OPEN HEAVEN 28 NOVEMBER 2025 TODAY DEVOTIONAL

TOPIC: PRAISE AND WORSHIP

MEMORISE:
But as for me, I will come into thy house in the multitude of thy mercy: and in thy fear will I worship toward thy holy temple.
Psalms 5:7

READ: 2 Chronicles 1:6-13:
6 And Solomon went up thither to the brasen altar before the Lord, which was at the tabernacle of the congregation, and offered a thousand burnt offerings upon it.
7 In that night did God appear unto Solomon, and said unto him, Ask what I shall give thee.
8 And Solomon said unto God, Thou hast shewed great mercy unto David my father, and hast made me to reign in his stead.
9 Now, O Lord God, let thy promise unto David my father be established: for thou hast made me king over a people like the dust of the earth in multitude.
10 Give me now wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people: for who can judge this thy people, that is so great?

11 And God said to Solomon, Because this was in thine heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, or honour, nor the life of thine enemies, neither yet hast asked long life; but hast asked wisdom and knowledge for thyself, that thou mayest judge my people, over whom I have made thee king:
12 Wisdom and knowledge is granted unto thee; and I will give thee riches, and wealth, and honour, such as none of the kings have had that have been before thee, neither shall there any after thee have the like.
13 Then Solomon came from his journey to the high place that was at Gibeon to Jerusalem, from before the tabernacle of the congregation, and reigned over Israel.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 28 NOVEMBER 2025 TODAY MESSAGE

Some Christians get to church services late because they only start getting dressed to go to church when the praise and worship session must have started.

They believe that the sermon is the main service; however, this is not true. Worship is actually the major part of the service, which is why a church service is often called a ‘worship service’

Psalm 22:3 says that God inhabits the praises of Israel. Right from the beginning of a church service, God is already moving. Christians who understand this always go to church early because they know that while the praise and worship session is going on, they can hear from God and receive an impartation from Him.

It is unfortunate that many ministers of God do not take praise and worship sessions seriously. When the choir is singing choruses and praising God, many pastors are still sitting in their offices, writing letters and giving instructions because they feel that the main part of the service has not started.

By the time they get on the pulpit, the service is almost over because a major part of the service is the praise and worship session. If you worship God well enough, you will see Him in action.

When believers know that they can do nothing without God (John 15:5), they will not miss praise and worship sessions for anything. In today’s Bible reading, the Bible tells us that Solomon worshipped God by offering a thousand burnt offerings to Him. It was an act of worship, the kind that the people around him had never seen before.

That night, God paid him a visit and told him to ask for anything he wanted. Solomon asked for wisdom and knowledge so that he could serve God the way he ought to, and the Bible says that God granted him his request and added other blessings. The Bible also says that before him, there was no one like him, and after him, there will never be anyone like him (2 Chronicles 1:12).

Beloved, make it a duty to never miss any opportunity to worship God by dancing and singing praises to His name, especially during church services. If you sing and dance for Him regularly, He will set you apart for greatness.

However, if you feel you are too big to dance before Him or worship and give Him thanks, He will also see you as being too big to be carried to the top.

KEY POINT

The praise and worship session is a major part of any church service.

HYMN 18: PRAISE TO THE LORD THE ALMIGHTY

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 28 NOVEMBER 2025 COMMENTARY

MEMORISE: Psalms 5:7 (KJV)
“But as for me, I will come into thy house in the multitude of thy mercy: and in thy fear will I worship toward thy holy temple.”
This verse captures the posture of a true worshipper: one who enters God’s presence conscious of two things—their own dependence on God’s great mercy and a reverent fear of His holiness. It is this combination that fuels authentic, God-honoring worship.

BIBLE READING: 2 Chronicles 1:6-13
This passage reveals the direct link between extravagant worship and divine visitation and blessing:

  • v. 6: Solomon initiates contact with God through worship, offering a thousand burnt offerings—a massive, costly, and total sacrifice.
  • v. 7: That same night, God appears to Solomon in a dream, initiating a conversation as a direct response to the worship.
  • v. 8-12: God offers a blank cheque: “Ask what I shall give thee.” Solomon’s request for wisdom to lead God’s people pleases the Lord, who grants it and adds unparalleled riches and honor.
  • v. 12: The result is a unique, unmatched legacy: “there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee.”

The Throne Room Key: Why Worship is the Main Service

Pastor E.A. Adeboye addresses a common but critical error in the modern church: the treatment of praise and worship as a preliminary event to the “main” sermon. He powerfully repositions worship as the central, non-negotiable activity that invites God’s manifest presence, which in turn makes the preaching of His word effective and transformative.

1. The Misplaced Priority: Sermon-Centric Services

The Error of Tardiness and Neglect:
Many believers and even ministers operate under the misconception that the sermon is the primary reason for gathering. This leads to late arrivals and pastors who are still occupied with administrative tasks during worship. This mindset effectively treats the invitation for God to inhabit our midst as an optional prelude.

Worship is the “Main Thing”:
Daddy Adeboye corrects this by stating plainly that “worship is actually the major part of the service.” The term “worship service” itself defines the gathering. The sermon is meant to be a word delivered from God’s presence, not a lecture delivered in God’s general vicinity.

2. The Power of a Worshipful Atmosphere

God Inhabits Praise:
The foundational truth from Psalm 22:3 is that God is enthroned on, or inhabits, the praises of His people. This means that during genuine, corporate worship, God’s manifest presence becomes tangibly active in a unique way. He is “moving” from the very beginning.

The Privilege of Early Participation:
Believers who understand this are eager to be present for worship. They know it is a time of divine impartation, personal hearing from God, and spiritual alignment. They are not just waiting for the preacher; they are coming to meet with the King.

3. The Solomon Principle: Worship Precedes the Word

Extravagant Worship Triggers Divine Visitation:
Solomon’s thousand offerings were an act of worship so significant it compelled a response from heaven. God did not speak until the worship was completed. This establishes a pattern: wholehearted worship often precedes a definitive word from God.

The Reward of a Worshipful Heart:
Solomon’s request, born out of a heart postured in worship, was for wisdom to serve God’s people. Because his worship was pure and his request was selfless, God granted it and added unprecedented blessings. Worship positions us to ask rightly and receive abundantly.

How to Re-Prioritize Worship in Your Life

1. Cultivate a Habit of Early and Eager Attendance:
See the praise and worship session not as a warm-up act, but as your personal audience with the King of kings. Plan to be in God’s house early, ready to engage from the first note.

2. Engage with Your Whole Heart:
Do not let pride or self-consciousness hinder you. “Dance and sing praises to His name.” God is not looking for perfect pitch but for a surrendered heart. Your wholehearted engagement is an act of humility that qualifies you for His lifting up.

3. Prepare to Worship as You Prepare to Preach:
For ministers, this is a direct charge from Daddy Adeboye. The preparation for service should include preparing your own heart to worship. Be in the sanctuary, leading the congregation not just in song, but in spirit and in truth.

Warning: The Pride of a Non-Worshipping Heart
The devotional ends with a sobering warning: “If you feel you are too big to dance before Him… He will also see you as being too big to be carried to the top.” A refusal to worship is a declaration of self-sufficiency. God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble (James 4:6). A lack of worshipful humility can stagnate a destiny.

Conclusion: Positioning Yourself for Visitation

Pray this:
“Lord, forgive me for every time I have treated Your worship as secondary. Give me a revelation of Your worthiness and a hunger for Your presence. I choose to humble myself before You. I will come early and engage fully in praising You, believing that as I worship in spirit and in truth, You will inhabit my praise, speak to my heart, and set me apart for the greatness You have ordained, in Jesus’ name.”

Action Steps:

  • Commit to Being Early: For the next month, make it a goal to be in your seat 15 minutes before the service begins, ready to worship.
  • Study the Worshippers: Read about David (2 Samuel 6:14-22), the woman with the alabaster box (Matthew 26:6-13), and the 24 elders (Revelation 4:9-11). Let their examples inspire your own worship.
  • Lead by Example: If you are in any form of leadership, ensure you are visibly and wholeheartedly participating in corporate worship, setting a standard for others to follow.

Remember: The sermon informs the mind, but worship prepares the heart to receive from God. A church service without true worship is a gathering without the Guest of Honor.

“God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” (John 4:24). This is the core of the service.
