes. The Word is a displacing force; it crowds out the lies that once formed the enemy’s strongholds.
- The Heart Posture: He references Job 23:12 to probe our esteem for God’s Word. Is it a priority or an accessory? The degree to which we value, cherish, and obey God’s instructions determines the strength of our liberty’s fortress.
The Integrated Life of Sustained Freedom
These two pillars are one structure. The Holy Spirit is the author of Scripture and He guides according to the Word. The Word is the sword of the Spirit (Ephesians 6:17). Therefore:
- Freedom is sustained in a Spirit-led, Word-saturated life. You cannot claim the Spirit’s lordship while neglecting His Word, and you cannot truly apply the Word without the Spirit’s illumination and power.
- The Question for Self-Audit: Daddy Adeboye’s closing questions are diagnostic: How important is God’s word to you? Your answer reveals your vulnerability level. A low priority for the Word is a high vulnerability to re-infestation.
- The Ultimate Requirement: It all converges on the lordship of Jesus Christ, who is the Living Word. Placing “topmost priority on God’s word” is how you place topmost priority on Christ Himself.
Practical Steps to Walk the Road of Freedom
- Daily Invocation: Each morning, consciously invite the Holy Spirit to be Lord over your thoughts, words, and actions for the day. Submit your plans to Him.
- Strategic Immersion: Don’t just read the Word; study it with the question, “What truth here protects my freedom?” Meditate on key verses about your identity in Christ and His victory.
- Obedience as Maintenance: When the Spirit prompts or the Word instructs, immediate obedience is an act of fortress-building. Disobedience is a breach in the wall.
- Environment Check: Regularly assess your life. Are you in environments (relationships, media, habits) where the Spirit is welcome and the Truth is honored? If not, you are in enemy territory.
Prayer for Sustained Liberty:
“Heavenly Father, thank You for my total deliverance in Christ. I invite the Holy Spirit to be the absolute Lord of my life today—guide my thoughts, my words, and my actions. I consecrate my mind and heart to Your Word. Let it dwell in me richly, uproot every lie, and fortify my spirit. Help me to esteem Your instructions above all else. By Your Spirit and through Your Truth, keep me walking in the abundant, perpetual liberty Jesus purchased for me. My freedom is in Your presence and Your truth; let me never wander from them. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
