TOPIC: MULTIPLIED PEACE

MEMORISE
Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.
Psalm 119:165

READ: Daniel 6:25-28

25 Then king Darius wrote unto all people, nations, and languages, that dwell in all the earth; Peace be multiplied unto you.
26 I make a decree, That in every dominion of my kingdom men tremble and fear before the God of Daniel: for he is the living God, and stedfast for ever, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed, and his dominion shall be even unto the end.
27 He delivereth and rescueth, and he worketh signs and wonders in heaven and in earth, who hath delivered Daniel from the power of the lions.
28 So this Daniel prospered in the reign of Darius, and in the reign of Cyrus the Persian.

RCCG OPEN HEAVENS 8 APRIL 2026 TODAY PRAYERS

In some cultures, kings often greet their subjects by saying, “Peace be multiplied unto you.” In Daniel 6:25. when King Darius was writing to all his subjects after Daniel had escaped the lions’ den unhurt, he started his letter with, “Peace be multiplied unto you.”

Also, in the New Testament, each time Apostle Paul wrote to the various churches, he would start by greeting them, “Grace be unto you and peace from God our Father” (Romans 1:7, 1 Corinthians 1:3, 2 Corinthians 1:2, Galatians 1:3). Likewise, Peter, in his letters, often wrote, “Peace be multiplied unto you” (1 Peter 1:2 and 2 Peter 1:2).

All of these greetings make us understand that peace can increase, and it can be multiplied. Even if you feel that you already have peace and there is nothing to worry about, you should always pray that your peace will be multiplied. If peace can bring so much rest, multiplied peace can bring much more.

Years ago, I was returning from Britain to Nigeria on the same flight as a great man of God and his wife. According to his testimony, which I heard later on, he told his wife during the flight that since Daddy G.O. was on the plane with them, there was absolutely nothing to worry about. When we were halfway through the journey, the plane encountered severe turbulence, and the entire cabin began to shake.

According to the man of God, he got up at that moment, looked at where I was seated on the plane, and saw that I was fast asleep. He then returned to his seat and told his wife that there was absolutely nothing to worry about because “Daddy is sleeping.” He said that seeing me sleeping at that moment multiplied the peace he already had.

When you experience multiplied peace from God, every form of trouble or fear will be far from you.

In John 14:27, Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” I pray that the peace of the Lord will be multiplied unto you today, in Jesus’ name.

Beloved, the secret to enjoying multiplied peace from God is revealed in today’s memory verse – loving Him and His law. If you indeed want your peace to be multiplied, you must love the Lord with all your heart, soul, and mind (Matthew 22:37), and obey His commandments at all times.

PRAYER POINT

Father, please multiply Your peace in all areas of my life, in Jesus’ name.

OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL 8 APRIL 2026 COMMENTARY

MEMORISE: Psalm 119:165

“Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.”
This verse reveals a direct connection between loving God’s Word and experiencing supernatural peace. The peace described here is not just calm—it is “great peace,” a peace so profound that nothing can trip you up, offend you, or cause you to stumble. It is peace that holds you steady no matter what shakes around you.

BIBLE READING: Daniel 6:25-28

This passage records the aftermath of Daniel’s night in the lions’ den. King Darius, who had been tricked into throwing Daniel to the lions, spent the night fasting and sleepless, tormented by anxiety. At dawn, he rushed to the den and called out to Daniel with a trembling voice. When Daniel answered peacefully, revealing that God had shut the lions’ mouths, the king’s terror turned to worship. He then wrote a decree to all peoples, nations, and languages, beginning with the words: “Peace be multiplied unto you.” This greeting from a pagan king, coming right after a life-or-death miracle, shows that peace is not just the absence of trouble—it is something that can increase, multiply, and spread to others when God’s power is displayed.

The Secret of Multiplied Peace

In today’s devotional, Pastor E.A. Adeboye draws our attention to a phrase that appears throughout Scripture: “Peace be multiplied.” This is not just a polite greeting—it is a spiritual reality. Peace is not a fixed commodity. It can grow. It can increase. It can be multiplied in your life until trouble and fear have no room to operate.

Peace That Multiplies

The devotional points out that both kings and apostles used this greeting. King Darius, after witnessing Daniel’s deliverance, wrote to his entire kingdom: “Peace be multiplied unto you.” Paul began nearly every letter with “Grace and peace” from God the Father. Peter opened his letters with the exact phrase: “Peace be multiplied.”

Why this emphasis? Because they understood that peace is not static. You can have peace today, but you need more tomorrow. The challenges of life don’t stay the same—they grow, they multiply, they intensify. If your peace stays at the same level, it will eventually be overwhelmed. But if your peace multiplies, it will always be greater than your problems.

The Story That Proves the Point

Daddy Adeboye shares a personal testimony that beautifully illustrates multiplied peace. He was on a flight from Britain to Nigeria with another great man of God and his wife. Early in the journey, this man told his wife, “Since Daddy G.O. is on the plane with us, there is absolutely nothing to worry about.” He already had peace because of who was on board.

Then, halfway through the journey, severe turbulence hit. The plane shook violently. Panic would have gripped most passengers. But at that moment, the man of God looked over at where Daddy Adeboye was seated—and saw him fast asleep.

He returned to his wife and said, “There is absolutely nothing to worry about because Daddy is sleeping.”

Notice what happened here: the peace he already had was multiplied. Seeing someone completely undisturbed in the middle of the storm increased his own calm. The turbulence hadn’t stopped. The shaking continued. But his peace grew because he saw evidence that peace was possible.

The Source of This Peace

The devotional makes clear that this multiplied peace comes from God, not from human optimism or denial. Jesus Himself said in John 14:27: “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you.”

There is a difference between worldly peace and Jesus’ peace:

  • Worldly peace depends on circumstances. When things are good, you feel peaceful. When things fall apart, peace evaporates.
  • Jesus’ peace depends on relationship. It is rooted in who He is, not what is happening around you. It can remain steady even when everything shakes.

How to Access Multiplied Peace

The memory verse gives us the secret: “Great peace have they which love thy law.” If you want your peace to multiply, you must love the Lord with all your heart, soul, and mind, and you must obey His commandments.

This is not about earning peace through good behavior. It is about positioning yourself in the flow of God’s presence. When you love God’s Word, you fill your mind with His promises. When you obey His commands, you walk in His protection. When you spend time in His presence, you absorb His nature.

A person who lives like this becomes like Daddy Adeboye on that plane—asleep in the storm. Not because they are ignoring reality, but because they know the One who controls reality.

What Multiplied Peace Looks Like

When peace multiplies in your life, several things happen:

  1. Fear Loses Its Grip: The things that used to terrify you no longer have power. You can face bad news without panic. You can hear threatening reports without collapsing.
  2. Trouble Doesn’t Shake You: Like Daddy Adeboye sleeping through turbulence, you become steady in situations that would normally cause chaos. Your peace becomes a testimony to others.
  3. You Become a Source of Peace for Others: When the man of God saw Daddy Adeboye sleeping, his own peace multiplied. Your multiplied peace doesn’t just help you—it spreads to everyone watching your life.
  4. Nothing Offends You: The memory verse says “nothing shall offend them.” When peace multiplies, you stop being easily upset. Small slights don’t ruin your day. Big disappointments don’t destroy your faith. You are anchored too deep for the waves to move you.

Practical Steps to Multiply Your Peace

  1. Love God’s Word: Not just read it—love it. Meditate on it day and night. Let it fill your thoughts. The more of God’s Word is in you, the more of God’s peace will guard you.
  2. Obey His Commands: Disobedience creates inner turmoil. Guilt, conviction, and fear are the children of sin. But when you walk in obedience, you walk in the peace of a clear conscience.
  3. Practice His Presence: Like Joshua in the tabernacle, learn to linger with God. The more time you spend in His presence, the more His peace rubs off on you. You begin to carry an atmosphere of calm wherever you go.
  4. Watch Your Associations: Peace is contagious, but so is panic. Stay close to people who carry God’s peace. Their calm in the storm will multiply your own.
  5. Sleep in the Storm: When trouble comes, make a deliberate decision to rest in God. Instead of worrying, worship. Instead of panicking, pray. Your response of faith will multiply peace in your heart and become a witness to others.

Conclusion: Your Peace Can Grow

You may have peace today, but God wants to multiply it. He doesn’t want you just surviving the storms—He wants you sleeping through them. He doesn’t want you just managing your anxiety—He wants you so anchored that nothing offends you.

The secret is simple but profound: love Him, love His Word, and walk in obedience. As you do, peace will not just stay the same—it will grow. It will multiply. It will become great peace.

And one day, someone will look at you in the middle of their storm and say, “Look at them—fast asleep. There is nothing to worry about.”

Pray this:
“Father, I thank You that You are the God of peace. Forgive me for the times I have let worry and fear steal my calm. Today, I ask You to multiply Your peace in my life. Let it grow beyond my circumstances. Let it become great peace that nothing can shake. Help me to love Your Word and obey Your commands so that Your peace flows freely in me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

Action Steps:

  • Memorize Psalm 119:165: Write it on a card and keep it with you. Repeat it whenever you feel anxiety rising.
  • Practice the “sleeping in the storm” response: The next time trouble comes, pause and ask, “How would I respond if I had perfect peace?” Then choose that response.
  • Examine your obedience: Is there any area of disobedience blocking your peace? Confess it and return to walking in God’s commands.
  • Be a peace multiplier: Look for someone today who is anxious and share this message with them. Let your peace become their peace.
