OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 30 MARCH 2025 MESSAGE

Typically, children tend to respect and even fear their fathers more than their mothers because men are generally considered stronger and sterner. A mother may not be as physically strong as a father, but she has immense strength in other areas.

I usually say that I am where I am today because of God’s grace and my mother’s prayers. Whenever I did something that impressed her, she would say, “You will call one fellow, and 100 will answer.” What she meant was, ‘You will be very influential.’ Today, God has blessed me with great influence over many people across the world. When a mother is happy with a child, whatever she deeply desires and prays over the child will come to pass.

Beloved, Ephesians 6:2-3 instructs you to honour your father and mother (not just your father alone) so that you can enjoy tremendous blessings. These days, many children don’t even pick up their parents’ calls.

If you have parents, you must be intentional about honouring them because it is a prerequisite for God’s blessings and long life.

When I was younger, my mother would instruct me to stay back at home to study while other children in the neighbourhood were out playing. Thank God I obeyed her.

Studying my books helped me to ignore many distractions and achieve great things in life. In appreciation, I took good care of her before she passed away. I made sure that I saw her at least once every two weeks so that she wouldn’t miss me so much. If your mother is still alive, or if you have mother figures in your life, ensure that you always honour them by being obedient and caring towards them.

If you are a mother, your role in deciding your children’s future is very important. You must ensure that they are disciplined and focused on fulfilling God’s will for their lives. Don’t pamper them; train them diligently. Don’t prioritise making money or partying over spending quality time with them. Also, be willing to make sacrifices to help them grow up in wisdom, strength, and the way of the Lord.

I pray that God will bless all mothers with the strength and courage to nurture their children the right way. If you’re married and are seeking God’s face for the fruit of the womb, I decree that by this time next year, you will be carrying your baby, in Jesus’ name.

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 30 MARCH 2025 COMMENTARY

1. The Unique Strength of a Mother’s Influence

The Open Heaven devotional for today begins by contrasting parental roles:

  • Fathers often command respect through strength and sternness.
  • Mothers wield spiritual and emotional strength—especially through prayer and prophetic words.

Personal Testimony (Daddy Adeboye’s Story):

  • His mother’s declaration: “You will call one fellow, and 100 will answer” shaped his global influence.
  • Principle: A mother’s words carry divine weight when aligned with God’s will (Proverbs 18:21).

Biblical Examples:

  • Hannah (1 Samuel 1:27-28): Prayed Samuel into destiny.
  • Mary (John 2:5): Her counsel prompted Jesus’ first miracle.

Application:
✔ Mothers: Speak life over your children (e.g., “You will serve God mightily!”).
✔ Children: Treasure your mother’s prayers and wisdom.

2. The Command to Honor Parents

Ephesians 6:2-3 ties long life and prosperity to honoring both parents. The devotional laments modern trends:

  • Disrespect: Ignoring parents’ calls or needs.
  • Disobedience: Rejecting their guidance (like Adeboye’s childhood peers who prioritized play over study).

Warning:

  • Dishonoring parents invites curses (Proverbs 20:20) and missed blessings (Malachi 4:6).

Action Steps:
✔ Call/visit parents regularly (1 Timothy 5:4).
✔ Fulfill Proverbs 23:22: “Listen to your father who begot you, and do not despise your mother when she is old.”

3. A Mother’s Sacred Responsibility

Today’s Open Heaven devotional charges mothers to:

  1. Prioritize Discipline Over Pampering
    • “Train up a child…” (Proverbs 22:6) requires correction (Hebrews 12:11).
  2. Sacrifice for Spiritual Growth
    • Like Moses’ mother (Exodus 2:1-10), invest time over money.
  3. Model Godliness
    • Lois and Eunice (2 Timothy 1:5) passed faith to Timothy.

To Mothers:
“Your tears, prayers, and tough love shape destinies. Don’t grow weary!”

4. Prophetic Declarations for Families

  1. For Mothers:
    • “God will strengthen you to raise godly children” (Isaiah 40:29).
  2. For Children:
    • “Your obedience unlocks generational blessings” (Deuteronomy 5:16).
  3. For Barren Women:
    • “By next year, you will hold your baby” (Psalm 113:9).

Prayer:
“Lord, make me a channel of Your love and truth in my family. Heal broken parent-child relationships today!”

Final Thought: Mothers Are Kingdom Builders

Deborah (Judges 5:7) arose as a “mother in Israel” to deliver a nation. Likewise:

  • Your prayers can shift nations.
  • Your children are your greatest legacy.

“The hand that rocks the cradle rules the world.”

Call to Action:

  1. Mothers: Pray fervently for your children’s destiny.
  2. Children: Write a gratitude letter or send a gift to your mom this week.
  3. All: Repent for dishonoring parents; restore broken bonds.

“A godly mother’s influence outlives her—nurture it prayerfully!”
