OPEN HEAVEN 12 MAY 2025 TODAY DEVOTIONAL

TOPIC: FOR YOUR GOOD

MEMORISE

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
Romans 8:28

READ: Psalm 112:1-10

Praise ye the Lord. Blessed is the man that feareth the Lord, that delighteth greatly in his commandments.
2 His seed shall be mighty upon earth: the generation of the upright shall be blessed.
3 Wealth and riches shall be in his house: and his righteousness endureth for ever.
4 Unto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness: he is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous.
5 A good man sheweth favour, and lendeth: he will guide his affairs with discretion.

6 Surely he shall not be moved for ever: the righteous shall be in everlasting remembrance.
7 He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the Lord.
8 His heart is established, he shall not be afraid, until he see his desire upon his enemies.
9 He hath dispersed, he hath given to the poor; his righteousness endureth for ever; his horn shall be exalted with honour.
10 The wicked shall see it, and be grieved; he shall gnash with his teeth, and melt away: the desire of the wicked shall perish.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 12 MAY 2025 TODAY MESSAGE

In Jeremiah 1:5, God said to Jeremiah, “…Before I formed thee in the belly, I knew thee…”
You did not come to the world by accident; hence, God will not let the events of your life unfold by accident. As long as you are a child of God, everything that happens to you, whether you consider them good or bad, will work together for your good, as we see in today’s memory verse.

When you really consider all that God did to bring you close to Himself, you will know that He is great. Believe me, the mere fact that you are still alive today means that God has not finished with you yet. Before you were born, He saw all that you would go through in order to fulfil your destiny. Therefore, be at rest because God is in control. His thoughts towards you are of good and not of evil to bring you to an expected end (Jeremiah 29:11).

Not long after I joined the Redeemed Christian Church of God, God made it clear to me that I was fulfilling His purpose for my life. He told me very clearly that although I was an academic, I was to follow a spiritual leader who didn’t have formal education. At one time, the same person who invited me to the church advised me to leave. After I organised the first Christ the Redeemer’s Congress which was a huge success, he told me, “Now, we have found your ministry. You can organise it, and I will finance it; we don’t need this church.” However, I just smiled and refused his offer. There were people who made my life very difficult because I decided to stay in the church. There were several opportunities to leave, but God was merciful, and He showed me that I was properly positioned for everything to work together for my good.

Beloved, all things will work together for your good when you love God and stay in His purpose. However, you can’t disobey Him and expect that things will turn out for your good.

You can’t leave the place God has asked you to stay or stay where God has asked you to leave and enjoy what God has prepared for you.

If you are living in sin, turn to God today and repent. No matter how terrible your past is, once you turn to Him, He will make everything work together for your good.

KEY POINT

All things will work together for your good when you embrace God’s purpose for your life.

HYMN 13: Jesus loves me! This I know

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 12 MAY 2025 COMMENTARY

Memorise: Romans 8:28 (KJV)

This foundational Scripture establishes the devotional’s central truth: God orchestrates every circumstance—both pleasant and painful—to fulfill His perfect will for His children.

Bible Reading: Psalm 112:1-10 (KJV)

This psalm describes the blessed life of those who fear the Lord, emphasizing that righteousness and obedience attract divine favor even amid trials (v.4: “Unto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness”).

Key Insights from today’s Open Heaven Devotional:

1. Divine Foreknowledge and Purpose (Jeremiah 1:5)

  • Preordained Destiny:
God knew you before conception and designed your life’s script (Psalm 139:16).
  • Implied Truth: Your struggles, delays, and victories are part of His master plan.
  • Example: Joseph’s betrayal and prison were necessary detours to his palace destiny (Genesis 50:20).

2. The “All Things” Principle (Romans 8:28)

  • Scope of God’s Sovereignty:
    • “All things” includes:
      • Blessings (promotions, miracles)
      • Trials (losses, betrayals, delays)
    • Condition:“To them that love God… called according to His purpose”
      • Love for God = Obedience (John 14:15)
      • Divine calling = Staying in your assigned place (1 Corinthians 7:20)

3. Daddy Adeboye’s Testimony: Obedience Amid Temptation

  • Divine Positioning:
    • An academic called to follow an uneducated spiritual father (defying human logic).
  • Tests of Loyalty:
    • Financial offers to leave RCCG (like Jesus’ wilderness temptation—Matthew 4:8-10).
    • Persecution from within (like David’s trials under Saul—1 Samuel 18:8-9).
  • Key Lesson: Obedience unlocks the “all things” promise.

4. Two Conditions for the Promise

  1. Love for God (Deuteronomy 6:5)
    • Demonstrated through:
      • Prayer (Jeremiah 29:12)
      • Word study (Joshua 1:8)
      • Fellowship (Hebrews 10:25)
  2. Alignment with Purpose (Ephesians 2:10)
    • Avoid:
      • Self-directed paths (Proverbs 14:12)
      • Comparison traps (John 21:21-22)
      • Sinful compromises (1 Corinthians 10:12)

5. The Repentance Clause

  • Hope for the Fallen:
    • “No matter how terrible your past…” echoes the prodigal son (Luke 15:20-24).
  • Restoration Process:
    1. Confession (1 John 1:9)
    2. Renunciation (2 Corinthians 7:10)
    3. Realignment (Revelation 2:5)

Practical Applications for Believers

For the Discouraged:

  • Action: List past trials and note how God used them for good (e.g., skills gained, pride broken).
  • Prayer: “Open my eyes to see Your hand in my struggles” (Psalm 119:18).

For the Tempted to Stray:

  • Study: Compare Jonah’s flight (chaos) with Nehemiah’s focus (success)—Nehemiah 6:3.
  • Declare: “I will not abandon my divine assignment.”

For the Repentant:

  • Meditate on:
    • David’s restoration after adultery (Psalm 51)
    • Peter’s reinstatement after denial (John 21:15-17)

Warning vs. Promise

  • Warning: “Disobedience forfeits the ‘all things’ guarantee” (1 Samuel 15:23).
  • Promise: “Obedience activates supernatural turnaround” (Isaiah 1:19).

Conclusion: Trusting the Divine Weaver

  1. Your life is not random—God is weaving every thread (good/bad) into a masterpiece (Romans 8:28).
  2. Stay in position—like a puzzle piece, you only “fit” where God placed you.
  3. Repent quickly—sin delays destiny, but confession restores (James 5:16).

Prayer Response

“Father, thank You for orchestrating my life. Help me to love You wholeheartedly and remain steadfast in Your purpose. Where I’ve strayed, forgive and realign me. Let every circumstance—joyful or painful—fulfill Your plan for me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

Final Charge
“An obedient life is the only canvas upon which God can paint His masterpiece.”
Will you yield to the Master’s hand today?
