This is a daily devotion written by Pastor E. A. Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).

OPEN HEAVEN 2 NOVEMBER 2025 TODAY DEVOTIONAL
TOPIC: THE TRINITY
MEMORISE:
The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.
2 Corinthians 13:14
READ: 1 John 5:5-8:
5 Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?
6 This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.
7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
8 And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.
RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 2 NOVEMBER 2025 TODAY MESSAGE
Many people find it difficult to understand the concept of the Trinity. The Bible says in 1 John 5:7 that the Father, the Word – Jesus according to John 1:14 – and the Holy Ghost are one. They are one, yet they are three distinct entities.
I’ll explain it this way: I am one man called Adeboye, but I can express myself differently in different situations. For example, if my wife breaks a ceramic plate, I will be gentle Adeboye; I will speak gently to her and ensure that she is fine. However, if it is my son, I could be furious Adeboye because I might be angry with him for being careless. I am the same person, but l’ll show different sides of myself depending on what is needed in different situations.
God is one. However, He chooses to express Himself in three different forms. Water can be in liquid, gas (steam), or solid form (ice) based on changes in its temperature. In the same vein, God is one God, and He chooses to express Himself as the Holy Spirit when needed, the Word when needed, and the Father when needed. One expression is not less God than the other, just as ice or steam is not less water than its liquid form.
God the Father is the side of God that is fatherly. However, just like Adeboye the father, which I described in the first paragraph, He can be strict in this form. During the dispensation of the Father in the Old Testament, people got immediate judgment for their sins.
God the Son, who is Jesus Christ, came in the flesh, so as Hebrews 4:15 says, He has feelings just like us, and He is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). He is the most relatable to us as He has gone through the temptations we are currently going through, and He advocates for us with the Father (1 John 2:1).
God the Spirit is the creative side of God. He is the One who lives in you to do the things that were otherwise impossible to you (Romans 8:11, Philippians 4:13, 1 Corinthians 3:16, 1 John 2:27, John 14:26).
Beloved, knowing the Trinity will empower you to live above limitations. Also, to enjoy God’s fullness, you need to know Him as the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. I pray that you will experience the fullness of the Godhead in your life, in Jesus’ name.
KEY POINT
Knowing the Trinity will help you to enjoy the fullness of God and empower you to live above limitations.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR
John 3-4
HYMN 18: PRAISE TO THE LORD THE ALMIGHTY
OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 2 NOVEMBER 2025 COMMENTARY
MEMORISE: 2 Corinthians 13:14 (KJV)
“The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.”
This apostolic benediction beautifully distinguishes the roles within the Godhead while affirming their perfect unity. It presents the Father as the source of love, the Son as the channel of grace, and the Holy Spirit as the agent of intimate fellowship.
BIBLE READING: 1 John 5:5-8
This passage establishes the unified testimony of heaven concerning Jesus Christ:
- v. 5-6: Victory comes through faith in Jesus, who came by water (His humanity and ministry) and blood (His sacrificial death).
- v. 7: The heavenly witnesses—the Father, the Word (Son), and the Holy Spirit—are one in essence and testimony.
- v. 8: The earthly witnesses (water, blood, and the Spirit) agree with the heavenly, confirming the truth of Christ’s identity and work.
The Mystery and Majesty of the Trinity: Experiencing God’s Fullness
Pastor E.A. Adeboye tackles one of the most profound mysteries of the Christian faith with remarkable clarity, using practical analogies to illuminate the truth of the Trinity. The central message is that this doctrine is not a mere theological puzzle but the very key to living a victorious and empowered Christian life.
1. The Core Truth: One God in Three Persons
Unity in Essence, Distinction in Function:
The Bible unequivocally states that God is one (Deuteronomy 6:4). However, this one God reveals Himself in three distinct, co-equal, and co-eternal Persons: the Father, the Son (the Word), and the Holy Spirit. They are not three gods, but one God in three Persons, sharing the same divine nature, glory, and power.
Beyond Human Analogy:
Daddy Adeboye wisely uses analogies (the water states, his own relational roles) to make the concept relatable, but he does so knowing they are limited. The Trinity is a unique reality that transcends human comparison. The analogies help us grasp the concept of one essence with different expressions, but they cannot fully explain the reality of three distinct Persons in one Being.
2. The Distinct Expressions of the Godhead
The devotional powerfully breaks down how the one true God relates to humanity through three primary expressions, each with a distinct emphasis.
| Expression of God | Primary Role & Nature | Key Scripture & Implication |
|---|---|---|
| God the Father | The Sovereign Ruler and Judge. He is the ultimate source, the fatherly authority who establishes law, order, and justice. | Hebrews 12:9. He is to be revered and obeyed. We approach Him with worship and holy fear, knowing He disciplines those He loves. |
| God the Son (Jesus) | The Compassionate Savior and Mediator. He is the relatable, empathetic High Priest who became flesh to redeem us. | Hebrews 4:15. We can approach Him with every weakness and temptation, knowing He understands and advocates for us before the Father. |
| God the Holy Spirit | The Empowering Presence and Helper. He is the creative, indwelling power of God who enables us to live godly lives. | John 14:26. He is our Teacher, Comforter, and the source of our strength, guiding us into all truth and empowering us for witness. |
3. The Practical Power of Knowing the Trinity
Living Above Limitations:
Understanding the Trinity is not an academic exercise; it is the foundation for a supernatural life. We are not called to relate to a distant, monolithic deity, but to engage with a triune God who meets every need of the human spirit.
Accessing God’s Fullness:
To know God only as a stern Judge (Father) leads to fear. To know Him only as a historical Savior (Son) leads to a powerless faith. To know Him only as an abstract force (Spirit) leads to mysticism. Daddy Adeboye emphasizes that we must know and relate to all three Persons to experience the complete package of salvation: the Father’s love, the Son’s grace, and the Spirit’s communion.
How to Relate to the Triune God
1. Relate to the Father:
- Approach Him with reverence as your Creator and Sovereign.
- Trust in His perfect plan and fatherly care.
- Receive His discipline as proof of His love and commitment to your holiness.
2. Relate to the Son:
- Trust in His finished work on the cross for your salvation.
- Rely on His ongoing intercession for you daily.
- Follow His example and teachings as your Lord and Master.
3. Relate to the Holy Spirit:
- Yield to His leading and promptings in your daily decisions.
- Depend on His power for service, prayer, and overcoming sin.
- Welcome His ministry of teaching, comforting, and assuring you.
Warning: The Danger of an Imbalanced View
A truncated view of God leads to a stunted Christian life. Ignoring the Father leads to a loss of awe and reverence. Ignoring the Son leads to a lack of a saving relationship and a mediator. Ignoring the Holy Spirit leads to a life of self-effort and powerlessness.
Conclusion: Entering Into the Divine Fellowship
Pray this:
“Father God, I worship You as my Creator and Sovereign. Lord Jesus, I thank You for Your grace and saving work. Holy Spirit, I welcome Your presence and power into my life. Teach me to know and experience the fullness of the Godhead—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—that I may live a life that truly overcomes the world, in Jesus’ name.”
Action Steps:
- Meditate on the Benediction: Spend time this week reflecting on 2 Corinthians 13:14. Ask God to make the grace of Christ, the love of the Father, and the communion of the Holy Spirit a tangible reality in your life.
- Audit Your Prayer Life: Do you pray primarily to one Person of the Trinity? Intentionally address your prayers to the Father, in the name of the Son, and in the power of the Holy Spirit.
- Study the Distinctives: Read John 14-16, where Jesus explicitly explains the roles of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Remember: The ultimate purpose of understanding the Trinity is to enter into the divine fellowship itself—to experience the love, grace, and communion that has eternally existed between the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
“For through him [Christ] we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.” (Ephesians 2:18). This is the pathway to God’s fullness.
