32 And it came to pass, as Peter passed throughout all quarters, he came down also to the saints which dwelt at Lydda.
33 And there he found a certain man named Aeneas, which had kept his bed eight years, and was sick of the palsy.
34 And Peter said unto him, Aeneas, Jesus Christ maketh thee whole: arise, and make thy bed. And he arose immediately.
RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 21 APRIL 2026 TODAY MESSAGE
There was once a young boy whose idol-worshipping parents took to an Ifa priest – a traditional spiritualist – when he was born. When they got to the priest, he looked at the baby and said, “You had better take this boy to Jesus Christ.” On hearing that, his parents got upset and said, “What kind of nonsense is this? How can an Ifa priest recommend Jesus?
Something must be wrong with you.” As they took the boy away from the place, he suddenly fell sick and subsequently suffered poor health all through his childhood. His parents took him everywhere in search of a solution, but the boy kept falling sick.
One day, someone told the boy’s parents to bring him to one of our programmes. They brought him to the programme covered in all kinds of charms.
As I was preaching, I suddenly noticed a little stir in the congregation. After the service, I enquired about what caused the commotion earlier, and I was told that, during the service, the boy’s mother removed his shirt and hung it on a chair because the sun was scorching hot, and the heat became unbearable for him. Shortly after, a snake came out of the boy’s shirt while I was ministering. The power of God came down heavily and dealt with every evil force that was working against the boy.
The snake was killed, and the boy received total deliverance from sickness. I pray that God will uproot anything He has not planted in your body, in Jesus’ name.
Today’s Bible reading tells us about a man, Aeneas, who was bedridden for eight years. He must have had different types of bedsores for those eight years since he couldn’t move by himself, and must have been at the mercy of everyone around him until Peter visited his hometown, Lydda. On seeing him, Peter commanded him to arise and make his bed. Imagine someone who couldn’t move from his bed by himself for eight years suddenly rising up to make his bed and move around.
Beloved, God can make long-lasting illnesses disappear in the twinkling of an eye. Therefore, if you are sick or have a loved one who is sick, call on Him today, and He will reverse that sickness and turn it into good health. I pray that God’s power will destroy any illness that might exist in your body and give you divine health, in Jesus’ name.
PRAYER POINT:
Father, please reverse any incurable sickness that exists in my life or those of my loves ones, in Jesus’ name.

This beautiful promise paints a picture of the Messiah as the Sun of Righteousness, bringing healing not just as an occasional act but as part of His very nature. Just as the sun rises without fail each morning, bringing light and warmth, Jesus arises over His people bringing healing. The phrase “healing in his wings” suggests the rays of the sun spreading out like wings, touching everything with life and restoration. Those who fear God can expect this continual, natural flow of healing from His presence.

This passage records Peter’s ministry in Lydda, where he encountered a man named Aeneas who had been bedridden for eight years. Aeneas was paralyzed, completely dependent on others, unable to move or care for himself. Eight years of lying in one place would have brought bedsores, muscle wasting, and complete loss of dignity. When Peter saw him, he didn’t pray a long prayer or organize a healing service. He simply spoke: “Aeneas, Jesus Christ maketh thee whole: arise, and make thy bed.” Immediately, Aeneas arose. The command to “make thy bed” was significant—it showed that his healing was complete. He wasn’t just able to stand; he was able to work, to serve, to function normally. This passage demonstrates that Jesus Christ is still in the business of making people whole, and His power can reverse even long-standing conditions in an instant.
The Sun of Righteousness Rises with Healing
In today’s devotional, Pastor E.A. Adeboye brings us face to face with Jesus as the Sun of Righteousness—the One whose very presence carries healing. Just as the physical sun brings light to darkness and warmth to cold, Jesus brings healing to sickness and deliverance to bondage. And no force of darkness can stand when He arises.
The Boy the Idol Priest Rejected
The devotional opens with one of the most remarkable testimonies you will ever hear. A baby boy was born to idol-worshipping parents, and they took him to an Ifa priest (a traditional spiritualist) for blessings or initiation. But when the priest looked at the baby, he gave a shocking response: “You had better take this boy to Jesus Christ.”
The parents were furious. “What kind of nonsense is this? How can an Ifa priest recommend Jesus? Something must be wrong with you.”
They stormed out with the baby, rejecting the priest’s counsel. But as they left, the boy suddenly fell sick. From that moment on, he suffered poor health throughout his childhood. His parents took him everywhere—to doctors, to native doctors, to every conceivable source of help—but the boy kept falling sick. Nothing worked.
Years passed. The boy remained sick, weak, afflicted. His parents, despite their anger at the priest’s words, had spent everything seeking a solution. They had covered him with charms, hoping for protection and healing. But the sickness persisted.
Then someone told them about a programme where Daddy Adeboye would be ministering. Desperate, they brought the boy, still covered in all kinds of charms, hoping for a miracle.
During the service, something unusual happened. The sun was scorching hot, and the boy’s mother removed his shirt, hanging it on a chair nearby to give him some relief. As Daddy Adeboye was preaching, a little stir occurred in the congregation. After the service, he asked what had happened.
The report was astonishing: while the Word was going forth, a snake came out of the boy’s shirt. The power of God came down heavily, and the snake was killed on the spot. The boy received total deliverance from sickness.
All those years, the boy’s sickness was not just illness—it was demonic infestation. A snake had been operating in his body, causing continual affliction. The charms his parents placed on him couldn’t help because they were part of the problem, not the solution. But when the Sun of Righteousness arose with healing in His wings, the snake had to come out. The power of God exposed and destroyed what darkness had hidden.
Aeneas: Eight Years on a Bed
The Bible reading gives us another powerful example of instantaneous healing. Aeneas had been bedridden for eight years. Eight years of paralysis. Eight years of bedsores. Eight years of depending on others for everything. Eight years of watching life pass him by.
Then Peter came to Lydda. He didn’t bring a medical team. He didn’t bring expensive equipment. He brought the name of Jesus. He looked at Aeneas and said, “Jesus Christ maketh thee whole: arise, and make thy bed.”
Notice the command: “make thy bed.” This was not just about getting up—it was about taking responsibility. It was proof that the healing was complete. A man who couldn’t move for eight years was now expected to fold his bedding and arrange his sleeping area. And he did it.
Eight years of paralysis ended in a moment. One encounter with the power of Jesus reversed everything.
What These Testimonies Teach Us
1. Sickness Can Have Spiritual Roots
The boy’s illness was not just physical—it was connected to demonic activity. A snake in his shirt represented a spiritual attack manifesting physically. Not all sickness is directly caused by demons, but some certainly is. When medicine fails repeatedly, when patterns of illness persist despite treatment, it may be time to look beyond the physical.
2. Human Solutions Cannot Solve Spiritual Problems
The parents took the boy everywhere—doctors, native doctors, charms, rituals. Nothing worked. In fact, the charms probably made things worse because they connected him more deeply to the powers that were afflicting him. Only Jesus could set him free.
3. Divine Appointments Break Long-Term Bondage
The boy was brought to the programme. Aeneas was visited by Peter. God arranges meetings between His power and our need. You may have been sick for years, but your divine appointment is on the calendar.
4. Healing Can Be Instantaneous
Eight years ended in a moment. A lifetime of sickness ended when the snake came out. God doesn’t need time to heal. He can do in an instant what medicine cannot do in decades.
5. Exposure Brings Deliverance
The snake came out when the Word was going forth. The power of God exposes what darkness tries to hide. When Jesus arises, hidden things are revealed and destroyed.
What Kind of Sickness Needs Reversing?
The devotional addresses every form of illness:
- Chronic conditions that have lasted years
- Mysterious illnesses that doctors cannot diagnose
- Spiritual attacks manifesting as physical symptoms
- Generational sickness that runs in families
- Incurable diseases that medicine has given up on

How to Receive Your Healing
- Call on Him: The devotional says, “If you are sick or have a loved one who is sick, call on Him today.” Not tomorrow. Not when you feel more worthy. Today. Now.
- Come to Where His Power Is: The boy was brought to the programme. Aeneas was in Lydda when Peter came. Position yourself where God is moving—church, healing services, places where the Word is preached with power.
- Remove Hindrances: The mother removed the boy’s shirt, exposing what was hidden. Sometimes you need to remove things that give the enemy a foothold—charms, objects, ungodly covenants. Let the light in.
- Receive the Word: When Peter spoke, Aeneas arose. When the Word went forth, the snake came out. The Word of God carries healing power. Receive it, believe it, act on it.
- Take Up Your Bed: When healing comes, don’t stay in bed. Get up and do what you couldn’t do before. Your action proves your healing and frustrates the enemy.
The Snake Must Come Out
The detail about the snake is crucial. For years, a snake had been operating in that boy’s body, causing sickness. It was hidden. It was secret. No doctor could find it. No medicine could kill it.
But when the Sun of Righteousness arose, the snake had to come out. It couldn’t hide in the presence of Jesus. It couldn’t survive the heat of His glory.
Whatever snake is hiding in your body—cancer, diabetes, heart disease, autoimmune disorder, chronic pain—when Jesus arises, it must come out. It cannot remain where His healing power is present.
Conclusion: Your Healing Is Rising
The memory verse promises that the Sun of Righteousness will arise with healing in His wings. That’s not a possibility—it’s a promise. For those who fear His name, healing is as certain as the sunrise.
Your long-standing sickness is no match for His power. Your mysterious condition is no mystery to Him. Your incurable disease is not incurable to the One who made the body.
He is arising over you right now. His wings are spreading, carrying healing rays. Receive it. Rise up. Make your bed. The snake is coming out.
Pray this:
“Sun of Righteousness, arise over me today. Let Your healing rays penetrate every part of my body. Expose every hidden work of darkness. Let every snake that has been operating in my body come out and die. I receive my healing now. Eight years, thirty-eight years, a lifetime—it ends today. Make me whole, Lord, for Your glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
Action Steps:
- Identify the sickness: Write down any condition you or a loved one is facing. Be specific.
- Call on Him daily: This week, set aside time each day to specifically pray for healing over that condition.
- Remove hindrances: Examine your life for anything that might give the enemy a foothold—objects, relationships, covenants. Remove them.
- Position yourself: Attend church services, healing programs, places where God’s power is moving. Your divine appointment may be this Sunday.
- Act on your healing: When you sense God moving, do what you couldn’t do before. Get up. Move. Testify.
