Wisdom and knowledge are very important in the life of every human being. They are so important that Proverbs 4:7 says: Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.
Wisdom is the correct application of knowledge. If you have everything in this world and also have vast knowledge about many things but fail to apply the knowledge correctly, you are still in lack.
Hosea 4:6 says: My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.
The Scripture above tells us that God’s people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; that is how important wisdom and knowledge are.
The question now is, how can you get wisdom and knowledge? To answer this question, we should first and foremost identify the source of wisdom and knowledge. Daniel 2:20 tells us that wisdom and might belong to God. James 1:5 also tells us that God is the One who gives wisdom, while Colossians 2:3 says wisdom and knowledge are hidden in Him. God is clearly the only source of wisdom; He is the only wise God (1 Timothy 1:17).
During my postgraduate studies at the University of Lagos, my research supervisor travelled out of the country for a while. Before he travelled, he gave me a very difficult assignment. By the time he came back and saw how much progress I had made within the short period he was away, he looked at me and said, “Enoch, I know you’re a Christian, and you won’t lie to me. What I am seeing could not have been done by you alone, so tell me, who helped you?” Even though my supervisor knew that Christians do not lie, he was Hindu and didn’t believe in Jesus Christ. Hence, if I had told him that Jesus Christ helped me, he wasn’t going to take me seriously. So, I said to him, “Professor Emmanuel helped me.” However, I got into trouble when he asked, “Professor Emmanuel? Of which department?”
The best professors in the world are only experts in a few disciplines because man is limited in wisdom and knowledge. However, God knows all academic subjects and everything else in the world. When you partner with Him, He will grant you access to unusual depths of wisdom and knowledge that will help you live an excellent life.

When you connect and partner with God, you will have access to unusual wisdom and knowledge

The Supreme Value of Divine Wisdom
This devotional presents wisdom as the foundational requirement for successful living. Unlike worldly knowledge that merely accumulates facts, true wisdom represents the divine ability to rightly apply knowledge according to God’s perfect will. The text establishes that:

Prayer for Divine Wisdom
“Heavenly Father, fountain of all wisdom, I acknowledge my need for Your understanding today. Grant me wisdom that excels human learning. Open my heart to receive knowledge from Your Word. Let Your Spirit guide me into all truth. May my life demonstrate the excellence of Your wisdom, bringing glory to Your name. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
Say ye not, A confederacy, to all them to whom this people shall say, A confederacy; neither fear ye their fear, nor be afraid. Sanctify the LORD of hosts himself; and let him be your fear, and let him be your dread. Isaiah 8:12-13
READ: Psalms 112:1-10
1 Praise ye the Lord. Blessed is the man that feareth the Lord, that delighteth greatly in his commandments. 2 His seed shall be mighty upon earth: the generation of the upright shall be blessed. 3 Wealth and riches shall be in his house: and his righteousness endureth for ever. 4 Unto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness: he is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous. 5 A good man sheweth favour, and lendeth: he will guide his affairs with discretion.
6 Surely he shall not be moved for ever: the righteous shall be in everlasting remembrance. 7 He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the Lord. 8 His heart is established, he shall not be afraid, until he see his desire upon his enemies. 9 He hath dispersed, he hath given to the poor; his righteousness endureth for ever; his horn shall be exalted with honour. 10 The wicked shall see it, and be grieved; he shall gnash with his teeth, and melt away: the desire of the wicked shall perish.

Some people are afraid of witches, wizards, and other forces of darkness. Some other people are afraid of their bosses, some are afraid of failure, and some are even afraid of success. There are even some people who are afraid of their own shadows! I know that many people, situations, or even objects can indeed seem fearsome; however, you must understand that 2 Timothy 1:7 says: For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
God is the only being in the entire universe that is worth fearing. Jesus said in Matthew 10:28: And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
When you are afraid of people, situations, or anything at that, you are not walking in the fullness of the freedom Jesus paid for you to have. If you are still afraid of some things, it means that you have not yet understood that Jesus has made you free indeed (John 8:36). It doesn’t matter how wealthy, intelligent, famous, or influential you are; if you are afraid, you are living in constant torment and are in bondage (1 John 4:18).
When Jesus sets anyone free, He gives the fellow all things that pertain to life and godliness; everything the fellow needs to establish his or her freedom (2 Peter 1:3). Jesus came to deliver us from the fear of death (Hebrews 2:14-15). The moment a fellow comes to Jesus Christ, he or she does not have to be afraid of death anymore.
The Bible says in Psalm 112:1: “Praise ye the LORD. Blessed is the man that feareth the LORD, that delighteth greatly in his commandments.”
This Scripture clearly states that the people who fear God are blessedindeed. A fellow who fears God indeed will delight greatly in His commandments. You can’t claim to fear God and despise, disrespect, or disobey His instructions. When you fear God, you love His laws and obey them.
Beloved, there is no need to be afraid of anyone or anything; God is the only one you should fear. Trust in Him, and He will deliver you from all forms of fear. Put all your focus on God, delight in His word, obey His commandments, and He will keep you in perfect peace all the days of your life (Isaiah 26:3).

READ: Acts 12:1-11
1 Now about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church. 2 And he killed James the brother of John with the sword. 3 And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also. (Then were the days of unleavened bread.) 4 And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people. 5 Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.
6 And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison. 7 And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands. 8 And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me. 9 And he went out, and followed him; and wist not that it was true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a vision. 10 When they were past the first and the second ward, they came unto the iron gate that leadeth unto the city; which opened to them of his own accord: and they went out, and passed on through one street; and forthwith the angel departed from him. 11 And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the Lord hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.
RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 24 JUNE 2025 TODAY MESSAGE
The Bible says clearly in today’s memory verse that if you do the right things, you should not be afraid of the government or their agencies.
For instance, when a driver becomes afraid on seeing a traffic official, it is most likely that he or she has done something critical or committed a traffic offence. If you fidget when you learn that tax officials are coming to meet you, it probably means that you have been robbing the government, and Jesus said in Matthew 22:21 that you should give to Ceasar (the government) what belongs to Ceasar.
Rather than being afraid, why not just do the right thing? Stay in the right and do good so that you will never be afraid of government officials.
In certain regions, some people are afraid of government officials, not because they are guilty of any wrongdoing, but because of racism or oppression. If a government official decides to use his or her authority to terrorise you, don’t be afraid of such a person. Rather, take the matter to God, and He will fight for you. You must, however, have built a culture of depending on God before trouble comes.
Many years ago, I heard that the military government that was ruling my country at the time was planning to arrest me because the head of the government was told by his spiritualists that my prayers were hindering their selfcentred agenda for the country.
At first, I was afraid, but that night, I handed the matter over to God, and in less than one week, the government official who wanted to kill me was dead. If you fear God and always do the right things, He will fight for you.
In Daniel 3:16, the three Hebrew boys defied the evil order of the king, and God protected them from his wrath. God protected them because they chose to fear Him and not man.
When Herod began to terrorise the church, killing James and imprisoning Peter, the Christians began to pray without ceasing.
Their prayers worked great wonders; Peter was freed miraculously on the eve of the day he was to be executed, and Herod was later eaten by worms (Acts 12:1-23).
Beloved, please stay away from anything that will put you in a position of being afraid of the government. However, if you have not done anything wrong and a government official decides to terrorise you for whatever reason, simply hand him or her over to God, and He will surely protect you.
KEY POINT:
As long as you fear God and keep doing the right things, you don’t have to fear any other person, organisation, or government.

On the same day I graduated from the University of Ife in 1967, the then Ooni of Ife, the traditional ruler of the city, was given an honorary doctorate degree. It was a very glorious occasion, and that day, I told my closest friend, “One day, I too will get an honorary doctorate degree from this university.” He looked at me, laughed, and said, “If it’s possible to earn it by studying, I would agree with you because you’re intelligent, but you’re not qualified to be honoured. Honorary doctorate degrees are not given to every Tom, Dick, and Harry.”
What he said appeared to be true at the time because I didn’t look like someone who could be given an honorary doctorate degree. My friend and I were so ordinary that we celebrated our graduation by eating amala and ponmo, a meal made from yam flour and dry cowhide, at a motorpark. Years passed, and one day, I got a letter from the university that the council had decided to award me an honorary doctorate degree.
There is no height you cannot reach if you remain close to God and work hard towards your goals. In Genesis 37:5-10, Joseph dreamt of himself as a great ruler. At that time, even his father didn’t consider him mature enough to work with his brothers to shepherd the family’s flock (Genesis 37:12-13).
Later on in life, he found himself as a slave, and he worked hard in that role while ensuring that he did not offend God (Genesis 39:9). Before long, he went from being a prisoner to becoming the Prime Minister of a country considered the world superpower at the time.
In 1 Samuel, when Samuel went to anoint a king among the sons of Jesse, David was not even presented among his brothers initially.
However, by 2 Samuel, he was already sitting on the throne as Israel’s king. Even when his life was threatened by Saul, he did not give up or lose his focus. Some people turn every little challenge into an excuse for not being able to achieve their goals. Excuses are for failures; highflyers will use their challenges as fuel to reach their goals.
Beloved, people who fulfil their purposes and dreams are single-minded in their pursuits.
They refuse to be distracted by anything until they achieve the things they have conceived in their minds. Focus on your goals, work hard, and don’t give up. Trust in God, and He will help you to achieve your dreams
PRAYER POINT:
Father, please help me to remain focused and connected to You as I work towards achieving the dreams You have put in my heart, in Jesus’ name.

10 Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another; 11 Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord; 12 Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer; 13 Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality. 14 Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not. 15 Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep.
16 Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits. 17 Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. 18 If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men. 19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. 20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. 21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

Daniel had an excellent spirit upon him. The Spirit of God made him so excellent that the king wanted to put him in charge of the affairs of the entire kingdom (Daniel 6:1-3). Nobody in the whole kingdom could be compared to Daniel. He left the mark of God’s presence and wisdom everywhere he went.
While it is good to register for courses and get certifications, what makes you excel is the Holy Spirit. When the Spirit of the Lord comes upon you and overshadows you, you will become sought after by many. Instead of turning you down, many people and organisations will seek to be associated with you, and you will have to choose between them.
When we built the first RCCG auditorium near the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, it was considered the biggest auditorium in Africa at that time. Some of my children came to tell me that we didn’t need to worry anymore about space, and I laughed. Two years later, we had to expand it. A year later, we had to double the size of the auditorium, and in the year after that, we had to expand it further. We keep expanding because I can’t settle for less than what God has in store for us.
A fellow with an excellent spirit never settles for mediocrity, and I know what God has shown me. People who have an excellent spirit always want more of God. They are not satisfied with yesterday’s fellowship because God’s mercies are new every morning (Lamentations 3:22-23).
Daniel’s excellence didn’t only show in his work and responsibilities; it also showed in his relationship with God. When the king decreed that nobody should pray to any other being apart from him, Daniel was too intimate and dedicated to God to obey that command.
Some other fellows might have said, “The command is only for thirty days; after that, I can resume my prayers,” but not Daniel. He didn’t want less of God, and this fervent pursuit made him excellent in all aspects of life.
Beloved, you can’t claim to be excellent in your work or studies if you are slothful in your service to God and your relationship with Him.
I pray that the spirit of excellence will distinguish you in every area of life, in Jesus’ name

Understanding the Excellent Spirit
The Nature of Divine Excellence
The devotional reveals that true excellence originates from God’s Spirit, not human achievement. Daniel’s example shows us that:
His excellence was recognizable (v.3 – “was preferred”)
It was comparative (“none like him”)
It was comprehensive (affected all areas of life)
This excellence wasn’t mere talent or education but the manifest presence of God upon a submitted life.
Biblical Examples of Excellence
Joseph – Excellence in prison administration (Genesis 39:22-23)
Bezalel – Divine skill in craftsmanship (Exodus 31:3)
Paul – Excellence in ministry (1 Corinthians 15:10)

20 Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his: 21 And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding: 22 He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him. 23 I thank thee, and praise thee, O thou God of my fathers, who hast given me wisdom and might, and hast made known unto me now what we desired of thee: for thou hast now made known unto us the king’s matter.
RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 21 JUNE 2025 TODAY MESSAGE
In my travels around the world to preach the gospel, I have discovered that not all presidents are the same. I once visited a small country where the total number of policemen in the country was twenty. That nation is recognised by the United Nations, so when nations gather at the United Nations General Assembly, the president also shows up. However, you cannot compare that president to the president of a country that has over 40,000 policemen.
In the same way, you cannot compare Jesus to any earthly leader. He is the President of presidents (Revelations 19:16).
Daniel 4:32 says that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men. If you want doors to open to you, you should befriend President Jesus. He has a name that is above every other name, and all things in heaven, on earth, and underneath the earth should bow when His name is mentioned (Philippians 2:9-11). No matter how powerful a president is, if he or she pronounces a curfew, it will only be effective within his or her territory. However, Jesus has influence all over the world, in heaven, and even underneath the earth. You should aim to be so intimate with Him that everywhere you appear, doors will open unto you as though President Jesus Himself is the One who has appeared.
You can become intimate with God by loving His laws. David, the man after God’s heart, said, “O how love I thy law! it is my meditation all the day” (Psalm 119:97). When you love someone, you will always want to spend time with that person. God’s laws are His principles, and they can be found in His word. As you meditate on them and allow them to fill your heart, you will become more intimate with His person, abilities, and power.
David also said that those who love God’s law have great peace, and nothing shall offend them (Psalm 119:165). If nothing offends you, it means that nothing shakes or moves you.
President Jesus is the Prince of peace, and those who are intimate with Him will always enjoy peace no matter the situations surrounding them. No matter how terrible the economy of a nation gets, those in a president’s household are confident that they will always have something to eat. If this is true for earthly presidents, how much more with President Jesus, who presides over an unshakable kingdom and economy (Hebrews 12:28)?
REFLECTION:
Are you intimate with the President of all presidents?

The Unparalleled Leadership of Christ
This devotional presents a powerful analogy comparing earthly presidents to the supreme presidency of Jesus Christ. Through vivid illustrations and scriptural insights, we’re reminded that Christ’s authority transcends all human power structures, offering believers unprecedented access to divine favor and provision when we cultivate true intimacy with Him.
1. The Limitations of Earthly Presidents
A. Contrast in Presidential Power
Example of the Small Nation:
Only 20 policemen nationwide
Limited influence despite UN recognition
Restricted jurisdiction
Example of Large Nations:
Over 40,000 policemen
Greater global influence
But still territorially constrained
B. The Supreme Presidency of Jesus
Universal Jurisdiction:
“King of kings and Lord of lords” (Revelation 19:16)
Authority over heaven, earth, and under the earth (Philippians 2:10)
Unlimited Resources:
Owns “the cattle on a thousand hills” (Psalm 50:10)
Commands angelic armies (Matthew 26:53)
Eternal Term:
“His dominion is an everlasting dominion” (Daniel 4:34)
Unlike earthly leaders with term limits
2. The Privilege of Divine Connection
A. Benefits of Christ’s Presidency
Open Doors Policy:
“I have set before thee an open door” (Revelation 3:8)
“Neither said any of them that ought was his own” (Acts 4:32)
No lack among them
Prayer for Presidential Intimacy
“Lord Jesus, Supreme President of heaven and earth, I seek deeper intimacy with You today. Forgive me for prioritizing earthly connections over divine fellowship. Saturate me with love for Your Word until my life radiates Your glory. Grant me favor as Your ambassador and peace as Your child. May my life demonstrate the reality of Your eternal presidency, in Your mighty name. Amen.”
Conclusion: Living as Kingdom Royalty
Daily Reminder:
You’re connected to ultimate power
No situation is beyond Christ’s jurisdiction
Confident Assurance:
Your Provider owns everything
Your Protector commands all forces
Eternal Perspective:
Earthly leaders come and go
Christ’s presidency endures forever
Final Charge: Walk today conscious that you’re an accredited representative of heaven’s White House, with full diplomatic privileges and unrestricted access to divine resources.

READ: Daniel 4:1-37
1 Nebuchadnezzar the king, unto all people, nations, and languages, that dwell in all the earth; Peace be multiplied unto you. 2 I thought it good to shew the signs and wonders that the high God hath wrought toward me. 3 How great are his signs! and how mighty are his wonders! his kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and his dominion is from generation to generation. 4 I Nebuchadnezzar was at rest in mine house, and flourishing in my palace: 5 I saw a dream which made me afraid, and the thoughts upon my bed and the visions of my head troubled me.
6 Therefore made I a decree to bring in all the wise men of Babylon before me, that they might make known unto me the interpretation of the dream. 7 Then came in the magicians, the astrologers, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers: and I told the dream before them; but they did not make known unto me the interpretation thereof. 8 But at the last Daniel came in before me, whose name was Belteshazzar, according to the name of my God, and in whom is the spirit of the holy gods: and before him I told the dream, saying, 9 O Belteshazzar, master of the magicians, because I know that the spirit of the holy gods is in thee, and no secret troubleth thee, tell me the visions of my dream that I have seen, and the interpretation thereof. 10 Thus were the visions of mine head in my bed; I saw, and behold a tree in the midst of the earth, and the height thereof was great.
11 The tree grew, and was strong, and the height thereof reached unto heaven, and the sight thereof to the end of all the earth: 12 The leaves thereof were fair, and the fruit thereof much, and in it was meat for all: the beasts of the field had shadow under it, and the fowls of the heaven dwelt in the boughs thereof, and all flesh was fed of it. 13 I saw in the visions of my head upon my bed, and, behold, a watcher and an holy one came down from heaven; 14 He cried aloud, and said thus, Hew down the tree, and cut off his branches, shake off his leaves, and scatter his fruit: let the beasts get away from under it, and the fowls from his branches: 15 Nevertheless leave the stump of his roots in the earth, even with a band of iron and brass, in the tender grass of the field; and let it be wet with the dew of heaven, and let his portion be with the beasts in the grass of the earth:
16 Let his heart be changed from man’s, and let a beast’s heart be given unto him; and let seven times pass over him. 17 This matter is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones: to the intent that the living may know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of men. 18 This dream I king Nebuchadnezzar have seen. Now thou, O Belteshazzar, declare the interpretation thereof, forasmuch as all the wise men of my kingdom are not able to make known unto me the interpretation: but thou art able; for the spirit of the holy gods is in thee. 19 Then Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, was astonied for one hour, and his thoughts troubled him. The king spake, and said, Belteshazzar, let not the dream, or the interpretation thereof, trouble thee. Belteshazzar answered and said, My lord, the dream be to them that hate thee, and the interpretation thereof to thine enemies. 20 The tree that thou sawest, which grew, and was strong, whose height reached unto the heaven, and the sight thereof to all the earth;
21 Whose leaves were fair, and the fruit thereof much, and in it was meat for all; under which the beasts of the field dwelt, and upon whose branches the fowls of the heaven had their habitation: 22 It is thou, O king, that art grown and become strong: for thy greatness is grown, and reacheth unto heaven, and thy dominion to the end of the earth. 23 And whereas the king saw a watcher and an holy one coming down from heaven, and saying, Hew the tree down, and destroy it; yet leave the stump of the roots thereof in the earth, even with a band of iron and brass, in the tender grass of the field; and let it be wet with the dew of heaven, and let his portion be with the beasts of the field, till seven times pass over him; 24 This is the interpretation, O king, and this is the decree of the most High, which is come upon my lord the king: 25 That they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field, and they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and they shall wet thee with the dew of heaven, and seven times shall pass over thee, till thou know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will.
26 And whereas they commanded to leave the stump of the tree roots; thy kingdom shall be sure unto thee, after that thou shalt have known that the heavens do rule. 27 Wherefore, O king, let my counsel be acceptable unto thee, and break off thy sins by righteousness, and thine iniquities by shewing mercy to the poor; if it may be a lengthening of thy tranquillity. 28 All this came upon the king Nebuchadnezzar. 29 At the end of twelve months he walked in the palace of the kingdom of Babylon. 30 The king spake, and said, Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honour of my majesty?
31 While the word was in the king’s mouth, there fell a voice from heaven, saying, O king Nebuchadnezzar, to thee it is spoken; The kingdom is departed from thee. 32 And they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field: they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and seven times shall pass over thee, until thou know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will. 33 The same hour was the thing fulfilled upon Nebuchadnezzar: and he was driven from men, and did eat grass as oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven, till his hairs were grown like eagles’ feathers, and his nails like birds’ claws. 34 And at the end of the days I Nebuchadnezzar lifted up mine eyes unto heaven, and mine understanding returned unto me, and I blessed the most High, and I praised and honoured him that liveth for ever, whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom is from generation to generation: 35 And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou?
36 At the same time my reason returned unto me; and for the glory of my kingdom, mine honour and brightness returned unto me; and my counsellors and my lords sought unto me; and I was established in my kingdom, and excellent majesty was added unto me. 37 Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honour the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in pride he is able to abase.
RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 20 JUNE 2025 TODAY MESSAGE
Years ago, when my Father in the Lord was alive, he sent a pastor to start a parish in Osogbo (a town in Western Nigeria). The parish began to prosper, and the pastor felt that since he planted it, he could turn it into his own ministry. He removed the signboard of The Redeemed Christian Church of God and put that of his new ministry.
When Papa heard about it, he appealed to the pastor to retrace his steps, but he refused. He said, “What do you mean? I am the pastor here. I started the work. The people are my sheep.” Papa said,
“But we ordained you, and sent you here to start the work in the name of The Redeemed Christian Church of God. More so, you are not their saviour. The church belongs to the One who saved them. It is not yours or mine.”
However, the pastor stubbornly insisted. Then, Papa said, “No problem, shall we pray?” As they prayed, a wind blew as if it was going to rain, and by the following morning, the pastor was covered in leprosy from head to toe.
When the King of kings owns something, don’t take it as yours. When you do, you are toying with fire. The pastor in the story I shared above thought he could take what belonged to God and go scot-free.
When someone has exclusive rights to something, no other person can claim ownership of that thing. God has exclusive rights to the earth, its fullness and all its inhabitants (Psalm 24:1). This means that He is in charge of the earth and oversees all that happens in it.
In Luke 12:16-20, when the man that Jesus called the rich fool talked about his soul as if he owned it, he lost his life that same night.
Just as God doesn’t share His ownership of the earth, He doesn’t share His glory. His glory belongs to Him, and anyone who tries to steal it from Him will get into big trouble.
When God does anything through you, be quick to return all the glory to Him because it does not belong to you. In today’s Bible reading,
Nebuchadnezzar attempted to attribute God’s glory to himself, and he became a beast in the forest for seven years. God touched his heart and replaced it with a beast’s heart, and all his boasting stopped.
Beloved, God is jealous about what belongs to Him.

The Sacredness of Divine Ownership
This devotional presents a sobering truth about divine ownership and the consequences of appropriating God’s glory. Through a powerful testimony and biblical examples, we’re reminded that all ministry success, spiritual gifts, and earthly blessings ultimately belong to God. The message warns against the subtle temptation to claim as personal achievement what God has accomplished through us.
1. The Testimony of Stolen Ministry
A. The Osogbo Pastor’s Mistake
The Scenario:
Pastor sent to plant a church in Osogbo
Church prospered under his leadership
Made the fatal error of claiming ownership
The Transgression:
Removed RCCG signboard
Declared: “I am the pastor here… The people are my sheep”
Rejected correction from spiritual authority
The Consequences:
Immediate divine judgment (leprosy overnight)
Served as a warning to all ministers
B. Key Lessons from the Incident
Ministry Belongs to Christ
“I will build my church” (Matthew 16:18)
We are merely stewards (1 Corinthians 4:1-2)
Authority Structures Matter
Rejecting spiritual covering invites danger
Hebrews 13:17 principle of submission
God Jealously Guards His Glory
The leprosy judgment mirrored:
Miriam’s punishment (Numbers 12:10)
Uzziah’s affliction (2 Chronicles 26:19)
2. Biblical Examples of Misappropriated Glory
A. Nebuchadnezzar’s Fall (Daniel 4)
The Boast:
“Is not this great Babylon, that I have built… by the might of my power?” (v.30)
The Judgment:
Lost his mind for 7 years
Lived like a beast
Hair like eagles’ feathers, nails like birds’ claws
The Restoration:
Came only after acknowledging God’s sovereignty (v.34-37)
B. Herod’s Fatal Acceptance of Worship (Acts 12:21-23)
Failed to give God glory
Struck by an angel and eaten by worms
C. The Rich Fool (Luke 12:16-20)
Claimed ownership of his soul
Lost his life that very night
3. The Theology of Divine Ownership
A. What Belongs Exclusively to God?
All Creation (Psalm 24:1)
“The earth is the LORD’s, and the fulness thereof”
Human Lives (Ezekiel 18:4)
“All souls are mine”
Ministry Success (1 Corinthians 3:6-7)
“Neither is he that planteth anything… but God that giveth the increase”
Spiritual Gifts (James 1:17)
“Every good gift… cometh down from the Father”
B. Why God Guards His Glory So Jealously
For Our Protection
Pride precedes destruction (Proverbs 16:18)
For Authentic Worship
He alone is worthy (Revelation 4:11)
For Kingdom Integrity
Prevents personality cults in ministry
4. Practical Ways to Guard Against Glory Theft
A. In Ministry
Always Point to Christ
John the Baptist’s model: “He must increase…” (John 3:30)
Maintain Accountability Structures
Reject lone ranger mentality
Regularly Examine Motives
“Search me, O God…” (Psalm 139:23-24)
B. In Daily Life
Receive Compliments with Humility
“To God be the glory” response
Journal God’s Interventions
Creates a record of divine faithfulness
Practice Secret Giving
Matthew 6:1-4 principle
C. When Tempted to Boast
Remember Your Former State
“Such were some of you…” (1 Corinthians 6:11)
Acknowledge God’s Grace
“By the grace of God I am what I am” (1 Corinthians 15:10)
Recall Judgment Examples
Nebuchadnezzar, Herod, etc.
Prayer for Right Perspective
“Merciful Father, deliver me from the subtle pride that claims Your works as mine. Keep me ever mindful that I am but an unworthy servant (Luke 17:10). Where I’ve taken credit for Your deeds, forgive me. Where I’ve sought glory for myself, cleanse me. Let my life always point others to You, in Jesus’ name. Amen.”
Conclusion: The Blessedness of Giving God His Due
Safety in Humility
God resists the proud but gives grace to humble (James 4:6)
Joy in Right Worship
True fulfillment comes in glorifying God
Eternal Rewards
Those who humble themselves will be exalted (Matthew 23:12)
Final Warning: That ministry, business, talent, or achievement you’re tempted to claim? It’s borrowed capital. Handle with reverence – it’s stamped “Property of the King of kings.”
And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpillar, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you. Joel 2:25
READ: Matthew 12:9-13
9 And when he was departed thence, he went into their synagogue: 10 And, behold, there was a man which had his hand withered. And they asked him, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath days? that they might accuse him. 11 And he said unto them, What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out? 12 How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days. 13 Then saith he to the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it forth; and it was restored whole, like as the other.

While I was a lecturer at one of the universities in Nigeria, there was a man who was not promoted for 12 years because somebody hid his file. When God was going to restore all this man had lost, the head of his department was changed, and his replacement asked to see the files of all staff in the department. They searched for this man’s file until they dug it out from where it had been hidden. When his file was opened, they discovered that he should have been promoted at least twice, so they gave him a double promotion.
God can restore all the years you seem to have lost. He can reverse the irreversible and bring back the opportunities you missed in the past.
In today’s Bible reading, Jesus entered the temple and found a man with a withered hand. Before Jesus left the temple that day, He ensured that the man’s withered hand received life and was divinely restored. In the name that is above every other name, if there is anything that is withered in your life, it will receive an instant restoration today.
Some Christians’ walk with God can also be described as withered. For example, when a Christian who used to spend hours in God’s presence can hardly spend up to thirty minutes with Him in prayer, such a Christian’s walk with God is withered.
Some Christians could heal the sick and cast out demons in Jesus’ name in the past, but now, they have become victims of sicknesses and demonic oppression. If you are reading this devotional and your walk with God has withered, I pray that you will experience a divine restoration today, in Jesus’ name. The Lord will breathe afresh into you and cause you to experience a greater realm of glory than the former days (Haggai 2:9).
Job said that no matter how badly a tree has been cut, as long as its stump is in the ground and it can perceive the scent of water, there is hope for it (Job 14:7-9).
Beloved, since you are still alive to read this today, it means that there is hope for you concerning any withered situation that might exist in your life. All you have to do is submit completely to the Great Restorer and seek His face for help. He will step into your situation and restore all that you might have lost, in Jesus’ name.

God’s Restoration Power in Action
This devotional presents a powerful message of hope – no condition is beyond God’s restorative power. Through biblical accounts and real-life testimony, we discover that God specializes in reversing the irreversible and resurrecting what man has written off. Whether it’s lost years, missed opportunities, or spiritual dryness, Jehovah Rapha (the Lord our Healer) is ready to breathe new life into every withered area of our lives.
1. Biblical Examples of Divine Restoration
A. The Withered Hand Made Whole (Matthew 12:9-13)
Condition: Chronic disability (likely years of limitation)
Divine Intervention: Jesus’ command to “Stretch forth thine hand”
Result: Immediate and complete restoration
Lesson: What medicine couldn’t heal, one word from Jesus restored
Divine Turnaround: New leadership uncovered injustice
Result: Double promotion
Principle: God knows where your “file” is hidden (Psalm 139:16)
2. Areas Needing Restoration
A. Physical Restoration
Withered health (like the man’s hand)
Chronic conditions
Medical impossibilities
B. Temporal Restoration
Lost years (Joel 2:25)
Missed opportunities
Wasted time
C. Spiritual Restoration
Withered prayer life
Diminished spiritual power
Lost first love (Revelation 2:4)
D. Material Restoration
Financial losses
Business failures
Stolen blessings
3. The Process of Divine Restoration
A. Recognize the Withered Condition
Honest Assessment:
Like David asking “Why art thou cast down?” (Psalm 42:5)
Avoid Denial:
The man with the withered hand didn’t hide his condition
B. Position Yourself for Restoration
Be in God’s Presence:
The man was in the synagogue (Matthew 12:9)
Respond to Divine Instruction:
“Stretch forth thine hand” required faith in action
C. Receive by Faith
Job’s Confession:
“I know that my redeemer liveth” (Job 19:25)
The Psalmist’s Hope:
“He restoreth my soul” (Psalm 23:3)
4. The Promise of Complete Restoration
A. Scriptural Guarantees
Joel 2:25:
Full restoration of lost years
1 Peter 5:10:
“After you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, settle you”
Zechariah 9:12:
“Return to the stronghold, you prisoners of hope”
B. The Tree Principle (Job 14:7-9)
Stump Represents:
Your remaining faith
God’s preserving grace
Water Represents:
The Holy Spirit’s renewing power
The Word of God
C. Greater Glory Promise (Haggai 2:9)
The latter house shall be greater than the former
Not just restoration but upgrade
Prayer for Complete Restoration
“Father of mercies, I bring every withered area of my life before You today – my health, time, spiritual fervor, and lost blessings. Like You restored the withered hand, breathe new life into my dead situations. I claim Joel 2:25 over my life and declare that every lost year is being recovered. Fill me afresh with Your Spirit, in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.”
Conclusion: Your Restoration Story is Being Written
God’s Timing:
The lecturer waited 12 years
The man with the withered hand waited decades
But restoration came suddenly
Your Response:
Maintain hope (Hebrews 10:23)
Stay obedient
Expect greater glory
Final Encouragement: That thing the enemy stole? God’s about to return it multiplied. Your withered hand? It’s about to receive new strength. Your lost years? They’re being redeemed. Your restoration is here!
Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man. Colossians 4:6
READ: John 8:1-11
1 Jesus went unto the mount of Olives. 2 And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them. 3 And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst, 4 They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act. 5 Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou?
6 This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not. 7 So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. 8 And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground. 9 And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.
10 When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee? 11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.
RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 18 JUNE 2025 TODAY MESSAGE
Over the past two days, I discussed the power of words; today, I will focus on how words can heal.
As a Christian, you should always be gracious with your words (Ephesians 4:29). You should be generous with giving compliments and telling people encouraging words. Simply saying things like, “I like your haircut,” can bring people out of sadness and put a smile on their faces. Your compliments must, however, be genuine because God will punish those who flatter others with their words (Psalm 12:3).
In Ruth 2:1, Boaz was described as a mighty man of wealth. Unlike some wealthy people who look down on their workers and speak rashly to them, Boaz encouraged his workers with his words, and they responded pleasantly (Ruth 2:4). I believe this is partly responsible for Boaz’s successful business. If you are a business owner and you curse or talk down on your workers, you are indirectly also cursing the work of your hands because they are the ones managing it for you.
Nabal, unlike Boaz, was a man who spoke negative words. When David sent his men to ask him to give them something, his response was terrible. He spoke harshly to the men and if his wife, Abigail, hadn’t intervened by going without his consent to soothe David with her words, everyone in his family would have been destroyed.
While Nabal’s words stirred up David’s anger and made him gather his men to go against the former’s household, Abigail’s words were seasoned with salt and kept her family from destruction (1 Samuel 25:1-35).
When you speak, what effect do your words have? Do they heal or destroy? Solomon said, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue…” (Proverbs 18:21).
Apostle Paul, in today’s memory verse, tells us to make sure that our speech is always with grace and seasoned with salt. Seasoning makes food more enjoyable. A fellow whose speech is well seasoned will always attract others to himself or herself because people go to places where they are appreciated and motivated.
When the woman caught in the act of adultery in today’s Bible reading was brought to Jesus, in the midst of many condemning words from other people, His words, “Go and sin no more,” brought her the liberty that she needed (John 8:11).
Beloved, let your words bring unbelievers to Jesus and show them His grace. Do not let your words be the reason people reject the gospel.
ACTION POINT:
Consciously give genuine compliments and encourage people with your words every day.

Words as Instruments of Divine Grace
Today’s devotional completes our three-part series on the power of words by focusing on their redemptive potential. While we’ve previously examined words’ destructive capacity and their role in relationships, we now explore how gracious speech can heal wounds, restore dignity, and draw people to Christ. “Father, make my mouth a fountain of life today. Where I’ve spoken harshly, bring conviction; where I’ve remained silent when I should have encouraged, bring repentance. Fill me with Your words of grace and wisdom. Let every conversation today draw someone closer to You, in Jesus’ name. Amen.”
A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger. Proverbs 15:1
READ: Genesis 3:1-13
1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? 2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: 3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. 4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: 5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. 7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons. 8 And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God amongst the trees of the garden. 9 And the Lord God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou? 10 And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.
11 And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat? 12 And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat. 13 And the Lord God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.
RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 17 JUNE 2025 TODAY MESSAGE
Indeed, words are very powerful. For example, if you are married, there are certain statements you must never make to your spouse because even after forgiving you, it will take the grace of God for him or her to forget them, and this might affect the marriage for a long time.
For instance, you should never tell your spouse that you regret marrying him or her. You should also never compare your spouse with other people or tag them as enemies of progress. The damage from such statements may be irreparable because the self-esteem of your spouse might have been destroyed. Whenever you are angry, it is better to keep quiet than to say things you will later regret. If you must speak, always ensure that you address the issue at hand and not the person.
The devil always likes to fuel quarrels to make people say things that will negatively affect one or more of the parties involved. Playing the blame game and attacking people verbally only worsens problems.
But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another. Galatians 5:15
When people bite and devour each other with wrong and negative words, they usually end up destroying their relationships. Christians must not be ignorant of the devices of the devil so that he doesn’t take advantage of them (2 Corinthians 2:11).
Often, the devil wants relationships to be full of strife so that he can be free to do whatever he wants, and when people say hurtful words to one another, they stir up strife. If you do not want the devil’s involvement in your relationships, you should take out the wood of wrong and negative words whenever there are disagreements because if there is no wood, the fire will go out.
Instead of using harsh words when you have a disagreement with someone, your responses should be soft because a soft answer will always turn away wrath (Proverbs 15:1).
Beloved, if someone close to you has said hurtful words to you in the past, I plead on the person’s behalf that you should forgive him or her. Please don’t let the words bring permanent damage to yourself or your relationship with that fellow. If you are in this situation, I declare your healing today, and if you have lost any God-given relationships, may the Almighty God restore them in the name of Jesus.
KEY POINT:
Never speak harsh and negative words, no matter the provocation.

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 17 JUNE 2025 COMMENTARY
Words as Relationship Builders or Destroyers
This devotional presents a sobering truth – words spoken in anger can inflict wounds that last longer than the conflict itself. Through biblical wisdom and practical insights, we’ll explore how to harness the power of speech to heal rather than harm, building relationships that reflect Christ’s love.
1. The Nuclear Words That Destroy Marriages
A. Three Forbidden Phrases in Covenant Relationships
“I regret marrying you”
Attacks the foundation of the union
Violates Genesis 2:24’s “one flesh” principle
Comparative Statements
“Why can’t you be like…”
Breeds insecurity (2 Corinthians 10:12)
“You’re my enemy of progress”
Assigns spiritual enemy status to covenant partner
Opens door for demonic influence
B. The Anatomy of Verbal Wounds
Unlike physical wounds:
No visible scars
Deeper penetration (Proverbs 18:8)
Longer healing time
God’s design:
Words should build up (Ephesians 4:29)
Seasoned with grace (Colossians 4:6)

Follow Christ’s model (1 Peter 2:23)
When Wronged:
Speak to build, not destroy (Proverbs 12:18)
Leave vengeance to God (Romans 12:19)
