OPEN HEAVEN 26 SEPTEMBER 2025 TODAY DEVOTIONAL
TOPIC: DIVINE TURNAROUND
MEMORISE:
When the Lord turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream.
Psalm 126:1
READ: Matthew 17:14-18
14 And when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a certain man, kneeling down to him, and saying,
15 Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is lunatick, and sore vexed: for ofttimes he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water.
16 And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him.
17 Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me.
18 And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour.
RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 26 SEPTEMBER 2025 TODAY MESSAGE
In 1984, a woman came to me from Oyo state in South-Western Nigeria for prayers concerning her finances. I told her, “Don’t worry, God will provide for you. You can go home now.” She said, “I cannot go home because I don’t have the money to travel back.” I didn’t have much then either, but I divided the little money I had into two and gave her one half – this happened in June.
By the following August, she came back and bought a big cow for the church’s annual convention. God can turn people’s stories around and make their lives better in a very short time.
Years ago, I heard the story of a woman who was barren. Her pastor had been praying with her for the fruit of the womb for several years, but nothing happened.
Finally, the pastor called her and said, “All the other barren women that l have prayed for have already become mothers. Why is your case different?” The woman then told the pastor that when she was young, she got pregnant and tried to have an abortion, which failed. To save her life, the doctors removed her womb.
The pastor asked, “Do you mean you have no womb?” The woman replied, “Yes”. The pastor asked again, “Then why are you asking me to pray that you become pregnant?” The woman replied, “But you’re the one who taught us that with God, nothing shall be impossible.”
From that day, the pastor began to avoid her. Anytime he saw the woman coming from one direction, he would walk away from her in the opposite direction. This went on for a while, and one day, the woman told herself, “It’s alright. If the pastor is avoiding me, I will look unto God and take my eyes off him.”
That night, she had a dream in which she was standing naked in a room. A huge man came through the wall with the skin of an animal in his hand. She became so frightened that she couldn’t move. When the man got to her, he wrapped the skin of the animal around her and disappeared. She woke up, shaking and sweating, but immediately, she knew that God had come to give her a new womb. Today, she is the mother of many beautiful children.
Beloved, Jesus is the master at turning negative situations around. If you are currently experiencing any negative situation in your life, I decree that God will give you a mighty turnaround, in Jesus’ name.
KEY POINT

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 26 SEPTEMBER 2025 COMMENTARY
MEMORISE: Psalm 126:1 (KJV)
“When the LORD turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream.”
This verse captures the surreal, overwhelming joy that accompanies a sudden and dramatic divine turnaround. It feels so miraculous and unexpected that it seems like a dream. It is a celebration of God’s power to reverse irreversible situations and restore what was lost.
BIBLE READING: Matthew 17:14-18 (KJV)
This passage recounts Jesus healing a boy with a lunatic ( epileptic) spirit that his disciples could not cure. Jesus rebukes the demon, and the child is healed “from that very hour.” This demonstrates Christ’s absolute authority over every negative, oppressive situation. His intervention brings an immediate and complete turnaround where human effort had failed.
The God of Sudden Turnarounds
Daddy Adeboye’s message is a powerful testament to God’s ability to orchestrate dramatic reversals in a short period. The story of the woman from Oyo State illustrates this perfectly. In June, she was destitute, without even travel fare. By August—a mere two months later—she was a benefactor, able to donate a cow. This underscores that God’s economy is not bound by time or human lack. He can compress years of struggle into a moment of supernatural provision.
The Limit of Human Help and the Beginning of Faith
The second story is the heart of the devotional, presenting a profound theological truth. The pastor represented human help and limited faith. His ministry had boundaries; he could pray for a barren woman but was utterly confounded by a woman with no womb. His avoidance of her was an admission of his own spiritual limitation. This was a necessary crisis point for the woman. It forced her to shift her focus from the anointed man of God to the Almighty God Himself. Her declaration, “I will look unto God and take my eyes off him,” was the pivotal step of faith that unlocked her miracle. Sometimes, God allows our human support systems to fail so that we will place our entire trust in Him alone.
The Nature of Divine Turnarounds: Creating Something from Nothing
The woman’s dream is rich with symbolism. Her nakedness represented her vulnerability, shame, and total lack. The “huge man” was a divine messenger (likely an angel). The “skin of an animal” symbolizes a new covering, a new creation. In the Old Testament, God made garments of skin to cover Adam and Eve’s nakedness (Genesis 3:21), signifying a covering for sin and shame. In this case, God was providing a new womb—creating a vital organ from nothing. This is the essence of a God-class turnaround: He doesn’t just improve a situation; He creates entirely new realities where none existed before (Romans 4:17).
The Response to a Turnaround: Testimony and Celebration
The outcome of both testimonies is celebration and testimony. The woman from Oyo returned with a cow, a public offering that testified to God’s provision. The formerly barren woman became a “mother of many,” a living testament to God’s creative power. A true God-given turnaround is never just for private consumption; it is meant to be shared to build the faith of others and bring glory to God.
The Decree for a Turnaround
The devotional concludes with a faith-filled decree, modeling the authority believers have to proclaim God’s turnaround in their lives. This is not a wish but a declaration of faith based on God’s nature and promises.
Pray this:
“Father Lord, I thank You that You are the God of suddenlies and the Master of turnarounds. I bring my negative situation before You today: [mention your specific situation]. I confess that I have often looked to human solutions and have been disappointed. Today, I take my eyes off man and look solely to You. I believe that with You, nothing is impossible. I speak to every spirit of lack, barrenness, sickness, and failure in my life and command it to go now in Jesus’ name! I decree a mighty turnaround. Create newness where there is nothing. Restore what has been lost. Let my life become a dream of joy and a testimony of Your power that will cause many to glorify Your name. I receive it by faith right now. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.”
Action Steps:
- Identify Your Captivity: Name the specific area of your life that needs a divine turnaround (e.g., financial debt, broken relationship, health issue, spiritual dryness).
- Shift Your Focus: Consciously stop relying on human aid alone. Make a quality decision to trust God completely for your solution.
- Decree and Declare: Use the authority of God’s Word (e.g., Psalm 126:1, Joel 2:25) to daily decree a turnaround over your situation. Speak to your “mountain.”
- Prepare for Testimony: Start acting and giving thanks as if the turnaround has already begun. The woman from Oyo prepared to give by faith before she had the cow.
- Share Your Story: When your turnaround comes, be sure to testify, just as the women in the devotional did, to encourage others and glorify God.
Remember: Your current situation is not your final destination. The same God who turned the captivity of Zion, who created a womb from nothing, and who provided a cow in two months is still alive. He specializes in making the impossible possible. Your moment of overwhelming, dream-like joy is coming. Believe it, declare it, and prepare to testify.
