TOPIC: NEVER GIVE UP II

Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not;

27 Why sayest thou, O Jacob, and speakest, O Israel, My way is hid from the Lord, and my judgment is passed over from my God?
28 Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.
29 He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.
30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:
31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 12 SEPTEMBER 2026 TODAY MESSAGE
Yesterday, I encouraged you not to give up on your God-given dreams. Today, I would like to show you that even if it appears as if your dreams can no longer come to pass, God can revive and restore them by His mercy.
In Matthew 4:12, Jesus promised to make Peter a fisher of men if he followed Him. Peter followed Jesus for three and a half years, but after Jesus was crucified, he returned to fishing. Thankfully, Jesus Christ, in His infinite mercy, visited him in John 21:15-17 and restored him to the path of his destiny by telling him, “Peter, feed my lambs.” Then, on the Day of Pentecost, as described in Acts 2:1-4, the Holy Spirit descended upon Peter and the others who were with him. The failed fisherman suddenly became someone who won 3,000 souls to Christ after one sermon (Acts 2:41). Before long, the same Peter was speaking boldly to the rulers of the land (Acts 4:8-13), and his shadow was healing the sick (Acts 5:15-16). If God could bring Peter back to the path of fulfilling his destiny, He can do the same for anyone who has given up on his or her dreams.
At some points in our lives, we all feel weak and weary. I have also observed that people tend to feel tired and are often tempted to give up when they are on the verge of fulfilling their dreams.
Don’t let weariness or any sort of temptation make you abandon your dreams. Instead, at such points, cry out to God for mercy to uphold you and help you not to give up. Isaiah 40:29 says that He gives power to the faint, and to those who have no might, He increases strength. In 2 Corinthians 4:1, Paul said that as we receive mercy, we faint not.
Mercy can keep you from fainting and giving up. It will keep you from turning your back on everything you have worked hard for at the edge of your breakthrough. Never allow weariness to overcome you; it was weariness that led Esau to despise his birthright (Genesis 25:29-34), and many still fall into similar costly mistakes today.
Beloved, do you feel tired and ready to give up? Cry to God for mercy. Ask him for guidance, strength, and all the help you need to fulfil His will for your life. His mercy will uphold you until you fulfil your destiny, in Jesus’ name.
PRAYER POINT
Father, please let Your mercy empower me to keep going and not give up, in Jesus’ name.

Today, Daddy Adeboye takes us a step deeper: even if you feel your dreams are completely dead and can never happen, God’s mercy can revive and restore them.
Understanding the Message: Restoring the Broken Dream
1. The “Peter” Pattern: Returning to Old Nets
Daddy reminds us of Simon Peter, who was promised by Jesus that he would become a “fisher of men”. Yet, after the trauma of the crucifixion, Peter felt his dream was dead and went straight back to his old life of fishing.
- The Mercy of Restoration: Jesus did not abandon Peter in his defeat. He met him by the lakeside, restored him, and recommissioned him to “feed my lambs”.
- The Supernatural Turnaround: Once the Holy Spirit came at Pentecost, Peter’s life exploded with power. The failed fisherman preached one sermon and won 3,000 souls. He stood boldly before the rulers who had crucified Jesus, and even his passing shadow healed the sick.
- The Lesson for You: If God could pick Peter up from the shore of failure and restore his destiny, He can do the exact same for you, no matter how far you think you have fallen.
2. The Danger of Weariness at the Edge of Breakthrough
Pastor makes a profound observation: we are most tempted to give up when we are on the very verge of our breakthrough.
- The Esau Mistake: Daddy warns us using the tragic example of Esau, who allowed physical tiredness and hunger to make him despise and sell his priceless birthright.
- The Power of Mercy: When you feel too weak to carry on, you must not rely on your own power. Isaiah 40:29 reminds us that God gives power to the faint and increases strength to those with no might. It is His divine mercy that keeps us from fainting and throwing away our hard work.
Relating This to Your Everyday Life
It is incredibly easy to get tired in our modern world. You might be exhausted from sending job applications, waiting for a health report, or praying for a broken marriage. Out of weariness, you might be tempted to go back to “old nets”—old toxic habits, compromising shortcuts, or giving up on your goals entirely.
To help us stand firm, we can look at two scriptures not mentioned in the devotional:
- Proverbs 24:10: “If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small.” This scripture reminds us that trials test our spiritual capacity. When our strength is small, we must rely completely on God’s infinite power.
- Ezekiel 37:4-5: Just as God commanded Ezekiel to prophesy to dry, dead bones to live again, God can speak to any “dead” career, business, or dream in your life and breathe fresh life into it.
Life Example: Think of an entrepreneur who has spent years building a business only to face a sudden financial crash. The temptation is to shut down and return to a secure but unfulfilling job. Like Peter, they want to return to “fishing”. But this devotional teaches us that instead of packing up, we must cry out for God’s mercy to reveal the next step.
Action Steps
- Identify Your “Old Nets”: Write down any areas where you are tempted to retreat to your old way of life or make compromises out of frustration.
- Wait and Refuel: Dedicate quiet time to wait on the Lord through worship and Scripture, allowing Him to renew your strength so you can mount up like an eagle.
- Cry Out for Mercy: Replace complaining with prayer. When weariness hits, immediately ask God for the mercy that keeps us from fainting.
Prayer Points
- Father, let Your infinite mercy locate me today and revive every dead or dying dream in my life, in Jesus’ name.
- Lord, deliver me from the spirit of weariness; do not let me faint or give up on the verge of my breakthrough, in Jesus’ name.
- Father, keep me from making costly, desperate decisions like Esau did in his moment of weakness, in Jesus’ name.
- Father, let Your Holy Spirit descend upon me afresh, turning my past failures into bold, undeniable testimonies of Your power, in Jesus’ name.
- Lord, I wait upon You today; please renew my strength, let me run without being weary, and walk without fainting, in Jesus’ name.
- Father, let Your mercy empower me to keep going, and let my expectations over my family, career, and spiritual life be fully realised, in Jesus’ name
