TOPIC: HE SPEAKS PEACE I
MEMORISE:
I will hear what God the LORD will speak: for he will speak peace unto his people, and to his saints: but let them not turn again to folly.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 26 SEPTEMBER 2026 TODAY MESSAGE
After Jesus resurrected from the dead, He entered the room where His disciples had gathered because they were afraid and immediately told them, “Peace be unto you” (John 20.19).
In John 14:21. Jesus also said: Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
Jesus gives His followers peace because He is the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6) In Mark 4:35-41, the Bible tells us that Jesus and His disciples were in a ship, and a massive storm arose. While they were scared for their lives and were trying so hard to manage the situation, Jesus was sleeping peacefully. The moment they woke Him up, He issued only one decree, “Peace, be still,” and everything became calm.
In the name above every other name, I decree that the peace of God that passes all understanding will rest upon you at all times, in Jesus’ name.
Today’s memory verse tells us that God speaks peace to His people. It is important to understand that God is never the author of confusion or chaos (1 Corinthians 14:33).
Whenever you sense confusion or chaos around you, know that the devil is at work because James 3:14-16 says that where envying and strife are present (which are earthly, sensual, and devilish), there is confusion and every evil work. When the earth was in a state of chaos and darkness covered the face of the deep in Genesis 1:2, God’s word brought order to the situation.
Beloved, whenever you are in a state of confusion and chaos, cry out to God for help and listen to what He has to say to you. His Word will always bring peace and show you the way out of the situation. To receive the peace that the Prince of Peace gives, however, you must surrender your life to Him. People who insist on living on their own terms will not enjoy the peace of the Lord because His peace thrives only where His way is followed, and His will is done.
God wants to speak peace into any troubled water that might exist in your life. To enjoy His peace, however, you must never insist on calming any storm you may be facing your own way. Surrender to God totally, and His peace shall rule every facet of your life.

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 26 SEPTEMBER 2026 COMMENTARY
Today’s Open Heavens devotional, titled “He Speaks Peace I” addresses one of the most beautiful and essential promises available to every believer: divine peace. Grounded in Psalm 85:8 and Philippians 4:4-7.
It reminds us that our Heavenly Father is actively speaking peace to His people, and His peace is designed to guard our hearts and minds, regardless of how heavy the storms around us might be.
1. The Source of Perfect Peace
Pastor Adeboye reminds us that God is never the author of confusion or chaos. According to 1 Corinthians 14:33, confusion is completely foreign to God’s nature.
Whenever you sense confusion, strife, or overwhelming anxiety, Daddy points out that the devil is at work, because James 3:14-16 teaches us that envying and strife create confusion and every evil work. From the very beginning in Genesis 1:2, when the earth was in a state of darkness and chaos, it was God’s spoken word that brought perfect order and light.
2. The Storm and the Sovereign
To show us how Jesus manifests this peace, the devotional takes us to two key moments in the Gospels:
- The Locked Room of Fear: After the crucifixion, the disciples huddled in a room, paralyzed by fear. Jesus suddenly appeared in their midst and said, “Peace be unto you” (John 20:19). He gave them a peace that the world could never replicate (John 14:27).
- The Raging Sea: In Mark 4:35-41, while the disciples were screaming in terror and desperately trying to manage a violent storm, Jesus—the Prince of Peace—was sleeping peacefully in the ship. The moment they woke Him up, He issued a single, effortless decree: “Peace, be still,” and a great calm instantly fell.
Daddy shares a profound truth here: Jesus was able to sleep in the middle of a storm because He had absolute control. When you have the Prince of Peace on board your life, the storm outside cannot sink you.
3. The Condition for Divine Peace
However, the devotional delivers a loving but serious caution: God’s peace is not unconditional. The memory verse warns us “but let them not turn again to folly” (Psalm 85:8).
Daddy explains that people who insist on living on their own terms will never enjoy the peace of the Lord. His peace cannot thrive where rebellion, disobedience, or human stubbornness exists. Relating This to Your Everyday Life
It is incredibly easy to lose your peace in today’s fast-paced, high-pressure world. You might be facing a “storm” in your finances, a “chaos” in your workplace, or a “confusion” in a major family decision. When these challenges hit, our natural human instinct is to run around, stress, and try to fix things in our own strength.
But Daddy’s message teaches us that when we try to calm the storm our own way, we only end up exhausted and anxious. We must learn to hand the wheel over to Him.
To deepen our understanding of this divine rest, let us look at two scriptures not mentioned in the devotional:
- Isaiah 26:3: “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.” True peace is a product of focus. If you focus on the wind and the waves, you will sink; if you keep your eyes on Jesus, you will walk on water.
- Colossians 3:15: “And let the peace of God rule in your hearts…” The Greek word for “rule” here means to act as an umpire. If a decision or a relationship robs you of your inner peace, it is a warning sign that you might be stepping out of God’s perfect will.
A Life Example:
Imagine a parent who is constantly worried about their child’s future, staying up at night planning, controlling, and stressing. The atmosphere in the home becomes tense and filled with strife. This is trying to calm the storm in human strength. But when that parent sits down, prays Philippians 4:6-7, hands the child over to God, and says, “Lord, I trust Your plan,” a supernatural calm settles over their heart. The situation may not change overnight, but the anxiety is replaced by a deep assurance that God is in control.
Action Steps
- Stop the Self-Medication: Make a list of the situations you are currently trying to fix, manipulate, or resolve in your own strength. Consciously make a decision to surrender them to God.
- Cry Out and Listen: The next time a wave of confusion or worry hits you, do not vent, complain, or panic. Instead, find a quiet space, cry out to God, and spend time listening to His Word.
- Align with His Will: Check your lifestyle and decisions against God’s Word. Ensure that you are not walking in disobedience or “folly,” because God’s peace only flourishes where His ways are honored.
Prayer Points
- Father, I thank You with all my heart because You are the Prince of Peace, and I praise You because You are never the author of confusion or fear in my life.
- Lord Jesus, I surrender my life, my career, my family, and my choices completely to You; let Your will be done in every area of my existence.
- Father, let Your voice of power speak “Peace, be still” to every raging storm of financial difficulty, marital tension, or health challenges in my life today.
- Lord, deliver me from the temptation of trying to fight my battles or calm my storms in my own limited human strength; help me to rest in Your sovereignty.
- Father, let Your supernatural peace, which passes all human understanding, stand as a garrison to guard my heart and my mind against anxiety and depression, in Jesus’ name.
- Lord, deliver me from every form of spiritual folly and compromise; give me the grace to walk daily in Your ways so that Your peace can rule my life.
- Father, let every seed of confusion, envy, and strife sown by the enemy to disrupt my home and mind be completely uprooted and destroyed by the power of the Holy Spirit
