TOPIC: BEAR FRUITS FOR CHRIST II

MEMORISE:
Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.
John 15:16

READ: John 15:1-16:
1 I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.
2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.
3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.
4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.
7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
8 Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.
9 As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.
10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.

11 These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.
12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.
13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.
15 Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.

16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 12 FEBRUARY 2026 MESSAGE TODAY

Today’s memory verse reveals that God saved your soul primarily so that He can save others through you. You are a co-labourer with Christ in the vast field of the earth.

Sadly, many people want God to enlarge them, but they are not expanding His kingdom. While it is good to pray for God to enlarge you, one area that must be enlarged in your life is your capacity to win souls and bear fruit. God indeed wants to enlarge you; however, it is not just for your enjoyment but so that you can reach more people for Him. I will discuss more on the need to ask God to enlarge your coast tomorrow.

There are numerous benefits of soul-winning. One of them is that your prayers will not be hindered. When you bear fruit and your fruit abides, you can ask anything in Jesus’ name, and the Father will respond speedily to your request.

In today’s memory verse, Jesus said that when you bring forth fruit, and it remains, whatever you ask the Father in His name will be given to you. Soul winners have a blank cheque from God; whenever they go before Him to ask for the things they desire, they can go with so much confidence because He will not deny their requests.

There was once a soldier who had suffered a bullet wound that had broken the bones of one of his legs. The doctors had to fix a piece of iron in the broken leg to help him walk with it. The injury and the iron made walking painful and difficult for him. However, despite the pain, he usually set aside a day of the week to go out and evangelise.

On one of those days, he was out from morning until evening, preaching the gospel. When he returned home, the pain in his leg became unbearable. He turned to God and said, “Lord, I wish this pain would go away so that I can serve you better.” Thereafter, he fell asleep. When he awoke, the piece of iron inside his broken leg was lying on the bed beside him, yet there was no drop of blood on the bed. While he slept, God performed a divine operation on his leg and restored it completely!

Beloved, do you desire instant and consistent answers to your prayers? Make evangelism your lifestyle; be addicted to winning souls for Jesus, and He will beautify your life with many wonderful testimonies.

KEY POINT:

Commit to making evangelism your lifestyle.

HYMN 32: TO THE WORK! TO THE WORK! WE ARE SERVANTS OF GOD

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 12 FEBRUARY 2026 COMMENTARY

MEMORISE: John 15:16
“Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.”
This verse is the divine mandate and contract for the believer. It establishes our salvation as a sovereign selection by Christ for a specific purpose: fruit-bearing. The purpose of being chosen is to go. The promise of answered prayer is directly linked to the fulfillment of this primary mission—bringing forth lasting fruit (souls established in the kingdom).

BIBLE READING: John 15:1-16
This passage provides the spiritual ecology of fruitfulness. Christ is the Vine, the source of all life and capacity. We are branches, designed solely to bear fruit. The Father is the Vinedresser, pruning us for greater productivity. To be disconnected from this mission is to be spiritually inert (v.6). The context of answered prayer (v.7, v.16) is inseparably tied to abiding in Christ and His words—which naturally results in the fruit of obedience, chiefly, fulfilling the Great Commission.

The Primary Purpose of Salvation: You Are a Co-Laborer

Daddy Adeboye begins with a foundational, often overlooked truth: “God saved your soul primarily so that He can save others through you.” This reframes salvation from a terminal destination to a commissioning point. You were not saved just from hell, but saved for harvest. The term “co-labourer with Christ” elevates soul-winning from a mere activity to the highest partnership—working alongside the Saviour Himself in His redemptive mission (1 Corinthians 3:9).

The Correct Prayer for Enlargement: Expanding Your Soul-Winning Capacity

A powerful correction is offered to common self-focused prayers. Many pray, “Lord, enlarge me” (my business, my influence, my wealth). While not wrong, the devotional directs this prayer to its proper kingdom focus: “one area that must be enlarged in your life is your capacity to win souls and bear fruit.”

  • God’s intent for enlargement is missional, not merely material. He enlarges you “so that you can reach more people for Him.” Your platform, resources, and influence are not for your palace, but for His pulpit. Your increase is for the gospel’s expansion.

The Supreme Benefit: Unhindered Access in Prayer

Here, Daddy Adeboye unveils one of the most powerful incentives for soul-winning: a “blank cheque from God.” This is based on the promise in John 15:16. The logic is divine and unbreakable:

  1. Condition: You go and bring forth lasting fruit (souls that abide).
  2. Promise: Then “whatsoever you shall ask… he may give it you.”
  • The soul-winner operates in a dimension of “speedily” answered prayers because they are aligned with God’s supreme passion. Their requests are filtered through a heart that beats for the lost, making their prayers resonate with the Father’s own will.
  • This is not a transactional “bargain with God,” but the natural outworking of intimate friendship (John 15:14-15). Friends of the King share His heart, and their requests reflect His kingdom priorities, making them irresistible to the Father.

The Testimony: Divine Reward for Missional Sacrifice

The story of the wounded soldier is a living parable of this principle.

  • His State: Severely injured, with constant pain, carrying a literal internal burden (the iron rod).
  • His Priority: Despite pain, he prioritized evangelism, setting aside a specific day weekly. He invested his most limited resource—his physical comfort—into the kingdom.
  • His Prayer: It was not a selfish demand, but a missional request: “so that I can serve you better.”His desire for healing was rooted in a desire for greater fruitfulness.
  • God’s Response: A miraculous, divine surgical operation. God honored the man’s sacrifice for souls with a supernatural intervention that removed his hindrance to service. This is the “beautifying” with testimonies that follows a life addicted to soul-winning.

The Call to an Evangelistic Lifestyle

The conclusion is a clear cause-and-effect proposition for anyone desiring a powerful prayer life and a testimony-filled existence:

  • If you desire: “Instant and consistent answers to your prayers” and a life “beautified… with many wonderful testimonies,”
  • Then you must: “Make evangelism your lifestyle; be addicted to winning souls for Jesus.”
Addiction implies a compulsion, a non-negotiable habit. It becomes the central rhythm of your life, the filter for your time, resources, and relationships.

How to Live as a Purposeful Co-Laborer

  1. Reframe Your Identity: Daily remind yourself: “I am chosen and ordained to bear lasting fruit. I am Christ’s co-laborer.”
  2. Redirect Your Prayers for Enlargement: When you pray for increase in any area, always add, “Lord, enlarge my capacity to reach more people for Your kingdom through this.”
  3. Claim Your Prayer Authority: Approach God in prayer with the confidence of a fruitful branch. Present your requests boldly, knowing that your obedience in soul-winning aligns your desires with His will.
  4. Sacrifice Comfort for the Commission: Like the soldier, let no legitimate hardship (time, convenience, social risk) excuse you from the weekly, deliberate practice of sharing your faith.
  5. Seek Fruit that Remains: Don’t just count decisions; disciple new believers. Ensure the fruit abides, for it is abiding fruit that unlocks the promise of John 15:16.

Prayer of a Fruitful Co-Laborer:
“Lord Jesus, thank You for choosing and ordaining me to bear lasting fruit. I accept my primary purpose as Your co-laborer. Today, I ask not just for enlargement, but for the enlargement of my soul-winning capacity. Prune me of all that hinders my fruitfulness. As I commit to making evangelism my lifestyle, I stand on the promise of John 15:16. Grant me boldness, divine appointments, and persevering love for the lost. May my life be so aligned with Your harvest that my prayers find instant favor in Your sight, and my walk with You be beautified with testimonies that glorify Your name. Amen.”
