OPEN HEAVEN 1 FEBRUARY 2026 TODAY DEVOTIONAL
TOPIC: DEALING WITH DEMONIC REPRESSION
MEMORISE:
Shall the prey be taken from the mighty, or the lawful captive delivered? But thus saith the LORD, Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered: for I will contend with him that contendeth with thee, and I will save thy children.
Isaiah 49:24-25
READ: Judges 6:1-6
And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord: and the Lorddelivered them into the hand of Midian seven years.
2 And the hand of Midian prevailed against Israel: and because of the Midianites the children of Israel made them the dens which are in the mountains, and caves, and strong holds.
3 And so it was, when Israel had sown, that the Midianites came up, and the Amalekites, and the children of the east, even they came up against them;
4 And they encamped against them, and destroyed the increase of the earth, till thou come unto Gaza, and left no sustenance for Israel, neither sheep, nor ox, nor ass.
5 For they came up with their cattle and their tents, and they came as grasshoppers for multitude; for both they and their camels were without number: and they entered into the land to destroy it.
6 And Israel was greatly impoverished because of the Midianites; and the children of Israel cried unto the Lord.
RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 1 FEBRUARY 2026 MESSAGE TODAY
When a fellow is repressed, the devil sits on the fellow and pushes him or her down. An oppressed person remains stagnant, but a repressed person declines steadily. The devil not only prevents a repressed fellow from rising, but he steadily destroys the fruits of the person’s previous efforts.
In today’s Bible reading, the Israelites offended God, and He handed them over to the Midianites for seven years.
The Midianites would allow the Israelites to plant and care for their plants, but as soon as it was time for harvest, they would come in their multitudes to wipe out all the harvest. When the devil represses a person, he causes that fellow to work hard for something and then attacks and leaves the fellow worse off than when he or she started.
Repression destroys all of a fellow’s efforts to increase. Some people make lots of money but cannot account for how they spend it. It is as though they have bags with multiple holes that steadily leak away their resources and progress. Even when they make a lot of money, they remain in debt.
When I was younger, an incident happened in our village. A rich man used his riches to forcefully take away a piece of land that belonged to another person. The other person said, “No problem. Even though I don’t have the money to fight you in court, we will see.” The rich man started building on the land, but the man he grabbed the land from did not say a word. The day the building was roofed, the original owner of the land went at night to plant a charm in the building, and by the next day, there were cracks in every corner of the building. The cracks were so bad that the rich man had to pull down the entire building. He tried to erect a building on the land several times, but cracks kept appearing.
As a result, he wasted a lot of resources without achieving his goal.
Beloved, if the devil has been repressing you in any form, I decree today that, whether it is your fault or not that the enemy has been pushing you down, it is your year of jubilee.
I pray that the fire of God will descend and deliver you from any form of repression that might be in your life, in Jesus’ name. God’s plan is for you to increase and move from glory to glory, and this will be your portion, in Jesus’ name.
PRAYER POINT:
Father, please let Your fire destroy any form of repression that might be in my life, in Jesus’ name.

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 1 FEBRUARY 2026 COMMENTARY
MEMORISE: Isaiah 49:24-25
“Shall the prey be taken from the mighty, or the lawful captive delivered? But thus saith the LORD, Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered: for I will contend with him that contendeth with thee, and I will save thy children.”
This scripture is a divine assurance that no form of repression or captivity, no matter how legal or deeply entrenched it seems, is beyond God’s power to reverse. It declares God as the ultimate Advocate who will personally fight for the deliverance of His own.
BIBLE READING: Judges 6:1-6
This passage illustrates the brutal reality of repression. The Israelites, due to disobedience, were handed over to the Midianites, who systematically destroyed the fruit of their labor at harvest time. This left Israel impoverished, powerless, and hiding in dens and caves—a perfect picture of a life under satanic repression where effort yields no increase.
The Nature of Satanic Repression
Daddy Adeboye masterfully distinguishes oppression from repression. While oppression creates stagnation, repression is a more aggressive, backward decline. It is the enemy’s strategy not just to halt progress but to actively destroy past achievements and future potential, ensuring that hard work results in net loss.
How Repression Manifests
Repression is a strategic attack on the fruits of labor and divine increase.
1. The Cycle of Wasted Effort
Symptom: Labor Without Harvest
As seen in Judges 6, the enemy allows the process of planting and cultivation but launches a targeted attack at the point of harvest. This creates a debilitating cycle of hope followed by devastating loss, leading to discouragement and a sense of futility.
2. The Leaking Bucket Syndrome
Symptom: Unexplained Loss & Perpetual Debt
This is when increase seems to vanish as soon as it arrives. Finances, opportunities, and blessings leak away through unseen “holes”—unforeseen crises, bad deals, recurring debts, or inexplicable wastage—preventing any meaningful accumulation or advancement.
3. The Foundation of Cracks
Symptom: Sudden Collapse at the Point of Success
Using the powerful illustration from the devotional, repression often strikes when a venture is nearly complete. What was built with great effort and resource develops fatal “cracks” and collapses, leaving the person worse off than when they started. This can affect careers, relationships, projects, or spiritual growth.
The Root Cause and God’s Response
The Legal Ground
The Israelites’ repression stemmed from disobedience, which gave the enemy a legal right (Judges 6:1). However, Daddy Adeboye makes a crucial point: repression can come “whether it is your fault or not.” Sometimes it is a generational stronghold or a targeted attack on a destiny. Regardless of the cause, God’s response in Isaiah 49:25 is clear: He will contend with the contender.
The Year of Jubilee Decree
The devotional pronounces a “year of jubilee”—a biblical time of supernatural restoration, debt cancellation, and freedom from slavery (Leviticus 25). This is a prophetic declaration that God is reversing the decree of repression. The “fire of God” is invoked as the cleansing, consuming force that breaks every chain and burns up the seeds of the enemy.
Breaking Free from Repression
1. Acknowledge the Source
Honestly assess if there is any disobedience, covenant, or generational pattern giving the enemy a legal right. Repentance closes these doors (1 John 1:9).
2. Claim Your Deliverance by Prophetic Decree
Use the authority in Jesus’ name, as modeled by Daddy Adeboye, to decree freedom. Declare Isaiah 49:24-25 over your life: “The lawful captive shall be delivered! The Lord contends with my contender!”
3. Reinforce Your Spiritual Foundation
After deliverance, build a fortified life in God through consistent prayer, the Word, and obedience. This removes old legal grounds and protects your harvest.
4. Guard Your Harvest
Be spiritually vigilant, especially at the point of expected increase. Cover your projects, finances, and family with the blood of Jesus and prayer. Do not assume success until it is fully secured in God.
Conclusion: From Repression to Possession
God’s plan is “increase and move from glory to glory” (2 Corinthians 3:18). Repression is a direct antithesis to this plan. The prayer and decree in this devotional are divine weapons to shatter that cycle.
Pray this:
“Father, I come against every spirit of repression assigned to waste my labor and steal my harvest. By the authority in Jesus’ name, I decree my Year of Jubilee begins now! Let the fire of God consume every satanic plantation and break every chain of backwardness. I reclaim every stolen harvest and declare that I shall increase and move from glory to glory, in Jesus’ mighty name!”
Action Steps:
- Identify the Pattern: Write down areas where you consistently experience loss after hard work.
- Prophetic Declarations: For 7 days, read Isaiah 49:24-25 and Judges 6:1-6 aloud, decreeing your freedom.
- Shut the Leaks: Bring your finances and projects before God in prayer, asking Him to reveal and seal any points of leakage.
- Give a “Thanksgiving Harvest”: As an act of faith, give a sacrificial offering to God, dedicating it as a seed for your forthcoming, protected harvest.
Remember: You are not a lawful captive. The Lord Himself contends with whoever contends with you. Your season of repression is over; your season of divinely protected increase has begun.
