RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 8 FEBRUARY 2026 MESSAGE TODAY
James 4:7 says clearly that you should submit yourself unto God, then resist the devil, and he will flee from you. The devil cannot flee from you if you have not submitted totally to God. If you are not yet born again, Jesus Christ, the Light, wants to come into your life. He wants to give you a brand-new beginning, but He will not force Himself into your heart unless you open the door to Him voluntarily.
He said in today’s Bible reading that He is knocking on the door of your heart, and if you open up to Him, He will come in. If He keeps knocking on a person’s heart and the person keeps refusing to open, a day will come when it will be too late for the person to open his or her heart to Him again.
On that day, the person’s heart will stop beating, and if Jesus is not already in it by then, no matter how much the person pleads, such a person will find himself or herself in hell, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. This is why I am appealing to you to open up your heart to Him now if you haven’t done so yet.
Many people claim to have accepted Jesus as their Lord and Saviour, but they haven’t truly submitted to Him as certain aspects of their lives are still ordered by their flesh.
Many of such people go to church, while some are even church workers and ministers, but they are really not different from people in the world. When a person truly submits to the Lordship of Jesus, He becomes the supreme authority over such a fellow’s life. Whatever He says is what the fellow must do.
Jesus is the Light, and He is the only one who can drive darkness out of a person’s life. Darkness is sure to reign supreme in the lives of those who haven’t opened up their hearts to Jesus, even if they claim to be Christians. When darkness reigns in a person’s life, failure, defeat, sorrow, retrogression, and every evil thing will fill such a fellow’s life. Can you truly say that Jesus, the Light, is in total control of your life?
Beloved, if you are yet to truly submit to Jesus Christ, He is knocking at the door of your heart.
Open your heart to Him today, and He will give you a glorious hope for the future (1 Peter 1:3-5).
REFLECTION:
Have you truly opened up to Jesus Christ, and is He in total control of your life?

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 8 FEBRUARY 2026 COMMENTARY
MEMORISE: 2 Corinthians 6:2
“(For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)”
This verse underlines the critical urgency of the devotional’s message. Salvation is not a distant event; it is a present-day opportunity. “Now” is the God-appointed moment to respond. To delay is to risk moving from the “accepted time” into a time of tragic rejection. The call to open your heart is a matter of eternal consequence, and its timeframe is immediate.
BIBLE READING: Revelation 3:20-22
This scripture presents the gracious but solemn plea of Christ. He stands at the door of the human heart—a place of intimacy and control. He knocks with persistence, but He does not force entry. The promise is glorious: fellowship, shared authority, and victory. Yet, the initiative rests entirely with the individual: “if any man hear my voice, and open the door.” The throne is promised only to the one who first grants Christ the throne of their heart.
The Non-Negotiable Sequence for Victory
Daddy Adeboye begins by grounding the message in the unchangeable spiritual law of James 4:7: “Submit yourselves… then resist.” This order is absolute.
- You cannot resist a devil you are still obeying. Any attempt at spiritual warfare without prior total submission to God is an exercise in futility and will end in defeat. True, lasting deliverance from darkness (failure, sorrow, retrogression) begins not with a command shouted at the devil, but with a knee bent to Jesus.
The Gracious Knock and the Eternal Deadline
The core of the message is an exposition of Revelation 3:20, framed as a matter of life and death.
- The Present Invitation: Jesus is currently knocking. His desire is to enter, to bring light, and to give a “brand-new beginning” (2 Corinthians 5:17). This is the essence of being “born again”—not a religious reform, but a new creation initiated by His indwelling presence.
- The Voluntary Door: He will not “force Himself.” God created humanity with free will and honors it, even at the cost of the Cross. Salvation must be personally, voluntarily received.
- The Sobering Warning: The knock is not perpetual. Daddy Adeboye delivers a pastor’s urgent, loving warning: “a day will come when it will be too late.” That day is the end of earthly life. The imagery of the heart stopping beating is a stark reminder of mortality. A heart closed to Christ in life will be closed to heaven in death, resulting in eternal separation from God (“hell…weeping and gnashing of teeth”). This is why the appeal is to act “now.”
The Illusion of Submission vs. The Reality of Lordship
A critical distinction is made between cultural Christianity and true conversion.
- The Claim Without Submission: Many claim Jesus as “Lord and Saviour” but live with aspects of their life—finances, relationships, secret habits, ambitions—”ordered by their flesh.” They may be active in church, even in ministry, but remain indistinguishable from the world in their core values and choices. This is a state of profound self-deception.
- The Proof of True Submission: When Jesus is truly Lord, “He becomes the supreme authority.”His Word is the final command. His will is the only agenda. This isn’t perfection, but it is a settled orientation of the heart where surrender is the default response.
Light vs. Darkness: The Ultimate Control Question
The metaphor is clear and binary:
- Jesus = Light. Where He dwells, He illuminates truth, exposes sin, guides paths, and produces the fruit of righteousness.
- Rejection of Jesus = Darkness. Where He is absent, “darkness reigns supreme.” This darkness is not mere ignorance; it is an active force that manifests as “failure, defeat, sorrow, retrogression, and every evil thing.”
The piercing question is posed: “Can you truly say that Jesus, the Light, is in total control of your life?” This self-audit is the most important one can conduct. It moves the message from a general altar call to a personal spiritual examination.
The Glorious Alternative: A Heart Opened Today
The closing appeal is both a warning and a magnificent promise. For the one who responds today—in this “accepted time”—the outcome is not just escape from hell, but the reception of a “glorious hope for the future” (1 Peter 1:3-5). This is a living hope, an incorruptible inheritance, and divine protection for salvation ready to be revealed.
How to Respond: Opening the Door
This is not a passive process. To “open the heart” means:
- Acknowledge Your State: Admit that you have been living with the door closed, in control of your own life, resulting in areas of darkness.
- Express Repentance: Turn away from self-rule and sin (the things that “order your flesh”).
- Voice Your Surrender: Verbally and sincerely invite Jesus Christ to enter your life. Acknowledge His death for your sins and His resurrection for your life. Surrender the throne of your heart to Him as your Supreme Authority—your Lord.
- Live Under New Management: Begin a daily practice of seeking His will in His Word and obeying His promptings. This is the evidence that the door has truly been opened from the inside.
Final Prayer of Response:
“Lord Jesus, I hear You knocking at the door of my heart. I confess I have kept You out. I acknowledge my need for Your light. I repent of my self-rule and sin. Right now, I open the door of my heart and life fully to You. Come in, Lord Jesus. Be my Saviour and my Supreme Lord. Take total control. Fill me with Your light and give me the glorious hope only You can provide. I surrender to You now. Thank You for hearing me and coming in. In Your name I pray, Amen.”
