RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 27 OCTOBER 2025 TODAY MESSAGE
In my early years of being the General Overseer of RCCG, my wife came to me during one of our annual conventions and said, “To feed the people today, we need an extra 5,000 naira.” I asked her, “Darling, when do you need the money? Today or now?” She asked,
“What’s the difference?” I then told her that there is a lot of difference between today and now. She then replied, “We need the money today.” I told her, “In that case, you can go.
When I have the money, I will give it to you.” At the time she came, I didn’t have any money with me, but I knew that there is a God in heaven who is my hiding place. I can always run to Him when there is trouble.
When my wife left, I turned to my Lord, “The people have come. They are Your people, and You can’t allow them to starve.” Not long after, a man who was not a member of the church drove into the Redemption Camp (now Redemption City) and came to see me. He was just passing by and saw a large crowd coming into the camp. He was curious, so he asked,
“What is going on here?” I told him we were having our annual convention. He replied,
“Beautiful! Next year, I will be part of it.” He then put his hand in his pocket, brought out an envelope, and said, “In the meantime, let me support the church with this token.” I prayed for him, and he left. When I opened the envelope, I saw that it contained 1,000 naira. I said to myself, “Thank God. We have 1,000 naira down and 4,000 naira to go.” Shortly after, the leaders of the youths in the church came to me in the office and gave me an envelope. I prayed for them, and they left. I opened the envelope, and it contained 2,000 naira. Not long after, I sent for my wife and gave her the 5,000 naira she had earlier requested because God miraculously provided another 2,000 naira.
In Psalm 61, the Psalmist cried that God should lead him to a rock higher than him. God’s word is the rock that hides us from trouble and shame. Beloved, you can never be stranded when you put your hope in God’s word. When you put your total trust in His word, He will hide you in His secret place and ensure you are never put to shame.
KEY POINT
Father, please hide me in Your secret place. Let me not be put to shame, in Jesus’ name.

HYMN 19: ROCK OF AGES CLEFT FOR ME
OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 27 OCTOBER 2025 COMMENTARY
MEMORISE: Psalm 119:114
“Thou art my hiding place and my shield: I hope in thy word.”
This verse presents a powerful twofold assurance: God is both a hiding place (a secret refuge of safety) and a shield (an active defender in battle). The key to accessing both is placing our hope not in circumstances, but in the unwavering truth of His Word.
BIBLE READING: Psalms 32:6-7
This passage describes the security of those who trust in the Lord:
v. 6: “For this shall every one that is godly pray unto thee in a time when thou mayest be found: surely in the floods of great waters they shall not come nigh unto him.”
v. 7: “Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah.”
God’s protection is both a place of retreat and a surrounding force of deliverance.
The Secret Place of Provision
Pastor E.A. Adeboye shares a profound personal testimony that illustrates a critical kingdom principle: God is a very present help and a reliable hiding place in times of need. The story demonstrates that financial or material lack is not a problem for God; it is an opportunity for Him to reveal Himself as Jehovah Jireh, the Provider.
The Theology of the Hiding Place
- A Place of Safety: A hiding place is a location of concealment from threat or danger. In God, we are hidden from the shame of lack, the anxiety of uncertainty, and the attacks of the enemy (Colossians 3:3).
- A Place of Supply: As the testimony shows, God’s hiding place is not just about protection fromsomething, but provision in the midst of something. It is the place where needs are met supernaturally.
- Accessed by Hope in His Word: Our entry into this hiding place is through faith in God’s promises. We must believe that what He has said in His Word about His provision (e.g., Philippians 4:19) is true for our specific situation.
Key Lessons from the Testimony
- Distinguish Between ‘Today’ and ‘Now’:
Daddy Adeboye’s question highlights the difference between a deadline and a panic. Faith gives God room to work within His own timetable (“today”) without succumbing to the pressure of immediate desperation (“now”). - The Burden Belongs to the Lord:
The powerful prayer, “The people have come. They are Your people…” reflects a core understanding: God is responsible for His work. When we are doing His will, His resources are available for His assignments. - Provision Often Comes Through Unlikely Sources:
God used a curious stranger and youth leaders—not a planned offering—to meet the need. He is not limited to conventional methods and often provides in unexpected ways to increase our faith. - The Principle of Progressive Provision:
God provided the N5,000 in separate installments (N1,000 + N2,000 + N2,000). This teaches us to thank Him for what He provides when He provides it, trusting that He will complete the work.
How to Run to Your Hiding Place
1. Identify the Need:
Clearly define what you need, as Sister Foluke Adeboye did. Take it to the Lord in prayer.
2. Transfer the Burden:
Verbally release the problem to God. Remind Him (and yourself) that it is His work and His responsibility. Cast your care upon Him (1 Peter 5:7).
3. Stand on His Word:
Anchor your hope in specific promises from Scripture regarding God’s provision and protection (e.g., Psalm 23:1, Matthew 6:33).
4. Watch with Expectation:
Be expectant and attentive to how God might move. His solutions will often be creative and timely.
5. Give Thanks for Every Step:
Acknowledge and thank God for every sign of His provision, no matter how small it may seem. This builds faith for the complete answer.
Conclusion: You Are Never Stranded
Pray this:
“My Father and my Hiding Place, I thank You that You are my refuge and my shield. Today, I bring my need for [mention your specific need] before You. I release the burden and the timing into Your hands. I place my hope in Your Word that promises to supply all my needs according to Your riches in glory. I hide myself in You now, trusting that You will preserve me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance. Thank You for being my provider. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
Action Steps:
- Scripture Meditation: Memorize and meditate on Psalm 119:114 and Psalm 32:7.
- Need List: Write down a specific need and a corresponding Bible promise. Pray over it daily.
- Thanksgiving Journal: Start a journal to record every instance of God’s provision, big or small.
- Testify: Share your testimony of God’s provision with someone to strengthen their faith.
Remember: When you are in God’s hiding place, the “floods of great waters” of lack and trouble cannot come near you. Your part is to hope in His Word; His part is to be your hiding place.
“Thou art my hiding place and my shield: I hope in thy word.” (Psalm 119:114). Run to your hiding place today.
