    TOPIC: THE DANGERS OF FAME

    MEMORISE:

And Saul said unto Samuel, I have sinned: for I have transgressed the commandment of the LORD, and thy words: because I feared the people, and obeyed their voice.
    1 Samuel 15:24

    READ: 1 Samuel 15:1-31

1 Samuel also said unto Saul, The Lord sent me to anoint thee to be king over his people, over Israel: now therefore hearken thou unto the voice of the words of the Lord.
2 Thus saith the Lord of hosts, I remember that which Amalek did to Israel, how he laid wait for him in the way, when he came up from Egypt.
3 Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass.
4 And Saul gathered the people together, and numbered them in Telaim, two hundred thousand footmen, and ten thousand men of Judah.
5 And Saul came to a city of Amalek, and laid wait in the valley.

6 And Saul said unto the Kenites, Go, depart, get you down from among the Amalekites, lest I destroy you with them: for ye shewed kindness to all the children of Israel, when they came up out of Egypt. So the Kenites departed from among the Amalekites.
7 And Saul smote the Amalekites from Havilah until thou comest to Shur, that is over against Egypt.
8 And he took Agag the king of the Amalekites alive, and utterly destroyed all the people with the edge of the sword.
9 But Saul and the people spared Agag, and the best of the sheep, and of the oxen, and of the fatlings, and the lambs, and all that was good, and would not utterly destroy them: but every thing that was vile and refuse, that they destroyed utterly.
10 Then came the word of the Lord unto Samuel, saying,

11 It repenteth me that I have set up Saul to be king: for he is turned back from following me, and hath not performed my commandments. And it grieved Samuel; and he cried unto the Lord all night.
12 And when Samuel rose early to meet Saul in the morning, it was told Samuel, saying, Saul came to Carmel, and, behold, he set him up a place, and is gone about, and passed on, and gone down to Gilgal.
13 And Samuel came to Saul: and Saul said unto him, Blessed be thou of the Lord: I have performed the commandment of the Lord.
14 And Samuel said, What meaneth then this bleating of the sheep in mine ears, and the lowing of the oxen which I hear?
15 And Saul said, They have brought them from the Amalekites: for the people spared the best of the sheep and of the oxen, to sacrifice unto the Lord thy God; and the rest we have utterly destroyed.

16 Then Samuel said unto Saul, Stay, and I will tell thee what the Lord hath said to me this night. And he said unto him, Say on.
17 And Samuel said, When thou wast little in thine own sight, wast thou not made the head of the tribes of Israel, and the Lord anointed thee king over Israel?
18 And the Lord sent thee on a journey, and said, Go and utterly destroy the sinners the Amalekites, and fight against them until they be consumed.
19 Wherefore then didst thou not obey the voice of the Lord, but didst fly upon the spoil, and didst evil in the sight of the Lord?
20 And Saul said unto Samuel, Yea, I have obeyed the voice of the Lord, and have gone the way which the Lord sent me, and have brought Agag the king of Amalek, and have utterly destroyed the Amalekites.

21 But the people took of the spoil, sheep and oxen, the chief of the things which should have been utterly destroyed, to sacrifice unto the Lord thy God in Gilgal.
22 And Samuel said, Hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.
23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the Lord, he hath also rejected thee from being king.
24 And Saul said unto Samuel, I have sinned: for I have transgressed the commandment of the Lord, and thy words: because I feared the people, and obeyed their voice.
25 Now therefore, I pray thee, pardon my sin, and turn again with me, that I may worship the Lord.

26 And Samuel said unto Saul, I will not return with thee: for thou hast rejected the word of the Lord, and the Lord hath rejected thee from being king over Israel.
27 And as Samuel turned about to go away, he laid hold upon the skirt of his mantle, and it rent.
28 And Samuel said unto him, The Lord hath rent the kingdom of Israel from thee this day, and hath given it to a neighbour of thine, that is better than thou.
29 And also the Strength of Israel will not lie nor repent: for he is not a man, that he should repent.
30 Then he said, I have sinned: yet honour me now, I pray thee, before the elders of my people, and before Israel, and turn again with me, that I may worship the Lord thy God.
31 So Samuel turned again after Saul; and Saul worshipped the Lord.

As the fining pot for silver, and the furnace for gold; so is a man to his praise. Proverbs 27:21

People should not chase after fame because of its potency to destroy. In 1 Samuel 9:1, Saul’s father, Kish, was described as a mighty man of power who was also wealthy. Yet, Saul was obviously very humble because when his father sent him to search for their lost donkeys, he went without complaining. Even during the search, he listened to his servant’s advice to seek a prophet’s counsel concerning the lost animals (1 Samuel 9:6-8).

When he became the king of Israel, he was humble in the first two years of his reign until he began to seek the approval of men. Saul forgot that it was God who appointed him king, and he began to chase after endorsements from men. The first time he did this was when the Philistines gathered against him, and Samuel delayed before joining him at Gilgal. When he saw the people scattering from him, he did what he wasn’t supposed to do by offering the burnt offering (1 Samuel 13:7-10). He did the wrong thing because he wanted to gain the people’s attention and approval. It was a costly mistake because it earned him God’s disapproval.

When we allow the desire to gain people’s approval to move us into doing the wrong things, we have set ourselves against God.

In 1 Samuel 15, despite his earlier mistake, God gave Saul a chance to repent. He instructed him to destroy the Amalekites. God’s command was clear: utterly destroy them and spare no one (1 Samuel 15:3). However, Saul, in his blind lust to be ‘a man of the people, went against God’s instructions (1 Samuel 15:24).

When we seek fame above serving God, we have fallen into the trap of the fear of man because the Bible says that the fear of man brings a snare (Proverbs 29:25).

People who desperately seek fame will compromise God’s standards to please people. At the end of the day, such people, like Saul, will lose out because God will not trust a man who desperately desires fame with the precious matters of His Kingdom.

Beloved, do not chase after the approval of men. Rather, let God’s approval be your primary motivation. When you fear the Lord and serve Him wholeheartedly, He will position you to influence others for Him.

HYMN 34: YIELD NOT TO TEMPTATION

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 4 JUNE 2025 COMMENTARY

The Test of Praise and Approval

Proverbs 27:21 compares a man to a refining pot—how he responds to praise and recognition reveals his true character. King Saul’s downfall began when he shifted his focus from pleasing God to seeking human approval. His story serves as a sobering warning for believers today.

    1. Saul’s Humble Beginnings vs. His Downfall

    A. The Humble Saul (1 Samuel 9:1-8)

    • Background: Saul came from a wealthy, influential family (1 Samuel 9:1).
    • Character: Despite his status, he was humble and obedient—willing to search for lost donkeys and listen to his servant’s advice (1 Samuel 9:6-8).
    • Appointment: God chose him not because of his achievements but because of his potential for obedience (1 Samuel 10:1).

    B. The Turning Point: Seeking Man’s Approval

Saul’s downfall came in three key moments:

    1. Offering the Sacrifice Without Samuel (1 Samuel 13:7-10)
      • Samuel delayed, and Saul’s army scattered.
      • Instead of waiting on God, Saul disobeyed and offered the sacrifice himself to appear strong before the people.
      • Consequence: God rejected him as king (1 Samuel 13:14).
    2. Sparing Agag and the Best of the Amalekites (1 Samuel 15:1-9)
      • God commanded complete destruction, but Saul spared King Agag and the best livestock to please the people.
      • Excuse: “The people took of the spoil…” (1 Samuel 15:21).
      • Consequence: “Rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft” (1 Samuel 15:23).
    3. Confessing His True Motive (1 Samuel 15:24)
      • Saul admitted: “I feared the people and obeyed their voice.”
      • Root Issue: He valued man’s praise over God’s command.

    Lesson:

    • Fear of man leads to disobedience.
    • Compromise for popularity is rebellion against God.

    2. The Trap of Seeking Fame and Approval

    A. The Fear of Man is a Snare (Proverbs 29:25)

    • Saul’s desire to be liked led him to:
      • Disobey God’s clear instructions.
      • Make excuses instead of repenting.
      • Lose his divine assignment.

    B. Fame Distorts Priorities

    • Worldly fame demands:
      • Compromise.
      • People-pleasing.
      • Self-promotion.
    • Godly influence requires:
      • Obedience.
      • Humility.
      • Faithfulness in secret (Matthew 6:4).

    Lesson:

    • If you chase applause, you’ll lose God’s approval.
    • True greatness comes from serving God, not seeking recognition.

    3. How to Avoid Saul’s Mistake

    A. Seek God’s Approval First (Galatians 1:10)

    • “If I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.”
    • Ask: “Am I doing this for God or for people’s praise?”

    B. Obey God Fully, Not Partially

    • Saul’s 90% obedience was still 100% disobedience.
    • Partial obedience = Disobedience.

    C. Repent Quickly When You Fail

    • Saul made excuses (1 Samuel 15:20-21).
    • David repented immediately (Psalm 51).
    • God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble (James 4:6).

    D. Let God Promote You (Psalm 75:6-7)

    • “Promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. But God is the judge: He putteth down one, and setteth up another.”
    • Example: Joseph remained faithful in prison before God exalted him (Genesis 41:14).

    Prayer Declaration

“Father, deliver me from the fear of man. Help me to seek Your approval above all else. Let my heart be fully obedient to You, not swayed by the opinions of others. Align my desires with Your will, and use me for Your glory alone, in Jesus’ name. Amen.”

Conclusion: Whose Approval Are You Chasing?

Saul’s tragedy was not his enemies but his desire for human validation. His story warns us:
    Fame is a dangerous master.
    God rewards faithfulness, not popularity.
True success comes from fearing God, not man.

    Final Thought:
“If God be for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31). When God approves you, no man’s rejection can stop His plan for your life.

TOPIC: PRAISE: A WEAPON OF WAR

    MEMORISE:

O LORD, thou art my God; I will exalt thee, I will praise thy name; for thou hast done wonderful things; thy counsels of old are faithfulness and truth.
    Isaiah 25:1

    READ: 2 Chronicles 20:1-28

1 It came to pass after this also, that the children of Moab, and the children of Ammon, and with them other beside the Ammonites, came against Jehoshaphat to battle.
2 Then there came some that told Jehoshaphat, saying, There cometh a great multitude against thee from beyond the sea on this side Syria; and, behold, they be in Hazazontamar, which is Engedi.
3 And Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself to seek the Lord, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah.
4 And Judah gathered themselves together, to ask help of the Lord: even out of all the cities of Judah they came to seek the Lord.
5 And Jehoshaphat stood in the congregation of Judah and Jerusalem, in the house of the Lord, before the new court,

6 And said, O Lord God of our fathers, art not thou God in heaven? and rulest not thou over all the kingdoms of the heathen? and in thine hand is there not power and might, so that none is able to withstand thee?
7 Art not thou our God, who didst drive out the inhabitants of this land before thy people Israel, and gavest it to the seed of Abraham thy friend for ever?
8 And they dwelt therein, and have built thee a sanctuary therein for thy name, saying,
9 If, when evil cometh upon us, as the sword, judgment, or pestilence, or famine, we stand before this house, and in thy presence, (for thy name is in this house,) and cry unto thee in our affliction, then thou wilt hear and help.
    10 And now, behold, the children of Ammon and Moab and mount Seir, whom thou wouldest not let Israel invade, when they came out of the land of Egypt, but they turned from them, and destroyed them not;

11 Behold, I say, how they reward us, to come to cast us out of thy possession, which thou hast given us to inherit.
12 O our God, wilt thou not judge them? for we have no might against this great company that cometh against us; neither know we what to do: but our eyes are upon thee.
13 And all Judah stood before the Lord, with their little ones, their wives, and their children.
    14 Then upon Jahaziel the son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, a Levite of the sons of Asaph, came the Spirit of the Lord in the midst of the congregation;
15 And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the Lord unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God’s.

16 To morrow go ye down against them: behold, they come up by the cliff of Ziz; and ye shall find them at the end of the brook, before the wilderness of Jeruel.
17 Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the Lord with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; to morrow go out against them: for the Lord will be with you.
18 And Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground: and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fell before the Lord, worshipping the Lord.
19 And the Levites, of the children of the Kohathites, and of the children of the Korhites, stood up to praise the Lord God of Israel with a loud voice on high.
20 And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the Lord your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.

21 And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers unto the Lord, and that should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army, and to say, Praise the Lord; for his mercy endureth for ever.
22 And when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten.
23 For the children of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of mount Seir, utterly to slay and destroy them: and when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, every one helped to destroy another.
24 And when Judah came toward the watch tower in the wilderness, they looked unto the multitude, and, behold, they were dead bodies fallen to the earth, and none escaped.
25 And when Jehoshaphat and his people came to take away the spoil of them, they found among them in abundance both riches with the dead bodies, and precious jewels, which they stripped off for themselves, more than they could carry away: and they were three days in gathering of the spoil, it was so much.

26 And on the fourth day they assembled themselves in the valley of Berachah; for there they blessed the Lord: therefore the name of the same place was called, The valley of Berachah, unto this day.
27 Then they returned, every man of Judah and Jerusalem, and Jehoshaphat in the forefront of them, to go again to Jerusalem with joy; for the Lord had made them to rejoice over their enemies.
28 And they came to Jerusalem with psalteries and harps and trumpets unto the house of the Lord.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 3 JUNE 2025 TODAY MESSAGE

Praise is a weapon that turns situations men have already tagged ‘hopeless’ into joyful ones. In today’s Bible reading, three mighty nations came against Jehoshaphat and the children of Judah. It was a seemingly hopeless situation, but God instructed Jehoshaphat to leave every weapon behind and put the singers at the battlefront to give praises to Him. Interestingly, the enemies destroyed each other, and all the children of Judah needed to do was take away the treasures the three great armies brought along with them to the battle.

When Paul and Silas were thrown into prison unjustly, they engaged the weapon of praise. As they praised God, their chains fell off, and the prison doors opened (Acts 16:25- 26). I pray in the name above every name, as you engage the weapon of praise, every situation tagged hopeless in your life will be turned around for your good. The Lord will turn your mourning into dancing and fill you with joy, in Jesus’ name.

In Joshua 6:2-5, the city of Jericho was shut in as a means of protection from the Israelites, and the only available option was to mount a siege that could last for months. God, however, gave Joshua a strategy that made the wall of Jericho fall down without any physical weapon within seven days. When the people shouted loudly after the priests blew the trumpet, the wall fell down flat (Joshua 6:20). If you are faced with a challenge of any kind and you are yet to get results even after fasting and praying, then you should praise God. When everything else fails, praise will not. Praise attracts God’s presence; He inhabits the praises of His people (Psalm 22:3).

When we praise God, we transfer our battles to Him, and He arises on our behalf.

Praise creates a joyful atmosphere around us, and it is with joy that we draw solutions and answers out of the wells of salvation (Isaiah 12:3). As long as the enemy can keep a fellow sorrowful, he can steal his or her miracles. As long as Hannah was in bitterness of soul, her womb remained closed. However, the moment she arose, wiped her tears, and became joyful, the Lord remembered her (1 Samuel 1:10-19).

Beloved, are you expecting anything from the Lord? Do you desire a change in your circumstances? Stop whining, complaining, and wearing a sorrowful countenance. Engage the weapon of praise, and my God will remember you and bless you, in Jesus’ name.

HYMN 1: ALL HAIL THE POWER OF JESUS’ NAME

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 3 JUNE 2025 COMMENTARY

    Praise as a Divine Weapon

In spiritual warfare, praise is not just an act of worship—it is a powerful weapon that confuses the enemy, dismantles strongholds, and releases divine intervention. When human strength fails, praise invites God’s presence to fight on our behalf.

    1. Praise Turns Hopeless Situations Around

    A. The Story of Jehoshaphat (2 Chronicles 20:1-28)

    • Three powerful armies (Moab, Ammon, and Mount Seir) came against Judah.
    • Jehoshaphat was afraid but sought God in prayer and fasting (v.3).
    • God’s response: “The battle is not yours, but God’s” (v.15).
    • Divine Strategy: Instead of sending soldiers, Jehoshaphat sent praise singers ahead of the army (v.21).
    • Result: The enemy armies turned on each other, and Judah only had to gather the spoils (v.22-24).

    Lesson:

    • When faced with impossible battles, praise shifts the fight from your hands to God’s.
    • God fights differently—sometimes without you lifting a finger (Exodus 14:14).

    B. Paul and Silas in Prison (Acts 16:25-26)

    • Beaten and imprisoned unjustly, they prayed and sang praises at midnight.
    • Result:
      • Earthquake shook the prison.
      • Chains fell off.
      • Doors opened supernaturally.

    Lesson:

    • Praise in the darkest hour triggers divine intervention.
    • Your worship can break spiritual and physical chains.

    2. Praise Brings Down Strongholds (Joshua 6:2-5)

    • Jericho’s walls were impenetrable, but God’s strategy was unconventional:
      • March around the city for 7 days.
      • On the 7th day, shout after the trumpet blast.
    • Result: The walls collapsed without a single weapon used (Joshua 6:20).

    Lesson:

    • Some battles are won not by fighting harder but by praising louder.
    • Praise dismantles invisible barriers (2 Corinthians 10:4).

    3. Praise Creates a Climate for Miracles

    A. God Inhabits Praise (Psalm 22:3)

    • When we praise, God dwells in our midst, shifting atmospheres.

    B. Joy Releases Answers (Isaiah 12:3)

    • “Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation.”
    • Hannah’s Example (1 Samuel 1:10-19):
      • She was broken and weeping—her womb remained closed.
      • When she stopped mourning and worshipped, God opened her womb.

    Lesson:

    • The enemy tries to keep you in sorrow to block your miracle.
    • Praise shifts your focus from the problem to God’s power.

    4. Practical Steps to Engage the Weapon of Praise

    1. Praise Before the Breakthrough (Like Paul & Silas).
    2. Praise Instead of Complaining (Like Jehoshaphat).
    3. Praise with Expectation (Like Joshua at Jericho).
    4. Praise with Joy (Like Hannah after her prayer).

    Prayer Declaration

“Father, I lift my voice in praise today! I refuse to be discouraged. As I worship You, let every chain break, every wall fall, and every enemy scatter. Turn my mourning into dancing and fill my mouth with testimonies, in Jesus’ name. Amen!”

    Conclusion

Praise is not just a response to victory—it is a pathway to victory. When you don’t know what else to do, PRAISE GOD! Your worship will confuse the enemy, attract God’s presence, and release supernatural breakthroughs.

    Key Takeaways for Reflection:

Praise is warfare. It disarms the enemy.
God fights differently. He works while you worship.
Joy activates miracles. Don’t let sorrow steal your breakthrough.

    TOPIC: A NEW SONG

    MEMORISE:

And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.
    Psalms 40:3

    READ: Exodus 15:1-21

1 Then sang Moses and the children of Israel this song unto the Lord, and spake, saying, I will sing unto the Lord, for he hath triumphed gloriously: the horse and his rider hath he thrown into the sea.
2 The Lord is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: he is my God, and I will prepare him an habitation; my father’s God, and I will exalt him.
3 The Lord is a man of war: the Lord is his name.
4 Pharaoh’s chariots and his host hath he cast into the sea: his chosen captains also are drowned in the Red sea.
5 The depths have covered them: they sank into the bottom as a stone.

6 Thy right hand, O Lord, is become glorious in power: thy right hand, O Lord, hath dashed in pieces the enemy.
7 And in the greatness of thine excellency thou hast overthrown them that rose up against thee: thou sentest forth thy wrath, which consumed them as stubble.
8 And with the blast of thy nostrils the waters were gathered together, the floods stood upright as an heap, and the depths were congealed in the heart of the sea.
9 The enemy said, I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil; my lust shall be satisfied upon them; I will draw my sword, my hand shall destroy them.
10 Thou didst blow with thy wind, the sea covered them: they sank as lead in the mighty waters.

11 Who is like unto thee, O Lord, among the gods? who is like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?
12 Thou stretchedst out thy right hand, the earth swallowed them.
13 Thou in thy mercy hast led forth the people which thou hast redeemed: thou hast guided them in thy strength unto thy holy habitation.
14 The people shall hear, and be afraid: sorrow shall take hold on the inhabitants of Palestina.
15 Then the dukes of Edom shall be amazed; the mighty men of Moab, trembling shall take hold upon them; all the inhabitants of Canaan shall melt away.

16 Fear and dread shall fall upon them; by the greatness of thine arm they shall be as still as a stone; till thy people pass over, O Lord, till the people pass over, which thou hast purchased.
17 Thou shalt bring them in, and plant them in the mountain of thine inheritance, in the place, O Lord, which thou hast made for thee to dwell in, in the Sanctuary, O Lord, which thy hands have established.
18 The Lord shall reign for ever and ever.
19 For the horse of Pharaoh went in with his chariots and with his horsemen into the sea, and the Lord brought again the waters of the sea upon them; but the children of Israel went on dry land in the midst of the sea.
20 And Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a timbrel in her hand; and all the women went out after her with timbrels and with dances.
21 And Miriam answered them, Sing ye to the Lord, for he hath triumphed gloriously; the horse and his rider hath he thrown into the sea.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 2 JUNE 2025 TODAY MESSAGE

A young fellow once gained admission into a university abroad and celebrated with his friends and family. However, during the celebration, one of his father’s enemies said to himself, “This boy is going abroad; if he succeeds over there, he will return and buy his father a car. I will give him something to carry along that will ensure that he fails,” so he diabolically inflicted the boy with a strange ailment. The boy got to his school and began to feel a terrible pain in his body. Doctors examined him thoroughly and could not diagnose what was wrong with him.

After six years of living in pain, he returned to Nigeria and attended one of our programmes that was held at Ibadan Grammar School. While I was ministering, the power of God hit him, and the pain disappeared. He started shouting, “It is gone!” God gave him a new song after six years of torment, and He can do the same for everyone who cries out to Him in faith (Romans 10:11-13).

In 1994, the RCCG held a programme in Lagos tagged ‘The Battle of the gods’. A man who attended the programme was suffering from four killer diseases: hypertension, diabetes, meningitis, and a heart problem. His doctors had advised him to travel abroad, and while planning to do so, he decided to come for the programme. The power of the Almighty God touched him; he was healed of all four diseases and was given a new song.

When the LORD turned again the captivity of Zion…Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing… Psalm 126:1-2

One of the proofs that God has turned around people’s captivity is that their tongues will be filled with songs of joy. New songs always accompany deliverance, salvation, and miracles.

In today’s Bible reading, after the Israelites crossed the Red Sea and watched their enemies drown, they sang a new song to God. Moses and Miriam composed new songs, and everyone sang along to praise God for His wonderful miracles. Deborah also sang a new song after God gave them victory over Sisera and Jabin, the king of the Canaanites (Judges 5:1-31). Hannah was another person who received a new song from the Lord after she birthed Samuel (1 Samuel 2:1-10). I pray that the Lord will fill your mouth with songs of joy and laughter and give every member of your family new songs before the end of this year, in Jesus’ name.

    PRAYER POINT:

Lord, please fill my mouth with new songs of Your goodness and mercy, in Jesus’ name.

    BIBLE IN ONE YEAR

    Job 25-30

HYMN 25: THE GREAT PHYSICIANS NOW IS NEAR

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 2 JUNE 2025 COMMENTARY

The Power of a New Song

new song in the Bible symbolizes divine intervention—deliverance from suffering, victory over enemies, and breakthrough after long periods of waiting. When God steps into a situation, He replaces sorrow with joy, pain with praise, and defeat with triumph.

    Testimonies of Divine Intervention

The devotional shares two powerful testimonies:

    1. The Young Man with a Strange Ailment
      • After gaining admission abroad, an enemy afflicted him with an undiagnosable sickness.
      • For six years, he suffered until he encountered God’s power in a service.
      • Instantly, the pain vanished, and he received his new song of deliverance.
    2. The Man with Four Killer Diseases
      • Diagnosed with hypertension, diabetes, meningitis, and a heart condition, doctors advised him to seek treatment abroad.
      • Before traveling, he attended an RCCG program (“Battle of the Gods”) and was completely healed—receiving a new song of testimony.

Lesson: No situation is beyond God’s power. Whether it’s spiritual attacks, sickness, or prolonged suffering, God can break every chain and give you a new song.

    Biblical Examples of New Songs

    1. Israel at the Red Sea (Exodus 15:1-21)
      • After their miraculous deliverance from Pharaoh’s army, Moses and Miriam led the Israelites in a new song of victory.
    2. Deborah’s Song of Victory (Judges 5:1-31)
      • When God defeated Sisera and the Canaanites, Deborah and Barak sang a triumphant new song.
    3. Hannah’s Song of Joy (1 Samuel 2:1-10)
      • After years of barrenness, Hannah gave birth to Samuel and sang a prophetic song of praise.

    Key Insight:

    • new song is not just literal—it represents a transformed life.
    • It means God has turned your mourning into dancing (Psalm 30:11).

How to Receive Your New Song

    1. Cry Out to God in Faith (Romans 10:11-13)
      • Like the young man in the testimony, desperation and faith attract divine intervention.
    2. Position Yourself for a Miracle
      • The sick man attended a program where God’s power was present. Be where God is moving!
    3. Praise in Advance
      • The Israelites sang after their victory, but sometimes, praise precedes the breakthrough (Acts 16:25-26).
    4. Testify of God’s Goodness
      • Your new song is not just for you—it inspires others to trust God (Psalm 40:3).

    Prayer Point

“Father, give me a new song! Turn every pain into praise, every struggle into a testimony. Let my life declare Your glory, in Jesus’ name. Amen.”

    Conclusion

God specializes in rewriting stories. Just as He gave the Israelites, Deborah, and Hannah new songs, He can replace your sorrow with unspeakable joy (1 Peter 1:8). Your season of singing is here!

    Key Takeaways for Personal Reflection:
No suffering is permanent. God can end years of pain suddenly.
Divine healing is real. Trust God beyond medical reports.
Your testimony will inspire faith in others. Don’t keep silent.

    TOPIC: A NEW NAME

    MEMORISE:

And the Gentiles shall see thy righteousness, and all kings thy glory: and thou shalt be called by a new name, which the mouth of the LORD shall name.
    Isaiah 62:2

    READ: Genesis 17:1-15

And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the Lord appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.
2 And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly.
3 And Abram fell on his face: and God talked with him, saying,
4 As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations.
5 Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee.

6 And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee.
7 And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee.
8 And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land wherein thou art a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God.
9 And God said unto Abraham, Thou shalt keep my covenant therefore, thou, and thy seed after thee in their generations.
10 This is my covenant, which ye shall keep, between me and you and thy seed after thee; Every man child among you shall be circumcised.

11 And ye shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin; and it shall be a token of the covenant betwixt me and you.
12 And he that is eight days old shall be circumcised among you, every man child in your generations, he that is born in the house, or bought with money of any stranger, which is not of thy seed
13 He that is born in thy house, and he that is bought with thy money, must needs be circumcised: and my covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant.
14 And the uncircumcised man child whose flesh of his foreskin is not circumcised, that soul shall be cut off from his people; he hath broken my covenant.
15 And God said unto Abraham, As for Sarai thy wife, thou shalt not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall her name be.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 1 JUNE 2025 TODAY MESSAGE

Many people are called by names they were not given at birth. They may not be called these names to their faces, but in their absence, people refer to them with those names. Sometimes, these names are not based on their good qualities but on qualities they are not proud of.

For example, in Mark 10:46-52, the Bible tells us about a blind man called Bartimaeus whom Jesus restored his sight. To date, however, people still refer to him as ‘Blind Bartimaeus’. I don’t know if people are currently calling you negative names, but I know that my God can change your story for good such that you won’t have those negative qualities the world describes you by anymore, and they will have no other choice than to call you a new name.

Whenever God sees that a name is hindering His work in a fellow’s life, He can change the name as He did with Abraham. Abraham was first called Abram, and although this name had a good meaning – exalted father – it didn’t fully capture what God had in store for him.

Therefore, God had a conversation with him one day and said, “I want to make you a father of many nations, but your name is hindering Me from doing so. Henceforth, you will no longer be called Abram but Abraham because I have made you a father of many nations.” God also changed the name of his wife from Sarai to Sarah, which was more suitable for the matriarch she was to become (Genesis 17:3-16).

When I was a lecturer at the University of Lagos, a typist, whom everyone jokingly called ‘Prof’, made a life changing decision. He said to himself, “I am a typist, but everyone calls me ‘prof’. I will indeed become a professor.” He started taking evening classes, and after a while, he wrote his exams and gained admission into the University of Lagos. Before I left the University of Lagos, the typist was already studying for his Ph.D. He made up his mind to truly change his name and not to remain a joke.

Beloved, you can also make up your mind to have a brand new beginning by surrendering all to God and asking Him to change any negative name that is hindering His glory from being manifested in your life. I pray that God will turn around any negative situation that men define you by and fill your life with joy and laughter, in Jesus’ name.

Father, please change every name that might be hindering Your glory from manifesting in my life, in Jesus’ name.

HYMN 25: THE GREAT PHYSICIANS NOW IS NEAR

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 1 JUNE 2025 COMMENTARY

    The Power of a Name

Names carry weight—they shape identity, influence destiny, and sometimes reflect the condition of a person’s life. Many people are called names they did not receive at birth. Some are labeled based on their struggles, failures, or limitations. But God has the power to rewrite your story and give you a new name that reflects His purpose for your life.

Negative Labels and God’s Transforming Power

Today’s devotional highlights the story of Bartimaeus (Mark 10:46-52), a blind man whom Jesus healed. Despite his healing, people still referred to him as “Blind Bartimaeus.” This shows how past struggles can stick as labels, even after God has moved.

Perhaps you’ve been called names like:

    • “Failure”
    • “Unlucky”
    • “Barren”
    • “Poor”
    • “Rejected”

But God can change your story so dramatically that people will have no choice but to call you by a new name—one that reflects His glory.

    Biblical Examples of Name Changes

    1. Abram to Abraham (Genesis 17:5)
      • Abram meant “exalted father,” but Abraham meant “father of many nations.” God didn’t just change his name—He expanded his destiny.
    2. Sarai to Sarah (Genesis 17:15)
      • Sarai meant “my princess,” but Sarah meant “mother of nations.” God was setting her up for a greater purpose.

When God changes a name, He changes a destiny.

A Personal Testimony: From “Typist” to “Professor”

Daddy Adeboye shares a powerful testimony of a university typist whom people jokingly called “Prof.”Instead of accepting it as a joke, he took it as a prophecy. He enrolled in evening classes, pursued his education, and eventually began his Ph.D. before the writer left the university.

Lesson: What are people calling you—jokingly or seriously? Could it be a divine prophecy? Don’t let negative labels define you. Let them motivate you to rise higher through Christ.

How to Receive Your New Name

    1. Surrender to God – Let Him redefine your life.
    2. Renounce Negative Labels – Reject every name that doesn’t align with God’s purpose.
    3. Claim God’s Promises – Declare His Word over your life (Isaiah 62:2).
    4. Pursue Your New Identity – Like the typist, take practical steps toward your God-given destiny.

    Prayer Point

“Father, change every negative name attached to my life. Rewrite my story so that the world will see Your glory in me. Give me a new name that reflects Your purpose, in Jesus’ name. Amen.”

    Conclusion

God doesn’t see you by your past or present struggles. He sees you through the lens of His promises. If He changed Abram to Abraham, Jacob to Israel, and Saul to Paul, He can change your name too. Step into your new identity in Christ!

    TOPIC: SURRENDER ALL

    MEMORISE

And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name’s sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.
    Matthew 19:29

    READ: 1 Kings 19:19-21

19 So he departed thence, and found Elisha the son of Shaphat, who was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen before him, and he with the twelfth: and Elijah passed by him, and cast his mantle upon him.
20 And he left the oxen, and ran after Elijah, and said, Let me, I pray thee, kiss my father and my mother, and then I will follow thee. And he said unto him, Go back again: for what have I done to thee?
21 And he returned back from him, and took a yoke of oxen, and slew them, and boiled their flesh with the instruments of the oxen, and gave unto the people, and they did eat. Then he arose, and went after Elijah, and ministered unto him.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 31 MAY 2025 TODAY MESSAGE

When Elijah went to Elisha’s farm and threw his mantle on him, Elisha didn’t waste time before he surrendered all to answer God’s call. Elisha seemed to be a rich fellow because Elijah met him plowing with twelve yokes of oxen when he passed by him. However, Elisha didn’t count this as anything because he returned home, killed a yoke of oxen, gave it to his people, and followed Elijah to become his servant. Within a day, the manager of an apparently thriving agricultural business became a prophet’s servant.

Elisha ministered to Elijah and was known as the one who poured water on the hands of Elijah (2 Kings 3:11). The blessings Elisha got for surrendering all in service to God are unquantifiable. He received a double portion of Elijah’s anointing (2 Kings 2:9-15), became a father to kings (2 Kings 6:21), and even after his death, his dry bones raised a dead man back to life (2 Kings 13:21). When a man surrenders all to the One who made him, he will live an impactful life.

From Elisha’s story, we see that lasting greatness begins with absolute surrender. Any seed that will count for anything, must first enter into the soil and die. It must surrender its beauty and strength so as to rot in the earth before new life can sprout from it. Jesus said:

Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.
He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal. John 12:24-25

Beloved, surrender all to the One who made you, and He will guide you aright. When you surrender your life to God, you are asking Him to help you because you don’t know the best way to live your life. In John 15:5, Jesus said,

“Without me, you can do nothing.” Paul also knew the secret to absolute surrender, and that is why he said, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13).

Those who surrender all to Jesus will gain more in the end. However, those who keep a part of their lives, like Ananias and Sapphira in Acts 5:1-2 end up losing even more than the things they are trying to keep.

    PRAYER POINT

Father, please help me to surrender all to You wholeheartedly.

RCCG HYMN 7: I AM THINE O LORD.

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 31 MAY 2025 COMMENTARY

    Memorise: Matthew 19:29 (KJV)

This verse encapsulates the divine principle that total surrender to God’s call brings multiplied blessings both now and eternally.

Bible Reading: 1 Kings 19:19-21 (KJV)

Elisha’s radical response to Elijah’s mantle symbolizes the complete consecration required for supernatural destiny fulfillment.

Key Insights from Today’s Open Heaven Devotional

    1. The Anatomy of Elisha’s Surrender

    1. Immediate Obedience
      • No hesitation when called (v.20: “he left the oxen”)
      • Contrasted with Luke 9:61’s “let me first…” excuses
    2. Total Break from Past
      • Destroyed farming equipment (v.21)
      • Burned bridges to former life
    3. Humble Service
      • Became Elijah’s water-pourer (2 Kings 3:11)
      • Served before reigning

    2. The Divine Exchange Principle

    What Elisha SurrenderedWhat He Gained
12 yoke of oxen (wealth)Double portion anointing
    Family inheritanceFather to kings
    Agricultural businessResurrection power in bones
    Independent lifeEternal legacy

    3. Jesus’ Teaching on Surrender (John 12:24-25)

    • Paradox of Kingdom Economics:
      1. Death precedes multiplication (v.24)
      2. Release guarantees preservation (v.25)
      3. Service leads to greatness (Mark 10:43-44)

    4. Modern Examples of Radical Surrender

    1. The Author’s Testimony
      • Left academia for ministry
      • Endured early hardships in Redemption City
    2. Biblical Warnings
      • Ananias/Sapphira: Partial surrender (Acts 5:1-11)
      • Rich Young Ruler: Clung to wealth (Matthew 19:22)

    5. The Blessings of Total Consecration

    1. Supernatural Empowerment
      • Elisha’s double portion (2 Kings 2:9)
    2. Eternal Perspective
      • “Hundredfold… everlasting life” (Matthew 19:29)
    3. Divine Guidance
      • “He will guide you aright” (Proverbs 3:6)

    Life Applications

    For the Hesitant:

    • Action: Identify one area you’re withholding from God – release it today
    • Prayer: “Lord, give me Elisha’s courage to burn my plows”

    For the Wealthy:

    • Challenge: Audit your possessions – what controls you?
    • Promise: “Hundredfold return” (Mark 10:29-30)

    For Leaders:

    • Model: Share your surrender story to inspire others
    • Warning: Partial obedience = disobedience (1 Samuel 15:22-23)

    Warning vs. Promise

    • Warning: “Whoever seeks to save his life will lose it” (Luke 17:33)
    • Promise: “All things are possible through Christ” (Philippians 4:13)

    Conclusion: The Surrender Spectrum

    1. Elisha’s oxen → Elijah’s mantle (your surrender unlocks destiny)
    2. Seeds must die → Harvests multiply (pain precedes gain)
    3. Temporal losses → Eternal rewards (Matthew 6:20)

    Prayer Response

“Father, I surrender all: my plans, possessions, and privileges. Give me grace to follow like Elisha, serve like Paul, and die to self like Christ. Let my total obedience release Your hundredfold blessing, in Jesus’ name. Amen.”

    Final Charge
“Will you be remembered like Elisha who burned his plows or the rich ruler who kept his wealth?”
Your greatest gain begins with your complete surrender!

7 And he from within shall answer and say, Trouble me not: the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give thee.
8 I say unto you, Though he will not rise and give him, because he is his friend, yet because of his importunity he will rise and give him as many as he needeth.
9 And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.
10 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 30 MAY 2025 TODAY MESSAGE

In Mark 10:46-52, Bartimaeus cried continually until Jesus attended to him. If Bartimaeus had not been persistent, he may not have gotten his miracle. In Genesis 32:24-28, when the angel said to Jacob, “Let me go,” he replied, “I won’t let you go until you bless me.”

Beloved, hold on to God until you get your miracle. He said in Isaiah 62:6-7 that you should not let Him rest until He establishes you and makes you a praise in the earth.

Many people don’t get their miracles because they give up too soon. However, people who know how to continually knock on heaven’s doors always receive answers. Jesus told the parable of the widow who didn’t stop demanding justice in Luke 18:2-5. She wouldn’t let the judge rest until he attended to her matter. Although he didn’t fear God or regard men, the widow’s persistence pushed him to help her. In today’s Bible reading, Jesus told another parable of a fellow who went to his friend’s house at midnight to ask for bread to entertain a visitor. Jesus said that even though his friend might not want to respond to him because it was late, he would rise and give him as many loaves as he wanted because of his persistence.

Every problem you might experience in your life has an expiry date if you don’t give up on God. If you continually knock, the door will eventually open. People who are fainthearted or give up easily cannot get anything significant from life. Such people let go, even when they are so close to their blessing.

People who don’t let go are people of great determination. Some of them wrestle all night in prayer and continue knocking on heaven’s door until they receive answers. Be determined; don’t give up on your prayers until you receive answers like Daniel (Daniel 10:2-14), Jacob (Genesis 32:24-28), Elijah (1 Kings 18:42-45), and the widow in Jesus’ parable (Luke 18:2-5).

Beloved, you can grow your strength by consuming God’s word and waiting on Him in the place of prayer. Do not let the enemy cheat you by wearing you down at the edge of your breakthrough; hold on firmly to God’s promises. Don’t take ‘no’ for an answer, you will eventually receive your miracle if you persist in your prayers like the woman in Matthew 15:21-28.

Do you want a blessing like Jacob or justice like the widow in Luke 18:2-5? Don’t let go. Keep knocking and pushing until your answer comes.

    KEY POINT

Those who keep knocking and asking will eventually receive their miracles.

    For the Weary Intercessor:

    • Action: Identify one “stuck prayer”—create a 21-day persistence plan
    • Encouragement: The Syrophoenician woman’s “crumb” became a banquet (Mark 7:28-29)

    For the Discouraged:

    • Visual Aid: Make a “Wall of Promises” with Scripture verses
    • Warning: Don’t be like Saul who offered sacrifice prematurely (1 Samuel 13:8-14)

    For Leaders:

    • Teaching Model: Host “Night Watch” prayer sessions
    • Example: Nehemiah prayed while working (Nehemiah 4:9)

    Warning vs. Promise

    • Warning: “The lazy man will not plow… therefore he shall beg” (Proverbs 20:4)
    • Promise: “The effective prayer of a righteous man avails much” (James 5:16)

    Conclusion: From Knocking to Overflow

    1. Every “no” is a test of your “how much”
    2. Breakthroughs come to those who outlast resistance
    3. Your persistence today writes tomorrow’s testimony

    Prayer Response

“Father, make me a spiritual wrestler like Jacob, a relentless seeker like Bartimaeus, and a bold asker like the midnight visitor. Break every spirit of prayer fatigue in me. Let my persistence dismantle every obstacle to my miracle, in Jesus’ name. Amen.”

    Final Charge
“Will your prayer life be remembered for its quitting points or its breakthrough moments?”
The door opens for those who knock until their knuckles bleed!

OPEN HEAVEN 29 MAY 2025 TODAY DEVOTIONAL

    TOPIC: WAITING ON GOD

    MEMORISE

Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.
    Psalm 27:14

    READ: Psalm 37:4-7

4 Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
5 Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.
6 And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.
7 Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 29 MAY 2025 TODAY MESSAGE

In Genesis 18:2-8, after Abraham set a meal before his divine visitors, he stood by them probably sensed that there was something divine and powerful about them, he did not begin to burden them with tales of his problems, such as his childlessness. Instead he attended to their needs and waited on them in case they needed anything else.

This is the kind of fellow that God goes all the way to provide for – someone who can truly wait on Him and is willing to attend to His needs first. God is looking for genuine worshippers who can patiently stay in mis presence and fellowship with Him without being in a hurry to make demands (John 4:23-24). Are you that kind of worshipper?

In life, people wait for different things at different times, such as waiting in a doctor’s office for consultations and waiting in traffic for hours. However, despite the fact that many christians do not mind waiting for nours for these things, they are quick to hurry out of God’s presence after spending just a few minutes

In Psalm 100:4, the bible says thet you must come into God’s presence with thanksgiving and praises. In other words, no matter how pressing your needs are, you must not come to God complaining about them; instead, you should give Him thanks and praise first.

You must realise that the One in whose presence you are is the King of all kings; you are at His mercy and not the other way around. You must find out the things He wants and attend to them first. What does God want? He loves praises (Psalm 22:3) and thanksgiving (Psalm 100:4). Also, He is looking for people who will intercede for others (Ezekiel 22:30), and He wants souls (John 15:16). When You give Him these things, He will bring laughter to your face.

Waiting on the Lord is the secret to getting instant answers and miracles. When you go to a restaurant, a good waiter doesn’t give you his favourite food; rather, he waits on you to know what you want, then, he delivers it courteously as fast as he can.

Beloved, have you tried to find out what God wants? When you go to Him in prayer, are you serving Him His delicacies or just dumping your requests on Him? God seeks waiters who will do what He wants, and when He finds them, He goes all the way to satisfy them.

    KEY POINT

God goes the extra mile for those who wait on Him.

RCCG HYMN 18: PRAISE TO THE LORD THE ALMIGHTY

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 29 MAY 2025 COMMENTARY

    Memorise: Psalm 27:14 (KJV)

This verse captures the essence of today’s message—patient, expectant fellowship with God precedes supernatural intervention.

    Bible Reading: Psalm 37:4-7 (KJV)

David’s psalm reveals the blessings of God-centered waiting: divine desires fulfilled (v.4), guidance (v.5), and vindication (v.6) for those who rest in Him.

Key Insights from Today’s Open Heaven Devotional

    1. Abraham’s Model of Divine Hospitality (Genesis 18:2-8)

    • Four Principles of Waiting on God:
      1. Priority of Presence: Noticed divine visitors before speaking (v.2)
      2. Service Before Petitions: Prepared a meal without mentioning barrenness
      3. Attentive Availability: “Stood by them” (v.8) for further instructions
      4. Patient Expectancy: Received covenant confirmation after serving (v.10)
    • Modern Application:
      • Spend the first 10 minutes of prayer in worship
      • Journal God’s attributes before listing requests

    2. The Heart of True Worship (John 4:23-24)

    • God Seeks:
      1. Thanksgiving over complaints (Psalm 100:4)
      2. Praise as spiritual warfare (Psalm 22:3)
      3. Intercession for others (Ezekiel 22:30)
      4. Soul-winning obedience (John 15:16)
    • Warning Signs of Self-Centered Prayer:
      • Rushing into demands
      • Neglecting Scripture meditation
      • Ignoring others’ needs

    3. The Restaurant Waiter Paradigm

    • Spiritual Parallels:
    Natural WaiterSpiritual Waiter
    Studies the menuKnows God’s Word
    Listens for ordersDisciples through prayer
    Serves promptlyObeys divine promptings
    Anticipates needsIntercedes proactively

    Jesus’ Example:
“I do always those things that please Him” (John 8:29)

    4. The Rewards of Waiting

    1. Divine Strength (Isaiah 40:31)
    2. Strategic Guidance (Psalm 32:8)
    3. Supernatural Provision (Matthew 6:33)
    4. Emotional Peace (Isaiah 26:3)

    5. Practical Steps to Cultivate God-Centered Waiting

    1. Scheduled Stillness
      • 15-minute “listening prayer” daily (Habakkuk 2:1)
    2. Scripture-Based Worship
      • Pray through Psalms 145-150 before requests
    3. Intercessory Firstfruits
      • Lift 5 others’ needs before personal petitions
    4. Obedient Action
      • Like Abraham, serve while waiting (Genesis 18:6-7)

    Life Applications

    For the Hurried Pray-er:

    • Challenge: Try the “10/10/10” prayer model:
      10 minutes praise → 10 minutes intercession → 10 minutes petitions

    For the Discouraged:

    • Encouragement: God records your tears (Psalm 56:8) even when silent
    • Action: Replace complaint lists with thanksgiving journals

    For Leaders:

    • Model: Host “Waiting Rooms”—corporate worship without preaching
    • Warning: Martha’s distraction vs. Mary’s focus (Luke 10:38-42)

    Warning vs. Promise

    • Warning: “They soon forgot His works; they waited not for His counsel” (Psalm 106:13)
    • Promise: “They that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength” (Isaiah 40:31)

    Conclusion: The Divine Exchange

    1. Your worship prepares the throne room for your petitions
    2. Waiting isn’t passive—it’s active spiritual service
    3. God satisfies those who prioritize His pleasure

    Prayer Response

“Father, train me to wait as Abraham did—serving before speaking, worshipping before worrying. Make me a true spiritual waiter who delights Your heart. As I seek first Your kingdom, fulfill every promise in Your timing, in Jesus’ name. Amen.”

    Final Charge
“Will you be remembered as a demander of blessings or a waiter on the King?”
The deepest miracles bloom in the soil of patient worship!

    MEMORISE

Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
    Proverbs 22:6

    READ: Deuteronomy 6:1-7

1 Now these are the commandments, the statutes, and the judgments, which the Lord your God commanded to teach you, that ye might do them in the land whither ye go to possess it:
2 That thou mightest fear the Lord thy God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command thee, thou, and thy son, and thy son’s son, all the days of thy life; and that thy days may be prolonged.
3 Hear therefore, O Israel, and observe to do it; that it may be well with thee, and that ye may increase mightily, as the Lord God of thy fathers hath promised thee, in the land that floweth with milk and honey.
4 Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord:

5 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.
6 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:
7 And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 27 MAY 2025 TODAY MESSAGE

When Pharaoh said, “I won’t let the Israelites go,” he wasn’t talking about limiting them to a geographical location; he was talking about a different kind of bondage (Exodus 5:2). People who are in the kind of bondage that Pharaoh was referring to have no control over anything, not even their children (Exodus 1:1-22).

If a country’s government says that parents cannot raise their children in the way of the Lord, they should know that there is an evil agenda behind it. That is bondage, and they must not allow themselves to remain under it.

Parents shouldn’t depend on any government to teach their children. Rather, they should take charge and teach them God’s values from His word. If a government insists that parents cannot teach their children what is right, they should move out of that place and go where they will not be under bondage.

Parents should check what their children are being taught in school and ensure they are not influenced to adopt a mindset that is against God’s will. They should also check the games they play and the cartoons they watch because, through them, something evil can be positioned to influence their mindsets.

If you take charge of the children and youths around you, it will be difficult for them to be influenced by an evil agenda. If you are a parent, you must intentionally create time to teach your children God’s ways so that they will know Him for themselves as they grow. Let them spend more time with fellow believers, doing things that will make them grow up into godly adults.

When I moved to Redemption City with my family, my children were schooling far away, and they had to leave the house before 6am on school days so they wouldn’t be late for school.

In order to have a relationship with them, we often ate our dinner in the car together as we drove back home from their school.

As they grew older, I began to take them on evangelistic outreaches. Even when they were in the university, whenever I visited them, l ensured we spent quality time together. We would take walks and discuss the Scriptures: then, l’d guide them with God’s principles.

Parents, take charge of your children; don’t let the enemy win them over. God will hold you accountable for the children He has given you as He did with Eli (1 Samuel 2:27-31). Rise up to the responsibility of nurturing and training them in His ways.

    KEY POINT

Don’t expose your children to the enemy by submitting to societal pressures.

    RCCG HYMN 5: BLESSED ASSURANCE

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 27 MAY 2025 COMMENTARY

    Memorise: Proverbs 22:6 (KJV)

This foundational Scripture establishes parental responsibility as primary spiritual educators, with eternal consequences.

    Bible Reading: Deuteronomy 6:1-7 (KJV)

Moses’ instruction to Israel reveals God’s blueprint for generational discipleship—teaching children diligently in all life contexts (“when you sit, walk, lie down, rise”).

Key Insights from Today’s Open Heaven Devotional

    1. The Pharaoh Principle: Recognizing Spiritual Bondage

    • Modern Parallels to Exodus 5:2:
      1. Educational Systems: Mandates against biblical values
      2. Media Influence: Anti-Christian ideologies in children’s content
      3. Legal Restrictions: Parental rights erosion in some nations
    • Threefold Response Commanded:
      1. Vigilance: “Check what children are taught” (1 Thessalonians 5:21)
      2. Action: “Move if necessary” (Matthew 10:23)
      3. Instruction: “Teach diligently” (Deuteronomy 6:7)

    2. The Eli Warning: Consequences of Parental Neglect

    • Case Study (1 Samuel 2:27-31):
      • Failure: Eli honored sons above God (v.29)
      • Judgment: Priesthood removed from lineage (v.31)
    • Contemporary Applications:
      • Permissiveness = Spiritual endangerment
      • Delegating discipleship to institutions = Dereliction of duty

    3. Biblical Models of Intentional Parenting

    4. Practical Discipleship Strategies

    1. Time Investment
      • Car Dinners: Utilizing commute for connection
      • University Visits: Intentional spiritual mentoring
    2. Content Control
      • Monitoring:
        • School curricula
        • Entertainment choices
        • Peer influences
    3. Experiential Learning
      • Family evangelism (like Pastor Adeboye’s outreaches)
      • Service projects (James 1:27)
    4. Scriptural Dialogue
      • “When you walk by the way” discussions (Deuteronomy 6:7)
      • Answering questions with biblical truth (1 Peter 3:15)

    5. The Urgency of Now

    • Statistical Reality:
      • 70% of church-raised youth leave faith by college
      • Only 4% of Gen Z hold biblical worldview
    • Spiritual Warfare Tactics:
      1. Early Indoctrination: LGBTQ+ agendas in elementary schools
      2. Digital Addiction: 8+ hours daily screen time for teens
      3. Parental Passivity: Delegating to Sunday schools alone

    Life Applications

    For Parents:

    • Action Plan:
      1. Conduct a “media fast” to audit child’s consumption
      2. Institute weekly family Bible studies
      3. Find mentorship opportunities like family mission trips

    For Grandparents/Relatives:

    • Role: Supplemental discipleship (2 Timothy 1:5)
    • Method: Storytelling faith legacy (Psalm 78:4)

    For Childless Believers:

    • Ministry: Support struggling parents through:
      • After-school Bible clubs
      • Foster care initiatives

    Warning vs. Promise

    • Warning: “Unrestrained children bring shame” (Proverbs 29:15)
    • Promise: “Godly training yields eternal fruit” (Proverbs 22:6)

Conclusion: A Call to Arms for Christian Parents

    1. The battle for the next generation is won or lost at home
    2. Cultural captivity begins with parental abdication
    3. Your children’s eternal destiny outweighs career success

    Prayer Response

“Father, awaken me to my sacred parenting mandate. Give me courage to resist cultural bondage, wisdom to teach diligently, and creativity to redeem time with my children. Let my home become a discipleship center for Christ, in Jesus’ name. Amen.”

    Final Charge
“Will your parenting be remembered like Hannah’s faithfulness or Eli’s failure?”

    TOPIC: THE POWER OF DILIGENCE

    MEMORISE:

He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.
    Proverbs 10:4

    READ: Matthew 25:14-30

14 For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.
15 And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey.
16 Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents.
17 And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two.

18 But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord’s money.
19 After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them.
20 And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.
21 His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

22 He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them.
23 His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
24 Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed:
25 And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine.

26 His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed:
27 Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury.
28 Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.
29 For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.
30 And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 26 MAY 2025 TODAY MESSAGE

Proverbs 22:29 says, “Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.” Diligence means doing the right things to achieve a goal in an excellent, timely, and consistent manner. In Mark 10:46-52, Bartimaeus didn’t only cry once; he kept crying until Jesus answered him. Likewise, the woman with the issue of blood kept pressing forward until she finally got to Jesus (Luke 8:43-48).

If you want to succeed at anything in life, you must be diligent and keep persevering despite obstacles.

I once gave a project to someone at the beginning of a year, and I intended to give him another one as soon as he was done. He was meant to complete the first project within three months; however, by September, he was still struggling to complete it, and there was no way I would have given him another one. God had opened a door of financial blessings to him, but he refused to be diligent.

In today’s Bible reading, Jesus told the parable of three servants who received talents from their master. Two of the servants were diligent, and they doubled what they received. When the master returned, he commended the two diligent servants and rewarded them handsomely. He said to them, “Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.”

In the same parable, you also see the direct consequences of laziness. The servant with one talent hid it and refused to trade with it. The consequence of not being diligent was not only the loss of his talent but also sorrow for the rest of his life. While the diligent servant who started with five ended up with eleven, the lazy servant ended up with sorrow. Jesus said, “For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath” (Matthew 13:12). Anyone who has the virtue of diligence will have more, but those who lack this virtue will lose even what they have.

Beloved, diligence is powerful; it will position you for greatness and more abundance.

Whatever you do according to God’s will, do it diligently with all your strength. Don’t delay, and don’t quit because of limitations or obstacles. I pray that God will reward your diligence

    ACTION POINT

Be diligent in all that you do.
