This is a daily devotion written by Pastor E. A. Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).

OPEN HEAVEN 8 NOVEMBER 2025 TODAY DEVOTIONAL
TOPIC: HE SHALL TEACH YOU ALL THINGS
MEMORISE:
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
John 14:26
READ: 1 Corinthians 2:6-16:
6 Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought:
7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:
8 Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.
12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
15 But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.
16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? but we have the mind of Christ.
RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 8 NOVEMBER 2025 TODAY MESSAGE
The Holy Spirit is a teacher. In today’s memory verse, Jesus said that the Holy Spirit will teach you all things. When you are intimate with the Holy Spirit, He will cause you to be enlightened beyond your level of education. You might read the same materials that other people read, but the knowledge and insights you will get from those same materials will be far more than what they get.
When you study your Bible, the Holy Spirit will illuminate the word of God to you beyond your level of intelligence. Many ministers find it difficult to retain their members because they are unable to feed them with the real word of God. In some cases, by the time some of these ministers are halfway through reading the Bible text for their sermons, their members already know what they will say, how they will start, and how they will end.
The only way you can get something new from the word of God every day is when the Holy Spirit teaches you Himself. He is the only One who is capable of giving you fresh revelation from the Scriptures daily.
When I study the Bible, I usually read a chapter, then I ask the Holy Spirit which verse we will dwell on out of the entire passage. He will often show me the verse, and then I will ask Him to teach me from that verse, and He will.
However, one day, I was reading Matthew 10, and after I read verse 1, and while reading verse 2, He said to me, “Stop. We are going to discuss verse 2 today.” | looked at the verse:
“Now the names of the twelve apostles are these…..”
I couldn’t imagine how there could be something to learn from that verse, so I said, “Lord, I can’t see anything to dwell on here.” He told me, “Read it again.” I read it again and again. By the time I was reading it the third time, light had broken out, and I had begun to see what the Holy Spirit wanted me to see. I will discuss what the Holy Spirit showed me in Matthew 10:2 tomorrow because I can write an entire book from that verse alone now.
Beloved, if you want to become smarter and more intelligent every day, you need to get more intimate with the Holy Spirit. He will teach you so well that even you will be amazed by how knowledgeable and wise you will become.
KEY POINT
The Holy Spirit teaches us and illuminates our hearts when we become intimate with Him.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR
John 16-17
HYMN 3: ANCIENT WORDS
OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 8 NOVEMBER 2025 COMMENTARY
MEMORISE: John 14:26 (KJV)
“But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.”
This verse establishes the Holy Spirit’s primary role as a divine Educator sent in Jesus’s name. His teaching is not limited to information recall but encompasses spiritual understanding, practical application, and the supernatural illumination of Christ’s words, leading to comprehensive wisdom.
BIBLE READING: 1 Corinthians 2:6-16
This passage contrasts human wisdom with Spirit-revealed knowledge:
- v. 6-8: The wisdom of this age is futile and cannot comprehend God’s wisdom, which is hidden in a mystery.
- v. 9-10: What human senses cannot perceive, God has revealed to us through His Spirit, who searches the deep things of God.
- v. 11-13: Only the Spirit of God knows the thoughts of God, and He teaches spiritual truths to spiritual people, combining spiritual thoughts with spiritual words.
- v. 14-16: The natural man cannot receive this teaching, but the spiritual person has access to the mind of Christ.
The Divine Tutor: Learning at the Feet of the Holy Spirit
Pastor E.A. Adeboye continues his deep dive into the ministry of the Holy Spirit by focusing on His role as our Teacher. He moves from the power for exploits to the revelation that fuels effective ministry and a dynamic Christian life. The devotional makes it clear that without the Holy Spirit’s instruction, our study remains academic, but with Him, it becomes a transformative, revelatory encounter.
1. The Superiority of Spirit-Led Learning
Enlightenment Beyond Education:
Daddy Adeboye emphasizes a crucial truth: the Holy Spirit’s teaching transcends our natural intellectual capacity. A person with limited formal education, led by the Spirit, can possess deeper spiritual insight than a learned theologian who relies solely on human reason. This levels the playing field and makes divine wisdom accessible to all who are intimate with Him.
The Antidote to Spiritual Stagnation:
Many churches suffer from member retention issues because the preaching is predictable and lacks revelatory freshness. When a minister depends on sermon outlines and commentaries without the Spirit’s illumination, the congregation is fed recycled human wisdom, not the living and active word of God (Hebrews 4:12).
2. The Process of Spirit-Led Revelation
The Dialogue of Study:
Daddy Adeboye provides a transparent look into his personal study method, which is a model for every believer. He doesn’t just read the Bible; he engages in a dialogue with the Holy Spirit. This process involves:
- Reading: Presenting himself to the Word.
- Asking: Inquiring which specific portion to focus on.
- Listening: Waiting for the Spirit’s direction.
- Receiving: Allowing the Spirit to unpack the verse.
Finding Gold in “Barren” Verses:
The testimony of Matthew 10:2 is profound. A verse that appears to be a simple list of names became a fountain of revelation. This demonstrates that all Scripture is God-breathed and profitable (2 Timothy 3:16), but it requires the Holy Spirit to breathe on it for us to perceive its profit. He can mine infinite wisdom from what seems to be the most mundane passages.
3. The Result of Divine Tutelage
Ever-Increasing Wisdom and Knowledge:
The promise for those who sit under the Holy Spirit’s teaching is continuous intellectual and spiritual growth. You become “smarter and more intelligent” in the things of God, often to your own amazement. This is the fulfillment of Jeremiah 3:15, where God gives us pastors after His own heart who will feed us with knowledge and understanding—a ministry ultimately fulfilled by the Holy Spirit Himself.
A Life of Fresh Daily Bread:
Manna in the wilderness was fresh daily (Exodus 16:21). Likewise, the Holy Spirit ensures that our spiritual nourishment from God’s Word is not stale. He provides a “fresh revelation daily,” preventing our faith from becoming routine and keeping our relationship with God vibrant and current.
How to Be Taught by the Holy Spirit
1. Approach Study with a Posture of Dependency:
Begin your Bible study with a prayer of invitation. A simple prayer like, “Holy Spirit, my Teacher, open my eyes to see wondrous things out of Your law (Psalm 119:18). What are You saying to me today?” changes the dynamic from a human task to a divine encounter.
2. Cultivate Patience and Expectancy:
Do not rush through your reading. Like Daddy Adeboye with Matthew 10:2, be willing to read and re-read a passage, waiting for the “light to break out.” Revelation often comes to a patient and expectant heart.
3. Obey What You Learn:
The goal of the Holy Spirit’s teaching is not just information but transformation (James 1:22). When He reveals a truth or convicts you of an action, immediate obedience prepares your heart to receive even more revelation.
Warning: The Dryness of Academic-Only Study
Relying solely on lexicons, commentaries, and human scholarship without the illuminating work of the Holy Spirit leads to a dry, intellectual faith that lacks power and life. It produces ministers who can dissect the Word but cannot manifest its power, and congregations that are informed but not transformed.
Conclusion: Your Access to the Mind of Christ
Pray this:
“Holy Spirit, my Divine Teacher, I acknowledge my dependence on You. I lay down my reliance on my own understanding. As I open Your Word, illuminate it to my heart. Teach me, guide me into all truth, and bring to my remembrance everything that Jesus has said. Give me fresh bread from heaven today and make me a vessel of Your wisdom, in Jesus’ name.”
Action Steps:
- Implement the Dialogue Method: In your next Bible study session, consciously practice the “Read, Ask, Listen, Receive” method outlined by Daddy Adeboye.
- Journal Your Revelations: Keep a notebook dedicated to insights the Holy Spirit gives you during your study. This will build your faith and become a valuable spiritual resource.
- Testify to the Wisdom: Share the insights you receive with a fellow believer. This reinforces the lesson in your own heart and encourages others to seek the Spirit as their Teacher.
Remember: You have been given the Spirit of God so that you may understand the things freely given to you by God (1 Corinthians 2:12). You are not designed to figure out the Bible on your own.
“But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things…” (1 John 2:27). This is your privilege in Christ.
