OPEN HEAVEN 12 OCTOBER 2025 TODAY DEVOTIONAL

    TOPIC: LIVING BEYOND LIMITATIONS

    MEMORISE:
And God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water; and she went, and filled the bottle with water, and gave the lad drink.
    Genesis 21:19

    READ: Genesis 21:13-19:
13 And also of the son of the bondwoman will I make a nation, because he is thy seed.
14 And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and took bread, and a bottle of water, and gave it unto Hagar, putting it on her shoulder, and the child, and sent her away: and she departed, and wandered in the wilderness of Beersheba.
15 And the water was spent in the bottle, and she cast the child under one of the shrubs.
16 And she went, and sat her down over against him a good way off, as it were a bowshot: for she said, Let me not see the death of the child. And she sat over against him, and lift up her voice, and wept.

17 And God heard the voice of the lad; and the angel of God called to Hagar out of heaven, and said unto her, What aileth thee, Hagar? fear not; for God hath heard the voice of the lad where he is.
18 Arise, lift up the lad, and hold him in thine hand; for I will make him a great nation.
19 And God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water; and she went, and filled the bottle with water, and gave the lad drink.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 12 OCTOBER 2025 TODAY MESSAGE

Elijah was a man who experienced the help of the Holy Spirit to rise above human limitations. In a time of grievous famine, he enjoyed good food and water (1 Kings 17:3-6). While others were dying of hunger, he enjoyed supernatural provisions throughout the famine. When you have an encounter with the Holy Spirit, you will receive divine instructions that will keep you from experiencing some hardships that other people experience. In times of famine, you will be satisfied, and you will not be ashamed in the evil time (Psalm 37:19).

In 1 Kings 18:44-46, when the Lord sent rain to Israel, Elijah outran the chariot of the king of Israel. Kings always have the best and fastest chariots and horses in the land, yet Elijah outran the best of the best because the Holy Spirit was upon him. I pray in the name above every other name that the hand of the Lord will rest upon you, and you will begin to live above natural limitations.

Ignorance is one of the worst limitations any human being can face. A lot of times, people do not recognise the resources that can save and deliver them, even when they are under their noses. This puts a lot of people under very terrible limitations. Ephesians 4:18 likens ignorance to darkness and blindness.

In this Scripture, Paul said that some people have their understanding darkened and are alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them because of the blindness of their hearts. When people who can see are in darkness, there is still hope that when light comes, they will see the things that surround them. However, when people who are blind are in darkness, that is another level of darkness altogether.

Ignorance limits people and keeps them from seeing what God has made available to them. In today’s Bible reading, Hagar experienced this kind of limitation until God opened her eyes. When your spiritual eyes are open, you will rise above the limitations that keep others down.

Beloved, you must soak yourself in the word of God so that your spiritual eyes can be open. When you engage with God’s word daily, it will brighten your path and give you the understanding required to journey through life successfully (Psalm 119:105).

I pray that the Lord will open your eyes to see the solutions He has provided to your challenges and remove every veil of ignorance that limits you from enjoying His fullness today, in Jesus’ name.

    PRAYER POINT

Dear Lord, please open my eyes to see the abundant resources You have made available to me, in Jesus’ name.

    BIBLE IN ONE YEAR

    Matthew 27-28

HYMN 33: GUIDE ME, O THOU GREAT JEHOVAH!

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 12 OCTOBER 2025 COMMENTARY

    MEMORISE: Genesis 21:19
“And God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water; and she went and filled the bottle with water, and gave the lad drink.”
This verse captures the moment divine revelation dissolves human limitation. The well existed all along, but Hagar’s perception was clouded by despair and ignorance. God’s intervention opened her eyes to the provision that was already within her reach.

    BIBLE READING: Genesis 21:13-19
This passage is a powerful typology of spiritual blindness and revelation:
    v. 14-16: The Problem: Hagar, in her distress and hopelessness, could not see the solution (the well) nearby. She was limited by her perception.
    v. 17: The Prayer: God heard the voice of the lad and called out to Hagar.
    v. 19: The Breakthrough: God opened her eyes, and she saw the provision that had always been there. Her limitation was broken.

Rising Above Limitation Through Divine Insight

Pastor E.A. Adeboye teaches that the greatest limitations we face are often not external but internal—primarily the limitation of ignorance. Using the examples of Elijah and Hagar, he demonstrates that the Holy Spirit, through the Word, provides supernatural insight and ability that lifts the believer above natural constraints.

The Twofold Ministry of the Holy Spirit Against Limitation

    • The Holy Spirit Provides Supernatural Sustenance (1 Kings 17:3-6):
While a nation suffered lack, Elijah enjoyed abundance because he obeyed the divine instruction given by the Spirit. The Spirit gives strategic guidance that bypasses systemic crises and places you in a place of provision.
    • The Holy Spirit Imparts Supernatural Ability (1 Kings 18:46):
Elijah outran a chariot, defying natural human limitations. The “hand of the Lord” upon him represents the anointing of the Spirit that empowers a believer to perform beyond natural capacity, be it in business, ministry, academics, or health.

    The Greatest Limitation: Ignorance

Ephesians 4:18 describes ignorance as a state of spiritual blindness and darkness that alienates from the life of God. It is not a lack of information but a lack of revelation—the inability to perceive and appropriate the resources God has already provided in Christ.

    • Hagar’s Ignorance (Genesis 21:19): The well of water was present, but her eyes were holden. Many believers are dying of thirst spiritually, emotionally, and financially, unaware of the “wells” of provision, promise, and power God has already placed within their reach.
    • The Consequence: Ignorance breeds despair, shame, and a sense of abandonment, as seen with Hagar. It causes you to focus on the problem (the crying child) instead of the solution (the well).

How to Break the Limitation of Ignorance

    1. Soak Yourself in the Word of God (Psalm 119:105):
The Word of God is a lamp and a light. It illuminates your path, revealing obstacles and opportunities. Consistent engagement with Scripture is the primary way God opens our eyes to His provisions and promises.

    2. Pray for Revelation (Ephesians 1:17-18):
Follow the Apostle Paul’s prayer. Ask specifically that the “Father of glory” would give you “the spirit of wisdom and revelation” in the knowledge of Him, that the “eyes of your understanding” would be enlightened.

    3. Obey Divine Instructions:
Elijah’s provision was tied to his obedience to go to the Brook Cherith (1 Kings 17:3). Often, the key that unlocks provision is obedience to a specific word from God, even if it seems illogical.

    4. Depend on the Holy Spirit:
The Holy Spirit is your Teacher and Guide (John 14:26). Rely on Him to lead you into all truth and to show you things to come (John 16:13). Cultivate a sensitivity to His promptings.

    The Result of Liberating Revelation

    When God opens your eyes:

    • You see solutions where others see problems.
    • You find provision in the place of need.
    • You operate with wisdom that confounds the world.
    • You live above the limitations that bind others.

Conclusion: Receive Sight for Your Provision

    Pray this:
“Father of glory, I ask today for the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of You. Open the eyes of my heart, Lord! Dissolve every veil of ignorance and limitation from my mind. Show me the wells of salvation, provision, and power You have already placed in my life. Help me to soak in Your Word and obey Your voice, that I may live like Elijah—sustained and empowered by Your Spirit, far above all natural limitations, in Jesus’ name. Amen.”

    Action Steps:

    1. Identify an Area of Limitation: Where do you feel stuck, hopeless, or in lack? Write it down.
    2. Scripture Search: Find 3-5 promises in God’s Word that address that specific area.
    3. Pray for Revelation: Pray those scriptures back to God, asking Him to open your eyes to see how they manifest in your life.
    4. Obey Promptly: Act immediately on any instruction the Holy Spirit gives you concerning your situation.

Remember: Your provision is already nearby. Your breakthrough is within reach. The same God who opened Hagar’s eyes will open yours to see the solution He has already provided.

“And God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water…” (Genesis 21:19). Your moment of sight is coming.

OPEN HEAVEN 11 OCTOBER 2025 TODAY DEVOTIONAL

TOPIC: GOD DOESN’T IGNORE TRUE WORSHIPPERS

    MEMORISE:
But as for me, I will come into thy house in the multitude of thy mercy: and in thy fear will I worship toward thy holy temple.
    Psalms 5:7

    READ: Matthew 8:2-4:
2 And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.

3 And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.

4 And Jesus saith unto him, See thou tell no man; but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 11 OCTOBER 2025 TODAY MESSAGE

In Matthew 15:21-28, when a Canaanite woman came to Jesus to ask Him to deliver her daughter from a demon, she came worshipping. I believe that her genuine worship and faith in Jesus Christ helped her obtain the miracle she requested.

In today’s Bible reading, a leper came to Jesus and worshipped Him. Jesus touched him and spoke healing to him; his worship attracted a physical touch from Jesus. The man’s condition was hopeless until he met Jesus and worshipped Him. He bowed down as a leper to worship Jesus; however, by the time he finished worshipping and got up, he had been made whole. Your worship will make you a candidate for God’s personal touch, and when God touches a fellow, his or her life is transformed positively.

    Jesus said in John 4:23:
But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.

God is not seeking part-time worshippers; rather, he is seeking those who will make worship their lifestyle. He wants those who will keep breaking their alabaster box and pouring their sweet fragrance of worship upon Him (Mark 14:3).

When you worship God, you should put all your attention on Him. It is not about what you can get from Him; it is about who He is. When you make God the centre of your life and delight yourself in Him in the place of worship, He will not withhold anything from you.

I have always told my children that everyone else may see miracles happening around them, but worshippers always experience miracles in their lives. When you are a worshipper, the testimonies you read of in the Scriptures and hear about will become your daily experience.

Whenever a true worshipper prays, God is always quick to answer. When you worship, demons flee from you because they cannot dare to stay in a place where God is. This is the explanation for what happened in 1 Samuel 16:23:
And it came to pass, when the evil spirit from God was upon Saul, that David took an harp, and played with his hand: so Saul was refreshed, and was well, and the evil spirit departed from him.

Beloved, live a holy life and spend quality time worshipping God daily for who He is and not just for what you want to gain from Him. When this becomes your lifestyle, you will see Him perform mighty wonders in your life.

    REFLECTION

Do you spend quality time worshipping God every day

    BIBLE IN ONE YEAR

    Matthew 25-26

HYMN 23: TAKE MY LIFE AND LET IT BE

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 11 OCTOBER 2025 COMMENTARY

    MEMORISE: Psalm 5:7
“But as for me, I will come into thy house in the multitude of thy mercy: and in thy fear will I worship toward thy holy temple.”
This verse captures the heart of a true worshipper: one who approaches God based on His mercy, with reverential awe, and with a singular focus on His holiness. It is a declaration of intent to prioritize worship above all else.

    BIBLE READING: Matthew 8:2-4
This passage exemplifies the power of worship to initiate divine encounter:
    v. 2: The Leper’s Approach: He worshipped Him, saying, “Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.”
    v. 3: Jesus’ Response: Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, “I will; be thou clean.”
    v. 4: The Result: Immediately his leprosy was cleansed.
Worship positioned him for a personal touch and instantaneous miracle.

    The Transformative Power of Worship

Pastor E.A. Adeboye illuminates the profound truth that worship is far more than songs; it is a spiritual posture that attracts God’s tangible presence and power. It is the key that unlocks the miraculous and transforms the worshipper’s life from the inside out.

    The Nature of True Worship

    • Worship is God-Centered: True worship is not about our needs but about God’s worthiness. It focuses on “who He is,” not “what we can get.” The Canaanite woman (Matthew 15:22) and the leper began by acknowledging Christ’s lordship and power.
    • Worship is in Spirit and Truth (John 4:23): It transcends ritual; it is a genuine encounter from the heart, aligned with the truth of God’s Word. It is an expression of love, adoration, and reverence for God’s nature and character.
    • Worship is a Lifestyle: God seeks full-time worshippers, not occasional participants. It is a continuous attitude of the heart that manifests in praise, obedience, and the offering of our lives as a living sacrifice (Romans 12:1).

    The Miraculous Outcomes of Worship

    1. It Attracts God’s Personal Touch:
The leper’s worship moved Jesus to do the unthinkable—touch an untouchable. Worship breaks through barriers and positions you for a divine encounter that changes everything. God’s touch brings healing, deliverance, and transformation.

    2. It Makes You a Miracle Magnet:
While others see miracles, worshippers experience them personally. A lifestyle of worship ensures that the testimaries you hear about become your daily reality because you constantly dwell in the environment (God’s presence) where miracles are natural.

    3. It Guarantees Answered Prayer:
When worship precedes petition, it aligns your heart with God’s will and demonstrates faith in His character. It ushers you into the throne room with confidence, making God quick to answer (Hebrews 4:16).

    4. It Releases Deliverance and Freedom:
Demons cannot operate in the atmosphere of pure worship. As David’s worship drove the evil spirit from Saul (1 Samuel 16:23), your worship creates a territory of light that forces darkness to flee. It brings refreshment and wellness to tormented souls.

    5. It Triggers Divine Provision:
When you delight yourself in the Lord in the place of worship, He places His desires in your heart and fulfills them (Psalm 37:4). He withholds no good thing from those who walk uprightly and seek Him (Psalm 84:11).

How to Cultivate a Lifestyle of Worship

    1. Make God Your Focus:
Begin every prayer and day with worship. Magnify His names, attributes, and past faithfulness before presenting your requests.

    2. Offer Your Body as a Living Sacrifice:
Let your entire life—your work, relationships, and choices—be an act of worship offered to God (Romans 12:1).

    3. Be a Truth-Based Worshipper:
Fill your heart with God’s Word so your worship is rooted in the truth of who He is and what He has done.

    4. Worship Through the Storm:
Like Paul and Silas in prison (Acts 16:25), choose to worship in difficult circumstances. This confuses the enemy and invites God’s miraculous intervention.

Warning: The Danger of Performance Worship
Worship that is self-seeking, hypocritical, or designed for public approval is an offense to God (Matthew 15:8-9). God judges the heart, not the outward display.

Conclusion: Become the Worshipper God Seeks

    Pray this:
“Father, I come to You today in spirit and in truth. I worship You for who You are—my Creator, Redeemer, and King. Forgive me for making my needs the focus of my praise. I offer my life as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable unto You. Draw me into deeper intimacy through worship, and let my life become a continuous fragrance of praise to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

    Action Steps:

    1. Daily Worship Session: Dedicate at least 15 minutes each day to worship God with music and Scripture, focusing solely on His character.
    2. Worship First: Before you present your prayer requests, spend time in adoration and thanksgiving.
    3. Study the Names of God: Learn His names (e.g., Jehovah-Rapha, Jehovah-Jireh) and worship Him specifically using them.
    4. Obey Promptly: View every act of obedience as an act of worship.

Remember: God is seeking true worshippers. When you make worship your lifestyle, you position yourself for continuous miracles, divine touch, and unparalleled intimacy with the Father.

“But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.” (John 4:23). Will you be one?

OPEN HEAVEN 10 OCTOBER 2025 TODAY DEVOTIONAL

    TOPIC: THE WORD OF GOD

    MEMORISE:
For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
    Hebrews 4:12

    READ: Psalms 119: 25-27:
25 DALETH. My soul cleaveth unto the dust: quicken thou me according to thy word.
26 I have declared my ways, and thou heardest me: teach me thy statutes.
27 Make me to understand the way of thy precepts: so shall I talk of thy wondrous works.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 10 OCTOBER 2025 TODAY MESSAGE

God’s word is light. Psalm 119:105 says, “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” When light is absent, people stumble and miss their way. I pray that the light of God will brighten your path and guide you through life, in Jesus’ name.

The word of God is also truth. John 17:17 says,
“Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.” When you want to know the truth about anything, search through the Scriptures. When you want to know the truth about your health, don’t keep staring at a medical report; instead, focus on God’s word and believe in what He has said in His word concerning your health. 1 Peter 2:24 says that by His stripes, you were healed. This is a settled matter, and regardless of what any report says, good health and healing is the truth about you.

When you want to know the truth about your finances, read through God’s word, not the economic report or forecast. Economists can say whatever they want to say, but you must choose to believe the word of the Lord. God’s word contains the truth about everything that concerns you.

God’s word is also life (John 6:63). If anything in your life or around you is dead, God’s word can bring it back to life. By His word, Peter’s dead business received a net-breaking, boat-sinking revival (Luke 5:1-7). By His word, the dead son of the widow of Nain jumped back to life (Luke 7:11-15). God’s word is alive.

According to today’s memory verse, His word is living, active, and sharper than any two-edged sword.

Today’s memory verse further tells us that the word of God reveals things that are ordinarily not easy to see or understand. There is nothing hidden under the sun that God’s word cannot unveil (Hebrews 4:13). Apart from unveiling the things that are hidden, God’s word brings peace amid storms.

When Jesus and His disciples were trying to cross to the other side of a sea, they didn’t expect that they would be caught in the middle of a storm. The storm came, and it was so fierce that the disciples thought they would die. They began to panic, but thankfully, Jesus was in the boat, and His word calmed the storm (Mark 4:35- 39).

Beloved, God’s word contains all that you need in life. All you have to do is study it, believe it, meditate on it, and apply it in your daily life.

    KEY POINT

God’s word contains all you need to succeed in life; let it guide you daily.

    BIBLE IN ONE YEAR

    Matthew 23-24

    HYMN 3: ANCIENT WORDS

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 10 OCTOBER 2025 COMMENTARY

    MEMORISE: Hebrews 4:12
“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
This verse reveals the dynamic, living nature of Scripture. It is not a passive text but an active, surgical instrument in the hand of the Holy Spirit, capable of penetrating the deepest parts of our being to bring revelation, conviction, and transformation.

    BIBLE READING: Psalms 119:25-27
This passage models the psalmist’s response to God’s Word:
    v. 25: Revival: “Quicken thou me according to thy word.” A request for the life-giving power of the Word to activate him.
    v. 26-27: Revelation: A prayer for understanding to “see wondrous things” and to know the way of God’s statutes.

The Multifaceted Power of God’s Word

Pastor E.A. Adeboye presents a comprehensive teaching on the nature and function of Scripture. God’s Word is not merely a book; it is the tangible expression of God’s power, character, and will. It is the ultimate tool for navigation, diagnosis, and transformation in the believer’s life.

The Fourfold Nature of God’s Word

    • God’s Word is Light (Psalm 119:105):
It provides illumination and guidance, dispelling the darkness of confusion, error, and fear. Without it, we stumble through life; with it, our path is clearly lit, revealing obstacles and revealing the next step God has for us.
    • God’s Word is Truth (John 17:17):
It is the absolute, final authority and reality against which all other claims must be measured. Medical reports, economic forecasts, and personal feelings are all subjective and temporary; God’s Word is objective, eternal truth. It sanctifies—sets us apart—by aligning our beliefs and lives with reality as God defines it.
    • God’s Word is Life (John 6:63):
It is impregnated with divine, creative energy. It can quicken what is dead, revive what is dormant, and create something from nothing. It is the agent of all miracles, from the healing of a body to the resurrection of a dream (Luke 5:1-7, Luke 7:11-15).
    • God’s Word is a Discerner (Hebrews 4:12):
It is a precise surgical instrument that accurately judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. It reveals hidden motives, exposes sin, and separates the soul’s emotions from the spirit’s convictions, bringing clarity and enabling true repentance.

The Functional Power of God’s Word

    1. It Reveals the Hidden:
Nothing is concealed from God’s sight, and His Word brings to light what is hidden in our hearts (Hebrews 4:13) and in our circumstances. It provides supernatural insight and understanding.

    2. It Brings Peace in Chaos:
Like Jesus’s word that calmed the storm (Mark 4:39), God’s Word spoken in faith can bring peace to any turmoil—emotional, financial, or relational. It commands order into our chaos.

    3. It is the Source of All Provision:
Everything you need for life and godliness is contained within and accessed through God’s Word (2 Peter 1:3). It is the container of your healing, prosperity, peace, and victory.

How to Engage with God’s Word for Maximum Impact

    1. Study It:
Engage your mind. Read it systematically and contextually to understand God’s character and will (2 Timothy 2:15).

    2. Believe It:
Engage your heart. Receive it as absolute truth, above every other report or opinion. Faith is the hand that takes what the Word offers (Hebrews 4:2).

    3. Meditate on It:
Engage your spirit. Chew on it continually, muttering it to yourself, and asking the Holy Spirit for revelation (Joshua 1:8). This is how it moves from your head to your heart.

    4. Speak It:
Engage your mouth. Release its creative power by aligning your confession with God’s declaration. Your tongue is the delivery system for the Word’s power (Romans 10:9-10).

    5. Obey It:
Engage your will. Apply it to your daily decisions and actions. Obedience is the proof of belief and the activator of blessing (James 1:22-25).

Conclusion: Make It Your Essential Sustenance

    Pray this:
“Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of Your living and powerful Word. Forgive me for neglecting it or treating it as a common book. Open my eyes to see wondrous things in it. Let it be a lamp to my feet, truth to my mind, life to my spirit, and a discerner of my heart. I commit to studying, meditating on, speaking, and obeying Your Word daily, in Jesus’ name. Amen.”

    Action Steps:

    1. Scripture Prescription: Identify a specific need (e.g., fear, sickness, lack) and find 3-5 scriptures that address it. Write them down.
    2. Meditation Focus: Choose one verse each morning and meditate on it throughout the day.
    3. Speak Life: Intentionally speak the Word over your circumstances several times a day.
    4. Obey Promptly: When the Word convicts you or instructs you, obey immediately.

Remember: The Word of God is not just about information; it is about transformation and manifestation. It contains the power to perform itself in your life when mixed with faith.

“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” (Psalm 119:105). Let it guide you today.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 9 OCTOBER 2025 TODAY MESSAGE

Careless words can drain a Christian’s spiritual battery. When a believer keeps speaking words that are contrary to God’s will for his or her life, such a believer will end up deflating himself or herself spiritually. When your heart is filled with God’s word, and your words agree with His word, you will remain strong in faith and vibrant in the Spirit.

    Psalm 107:2 says,
    Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy;

Do you know why the redeemed of the Lord must ‘say so’? It is because there is power in what we say. If you are the redeemed of the Lord and you keep speaking the words of the unredeemed, you will reap the fruits of the things you say.

When a believer whose speech should be gracious and seasoned with salt (Colossians 4:6) keeps speaking negative and careless words, it is only a matter of time before his or her life starts to look like the negative words that have been spoken.

When things don’t go your way or when the economy looks unfavourable, do not forget that you are the redeemed of the Lord, and as a result, you are programmed for victory. Hence, you should not re-program yourself for failure and defeat through your words.

Fill your heart with the words of God so that His words will continually be on your lips no matter the things or situations that come your way, for out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks (Luke 6:45).

If you, however, occupy your mind with wrong or negative words, those words will come to play when the storms of life arise. You can’t be bold enough to say that the Lord is your helper when you have not heard and believed that God will never leave you nor forsake you. What you keep hearing is what builds confidence or fear in you.

In any circumstance you find yourself, check what God’s word says concerning it; hold on to the word and speak it into the situation. Ensure that the words on your lips align with what God has said in His word, but to do this, you must fill your heart with His word. You must ensure that the words of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom (Colossians 3:16). When God’s word fills your heart, your words will be wholesome and full of grace, and your life will truly reflect His glory.

    KEY POINT

Words have the power to create or destroy. Be careful what you say

    Matthew 21-22

    HYMN 3: ANCIENT WORDS

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 9 OCTOBER 2025 COMMENTARY

    MEMORISE: Proverbs 18:21
“Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.”
This verse establishes the immense creative power God has vested in human speech. Our words are not merely sounds; they are containers of spiritual force that will ultimately produce a harvest—either of life or death—in our own lives.

    BIBLE READING: Hebrews 13:5-6
This passage provides the foundation for faith-filled speech:
    v. 5b: The Promise: “I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.”
    v. 6: The Proclamation: “So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.”
God’s promise is designed to fuel our bold confession.

    The Power of Your Proclamation

Pastor E.A. Adeboye delivers a crucial teaching on the spiritual dynamics of speech. For the believer, words are not neutral; they are either faith-filled conduits of God’s power or careless drains of spiritual energy. Your mouth is a creative instrument that programs your destiny.

    The Two Realms of Speech

    • The Language of the Redeemed (Life):
This is speech that agrees with God’s Word and His nature. It is gracious, seasoned with salt (Colossians 4:6), and full of faith. It is not denial of reality, but a declaration of a higher truth—God’s reality.
      • Function: It builds up, encourages, and calls forth God’s will (Ephesians 4:29).
      • Source: A heart filled with the Word of God (Luke 6:45).
      • Result: It sustains faith, invites God’s power, and programs the speaker for victory.
    • The Language of the Unredeemed (Death):
This is speech that agrees with circumstances, fears, and negative reports. It is careless, negative, and contrary to God’s will.
      • Function: It drains spiritual energy, inflames fear, and calls forth defeat.
      • Source: A heart occupied with the cares of the world and negative input.
      • Result: It deflates faith, empowers the enemy, and programs the speaker for failure.

    The Mechanism of Creative Speech

    1. Hearing -> Faith -> Confession -> Reality (Romans 10:17):
Faith is built by hearing God’s Word. This faith then finds expression in our confession, which in turn shapes our reality. To change your confession, you must first change what you are hearing and believing.
    2. The Heart as the Reservoir (Luke 6:45):
The mouth merely overflows with whatever has been stored in the heart. A heart filled with God’s promises will naturally speak words of life. A heart filled with news, gossip, and fear will speak words of death.
    3. The Principle of “Say So” (Psalm 107:2):
Redemption is a finished work, but its benefits are accessed through proclamation. God instructs the redeemed to “say so” because verbal agreement with His truth releases its power into our circumstances.

How to Harness the Power of Your Tongue

    1. Audit Your Speech:
Consciously listen to what you say about your health, finances, family, and future. Eliminate phrases like “I’m always broke,” “This will never change,” or “I’m so sick and tired.”

    2. Saturate Your Heart with God’s Word:
You cannot speak what you do not know. Prioritize daily meditation on Scripture (Joshua 1:8). Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly (Colossians 3:16).

    3. Boldly Align Your Confession with God’s Promise:
Follow the Hebrews 13:5-6 model. When God says, “I will never leave you,” your response must be, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear.” Speak to your situation based on what God has said, not what you see.

    4. Guard Your Ears:
What you listen to will eventually come out of your mouth. Limit exposure to negative news, faithless conversations, and fear-based media.

    Warning: The Careless Word

Careless words are like holes in a spiritual battery; they drain your faith and render you powerless in the day of adversity. A believer who constantly speaks defeat cannot walk in victory, because they are consistently contradicting and nullifying the work of Christ on their behalf.

    Conclusion: Program Yourself for Victory

    Pray this:
“Heavenly Father, I thank You for the power of life and death in my tongue. Forgive me for every careless word I have spoken that has drained my faith and dishonored You. Today, I take control of my speech. I saturate my heart with Your Word so that my mouth will overflow with life, grace, and faith. I declare that [insert a specific promise from God’s Word] over my life. My mouth is programmed for victory, in Jesus’ name. Amen.”

    Action Steps:

    1. Scripture Cards: Write down 3-5 key promises from God’s Word and carry them with you. Speak them aloud throughout the day.
    2. Fast from Negativity: For the next 24 hours, commit to speaking only positive, faith-filled words that align with Scripture.
    3. Find a Confession Partner: Partner with a believer to hold each other accountable for speaking life.
    4. Respond, Don’t React: When faced with bad news, train yourself to pause and respond with God’s Word instead of reacting with fear.

Remember: You are the redeemed of the Lord. SAY SO. Your words are shaping your world. Choose them wisely.

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue…” (Proverbs 18:21). What will you release today?

    TOPIC: FEED THE SPIRIT

    MEMORISE:
But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
    Romans 8:9

    READ: Galatians 5:16-18:
16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrarythe one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 8 OCTOBER 2025 TODAY MESSAGE

Today’s Bible reading tells us that the flesh and the spirit are constantly at war, and the one we feed is the one that will win. To live above the flesh, a child of God must keep feeding and filling his or her spirit with the word of God.

The story of Peter in Luke 22:54-62 is very sobering. He was one of the disciples whom Jesus sent to some cities and towns to preach the gospel and who returned with joy because devils were subject to them (Luke 10:17). He was also present when Jesus fed the five thousand (Mark 6:35- 44) and raised Lazarus from the dead (John 11:1-44). At some point, he even walked on water (Matthew 14:28-29). As long as Peter fed his spirit, the devil couldn’t touch him.

However, the moment he began to feed his ego by boasting that he would never deny Jesus (Matthew 26:34-35), he became weak spiritually. Jesus had warned Peter that the devil had targeted him to make him fall (Luke 22:31), but instead of running back to the secret place to fortify himself, he kept boasting about his inability to fall until he eventually fell.

When you don’t feed your spirit, you will become vulnerable to the attacks of the enemy. You will become overly sensitive to offences and will easily get annoyed and irritated by many things.

Feeding your spirit must be a regular exercise.
In Matthew 6:34, Jesus said, ” …Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.”
In other words, to overcome the evil of each day, you must feed your spirit every day. You must spend time in God’s word.

Joshua 1:8 says, “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night…” You must also spend time in prayer so that you won’t become a victim of the enemy.

Some pastors have become so familiar with the word that they don’t see the need to study their Bibles and pray as before. They can cook up a sermon in a short time, and this makes them think they are okay spiritually. If you keep starving your spirit, it is only a matter of time before you will become dry. Don’t let the devil deceive you into thinking you are okay when you are not feeding your spirit. He wants to drain you so he can conquer you.

Beloved, feed your spirit every single day by studying the word of God and fellowshipping with the Holy Spirit.

    REFLECTION

Have you been feeding your spirit or your flesh?

    BIBLE IN ONE YEAR

    Matthew 18-20

HYMN 8: I Need Thee Every Hour

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 8 OCTOBER 2025 COMMENTARY

    MEMORISE: Romans 8:9
“But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.”
This verse establishes the fundamental identity of the believer: we are not defined by the flesh but by the indwelling Holy Spirit. Our daily victory depends on living in agreement with this spiritual reality.

    BIBLE READING: Galatians 5:16-18
This passage outlines the core conflict and the divine strategy for victory:
    v. 16: The Command: “Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.”
    v. 17: The Conflict: The flesh and the Spirit are in constant opposition.
    v. 18: The Key: Being led by the Spirit is the antidote to being under the law’s condemnation.

    Winning the War Within

Pastor E.A. Adeboye delivers a critical message on spiritual maintenance, using the sobering example of Peter to illustrate a universal truth: past anointing is no guarantee against present failure. Sustained victory requires daily, intentional nourishment of our inner man.

    The Principle of Spiritual Nourishment

The war between the flesh and the spirit is won not by willpower but by nourishment. The nature you feed most will dominate your life. A starving spirit will always be overpowered by a well-fed flesh.

The Case Study of Peter: From Power to Failure

    • The Fed Spirit (The Season of Power):
When Peter’s spirit was consistently fed through intimate fellowship with Christ, he operated in incredible power: preaching with authority, walking on water, and receiving divine revelation (Matthew 16:17). His spirit was strong and dominant.
    • The Starved Spirit (The Path to Failure):
Peter’s decline began when he shifted from feeding his spirit to feeding his flesh—specifically, his ego and self-confidence (Matthew 26:33-35). He neglected Jesus’s specific warning (Luke 22:31) and the instruction to “watch and pray” (Matthew 26:41). A starved spirit leads to:
      • Spiritual vulnerability to enemy attacks.
      • Oversensitivity and irritability.
      • Ultimate denial of Christ under pressure.

How to Feed Your Spirit Daily

    1. Consistent Intake of God’s Word:
This is not for sermon preparation but for personal nourishment. Meditation (Joshua 1:8) is the process of digesting Scripture so it becomes part of your spiritual DNA, providing strength and wisdom for daily challenges.

    2. Persistent Prayer and Fellowship:
Prayer is not a monologue but a dialogue. It is fellowship with the Holy Spirit that strengthens your inner man (Jude 1:20) and keeps you sensitive to His leading, ensuring you are led by the Spirit and not driven by the flesh.

    3. Guard Against Familiarity:
The danger for pastors and long-time believers is familiarity—the feeling that you know enough. This deception leads to a neglected spiritual diet, resulting in dryness and eventual failure. Never substitute sermon preparation for personal devotion.

The Consequences of a Starved Spirit

    • Spiritual Dryness: A lack of freshness and vitality in your relationship with God.
    • Increased Vulnerability: Inability to withstand temptation and enemy attacks.
    • Carnal Behavior: Manifesting the works of the flesh (Galatians 5:19-21) such as anger, jealousy, and strife.
    • Ministry Without Power: Performing religious duties without the accompanying life-changing power of God.

    The Call to Daily Discipline

    Pray this:
“Holy Spirit, my Helper, I acknowledge my total dependence on You. Forgive me for every time I have neglected my spirit and fed my flesh. From this day forward, I commit to a daily diet of Your Word and prayer. Stir in me a relentless hunger for You. Lead me and empower me so that I will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh, but will walk in daily victory, for Your glory. Amen.”

    Action Steps:

    1. Schedule Daily Feeding Time: Treat your prayer and Bible study time as a non-negotiable appointment with God.
    2. Meditate, Don’t Just Read: Choose a verse or short passage each day and chew on it throughout the day. Ask: What is God saying to me?
    3. Fast Regularly: Deny your flesh to strengthen your spirit. This could be a meal, a form of entertainment, or social media.
    4. Accountability: Share your commitment with a spiritual partner who can encourage you and hold you accountable.

Remember: You are not in the flesh but in the Spirit. Live like it. Feed the right nature. Today’s evil requires today’s spiritual meal. Do not let yesterday’s manna suffice for today’s battle.

“Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.” (Galatians 5:16). This is both a command and a promise. Obey it and claim it.

    TOPIC: LEVELS OF BREAKTHROUGHS

    MEMORISE:
Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
    Psalms 37:4

    READ: Ruth 3:1-18:
1 Then Naomi her mother in law said unto her, My daughter, shall I not seek rest for thee, that it may be well with thee?
2 And now is not Boaz of our kindred, with whose maidens thou wast? Behold, he winnowethbarley to night in the threshingfloor.
3 Wash thyself therefore, and anoint thee, and put thy raiment upon thee, and get thee down to the floor: but make not thyself known unto the man, until he shall have done eating and drinking.
4 And it shall be, when he lieth down, that thou shalt mark the place where he shall lie, and thou shalt go in, and uncover his feet, and lay thee down; and he will tell thee what thou shalt do.

5 And she said unto her, All that thou sayest unto me I will do.
6 And she went down unto the floor, and did according to all that her mother in law bade her.
7 And when Boaz had eaten and drunk, and his heart was merry, he went to lie down at the end of the heap of corn: and she came softly, and uncovered his feet, and laid her down.
8 And it came to pass at midnight*, that the man was afraid, and turned himself: and, behold, a woman lay at his feet.
9 And he said, Who art thou? And she answered, I am Ruth thine handmaid: spread therefore thy skirt over thine handmaid; for thou art a near kinsman.
10 And he said, Blessed be thou of the LORD, my daughter: for thou hast shewed more kindness in the latter end than at the beginning, inasmuch as thou followedst* not young men, whether poor or rich.

11 And now, my daughter, fear not; I will do to thee all that thou requirest: for all the city of my people doth know that thou art a virtuous woman.
12 And now it is true that I am thy near kinsman: howbeit there is a kinsman nearer than I.
13 Tarry this night, and it shall be in the morning, that if he will perform unto thee the part of a kinsman, well; let him do the kinsman’s part: but if he will not do the part of a kinsman to thee, then will I do the part of a kinsman to thee, as the LORD liveth: lie down until the morning.
14 And she lay at his feet until the morning: and she rose up before one could know another. And he said, Let it not be known that a woman came into the floor.
15 Also he said, Bring the vail that thou hast upon thee, and hold it. And when she held it, he measured six measures of barley, and laid it on her: and she went into the city.

16 And when she came to her mother in law, she said, Who art thou, my daughter? And she toldher all that the man had done to her.
17 And she said, These six measures of barley gave he me; for he said to me, Go not empty unto thy mother in law.
18 Then said she, Sit still, my daughter, until thou know how the matter will fall: for the man will not be in rest, until he have finished the thing this day.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 7 OCTOBER 2025 TODAY MESSAGE

There are different levels of breakthroughs. In Genesis 18:9-14, Abraham had a breakthrough, but it was a breakthrough that took 25 years to manifest. In Genesis 41:38-44, Joseph had a breakthrough, but that breakthrough took several years to manifest the way God showed him several years earlier in a dream. Moses also had a breakthrough that had been promised over a long period of time before its manifestation (Exodus 3:1-15). He had known long before then that God had chosen him to deliver the Israelites (Acts 7:22-25), but the manifestation took years.

There is, however, another level of breakthrough like the one recorded in 1 Samuel 16:11-13, where a shepherd boy was anointed as the king of Israel without prior notice. In Esther 2:15-18, a slave girl became a queen in a foreign land; that is also a new level of breakthrough.

When you read the book of Ruth, you will see certain lessons that will help you experience a new level of breakthrough. After experiencing sadness and sorrow, Ruth decided to follow her mother-in-law, Naomi, from Moab – her own country – to Bethlehem. Moab was a nation of idol worshippers, but she decided to forsake the idols she had grown up with to worship the God of Israel. She must have also left many childhood friends and close relatives behind – she practically left her old life to start a new one. You cannot keep holding on to the past if you want to experience a new level of breakthrough. You must let go of your past life and old habits to receive the new things God has for you.

Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.
    Isaiah 43:18-19

Ruth found her breakthrough in Bethlehem because she served and followed the good advice she often received from her mother-in-law. She was a hardworking woman, and her diligence made Boaz notice her among the other workers on his field and show her favour (Ruth 2:1-16). In today’s Bible reading, you will also see that it was Ruth’s obedience to Naomi’s advice that led to her becoming Boaz’s wife.

Beloved, if you want to experience new breakthroughs in your life, you must obey the word of God completely. You must also seek and follow godly counsel while ensuring that you are diligent in all you do.

    PRAYER POINT

Father, please help me to obey your instructions on the things I must do to experience ne w breakthroughs in my life, in Jesus’ name.

    BIBLE IN ONE YEAR

    Matthew 14-17

HYMN 30: WHEN WE WALK WITH THE LORD

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 7 OCTOBER 2025 COMMENTARY

    MEMORISE: Psalm 37:4
“Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.”
This verse is the key to unlocking divine breakthroughs. It promises that when God Himself becomes the source of our deepest joy and satisfaction, He sovereignly places His desires within us and orchestrates events to bring them to pass in His perfect timing.

    BIBLE READING: Ruth 3:1-18
This passage details the pivotal moment Ruth’s breakthrough was secured through:

    • Obedience: She heeded Naomi’s wise and strategic counsel exactly (v. 5-6).
    • Initiative: She positioned herself at the threshing floor, a place of harvest and judgment (v. 6-7).
    • Virtue: She conducted herself with humility and integrity, earning Boaz’s praise (v. 9-11).
    • Patience: She waited for Boaz to fulfill his legal and righteous role as kinsman-redeemer (v. 18).

Positioning for a New Level of Breakthrough

Pastor E.A. Adeboye outlines the pathway to experiencing unprecedented divine acceleration. While some breakthroughs are cultivated over time (Abraham, Joseph, Moses), others are sudden and sovereign (David, Esther). Ruth’s story provides a masterclass in the attitudes and actions that position us for the latter.

    The Two Timelines of Breakthrough

    • Cultivated Breakthroughs: These are promises that require a process of character refinement, testing, and patience. They are not delayed but are being prepared in the unseen realm for the appointed time (Genesis 18:14, Hebrews 6:15).
    • Sudden Breakthroughs: These are sovereign acts of God where He bypasses natural timelines to elevate a person in a moment for His divine purpose (1 Samuel 16:11-13). They often come to those who, like Ruth, have unknowingly been prepared through faithfulness.

The Ruth Protocol for Sudden Breakthrough

Ruth’s story provides a blueprint for positioning oneself for a new level of favor.

    1. Make a decisive break with the past.
Ruth left Moab—her nation, her gods, and her old identity (Ruth 1:16-17). You cannot receive new wine in an old wineskin (Matthew 9:17). Breakthrough requires forsaking idolatrous attachments, sinful habits, and soulish dependencies that belong to your “Moab.”

    2. Align yourself with God’s covenant people.
Ruth’s declaration, “Thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God,” was her covenant alignment (Ruth 1:16). Breakthrough is often found in “Bethlehem” (the house of bread)—the place of God’s presence and His people. Commit to a local assembly and spiritual covering.

    3. Embrace diligence and excellence.
Ruth didn’t wait for her breakthrough; she worked for it with all her might in a foreign field (Ruth 2:2, 7, 17). Diligence makes you visible to your “Boaz” (divine connection) and attracts favor (Proverbs 22:29). Be excellent where you are with what you have.

    4. Heed godly counsel.
Ruth’s obedience to Naomi’s unconventional strategy was the direct catalyst for her marital breakthrough (Ruth 3:5-6). Humility to submit to spiritual authority and wise counsel is a non-negotiable for acceleration (Proverbs 11:14, 15:22).

    5. Walk in virtue and integrity.
Ruth was known as a “virtuous woman” (Ruth 3:11). Her integrity in a vulnerable situation caused Boaz to act honorably on her behalf. Your character must be able to sustain your breakthrough without corruption.

    Activating the Principle

    Pray this:
“Father, I delight myself in You today. You are my exceeding joy. I break every attachment to my spiritual ‘Moab’—every idol, sin, and weight that holds me back. I align myself with Your will and Your people. Grant me the diligence of Ruth, the humility to heed godly counsel, and the integrity to sustain the sudden breakthrough You have ordained for me. According to Your word, give me the desires You have placed in my heart, in Jesus’ name.”

    Action Steps:

    1. Identify Your Moab: Write down one thing God is asking you to leave behind to embrace your new season.
    2. Commit to Diligence: Choose one area of your life (work, study, ministry) where you will commit to exceptional excellence this week.
    3. Seek Counsel: Identify a spiritual mentor or leader and ask for prayerful advice on a current situation.
    4. Declare God’s Word: Confess Isaiah 43:18-19 daily: “I forget the former things; I do not dwell on the past. God is doing a new thing in my life now!”

Remember: Your sudden breakthrough is not about luck; it is about divine positioning. God is ready to do a new thing. Let go of the old, embrace the process of preparation, and position yourself in obedience. Your Bethlehem is waiting.

“Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.” (Isaiah 43:19). Your new thing is springing forth.

Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
    Ephesians 4:3

    READ: Acts 6:1-7:

1 And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration.
2 Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables.
3 Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghostand wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.

4 But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.
5 And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch:
6 Whom they set before the apostles: and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them.
7 And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly;and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 5 OCTOBER 2025 TODAY MESSAGE

In Acts 4:21-30, after the apostles were imprisoned and threatened, they returned to their own company, and with one accord, they lifted up their voices to God. The first result of their prayers was that they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to preach the word of God with boldness (Acts 4:31).

Another result of their corporate prayers was the grace and power to preach the good news of the death, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus Christ, as we see in Acts 4:33:
And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.

Beloved, do you want great boldness to do God’s will? Do you want to experience great power and grace? Then, you must live in unity with other believers. Whenever there is peace and unity among believers, God’s power is unlimited.

In Acts 12:1-5, Herod began to persecute and kill Christians. He first arrested James, the brother of John, and because there was no resistance from the believers, he killed him. Afterwards, he arrested Peter and imprisoned him, planning to kill him after Easter. However, the church gathered together to pray continuously for Peter and did not stop until he was miraculously delivered from Herod (Acts 12:6-11).
We must also live in unity with other believers if we want to experience exponential increase.

The devil understands the power of unity in the church; therefore, he constantly tries to do all he can to keep us in disunity by making us fight one another and gossip about ourselves.

In today’s Bible reading, when the devil tried to cause disunity in the early church, the apostles quickly appointed faithful men to take care of the people who were complaining.

Immediately the apostles solved the problem that threatened to divide the church, the word of God increased, and the number of disciples multiplied. Churches that are not operating in unity will not see the increase of God’s word and power among them until they deal with the things causing disunity.

Beloved, do not neglect the times set aside for corporate prayers in your local assembly. The church is a family, and a popular saying goes: the family that prays together stays together.

This is true because the Bible says that one shall chase a thousand, but two shall chase tens of thousands.

    KEY POINT

The church that prays together stays together.

HYMN 22: SWEET HOUR OF PRAYER

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 5 OCTOBER 2025 COMMENTARY

    The Indispensable Power of Unity

Daddy E.A. Adeboye emphasizes a non-negotiable principle for spiritual power and exponential growth: divine unity. The early church’s explosive impact was not a product of individual brilliance but of corporate harmony. Where there is unity, God commands His blessing and power (Psalm 133:1, 3).

The Biblical Evidence for Unified Power

    • The Power for Boldness (Acts 4:23-31): When threatened, the church did not scatter in fear; they gathered in prayer. Their unified cry to God resulted in a fresh, corporate infilling of the Holy Spirit that turned timid disciples into fearless witnesses.
    • The Power for Deliverance (Acts 12:5-11): Faced with Herod’s murderous intent, the church did not resign to fate. They engaged in “continuous and fervent prayer” (Greek: ektenōs) as one body. Their corporate intercession unleashed angelic activity that shattered Peter’s chains and nullified Herod’s plot.
    • The Power for Exponential Growth (Acts 6:1-7): When a threat of disunity arose from a complaint, the apostles acted swiftly to address it. The moment the issue was resolved and unity was restored, the result was immediate: “the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly” (v. 7).

    Why Unity Releases God’s Power

    1. It Pleases God: Unity reflects the nature of the Godhead (Father, Son, and Spirit) and answers the prayer of Jesus (John 17:21). God delights in commanding His blessing where brethren dwell in unity.
    2. It neutralizes the Devil’s Strategy: The devil’s primary tactic against the church is division (gossip, strife, offense, and competition). A divided church is a powerless church, as seen when Herod killed James and faced no resistance (Acts 12:2). Unity is our spiritual defense.
    3. It Amplifies Faith and Prayer: There is a multiplicative effect in corporate faith. As Deuteronomy 32:30 states, one can chase a thousand, but two can put ten thousand to flight. Unified prayer creates a spiritual synergy that heaven cannot ignore.

How to Cultivate and Maintain Power-Bestowing Unity

    1. Prioritize Corporate Prayer:
The prayer meeting is the powerhouse of the church. Do not neglect it (Hebrews 10:25). It is in the place of unified prayer, as seen in Acts 4 and 12, that strategies are formed, burdens are shared, and heaven’s power is downloaded corporately.

    2. Address Division Swiftly:
Follow the Acts 6 model. Do not allow complaints, grievances, or misunderstandings to fester. Address them with wisdom, fairness, and humility. Protect the unity of the Spirit at all costs (Ephesians 4:3).

    3. Focus on the Common Enemy, Not Each Other:
The early church understood that their fight was not against flesh and blood but against spiritual forces (Ephesians 6:12). Unity is maintained when we focus on our common mission and adversary, not on our differences.

    4. Submit to Leadership and Structure:
Godly order is a hedge against chaos. The appointment of deacons in Acts 6 to handle a practical need preserved the unity of the apostles and the entire body, facilitating growth.

    Warning: The Cost of Disunity
A house divided against itself cannot stand (Mark 3:25). Disunity quenches the Spirit, grieves the Lord, and renders the church vulnerable, powerless, and ineffective in spiritual warfare. It is the quickest way to see God’s power and grace diminish in a local assembly.

Conclusion: Your Role in the Corporate Anointing

    Pray this:
“Heavenly Father, I thank You for the family of believers. Forgive me for any action or attitude that has fostered disunity. Help me to be a peacemaker and a bridge-builder in my local assembly. As we gather in unity, fill us afresh with Your Holy Spirit. Release upon us great power for witness and great grace for living, so that the world may see Jesus in us, amen.”

    Action Steps:

    1. Commit to Corporate Prayer: Faithfully attend your church’s prayer meetings. See it as your spiritual duty and privilege.
    2. Be a Unifier: Refuse to gossip or listen to gossip. Instead, speak words that edify and promote peace (Ephesians 4:29).
    3. Resolve Conflict Biblically: If you have an issue with a brother or sister, go to them directly and privately in a spirit of love and reconciliation (Matthew 18:15).
    4. Pray for Your Leaders: Intercede for the unity and wisdom of your pastors and church leadership regularly.

Remember: The level of God’s manifest power in your life is often tied to your connection to the corporate body. You will never fully experience “great power” and “great grace” in isolation. It is upon the “them all.”

“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!” (Psalm 133:1). This is where God commands the blessing.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 4 OCTOBER 2025 TODAY MESSAGE

When God wants to set the stage for new things, He often starts by giving new miracles and blessings. When He wanted to deliver the Israelites from slavery in Egypt, He started by using Moses’ rod to perform several miracles that no one had ever seen (Exodus 4:17).

When Jesus came to establish a new covenant, He performed so many new miracles that people said they had never seen such things happen before (Mark 2:12).

Likewise, when it was time for the apostles to take the gospel beyond Jerusalem into Samaria, Judea, and other parts of the world, Peter’s shadow began to heal the sick (Acts 5:15). Personally, I have noticed that whenever God wants to take us to a new level in RCCG, He begins by introducing new miracles that have never been experienced in our midst.

Years ago, the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship International had a convention in Port Harcourt, a city in Southern Nigeria and invited me to speak on the topic, ‘New Anointing’. As I spoke, I gave some examples of what God, in His infinite mercies, had done through me. When it was time to go home, the crowd began to surge forward such that I had to be guided into my car.

A woman who had a sister that had gone completely mad decided that she would touch my car if she could not touch me. So, she took out a handkerchief, dropped it on the car I was in, and took it back before we drove off.

On getting home, she asked six hefty men to hold her sister down. Waving her handkerchief, she said, “I have the solution in my hand.” She then took the handkerchief and laid it on her sister, and she became normal again.

When God wants to move you to a new level, He usually starts with new miracles. Hence, you must be on the lookout for such miracles in your life so you can understand your seasons.

Beyond looking out for such miracles, you can also ask for them. In Acts 4:29-30, the apostles asked God to facilitate the spread of the gospel by stretching forth His mighty hand to heal the sick and perform signs and wonders. The result of this prayer was tremendous growth and increase in the church (Acts 4:31-33).

Beloved, ask God for new miracles in your life today. By doing this, you will initiate growth into a new season of your life.

    ACTION POINT

Ask God to start a new thing in your life today by giving you new miracles.

    BIBLE IN ONE YEAR

    Matthew 7-9

HYMN 26: THERE SHALL BE SHOWERS OF BLESSINGS

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 4 OCTOBER 2025 COMMENTARY

    God’s Pattern for New Beginnings

Pastor E.A. Adeboye reveals a critical principle in God’s dealings with His people: the launchpad for any new season, level, or assignment is often a unprecedented miracle. God uses new wonders to shatter limitations, authenticate His messengers, and announce the commencement of a new thing.

The Biblical Precedent for New Miracles

    • The Exodus (Exodus 4:17): God commissioned Moses for a new deliverance ministry with a new miracle—turning a rod into a serpent. This sign was the first in a series of unprecedented wonders (the plagues, the Red Sea) that confirmed a new era of liberation.
    • The New Covenant (Mark 2:12): Jesus inaugurated a new dispensation of grace not just with teaching, but with miracles that astounded people: healing paralytics, forgiving sins publicly, and calming storms. These were new wonders that authenticated His unique authority.
    • The Apostolic Age (Acts 5:15): As the gospel was poised to expand beyond its Jewish beginnings, God released a new dimension of power: healing through Peter’s shadow. This was a unique miracle that signaled the new, pervasive power of the Holy Spirit available to all believers.

    The Purpose of New Miracles

    1. To Authenticate a New Season: A new miracle is often God’s “green light,” signaling the end of one season and the start of another. It is His way of saying, “I am doing something now that I have not done before; pay attention.”
    2. To Break Limitations: New miracles shatter boxes of unbelief and tradition. They force us to expand our theology and expect more from God, just as the handkerchief miracle in Port Harcourt broke limitations of how God’s power could be transmitted.
    3. To Facilitate Growth and Expansion: As seen in Acts 4, miracles are catalytic. They draw attention, create awe, and open doors for the gospel, leading to explosive growth in the kingdom, just as it did in the early church and in the RCCG.

How to Position Yourself for New Miracles

    1. Discern Your Season:
Be spiritually sensitive. Are you at a crossroads? Has a chapter closed? Is there a stirring for more? Understand that God’s new thing often starts with a divine disturbance of the status quo. “Shall ye not know it?” (Isaiah 43:19). Be on the lookout.

    2. Ask Specifically for Them:
Do not be passive. The apostles did not assume miracles would happen; they asked for them boldly (Acts 4:29-30). Follow their example. Pray with precision: “Lord, stretch forth Your hand to perform new signs and wonders in my life, family, and ministry to initiate the new season You have promised.”

    3. Step Out in Faith and Obedience:
God’s instruction to Moses was to use the rod. Peter had to walk the streets for his shadow to heal. The woman with the handkerchief had to act on her faith. New miracles often require a corresponding step of faith that aligns with God’s instruction for the new season.

    4. Celebrate and Testify:
When the new miracle happens, acknowledge it. Like the man healed in Mark 2, go out and publicize what God has done. Your testimony of God’s new work is a weapon that builds faith in others and confirms the new season.

Warning: Do Not Dwell on Past Miracles

While we remember God’s past faithfulness, we must not build a shrine there. The Israelites in the wilderness longed for Egypt’s food instead of expecting God’s new provision of manna. To receive the new, we must let go of the old and avoid limiting God to what He has done before.

    Conclusion: Initiate Your New Season

    Pray this:
“Father, I thank You for every miracle in my past. But today, I ask for a new thing! Stretch forth Your hand like never before. Perform new signs and wonders in my life that will shatter every limitation and announce my transition into the new season You have prepared for me. Let Your power be manifested in unprecedented ways, and make me a catalyst for growth in Your kingdom, in Jesus’ mighty name.”

    Action Steps:

    1. Identify the Limitation: What is the “wilderness” or “desert” in your life that needs a “new thing”?
    2. Scriptural Foundation: Meditate on Isaiah 43:19 and Acts 4:29-30. Let these verses build your faith for the new.
    3. Pray Boldly: For the next 7 days, include a specific prayer for new miracles in your personal prayer time.
    4. Obey Promptings: Be ready to act on any unusual instruction the Holy Spirit gives you, as it may be the key to unlocking the new miracle.

Remember: God is not finished. The greatest miracles are not behind you; they are before you. He wants to do something new in your life today. Ask for it, believe for it, and get ready for it.

“Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth…” (Isaiah 43:19). Your new season is springing forth.

21 Then Moses called for all the elders of Israel, and said unto them, Draw out and take you a lamb according to your families, and kill the passover.
22 And ye shall take a bunch of hyssop, and dip it in the blood that is in the bason, and strike the lintel and the two side posts with the blood that is in the bason; and none of you shall go out at the door of his house until the morning.
23 For the LORD will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when he seeth the blood upon the lintel, and on the two side posts, the LORD will pass over the door, and will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your houses to smite you.
24 And ye shall observe this thing for an ordinance to thee and to thy sons for ever.

27 That ye shall say, It isthe sacrifice of the LORD’s passover, who passed over the houses of the children of Israel in Egypt, when he smote the Egyptians, and delivered our houses. And the people bowed the head and worshipped.
28 And the children of Israel went away, and did as the LORD had commanded Moses and Aaron, so did they.

29And it came to pass, that at midnight the LORDsmote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sat on his throne unto the firstborn of the captive that was in the dungeon; and all the firstborn of cattle.
30 And Pharaoh rose up in the night, he, and all his servants, and all the Egyptians; and there was a great cry in Egypt; for there was not a house where there was not one dead.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 3 OCTOBER 2025 TODAY MESSAGE

There are two kinds of wonders – the good and the bad. In 2 Kings 5:1-27, there was a man called Naaman, who was the captain of the host of the king of Syria. He was a leper, and Elisha asked him to go and wash in River Jordan so he could be healed. When he did, his skin became like that of a newborn baby – this is an example of a good wonder.

After this, Gehazi, the servant of the man of God, ran after Naaman and fraudulently collected the gifts Elisha rejected. When Elisha discovered this, he cursed Gehazi saying, “I command that the leprosy of Naaman will cleave to you.” Immediately, Gehazi was covered with leprosy and became as white as snow – now, this is an example of a bad wonder.

When God manifests Himself, He performs good wonders in the lives of His children. He is gentle to His children, but He is also a consuming fire to those who refuse His Lordship. In today’s Bible reading, the children of Israel enjoyed the good wonder of preservation and escape from the angel of death.

However, at the same time, the Egyptians experienced God’s judgement. At the Red Sea, while the Israelites saw the mighty wonder of God as the sea parted for them to walk through it, the Egyptians were drowned by that same sea (Exodus 14:21-28).

God is a God of wonders, but the type of wonders a fellow will experience from Him will depend on whether he or she is for Him or against Him.

Beloved, are you on the Lord’s side (Exodus 32:26) or in the devil’s camp? It is not only unbelievers who are not on the Lord’s side; carnal Christians are also not on His side. Paul said in Romans 8:7 that the carnal mind is enmity against God because it is not subject to God’s law and can never be.

A carnal Christian wants to do things his or her way but not in God’s way. Such Christians are moved by what they see and not by God’s word. Anyone who lives like them will not enjoy God’s good wonder.

If you are not yet born again and you want God to make your life an example of a good wonder to others, come to His side today and surrender all to Jesus. If you are already God’s child, refuse to be a carnal Christian and totally surrender your mind to be constantly renewed by His word.

    REFLECTION

Check your life; are you preparing to experience God’s good or bad wonder?

    BIBLE IN ONE YEAR

    Matthew 5-6

    HYMN 10: IN CHRIST ALONE

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 3 OCTOBER 2025 COMMENTARY

    MEMORISE: Psalm 136:4
“To him who alone doeth great wonders: for his mercy endureth for ever.”
This verse attributes all wonders to God alone, highlighting that His miraculous power is inseparable from His eternal mercy. The nature of the wonder one experiences is determined by their relationship with that mercy.

    BIBLE READING: Exodus 12:21-30
This passage provides the ultimate contrast of divine wonders:
    v. 27-28: The good wonder for Israel: The Passover—God’s judgment passes over those sheltered by the blood.
    v. 29-30: The bad wonder for Egypt: The same night brings a devastating plague of death to every firstborn, a direct act of God’s judgment.

The Two Realms of Divine Wonders

Pastor E.A. Adeboye presents a crucial theological truth: God’s power is absolute and manifests in two distinct ways. The same God who performs wonders of mercy for His children executes wonders of judgment against rebellion. Your position in Christ determines your portion from Christ.

    The Nature of God’s Wonders

    • Good Wonders (Manifestations of Mercy):
These are miracles that bring healing, deliverance, provision, and salvation. They are gentle and restorative for those in covenant with God.
      • Naaman’s Healing (2 Kings 5:14): An act of God’s grace that restored a man’s health and led him to faith.
      • The Passover (Exodus 12:13): A protective miracle where God’s judgment passed over those covered by the blood, a direct result of His mercy.
    • Bad Wonders (Manifestations of Judgment):
These are displays of God’s holy power that execute justice, punish sin, and expose rebellion. They reveal God as a consuming fire.
      • Gehazi’s Leprosy (2 Kings 5:27): A judicial miracle that served as swift punishment for greed, deceit, and dishonoring God’s name.
      • The Death of the Firstborn (Exodus 12:29): A wonders of judgment that broke the power of a tyrannical Pharaoh and demonstrated God’s supreme authority.

The Determining Factor: Your Spiritual Position

The same God who spared Israel also struck Egypt. The difference was not in God’s nature but in the application of the blood.

    • On the Lord’s Side: This means to be in a covenant relationship with God through the blood of Jesus (1 Corinthians 5:7). It entails:
      • Salvation: Being born again and under the covering of Christ’s sacrifice.
      • Submission: A heart that is subject to God’s law and authority (Romans 8:7). It is the opposite of a carnal mind.
      • Surrender: Doing things God’s way, not our own. Naaman had to surrender his pride to dip in the Jordan; Israel had to apply the blood.
    • In the Devil’s Camp: This includes not only unbelievers but also carnal Christians. Carnality is characterized by:
      • A Self-Centered Mind: Living according to the flesh, moved by sight and not by faith in God’s Word (2 Corinthians 5:7).
      • An Unsubmissive Will: Refusing God’s way for one’s own, as Gehazi did when he pursued personal gain against the prophet’s clear stance.
      • A Secular Worldview: Treating the sacred with contempt and using God’s ministry for selfish ends.

How to Ensure a Life of Good Wonders

    For the Unbeliever:
Come to the Lord’s side today. Repent of your sins and surrender your life to Jesus Christ. Let His blood mark you for salvation, so God’s judgments pass over you and you begin to experience His miraculous favor.

    For the Believer:
Examine yourself. Reject carnality. A carnal Christian cannot please God (Romans 8:8) and risks experiencing the bad wonders of divine discipline (Hebrews 12:6). Totally surrender your mind to be renewed by God’s Word daily (Romans 12:2).

Conclusion: Choose Your Side, Choose Your Wonder

    Pray this:
“Lord Jesus, I choose to be on Your side today. I renounce every work of the flesh and the carnality that wars against my soul. I surrender my will to Yours. Let the blood of Jesus mark me for Your mercy. Make my life a testament of Your good wonders, for Your glory alone. Amen.”

    Action Steps:

    1. Self-Examination: Honestly ask the Holy Spirit to reveal any area of carnality, greed, or rebellion in your life (like Gehazi).
    2. Apply the Blood: Daily plead the blood of Jesus over your life and family for protection and mercy.
    3. Renew Your Mind: Commit to a daily intake of God’s Word to transform your thinking from carnality to spirituality.
    4. Preach the Divide: Share this message that God is both Savior and Judge, so that others may choose the side of good wonders.

Remember: God’s power will be manifested in your life. The only question is whether it will be a wonder of blessing or a wonder of judgment. Your position in Christ determines your portion from Christ.

“To him who alone doeth great wonders: for his mercy endureth for ever.” (Psalm 136:4). Stay in the place where you experience His enduring mercy.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 2 OCTOBER 2025 TODAY MESSAGE

If you hate something, you will do everything to avoid it. When I was in secondary school, I and two of my friends were the best in mathematics. However, even though we scored above 90%, our mathematics teacher would always tell us that we didn’t do well because we didn’t score 100%.

At last, one day, we scored 100%, and we said, “Let’s go and see him to hear what he will say now.” We got to him, rejoicing, but our joy was cut short when he said, “Your mates are in the university, solving advanced maths, and you are rejoicing over 100% in elementary maths.” His comment made me hate anything less than the absolute best. This is why I get disturbed when I see people celebrating mediocrity.

Years ago, when secondary school results in Nigeria were presented as Grade 1, 2,3, and Pass, the principal of a particular college in Lagos was rejoicing because, for the first time in the school’s history, one of the students got a Grade 3 result. However, another college principal wept because, for the first time, a student went as low as having a Grade 3 result.

As seen in today’s Bible reading, God’s will for His children is that they will be above ONLY.

Hence, no Christian should ever settle for average. If you think you’ve attained your greatest height, you must know that it is someone else’ starting point.

In Ezekiel 47:1-12, God showed Ezekiel a man with a measuring line in his hand, and for every thousand cubits he measured, the water level rose. It started from the ankle to the knee and then to the waist before it became a mighty river. Some people reach the ankle level of success and think they have arrived; they don’t understand that there are greater levels of success waiting ahead of them.

In 2 Kings 2:1-15, while the sons of the prophets were content with being average, Elisha pressed in for a double portion of Elijah’s spirit. The sons of the prophet knew it was time for Elijah to be taken away, and they even knew the day it would happen. However, they were satisfied with having revelation without power. Elisha, on the other hand, didn’t settle for average, and the Lord used him so mightily that we can never forget his name. People who settle for average never stand out.

Beloved, make up your mind to be the absolute best that God has destined you to be. Don’t settle for average.

    KEY POINT

You are destined to be above ONLY. Never settle for average.

HYMN 59: I WANT TO BE LIKE JESUS

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 2 OCTOBER 2025 COMMENTARY

    MEMORISE: Deuteronomy 28:13a
“And the LORD shall make thee the head, and not the tail…”
This verse is a divine decree of positioning. It unequivocally states God’s will for His children: to lead, not to follow; to be at the forefront, not the rear; to set the standard, not to meet it. It is a promise that excludes mediocrity by its very definition.

    BIBLE READING: Deuteronomy 28:1-13
This passage presents a clear covenant contract: obedience triggers a cascade of blessings that result in being established as “the head” and “above only” (v. 13).

Conversely, disobedience leads to being “the tail” and “beneath” (v. 15). God’s perfect will is for our elevation, not our degradation.

    The Call to Reject Mediocrity

Pastor E.A. Adeboye uses powerful anecdotes and biblical narratives to challenge a mindset that has infected many believers: the acceptance and even celebration of average results. This devotional is a spiritual injection to awaken a passion for God’s best.

    The Peril of Low Expectations

    • A Matter of Perspective: The contrasting stories of the two school principals serve as a masterclass in vision. One saw a Grade 3 as a historic achievement, setting a low bar for future generations. The other saw it as a tragic failure, upholding a high standard that inspires excellence. Your perspective on what constitutes success will determine your destiny.
    • God’s Nature is Excellence: The Creator of the universe, who declared His work “good,” is not a God of mediocrity. To celebrate average when He has ordained excellence is to misunderstand His character and dishonor the potential He has placed within you.

    Biblical Blueprints for Excellence

    • The Progressive River (Ezekiel 47:1-5): This vision is a metaphor for the Christian journey.
      • Ankle-Deep: A place of initial salvation and comfort, but with minimal impact.
      • Knee-Deep: A deeper level of commitment, yet one where you still stand on your own understanding.
      • Waist-Deep: A place of significant depth where your own strength and control are challenged.
      • A River to Swim In: The place of total surrender, where you are carried by the current of the Holy Spirit. This is the dimension of supernatural influence, abundance, and power God desires for every believer.
    • The Pursuit of Elisha (2 Kings 2:1-15):
      • The Sons of the Prophets: They symbolize the average believer—informed (“we know”) but passive, content with revelation without transformation. They observed God’s move from a safe distance.
      • The Passion of Elisha: He symbolizes the excellent believer—relentless (“I will not leave thee”), focused, and audacious in his request (“double portion”). He was not content with the anointing on his master; he wanted a generational upgrade for himself. His pursuit was rewarded with a mantle that parted rivers and defined a era.

    The Foundation of Godly Excellence

This pursuit is not for self-glorification. It is rooted in:

    • Obedience: Excellence is a fruit of covenant obedience to God’s commands (Deuteronomy 28:1).
    • Empowerment: It is achieved through the power of the Holy Spirit, not mere human striving (Zechariah 4:6).
    • Purpose: The ultimate goal is to glorify God. When we are the “head,” we become a clearer reflection of His majesty to the world (Matthew 5:16).

How to Cultivate a Life of Excellence

    Embrace a Holy Dissatisfaction:
Allow the Holy Spirit to disrupt your comfort zone. Like Daddy Adeboye’s teacher, let a voice in your spirit say, “You can do more. This is not your final destination.”

Measure by God’s Standard, Not Man’s:
Stop comparing yourself to others. The world celebrates Grade 3; heaven weeps over it. Measure your life against the plumb line of God’s Word and His promises for you.

    Pursue Relentlessly:
Be like Elisha. Cling to the source of your blessing (God) through persistent prayer, unwavering faith, and studied obedience. Refuse to be left behind.

Warning: The Seduction of the Average

The company of the average is comfortable and non-threatening. It requires no extra prayer, no fasting, no faith, and no risk. However, it is also the place where destinies are aborted, miracles are missed, and legacies are lost. To accept average is to choose to be the tail when God has called you to be the head.

Conclusion: Step Into Your Place of Headship

    Pray this:
“Lord God Almighty, burn out every trace of complacency and mediocrity from my spirit. Ignite in me a holy fire to pursue Your absolute best. Give me the tenacity of Elisha and the excellence of Daniel. By Your grace, position me as the head and not the tail, so that my life will be a undeniable testament to Your greatness, in Jesus’ mighty name.”

    Action Steps:

    1. Conduct an Audit: Honestly assess areas of your life (finances, spiritual discipline, career, relationships) where you have settled for “good enough.”
    2. Declare God’s Word: Proclaim Deuteronomy 28:13 over your life daily. Let it rewrite the narrative of your destiny.
    3. Study Excellence: Read and meditate on the lives of Joseph, Daniel, and Elisha. Note the choices that set them apart.
    4. Pray for Upgrade: Dedicate time to fast and pray specifically for a divine shift from average to exceptional in your assigned field.

Remember: Your heavenly Father is not holding back. He withholds no good thing from those who walk uprightly (Psalm 84:11). His will is for you to be above only. Do not settle for wading in ankle-deep water when He is calling you into a river you cannot cross.

“And the LORD shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath…” (Deuteronomy 28:13). Let this be your reality.
