    TOPIC: HAVE YOU ENCOUNTERED JESUS?

    MEMORISE:

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
    John 1:1

    READ: Acts 9:1-6

1 And Saul, yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went unto the high priest,
2 And desired of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any of this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound unto Jerusalem.
3 And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven:
4 And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?

5 And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.
6 And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 22 SEPTEMBER 2025 TODAY MESSAGE

One can easily assume that everyone who attends church regularly or functions in a department within a church has encountered Jesus. However, in my experience, I have realised that many people are working hard in the Lord’s vineyard but haven’t had an encounter with Him. They know a lot about Him, but they don’t know Him.

Paul thought he knew God until the day he had an encounter with Jesus Christ. When you truly meet Jesus, you will become a completely new person. Before Paul met Jesus, he persecuted believers. However, when he met Him, his story changed.

In 1 Timothy 1:13-16, he spoke about his horrible past as a blasphemer, a persecutor, and an injurious person, and how he obtained mercy from God. In Christ, he became a Chief Apostle (2 Corinthians 11:5) and fulfilled his destiny (2 Timothy 4:6- 7).

Peter was just another fisherman from Galilee before he met Jesus. However, when he met Jesus, he was given a glorious destiny (Luke 5:10). Even when he failed and denied Jesus, his future was still secure because of his encounter with Jesus. When a man meets Jesus, his failures and weaknesses become part of his success story because God works all things together for his good (Romans 8:28).

Isaiah thought he knew God until he had an encounter in Isaiah 6 that changed his life.

When he saw the Lord in His glory, he fell on his face and cried, “… Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts” (Isaiah 6:5). After meeting the Lord, Isaiah was willing to go wherever the Lord sent Him. When you truly meet Jesus, all your excuses will be burnt away like chaff.

Beloved, if you genuinely want to meet Jesus, make it mandatory for yourself to study God’s word every day. Revelation 19:13 says that He is the Word of God. When you study the word of God, you are fellowshipping with Jesus Christ. The more of God’s word you study, the closer you will get to Him. It will be difficult at first because the devil will try to stop you, but as you keep at it, you will discover that you are being transformed because you are getting to know the Son of God for yourself.

    PRAYER POINT

Lord Jesus, please reveal yourself to me in Your word. I want to know You more and follow You for the rest of my life.

    BIBLE IN ONE YEAR

    Micah 1-4

    HYMN 2: AMAZING GRACE

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 22 SEPTEMBER 2025 COMMENTARY

    MEMORISE: John 1:1 (KJV)
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
This profound verse establishes the eternal, divine nature of Jesus Christ. He is not a created being; He is God Himself. He is identified as “the Word” (Greek: Logos)—the ultimate expression, communication, and revelation of the Father’s heart, mind, and character to humanity.

    BIBLE READING: Acts 9:1-6 (KJV)
This passage details the dramatic conversion of Saul of Tarsus on the road to Damascus. It is the quintessential example of a life radically transformed by a personal encounter with the risen Christ. Saul, a fervent persecutor of the church, was confronted by a blinding light and the audible voice of Jesus. This encounter instantly shattered his religious assumptions and set him on a new path to become Paul the Apostle.

The Crisis of the Unencountered Christian

Daddy Adeboye begins with a sobering and critical observation: many people are active in church activities but have never had a genuine, life-altering encounter with Jesus Christ. They know about Him through sermons, songs, and sermons, but they do not know Him personally. This is the difference between religion and relationship, between head knowledge and heart transformation.

The Transformative Power of a True Encounter

The devotional uses three powerful biblical examples to illustrate what a true encounter produces:

    1. Paul (Acts 9): His encounter led to a complete identity shift—from persecutor to apostle. It brought a deep awareness of sin and a profound experience of mercy (1 Timothy 1:13-16). His past became a testimony of grace rather than a source of shame.
    2. Peter (Luke 5:1-11): His encounter redefined his purpose—from fisherman to “fisher of men.” Even his subsequent failure (denying Christ) could not cancel his destiny because it was secured by the encounter. His weakness was woven into his success story (Romans 8:28).
    3. Isaiah (Isaiah 6): His encounter in the temple was one of overwhelming holiness. It didn’t make him proud; it shattered him, revealing his own sinfulness and unworthiness (“Woe is me! I am undone!”). This brokenness was the prerequisite for his commissioning (“Here am I; send me”).

    The Common Thread: Heart Transformation

In each case, the encounter resulted in:

    • Awareness of Sin: A deep, personal conviction of one’s own state before a holy God.
    • Surrender of Will: A abandonment of personal plans and excuses, replaced by a willingness to go wherever God sends.
    • A New Identity and Purpose: A fundamental reordering of life’s priorities around God’s calling.

The Pathway to Encounter: Fellowship with the Word

The devotional provides the clear, practical pathway to encountering Jesus: consistent, mandatory study of God’s Word. The logic is impeccable based on John 1:1 and Revelation 19:13:

    • Jesus is the Word.
    • Therefore, to engage with the Word is to engage with Jesus.
    • Studying the Bible is not a religious duty; it is “fellowshipping with Jesus Christ.”

This is how intellectual knowledge about God becomes a heart knowledge of God. As we immerse ourselves in the Scriptures, the Holy Spirit makes the written word a living word, and we hear the voice of the Author speaking directly to our hearts.

    The Battle and The Reward

The message is honest about the process: “It will be difficult at first because the devil will try to stop you.” The enemy fears nothing more than a believer who is moving from casual acquaintance to intimate encounter with Christ. However, the reward is promised: “as you keep at it, you will discover that you are being transformed.” Encounter leads to transformation (2 Corinthians 3:18).

    Pray this:
“Lord Jesus, I come to You today. I confess that I want more than just knowledge about You; I crave a genuine, life-changing encounter with You, the Living Word. Reveal Yourself to me. Shatter my religious complacency and reveal Your holiness that I might see my own sin. Forgive me for my excuses and my neglect of Your Word. Holy Spirit, give me a hunger and a discipline to study the Bible daily. As I read, speak to me. Transform me from the inside out. Let my life be a testament to the power of truly knowing You. Amen.”

    Action Steps:

    1. Honest Evaluation: Ask yourself honestly: “Have I truly encountered Jesus, or am I just functioning on religious activity and second-hand knowledge?”
    2. Commit to Daily Appointment: Schedule a non-negotiable time each day to read and meditate on the Bible. Start with the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, John) to see Jesus most clearly.
    3. Pray Before Reading: Before you open the Word, pray Psalm 119:18: “Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.” Ask the Holy Spirit to speak.
    4. Journal: Write down what you feel God is saying to you through His Word. This helps to solidify the encounter.
    5. Obey Promptings: As God reveals areas of your life that need to change through His Word, obey immediately. Obedience deepens intimacy.

Remember: Your Christianity is only as powerful as your personal encounter with Christ. Church activity without a heart encounter leads to burnout and emptiness. But one moment in the presence of Jesus can rewrite your entire story. Don’t be content with knowing about Him. Press in through His Word until you know Him, and in knowing Him, you are forever transformed.

    TOPIC: TIME AND CHANCE

    MEMORISE:

    I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill;
    Ecclesiastes 9:11

    READ: 1 Samuel 17:12-50:

12 Now David was the son of that Ephrathite of Bethlehemjudah, whose name was Jesse; and he had eight sons: and the man went among men for an old man in the days of Saul.
13 And the three eldest sons of Jesse went and followed Saul to the battle: and the names of his three sons that went to the battle were Eliab the firstborn, and next unto him Abinadab, and the third Shammah.
14 And David was the youngest: and the three eldest followed Saul.
15 But David went and returned from Saul to feed his father’s sheep at Bethlehem.

16 And the Philistine drew near morning and evening, and presented himself forty days.
    17 And Jesse said unto David his son, Take now for thy brethren an ephah of this parched corn, and these ten loaves, and run to the camp of thy brethren;
18 And carry these ten cheeses unto the captain of their thousand, and look how thy brethren fare, and take their pledge.
19 Now Saul, and they, and all the men of Israel, were in the valley of Elah, fighting with the Philistines.
20 And David rose up early in the morning, and left the sheep with a keeper, and took, and went, as Jesse had commanded him; and he came to the trench, as the host was going forth to the fight, and shouted for the battle.

21 For Israel and the Philistines had put the battle in array, army against army.
22 And David left his carriage in the hand of the keeper of the carriage, and ran into the army, and came and saluted his brethren.
23 And as he talked with them, behold, there came up the champion, the Philistine of Gath, Goliath by name, out of the armies of the Philistines, and spake according to the same words: and David heard them.
24 And all the men of Israel, when they saw the man, fled from him, and were sore afraid.
25 And the men of Israel said, Have ye seen this man that is come up? surely to defy Israel is he come up: and it shall be, that the man who killeth him, the king will enrich him with great riches, and will give him his daughter, and make his father’s house free in Israel.

26 And David spake to the men that stood by him, saying, What shall be done to the man that killeth this Philistine, and taketh away the reproach from Israel? for who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?
27 And the people answered him after this manner, saying, So shall it be done to the man that killeth him.
28 And Eliab his eldest brother heard when he spake unto the men; and Eliab’s anger was kindled against David, and he said, Why camest thou down hither? and with whom hast thou left those few sheep in the wilderness? I know thy pride, and the naughtiness of thine heart; for thou art come down that thou mightest see the battle.
29 And David said, What have I now done? Is there not a cause?
30 And he turned from him toward another, and spake after the same manner: and the people answered him again after the former manner.

31 And when the words were heard which David spake, they rehearsed them before Saul: and he sent for him.
32 And David said to Saul, Let no man’s heart fail because of him; thy servant will go and fight with this Philistine.
33 And Saul said to David, Thou art not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him: for thou art but a youth, and he a man of war from his youth.
34 And David said unto Saul, Thy servant kept his father’s sheep, and there came a lion, and a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock:
35 And I went out after him, and smote him, and delivered it out of his mouth: and when he arose against me, I caught him by his beard, and smote him, and slew him.

36 Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he hath defied the armies of the living God.
37 David said moreover, The Lord that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said unto David, Go, and the Lord be with thee.
38 And Saul armed David with his armour, and he put an helmet of brass upon his head; also he armed him with a coat of mail.
39 And David girded his sword upon his armour, and he assayed to go; for he had not proved it. And David said unto Saul, I cannot go with these; for I have not proved them. And David put them off him.
40 And he took his staff in his hand, and chose him five smooth stones out of the brook, and put them in a shepherd’s bag which he had, even in a scrip; and his sling was in his hand: and he drew near to the Philistine.

41 And the Philistine came on and drew near unto David; and the man that bare the shield went before him.
42 And when the Philistine looked about, and saw David, he disdained him: for he was but a youth, and ruddy, and of a fair countenance.
43 And the Philistine said unto David, Am I a dog, that thou comest to me with staves? And the Philistine cursed David by his gods.
44 And the Philistine said to David, Come to me, and I will give thy flesh unto the fowls of the air, and to the beasts of the field.
45 Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the Lordof hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied.

46 This day will the Lord deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.
47 And all this assembly shall know that the Lord saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is the Lord’s, and he will give you into our hands.
48 And it came to pass, when the Philistine arose, and came, and drew nigh to meet David, that David hastened, and ran toward the army to meet the Philistine.
49 And David put his hand in his bag, and took thence a stone, and slang it, and smote the Philistine in his forehead, that the stone sunk into his forehead; and he fell upon his face to the earth.
50 So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and smote the Philistine, and slew him; but there was no sword in the hand of David.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 21 SEPTEMBER 2025 TODAY MESSAGE

There is a popular saying that good luck is when opportunity meets preparation – this is very true. A person can dream about achieving a particular feat, but if he or she does not prepare adequately towards this, when the opportunity comes, the fellow will be caught unawares and it will become obvious that he or she never prepared for it.

In today’s Bible reading, you will observe that David had been preparing himself for war while he was in the desert tending sheep. He had no weapons, but he continually trained until he mastered how to use a sling perfectly. His ‘lucky day’ came when he encountered Goliath and defeated him with just one swing of his sling.

So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and smote the Philistine, and slew him; but there was no sword in the hand of David. 1 Samuel 17:50

Unlike David, Rehoboam wasn’t prepared for the throne of Israel. Although he was the son of King Solomon, who many consider to be Israel’s wisest king, he was very foolish. He was the heir to the throne, and it would have been expected that he would have been preparing for the day he would become king. Unfortunately, he wasn’t prepared for something that he knew was coming, and he failed (2 Chronicles 10:1-19).

When a student knows that a school examination is coming and he or she doesn’t prepare, such a student can be said to be foolish. As a member of staff in an organisation, when a fellow knows that there will be regular performance appraisals and doesn’t do his or her job well, that fellow is foolish and cannot be promoted. If a pastor who knows that he or she will preach a message on Sunday does not fast, pray, or study for the message, he or she is the devil hindering his or her own growth. When the time for a big breakthrough comes in your life, I pray that you will be prepared, in Jesus’ name.

Today’s memory verse says that time and chance happens to every human being on the earth. This means that every human being on the earth will have opportunities to advance in life. However, only those who are prepared will recognise those opportunities when they come and maximise them.

Beloved, you must continuously increase your capacity, especially in areas you are seeking advancement so that when opportunities come your way, you will be prepared to make the best of them.

    REFLECTION

What are you doing now to prepare for the day your big opportunity comes?

    BIBLE IN ONE YEAR

    Jonah 1-4

HYMN 26: THERE SHALL BE SHOWERS OF BLESSINGS

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 21 SEPTEMBER 2025 COMMENTARY

    MEMORISE: Ecclesiastes 9:11 (KJV)
“I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.”
This verse presents a divine perspective on success. It acknowledges that natural advantages like speed, strength, wisdom, and skill are not the sole determinants of victory. The phrase “time and chance” (Hebrew: ‘eth ve pega‘) refers to appointed opportunities and decisive moments that God orchestrates for every person. Success, therefore, is when preparation meets this God-ordained opportunity.

BIBLE READING: 1 Samuel 17:12-50 (KJV)
This passage is the classic account of David and Goliath. It meticulously contrasts the unpreparedness of Saul’s army (v. 11, 24) with the meticulous preparation of David. David’s confidence (v. 32-37) was not bravado but the assurance of tested skill and proven faith. His victory (v. 48-50) was the direct result of countless hours spent in obscurity, practicing with his sling against lions and bears, and cultivating a deep trust in God.

    The Principle of Preparedness

Daddy Adeboye’s message centers on a universal principle: opportunity is useless without preparation. “Good luck” is redefined not as random fortune, but as the moment when a God-sent opportunity intersects with a person who is ready to seize it. The devotional interprets that dreams and destinies are not fulfilled by wishful thinking but by diligent, often hidden, preparation.

    David: The Model of Preparation

David’s story is broken down to reveal the components of true preparation:

    • Skill Development: He “mastered how to use a sling” through constant practice while tending sheep. This represents honing your natural and spiritual gifts in private.
    • Faith Development: His testimony of God delivering him from the lion and the bear (v. 34-37) shows that his confidence was in God, not just his skill. His private victories built his public faith.
    • Rejection of Inappropriate Armor: He refused Saul’s armor because he had not “proved it” (v. 39). This signifies staying true to how God has trained and equipped you, rather than trying to imitate others.

Rehoboam: The Cautionary Tale of Unpreparedness

In stark contrast, Rehoboam is presented as the archetype of the unprepared heir. Despite having every advantage—being the son of the wisest king, with foreknowledge of his succession—he failed because he neglected to prepare his character, wisdom, and leadership skills. His story teaches that knowing about a future event is not the same as preparing for it. This applies to Christians who know about Christ’s return but live unprepared lives.

    Application Across Spheres of Life

The devotional applies this principle to various arenas:

    • Students: Examination failure is directly linked to a lack of study.
    • Employees: Lack of promotion is tied to poor job performance despite knowing appraisal criteria.
    • Ministers: Ineffective ministry results from neglecting prayer, study, and preparation for sermons.
In each case, the individual becomes the “devil hindering his or her own growth” through a lack of discipline.

The Divine Role and Human Responsibility

The message balances divine sovereignty with human responsibility. God is the one who orchestrates “time and chance”—the opportunities. Our responsibility is to “continuously increase your capacity” through:

    • Skill Acquisition: Learning and improving in your field.
    • Spiritual Discipline: Praying, fasting, and studying the Word to sharpen spiritual sensitivity.
    • Character Development: Cultivating integrity, faithfulness, and wisdom.

This preparation ensures that when God’s appointed moment arrives, we are ready to “recognise” it and “maximise” it for His glory.

    Pray this:
“Heavenly Father, I thank You for the destiny You have planned for me and the opportunities You will send my way. Forgive me for times of laziness and procrastination. I ask for a spirit of discipline and diligence. Help me to prepare faithfully in the secret place, like David in the wilderness. Develop my skills, strengthen my faith, and build my character so that when the ‘time and chance’ You have appointed for me arrives, I will be ready to prevail. I refuse to be a Rehoboam, squandering my inheritance through a lack of preparation. Make me a person of preparation, in Jesus’ name. Amen.”

    Action Steps:

    1. Identify Your “Goliath”: What is the big challenge or goal in your future? (e.g., a career position, a ministry assignment, a financial goal).
    2. Define Your “Sling”: What specific skill, knowledge, or spiritual discipline do you need to develop to overcome that challenge?
    3. Create a Practice Routine: Dedicate time daily or weekly to intentionally practice and develop that skill or discipline. Start small and be consistent.
    4. Seek Your “Lion and Bear”: Look for smaller challenges now that can test and prove your growing skill and faith.
    5. Stay Ready: Live each day with expectancy, knowing that a divine opportunity could present itself at any moment. Your preparation will determine your outcome.

Remember: Your future victory is being determined by your present preparation. The battle is not won on the public battlefield but in the private fields of your daily discipline. God is faithful to bring the opportunity; your job is to be prepared to seize it. Do not curse the darkness of obscurity; use it as your training ground. For when your moment comes, your preparation will make your victory look like luck to those who didn’t see you training.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 20 SEPTEMBER 2025 TODAY MESSAGE

Many years ago, I went to preach in Onitsha, a town in South-Eastern Nigeria. On my way back to Lagos, I needed to refuel my car, so l stopped at Asaba to buy some fuel.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t get any. I kept driving until I got to Benin, but I still couldn’t get any fuel to buy. I continued my journey until I got to Ore. By then, the car’s fuel tank was on reserve. I didn’t know what to do. It was a Sunday evening, and I had to give some lectures the next morning.

Then, God spoke to me, “Son, take your eyes off the gauge and keep driving.” I drove the car on reserve fuel from Ore until I parked in my house in Surulere (over 200km).

God can bring something out of nothing, but for you to enjoy His blessings, you must be obedient to Him. When He says go, you should go, and when He says stop, you must stop.

Proverbs 3:5 says that you should not lean on your own understanding.

In John 5:2-9, there was an account of a man who had been ill for thirty-eight years. Jesus saw him lying by a pool and asked him, “Do you wish to get well?” The sick man answered, “Sir, I have no man to put me in the pool when the water is troubled.” Jesus then said to him, “Rise, take up your bed and walk.” Immediately, the man became well and began to walk. His simple obedience to Jesus’ instruction to rise and take up his bed broke the bondage he was in for thirty-eight years.

No matter how long a problem has existed, once God sends His word and you obey Him, you will have total freedom.

More than four decades ago, I was to travel outside Nigeria for the first time and had never been inside an aeroplane before. I was a lecturer at the University of Lagos and was to give a presentation in Sierra Leone. I was a bit anxious because I had never travelled outside

the country, but then, somebody gave me instructions on how to clear myself at the airport. I listened, obeyed the instructions, and my journey was successful.

Beloved, when God gives you an instruction, don’t think you are wiser than Him. He knows the end from the beginning and the best pathway for your life. If you want to succeed in life, simply obey God’s instructions. Obedience always precedes the miraculous.

    KEY POINT

The key to becoming successful is simply obeying God’s instructions.

This verse draws a critical distinction between intellectual assent and active obedience. To hear the word without acting on it is to engage in self-deception, creating a false sense of spirituality that has no power to change circumstances. True faith is always validated by corresponding action.

    BIBLE READING: Deuteronomy 28:1-13 (KJV)
This passage details the extensive blessings that are conditional upon obedience. Verse 1 sets the foundation: “And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments… all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee.” The blessings described—from personal prosperity to national preeminence—are not random acts of kindness but the guaranteed outcome of a life aligned with God’s commands.

Obedience: The Gateway to the Supernatural

Daddy Adeboye uses two powerful personal testimonies to illustrate that obedience is the catalyst that releases God’s supernatural provision into natural impossibility. The car running on an empty tank defied the laws of physics because it was operating on a higher law: the law of obedience to God’s direct command. The instruction, “take your eyes off the gauge and keep driving,” was a test of faith that required ignoring physical evidence and trusting divine assurance. The miracle was activated by his choice to obey.

    The Anatomy of an Instruction

The devotional analyzes different types of divine instructions:

    1. Direct Rhema Word: As in the fuel miracle, a specific, personal command from God that transcends general wisdom.
    2. Scriptural Principle: The general commandments in God’s Word, like those in Deuteronomy 28, which carry promised blessings for obedience.
    3. Practical Wisdom: As with the airport instructions, God often uses wise counsel and practical steps to guide us. Obedience to these is still obedience to God.

    Breaking Long-Standing Bondages

The account of the invalid at the Pool of Bethesda (John 5:2-9) is a masterclass in how obedience breaks chains. The man had been bound for 38 years, trapped in a cycle of excuses and failed solutions (“I have no man…”). Jesus bypassed all that and gave a simple, illogical command: “Rise, take up your bed and walk.” For a man who couldn’t walk, being told to stand and carry his bed was impossible. Yet, his obedience—the act of willing his muscles to move in faith—became the point of contact for his healing. The lesson is profound: Obedience is the key that turns the lock of God’s power, no matter how long the door has been shut.

The Folly of Leaning on Understanding

The message consistently warns against the trap of human reasoning. Proverbs 3:5 is the governing principle. Obedience often requires acting in ways that seem foolish to human logic:

    • Driving a car with an empty fuel gauge.
    • A paralyzed man trying to stand.
    • Marching around a city to make its walls fall (Joshua 6).
    • Filling pots with water to become wine (John 2).
God’s instructions are designed to bypass our limited understanding and force us to rely entirely on His infinite wisdom and power.

    The Outcome: Blessings That Overtake

The result of obedience is not just a solved problem; it is a life flooded with blessing. Deuteronomy 28 says the blessings will “overtake” you. This implies that when you are in alignment with God’s commands, you position yourself in the path of His favor, which will find you and overwhelm you. Obedience precedes the miraculous because it creates the spiritual conditions for God’s power to flow unimpeded.

    Pray this:
“Heavenly Father, I repent for the times I have been a hearer of Your word and not a doer, deceiving myself. Forgive me for leaning on my own understanding and allowing logic to override obedience. Today, I surrender my will. Give me a heart that is quick to obey Your voice, whether through Your Word, Your Spirit, or godly counsel. I break the power of delay and excuse over my life. I choose to obey, even when it doesn’t make sense, trusting that Your commands are always for my blessing and Your glory. Let my obedience unlock the miraculous in my life today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

    Action Steps:

    1. Identify an Unobeyed Prompt: Is there a specific instruction from God (e.g., to forgive someone, to start a ministry, to give an offering, to apologize) that you have been delaying?
    2. Act on It Today: Do not delay. Your miracle is waiting on the other side of that obedience.
    3. Study Obedience: Read and meditate on Deuteronomy 28 this week. Write down the blessings attached to obedience and pray them over your life.
    4. Practice Immediate Obedience: Train your spirit to respond immediately to the gentle nudges of the Holy Spirit throughout your day.
    5. Testify: When you obey and see God’s miraculous provision, share your testimony. It will encourage others and strengthen your own faith.

Remember: Your obedience is the conduit through which God’s power flows into your situation. You do not need to understand the command to obey it; you only need to trust the Commander. The size of your miracle will always correspond to the level of your obedience. Do not just listen to God’s word; do what it says. For it is in the act of doing that the supernatural becomes your natural reality.

TOPIC: YOU CAN ALSO DO EXPLOITS

    MEMORISE:

For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:
    Isaiah 28:10

    READ: John 14:11-12:

11 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works’ sake.
12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 19 SEPTEMBER 2025 TODAY MESSAGE

When God called me to become a pastor, I did not want to answer the call, but He insisted.

So, I told Him, “I don’t want to be an ordinary Christian or an ordinary pastor. If You want me to be who You say You want me to be, I want to at least do the works that Jesus did, and even greater.”

The Lord said, “No problem. It’s just that you will have to start from where Jesus started. He fasted for 40 days and nights before He performed His first miracle.” At that time, the only times I ever fasted was on Good Fridays, and those fasts only lasted from morning until 12 noon.

I told God, “40 days and nights?” He responded, “Well, you are the one who said you want to do what Jesus did, and even greater, so you have to start from where He started.” I almost said, “Lord, don’t worry,” but I thought to myself, “If there is anything you learnt in Mathematics, it is that you start from the known to the unknown, from simple equations to simultaneous, quadratic, exponential, and so on.”

So, I started with three days and nights; I’m telling you, it felt like three months. After some time, fasting for three days and nights every month was no longer difficult for me, so l moved on to five days and then seven until I got to fasting for 40 days and nights more than once a year.

Beloved, you can attain any height if you are steadily growing in the right direction. Don’t think that those who are at the top got there in one day. Line must be upon line, and precept must be upon precept, a little here and a little there (Isaiah 28:10), after which you will find yourself in the place where you desire to be.

I believe that all the teachings of Jesus can be simply summarised as ‘nothing goes for nothing’. There is a price to pay if you want to be great. You may not be able to pay all the price now, but if you take it one step at a time, you will soon get to the desired height. You can start from where you are because if you keep waiting to start big, you might never start.

God commits more into the hands of those who are faithful in little (Luke 16:10).

    ACTION POINT

Gradually pay the price to attain a greater height in God from now.

    BIBLE IN ONE YEAR

    Amos 5-9

    HYMN 12: ONWARD CHRISTIAN SOLDIERS

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 19 SEPTEMBER 2025 COMMENTARY

    MEMORISE: Isaiah 28:10 (KJV)
“For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:”
This verse outlines God’s fundamental method for spiritual growth and development. It is a process of gradual, cumulative learning and application. It rejects the idea of instant maturity, emphasizing instead steady, consistent building—adding one truth upon another, one victory upon another, until a solid foundation of faith and character is established.

    BIBLE READING: John 14:11-12 (KJV)
“11 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works’ sake. 12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.”
This is one of the most staggering promises in Scripture. Jesus declares that believers will not only replicate His miraculous works but will exceed them in scope and impact. This is not based on human ability but on His departure (which enables the Holy Spirit’s coming) and the authority He delegates to those who believe.

    The Principle of Progressive Growth

Daddy Adeboye uses his personal testimony to demystify spiritual greatness. The desire to do “greater works” is God-given and encouraged (John 14:12). However, the path to achieving it is often misunderstood. The core interpretation is that spiritual power is built on spiritual discipline, and discipline is acquired progressively. There are no shortcuts. The “greater works” are preceded by the “greater sacrifices” and “greater obedience” that few are willing to pay.

The Mathematics of the Spirit: Start from the Known

The devotional brilliantly uses a mathematical principle—”start from the known to the unknown”—as a spiritual key. God’s response to Daddy Adeboye’s audacious request was not a refusal but an invitation to begin at the beginning: the 40-day fast that launched Jesus’ ministry. The initial feeling that “three days felt like three months” is a relatable truth for anyone starting a difficult discipline. However, the testimony proves that consistency transforms the impossible into the achievable. What was once a mountain becomes a milestone.

“Line upon Line”: The Architecture of Anointing

The Memorise verse (Isaiah 28:10) is the skeleton key to the entire message. Spiritual growth is architectural, not accidental. It is built:

    • Precept upon precept: Understanding deeper truths only after mastering foundational ones.
    • Line upon line: Adding new levels of obedience upon previous ones.
    • Here a little, there a little: Faithful in small daily commitments, which accumulate into massive spiritual capital over time.
This process requires patience and rejects the microwave mentality that seeks instant spiritual power without investment.

The Law of Investment: “Nothing Goes for Nothing”

The summary of Jesus’ teachings as “nothing goes for nothing” is a powerful distillation of the law of sowing and reaping (Galatians 6:7). Every level of glory requires a corresponding level of sacrifice. Every dimension of anointing has a price tag of consecration. The “greater works” are stored up for those who are willing to invest the “greater price” of prolonged prayer, fasting, and unwavering obedience.

    The Triumph of Faithfulness

The application is immensely practical: start where you are. Do not despise the days of small beginnings (Zechariah 4:10). The promise of Luke 16:10 is invoked: faithfulness in the little (a 3-day fast) is what qualifies you for authority over much (the anointing for greater works). The enemy of progress is not the inability to do great things now, but the unwillingness to do small things consistently.

    Pray this:
“Heavenly Father, I believe Your word that I am called to do the works of Jesus and even greater. Forgive me for wanting the glory without the story, the power without the price. I embrace Your principle of ‘line upon line.’ Give me the grace to start where I am. I commit to being faithful in the small disciplines of prayer, fasting, and studying Your Word. I receive the patience to grow steadily and the courage to increase my capacity step by step. I trust that as I am faithful with little, You will commit more into my hands, until I walk in the full manifestation of John 14:12. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

    Action Steps:

    1. Define Your “Greater Work”: What specific “work” has God placed in your heart? (e.g., powerful intercession, healing ministry, impactful evangelism).
    2. Identify the Starting Point: What is the foundational discipline required? (e.g., If it’s intercession, start with 15 minutes a day. If it’s fasting, start with one meal).
    3. Create a Growth Plan: Don’t aim for 40 days immediately. Plan to increase gradually. “After some time,” as Daddy Adeboye said, increase the duration or intensity.
    4. Celebrate Milestones: When a 3-day fast becomes easy, celebrate that growth! It is proof that your spiritual capacity is expanding.
    5. Embrace the Process: Remember that the goal is not just to perform works but to become a person of spiritual substance and character who can sustain the anointing.

Remember: The path to the extraordinary is paved with ordinary acts of extraordinary faithfulness. Your 40-day anointing is hidden in your obedience to today’s 3-day fast. Do not despise the small beginnings. Build precept upon precept, line upon line. For those who are faithful to climb the ladder one rung at a time will eventually reach heights where they can see and do what others only dream of.

    MEMORISE:

Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
    Matthew 5:6

    READ: Psalm 63:1-5:

    1 O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;
2 To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary.
3 Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 18 SEPTEMBER 2025 TODAY MESSAGE

No matter how high you have gone in God, you can go even higher. However, only those who are hungry for more will go higher. People who settle easily cannot move higher because they either think they have enough or lack the capacity or ability to achieve more.

I once travelled to Rivers, a state in Southern Nigeria, and ministered in several locations within the state. In one of the locations, while I was ministering, I laid my hands on some sick people.

When I finished, I wanted to wash my hands, so two ladies brought water and soap for me – one was carrying a bowl of soapy water, and the other was carrying a bowl with clean water. As I was washing my hands inside the bowl of soapy water, I sensed in my spirit that the lady carrying the bowl was hungry for the anointing. Suddenly, I felt the anointing of God flowing from me into the water, then through the bowl and into her hands.

Suddenly, she began to vibrate violently, and someone had to quickly take the bowl from her hands. The people around quickly got her a chair to sit on, but she continued shaking under the influence of the anointing.

The interesting thing was that the anointing was still in the water and in the bowl, but the person who took the bowl from her did not feel anything. He didn’t feel anything because he was not hungry for more.

Hunger attracts greater levels of the anointing and draws people into higher realms in God. Those who are hungry for more of God are always willing to pay the price. They don’t complain when it is time to fast or grumble when it is time to pray. Because they are hungry, they are willing and ready to do all it takes to go higher.

Are you hungry for more of God? Do you wish to go higher in God? Indeed, in John 7:37, it is those who thirst that Jesus invited to drink from Him. However, He also said you must come to Him before you can drink from Him. A lot of people talk about how they long to go higher; however, when the time comes to do what it takes to come to Him, they are the first to say that they can’t fast, pray, or study their Bibles for long.

Beloved, thirst to go higher in God, but also be prepared to give what it takes.

    PRAYER POINT

Father, please fill my heart with great hunger for more. Help me pay the price to go higher, in Jesus’ name.

    BIBLE IN ONE YEAR

    Amos 1-4

HYMN 8: I Need Thee Every Hour

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 18 SEPTEMBER 2025 COMMENTARY

    MEMORISE: Matthew 5:6 (KJV)
“Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.”
This beatitude presents a spiritual principle: divine fulfillment is directly proportional to spiritual appetite. Hunger and thirst are not passive states; they are intense, driving desires that demand satisfaction. God promises that this specific craving—for right standing with Him and His nature—will be completely and abundantly satisfied.

    BIBLE READING: Psalm 63:1-5 (KJV)
This psalm, written by David in the wilderness, is the ultimate expression of spiritual hunger. His physical need for water in a dry land is overshadowed by his soul’s desperate thirst for God. His longing is personal (“thee”), early (“will I seek thee”), and intense (“my flesh longeth for thee”). His satisfaction comes not from a change in circumstances, but from worship and meditation, which fills him with a joy as satisfying as “marrow and fatness.”

The Insatiable Appetite for More of God

Daddy Adeboye’s core message is that spiritual advancement is not automatic; it is fueled by a conscious, relentless hunger for more of God. Complacency and satisfaction with one’s current spiritual state are the greatest barriers to going higher. The devotional makes a stark distinction between those who are content with their current level of anointing and those who possess a holy dissatisfaction that drives them deeper.

The Bowl of Soapy Water: A Testament to Hunger

The personal testimony is a powerful modern-day parable. The anointing—the tangible power and presence of God—flowed not to the most important person in the room, but to the hungriest. It bypassed human structures and responded to the cry of a heart. The key interpretation is that the anointing is responsive. It moves toward hunger. The fact that the next person who held the bowl felt nothing proves that the vessel (the bowl) was not the source; the hunger of the individual was the conduit. God’s power is always available, but it is accessed by faith and fervent desire.

    The Price of Progress

The devotional honestly addresses the cost of spiritual hunger. True hunger is not just a desire for an experience; it is a willingness to “pay the price.” This price includes:

    • The Discipline of Fasting: Denying the physical body to feed the spirit.
    • The Commitment to Prayer: Investing time in deep, consistent communion with God.
    • The Diligence in Study: Mining the depths of God’s Word for revelation.
Those who are genuinely hungry do not complain about these disciplines; they embrace them as the necessary means to satisfy their souls’ deepest craving.

    The Invitation and the Requirement

The message correctly ties spiritual hunger to Jesus’ invitation in John 7:37: “If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.” The invitation is universal (“any man”), but it contains a requirement (“let him come”). The commentary exposes a common hypocrisy: many talk about longing for more of God but are unwilling to “come” to Him through the means He has prescribed (prayer, fasting, Word). True thirst will compel action. It will move a person from talking about longing to actually coming to the wellspring.

    The Reward of Hunger

The reward for this hunger is twofold:

    1. Filling: The promise of Matthew 5:6 is that you “shall be filled.” This is not a partial measure but a complete saturation of the soul’s desire.
    2. Ascension: Hunger propels you “higher in God.” It leads to greater realms of glory, deeper intimacy, and increased spiritual authority and impact.

    Pray this:
“Lord Jesus, I confess my spiritual apathy. Forgive me for being content with where I am. Today, I ask You to ignite a desperate, unquenchable hunger and thirst for righteousness in my soul. I want more of You. I refuse to settle. Give me the grace to pay the price—to seek You early, to pray without ceasing, to fast consistently, and to meditate on Your Word day and night. Let my hunger attract a greater measure of Your anointing and draw me into deeper realms of Your glory. I come to You now, as the thirsty one, to drink deeply from the river of Your life. Amen.”

    Action Steps:

    1. Conduct a Hunger Audit: On a scale of 1-10, how hungry are you for God? What specific things (distractions, sins, comforts) are suppressing your appetite?
    2. Create a “Wilderness” Time: Intentionally create a space each day that is free from distractions (a “wilderness”) to seek God like David did. Pour out your soul to Him.
    3. Commit to a Discipline: Choose one area of the “price” you have neglected (e.g., fasting, extended prayer). Make a concrete plan to incorporate it this week.
    4. Position Yourself: Be like the woman with the bowl. Position yourself in places and services where God’s presence is moving. Go with expectancy, ready to receive.
    5. Pray for Hunger: Make “Lord, make me hungry for You” a daily prayer. True spiritual hunger itself is a gift from God.

Remember: Your spiritual ceiling is determined by the depth of your hunger. God has infinitely more of Himself to reveal to you. Do not settle for the tales of those who crossed the Red Sea when God is inviting you to possess the Promised Land. Let your heart cry be: “More, Lord!” For it is to those who hunger and thirst that the promise of filling is guaranteed.

TOPIC: GOD CAN MAKE YOU A SOLUTION

    MEMORISE:

Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee.
    Isaiah 60:1

    READ: 1 Kings 17:17-24:

17 And it came to pass after these things, that the son of the woman, the mistress of the house, fell sick; and his sickness was so sore, that there was no breath left in him.
18 And she said unto Elijah, What have I to do with thee, O thou man of God? art thou come unto me to call my sin to remembrance, and to slay my son?
19 And he said unto her, Give me thy son. And he took him out of her bosom, and carried him up into a loft, where he abode, and laid him upon his own bed.
20 And he cried unto the Lord, and said, O Lord my God, hast thou also brought evil upon the widow with whom I sojourn, by slaying her son?

21 And he stretched himself upon the child three times, and cried unto the Lord, and said, O Lord my God, I pray thee, let this child’s soul come into him again.
22 And the Lord heard the voice of Elijah; and the soul of the child came into him again, and he revived.
23 And Elijah took the child, and brought him down out of the chamber into the house, and delivered him unto his mother: and Elijah said, See, thy son liveth.
24 And the woman said to Elijah, Now by this I know that thou art a man of God, and that the word of the Lord in thy mouth is truth.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 17 SEPTEMBER 2025 TODAY MESSAGE

Every day, people see problems that they wish they could do something about. What if God could use you to bring a solution to every problem you encounter or make you the solution to that lingering issue in your family?

If something terrible happens in your neighbourhood, can you say a simple prayer that will effect a change such that the people who were in sorrow will start rejoicing?

When the widow of one of the sons of the prophets came to Elisha because of her debt problem, she didn’t return home the same. Elisha opened her eyes to see that the solution she desperately needed was in her house. He showed her the secret to getting out of debt and living a financially independent life (2 Kings 4:1-7).

Sometimes, becoming the solution to another person’s problem is not by giving them money but by opening their eyes to see what they have never paid attention to, empowering them with the correct knowledge and information to live a bondage-free life.

Jesus said, “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32). Jesus is the way, the TRUTH, and the life (John 14:6). Hence, the ultimate way to help people with problems is to introduce Him to them.

In today’s Bible reading, when the son of the widow died, she didn’t turn to the king for help.

Instead, she turned to Elijah, and God used him to raise her dead son. If such a thing happened around you, do you have the capacity for God to provide such a solution through you? You may say, “Oh, I am not a prophet like Elijah.” However, there is no record in the Scriptures that only ordained ministers of God can perform miracles.

Mark 16:17-18 says, “And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.”

Jesus is the ultimate solution to every problem, and He has given those who believe in Him the authority to perform signs and wonders in His name. To do this, however, you must exercise your spirit more than your flesh.

Beloved, be the kind of believer who studies the Bible and prays regularly. When you are such, then God will make you a solution to the problems of many people around you.

    PRAYER POINT

When you fellowship with Jesus – the Ultimate Solution – He will make you a solution to problems around you.

    BIBLE IN ONE YEAR

    Joel 1-3

HYMN 59: I WANT TO BE LIKE JESUS

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 17 SEPTEMBER 2025 COMMENTARY

    MEMORISE: Isaiah 60:1 (KJV)
“Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee.”
This is a prophetic command to move from a state of passivity or obscurity into a place of radiant influence. The “light” is not self-generated; it is the manifested presence and glory of God upon a life. This light is given not for personal enjoyment alone, but to illuminate darkness and provide guidance and solutions to those in need.

BIBLE READING: 1 Kings 17:17-24 (KJV)
This passage continues the story of the widow of Zarephath. After experiencing miraculous provision, she faces an even greater crisis: the death of her son. In her despair, she turns to Elijah, not to a local king or physician. Elijah, in turn, takes her problem to God in passionate intercession. The result is a dramatic resurrection miracle. This narrative shows that the God who provides is also the God who resurrects, and He uses people as vessels to bring His life-giving solutions into impossible situations.

The Call to Be a Solution

Daddy Adeboye builds on the previous day’s message, moving from the concept of being a solution-provider to actually becoming the solution itself. This is a deeper level of spiritual authority where God’s power flows through a person to directly alter circumstances. The devotional poses a provocative question: “What if God could use you to bring a solution to every problem you encounter?” This reframes the believer’s identity from a passive observer to an active, empowered agent of change.

Beyond Financial Aid: The Ministry of Revelation

The account of the widow and Elisha (2 Kings 4:1-7) is used to illustrate that the most powerful solutions are often not handouts, but revelations. Elisha didn’t give her money; he gave her insight. He opened her eyes to see the potential in the “pot of oil” she already possessed but had overlooked. This teaches a vital principle: Many are stuck because they are blind to the resources God has already placed in their hands. The role of a solution-bearer is often to pray for and speak revelation that unlocks these hidden resources—be it a skill, an idea, a forgotten asset, or a spiritual gift.

    The Ultimate Solution: Introducing Jesus

The devotional correctly identifies that all problems are, at their root, spiritual. Therefore, the ultimate and most comprehensive solution is a person: Jesus Christ, the Truth who sets free (John 8:32). Introducing someone to a relationship with Him is the greatest problem-solving act one can ever perform, as it addresses eternal destiny and provides internal resources (the Holy Spirit) to navigate earthly challenges.

    The Authority of Every Believer

A crucial point of interpretation is the dismantling of the clergy-laity divide in performing miracles. Daddy Adeboye emphasizes that “there is no record in the Scriptures that only ordained ministers of God can perform miracles.” He cites Mark 16:17-18 to establish that signs, wonders, and miraculous solutions are meant to “follow them that believe.” This is a call for every Christian to step into the authority delegated to them by Jesus. The capacity to be used by God in miraculous ways is not based on title but on belief, faith, and a life of communion with Him.

    The Condition for Channeling Solutions

The key to operating in this dimension is clearly stated: “you must exercise your spirit more than your flesh.” This means:

    • Prioritizing Spiritual Disciplines: A consistent life of Bible study and prayer is non-negotiable. This is how our spirit man is strengthened and sensitized to God’s voice and power.
    • Living a Sanctified Life: To be a clean vessel through which God’s pure power can flow, we must submit to the Holy Spirit’s work of purifying our motives and actions.
    • Walking in Faith: Believing that the same power that raised Christ from the dead lives in us and is available to meet the needs of others (Romans 8:11).

    Pray this:
“Heavenly Father, I arise today in the light of Your glory. Forgive me for overlooking the problems around me or feeling ill-equipped to help. I ask that You would use me as a solution-bearer. Open my eyes to see the hidden potential in others and in situations. Most importantly, let my life point people to Jesus, the ultimate Solution. Holy Spirit, strengthen my spirit through prayer and Your Word. Grant me the faith and boldness to lay hands on the sick, to speak freedom to the bound, and to be a channel of Your miraculous power in my family, neighborhood, and world. Make me a answer to prayer for someone today. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.”

    Action Steps:

    1. Shift Your Prayer: When you see a problem, stop and pray, “Lord, how can You use me to be the solution here?” Listen for His guidance.
    2. Look for the ‘Pot of Oil’: When someone comes to you with a need, don’t just see what they lack. Ask the Holy Spirit to show you what resource, skill, or truth they already possess that could be the key to their breakthrough.
    3. Step Out in Authority: Believe Mark 16:17-18. The next time you encounter sickness, offer to pray in Jesus’ name. Step out in faith to speak a word of encouragement or wisdom that could change a situation.
    4. Strengthen Your Spirit: Commit to a specific plan to “exercise your spirit” this week—add 15 minutes of prayer, join a Bible study, or fast one meal to focus on God.

Remember: You are not called to just observe the famine; you are anointed to be a baker like the widow of Zarephath. You are not called to just mourn the dead; you are called to intercede like Elijah. God has deposited His light and life within you. Arise, shine, and let His solutions flow through you to a world in desperate need.

    MEMORISE:

Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.
    Matthew 10:16

    READ: 1 Kings 17:1-16:

1 And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, As the Lord God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.
2 And the word of the Lord came unto him, saying,
3 Get thee hence, and turn thee eastward, and hide thyself by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.
4 And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there.
5 So he went and did according unto the word of the Lord: for he went and dwelt by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.

6 And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening; and he drank of the brook.
7 And it came to pass after a while, that the brook dried up, because there had been no rain in the land.
8 And the word of the Lord came unto him, saying,
9 Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee.
10 So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman was there gathering of sticks: and he called to her, and said, Fetch me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink.

11 And as she was going to fetch it, he called to her, and said, Bring me, I pray thee, a morsel of bread in thine hand.
12 And she said, As the Lord thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: and, behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.
13 And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son.
14 For thus saith the Lord God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day that the Lord sendeth rain upon the earth.

15 And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah: and she, and he, and her house, did eat many days.
16 And the barrel of meal wasted not, neither did the cruse of oil fail, according to the word of the Lord, which he spake by Elijah.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 16 SEPTEMBER 2025 TODAY MESSAGE

It is commonly said that statues are never built in honour of critics. While it is not bad to criticise people who are not doing what they ought to be doing, you must not just stop there.

And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, As the LORD God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word 1 Kings 17:1.

In the Scripture above, we see that Elijah started out as a critic. The king wasn’t behaving in the right manner, and just like any critic, Elijah walked into the palace and confronted him. However, he didn’t stop there; he moved on to become a vessel that God used to provide for the needs of a poor widow and her son (1 Kings 17:8-16).

Would you rather become a mere critic or an activist whom God will use to put solutions forward? Would you be content with only carrying placards and protesting or also becoming so wealthy that you can feed the hungry?

Carrying placards and protesting will attract the attention of the people you are criticising. However, beyond that, you must grow to a point where you can recommend and even provide some of the solutions you are demanding. Don’t just become a critic that challenges those in authority; grow to the point where your impact cannot be ignored.

This message is particularly for youths. They should learn from Moses who thought he could fulfil his destiny his own way, and as a result, he had to stay in the wilderness for another 40 years until he was ready. The positive change you want can happen, but you must be wise enough to let it happen in God’s way.

Matthew 10:16 says, “Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.”

Christians need to be as strategic as serpents. The most dangerous thing about a serpent is its silence when it wants to attack its prey. When it attacks, the prey only realises it when it is already too late.

Beloved, be wise. God has a great destiny for you, but you must not let overzealousness prevent you from fulfilling your destiny. Rather than just being a mere noisemaker, increase your capacity so that you can indeed become a force to be reckoned with. Your zeal should be matched with the right knowledge and actions (Romans 10:1-2).

    KEY POINT

Don’t just criticise things or people; become a part of the solution you desire to see.

    BIBLE IN ONE YEAR

    Hosea 10-14

HYMN 59: I WANT TO BE LIKE JESUS

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 16 SEPTEMBER 2025 COMMENTARY

    MEMORISE: Matthew 10:16 (KJV)
“Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.”
This instruction from Jesus acknowledges the reality of opposition (“wolves”) faced by His followers. The call to be “harmless as doves” speaks to maintaining pure motives and a Christ-like character. The command to be “wise as serpents” is a charge to be shrewd, strategic, and discerning—to understand the times and operate with heavenly intelligence to achieve divine objectives.

BIBLE READING: 1 Kings 17:1-16 (KJV)
This passage showcases the evolution of a critic into a solution-provider. Elijah begins by confronting King Ahab with a word of judgment (v.1)—a critical act. However, he doesn’t remain in that mode. God immediately leads him into a season of hiding and preparation by the Brook Cherith (v.2-7) and then to the widow of Zarephath (v.8-16). There, his prophetic word becomes a creative miracle, providing sustained provision and life during a famine. His criticism was validated by his constructive action.

    From Criticism to Constructive Action

Daddy Adeboye makes a crucial distinction that is highly relevant in today’s world of social media commentary and protests. It is not wrong to be a critic—to identify and speak against what is evil or dysfunctional, as Elijah did with Ahab. However, the spiritual maturity and greater impact lie in moving from identifying problems to implementing solutions. The devotional challenges believers, particularly youths, to not settle for being mere “noisemakers” who only carry placards, but to grow into “activists” whom God uses to provide tangible answers.

    The Danger of Unstrategic Zeal

The message uses the example of Moses’ first attempt to deliver Israel (Exodus 2:11-15) as a warning. His zeal was right, but his method—acting in his own strength and timing—was foolish and cost him 40 years in the wilderness. This illustrates the difference between zeal with knowledge and zeal without knowledge (Romans 10:2). Unstrategic, emotional zeal can delay or derail destiny. True change must happen “in God’s way,” which often requires patience, preparation, and divine strategy.

    The Serpent’s Wisdom: Strategic Impact

The call to be “wise as serpents” is unpacked as a call to strategic, impactful living. The serpent’s wisdom lies in its silence and precision before it strikes. The interpretation for the believer is not about being malicious but about being strategically silent until the time for action is right, and then moving with decisive, God-ordained precision. This means:

    • Building Capacity First: Instead of just protesting hunger, become so skilled, anointed, and resourceful that you can actually feed the hungry (like Elijah with the widow).
    • Choosing Battles Wisely: Not every wrong requires a public confrontation. Some require quiet prayer, strategic planning, and building influence until you are in a position to effect real change.
    • Letting Actions Speak Louder: Becoming a “force to be reckoned with” through demonstrable competence and Spirit-led solutions, making your impact undeniable.

    The Ultimate Goal: God-Glorifying Change

The underlying motive for this transition from critic to solution-bearer is the glory of God. Mere criticism often draws attention to the critic and the problem. Divine solutions draw attention to God’s power and goodness. Elijah’s miracle at Zarephath didn’t just feed a family; it showcased the sovereignty and provision of the God of Israel to a pagan region. Our constructive actions should ultimately point people to Christ.

    Pray this:
“Lord Jesus, forgive me for the times I have been content to only criticize without seeking to be part of the solution. Fill me with Your wisdom, making me ‘wise as a serpent and harmless as a dove.’ Deliver me from unstrategic zeal that operates in the flesh. Holy Spirit, guide me into seasons of preparation and show me how to build my capacity. Use me not just to identify problems, but to provide God-ordained solutions that meet needs and glorify Your name. Let my life be a force for constructive, kingdom advancement. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

    Action Steps:

    1. Identify Your Critique: What issue in your family, church, community, or nation stirs righteous anger in you? This is a clue to your assignment.
    2. Shift from Problem to Project: Instead of just talking about the problem, ask God: “What is one practical, small step I can take to be part of the solution?”
    3. Invest in Capacity Building: What skill, knowledge, or resource do you need to address this issue effectively? Commit to learning, studying, or saving towards it.
    4. Embrace Strategic Silence: Practice discernment. Before speaking out on an issue, pray for God’s strategy and timing. Sometimes the most powerful action is quiet preparation.
    5. Seek a Mentor: Find someone who is effectively creating change in an area you care about and learn from their wisdom and experience.

Remember: Statues are built for solution-providers, not just critics. God is calling you beyond the palace of criticism to the brook of preparation and the house of manifestation. Your destiny is not to just point out the famine but to become a channel of God’s provision in the midst of it. Let your zeal be matched with wisdom, and your criticism be eclipsed by your constructive contribution.

    READ: Ruth 1:8-18:

8 And Naomi said unto her two daughters in law, Go, return each to her mother’s house: the Lord deal kindly with you, as ye have dealt with the dead, and with me.
9 The Lord grant you that ye may find rest, each of you in the house of her husband. Then she kissed them; and they lifted up their voice, and wept.
10 And they said unto her, Surely we will return with thee unto thy people.
11 And Naomi said, Turn again, my daughters: why will ye go with me? are there yet any more sons in my womb, that they may be your husbands?

    12 Turn again, my daughters, go your way; for I am too old to have an husband. If I should say, I have hope, if I should have an husband also to night, and should also bear sons;
13 Would ye tarry for them till they were grown? would ye stay for them from having husbands? nay, my daughters; for it grieveth me much for your sakes that the hand of the Lord is gone out against me.
14 And they lifted up their voice, and wept again: and Orpah kissed her mother in law; but Ruth clave unto her.

15 And she said, Behold, thy sister in law is gone back unto her people, and unto her gods: return thou after thy sister in law.
16 And Ruth said, Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God:
17 Where thou diest, will I die, and there will I be buried: the Lord do so to me, and more also, if ought but death part thee and me.
18 When she saw that she was stedfastly minded to go with her, then she left speaking unto her.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 15 SEPTEMBER 2025 TODAY MESSAGE

When I was leaving for my postgraduate studies, I handed my mother over to my wife, knowing that she would take good care of her. My wife is a helpmeet indeed, and a true helpmeet is a great blessing not just to her husband but her in-laws as well. She won’t seek to compete with them or disrespect them; rather, she will help her husband by honouring his people.

Nowadays, some women say that they are only married to their husbands and do not care about their in-laws. This is not right because their husbands came from a home, and as helpmeets, they have a responsibility to love their husbands’ people too.

Ruth was a wise woman. When she married Naomi’s son, she took Naomi as her mother. Her love for Naomi was so great that when her husband died, she abandoned her hometown to follow her mother-in-law to a place she had never been. She was ready to risk everything to care for her aged mother-in-law.

In return, God rewarded her selflessness by giving her another home. Ruth’s service to her mother-in-law opened the door of fruitfulness to her (Ruth 1-4), and in the account of the genealogy of Jesus Christ in Matthew 1:1-16, you will find her name in verse 5.

Loving in-laws is, however, not peculiar to wives alone. Husbands must also love and honour their in-laws. The fact that they have fulfilled all the necessary traditional marriage rites does not mean their wives’ parents and family members are unimportant.

For example, Jesus healed Peter’s mother-in-law when he visited Peter’s house in Matthew 8:14-15. Immediately Jesus healed her, she arose and ministered to them. If she hadn’t been treated well before that time, and if she wasn’t made to feel welcomed in the house, she wouldn’t have thought of serving everyone present, including her son-in-law.

If you’re married, God put you in your spouse’s family because He wants you to extend His love to them. Whether they reciprocate or not, your responsibility is to love them. No man snuffs out the little light he has because every other person is living in darkness. Instead, he makes his light shine brighter for all to see.

If your inlaws don’t believe in Jesus yet, your marriage has given you the opportunity to show them the light. Ask God for the wisdom to relate with them, and in everything you do, let the love of Christ rule your heart, actions, and decisions.

    ACTION POINT

In-laws should be loved whether they reciprocate it or not.

    BIBLE IN ONE YEAR

    Hosea 5-9

HYMN 33: GUIDE ME, O THOU GREAT JEHOVAH!

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 15 SEPTEMBER 2025 COMMENTARY

    MEMORISE: Jude 1:21 (KJV)
“Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.”
This verse calls for active, intentional abiding. To “keep yourselves in the love of God” means to consciously remain in the place where His love is received and from which it is expressed to others. It is from this secure position in His love that we can extend mercy and love to others, even when it is difficult.

    BIBLE READING: Ruth 1:8-18 (KJV)
This passage captures one of the most powerful moments of covenant loyalty in the Bible. Faced with a choice to return to her pagan homeland or cling to her destitute Israelite mother-in-law, Ruth makes a profound declaration of love and commitment: “Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God” (v. 16). This was a radical, selfless decision that went far beyond cultural expectation.

    Redefining the “Helpmeet”

Daddy Adeboye begins by redefining the biblical concept of a “helpmeet” (Genesis 2:18). It is not a role confined to the private sphere of the marital home. A true helpmeet, as exemplified by his own wife, understands that her role extends to being a blessing to her husband’s entire family. The devotional interprets that love for one’s spouse is intrinsically linked to love for the people who produced and shaped them. To reject or disrespect in-laws is, in essence, to reject a part of one’s spouse.

Ruth: The Paragon of Covenant Love

The story of Ruth is presented as the ultimate biblical model for in-law relationships. Her actions are broken down to reveal profound spiritual principles:

    • Love Beyond Convenience: Ruth’s commitment was tested by tragedy (the death of her husband) and potential poverty. Her love was not based on what she could get from the relationship but on a covenant she had made.
    • Radical Identification: Her famous vow, “your people will be my people, your God my God,” signifies a complete transfer of allegiance. She didn’t just accompany Naomi; she fully integrated into her family, culture, and faith.
    • The Reward of Selflessness: Her story demonstrates that acts of love done in obscurity and sacrifice are seen by God and rewarded abundantly. Her care for Naomi positioned her in the field of Boaz, led to her redemption, and ultimately placed her in the lineage of Christ (Matthew 1:5). Her service opened her door to fruitfulness.

    A Charge to Husbands

The message is carefully balanced. The responsibility to love in-laws is “not peculiar to wives alone.” Husbands are also commanded to honor and love their wives’ families. The example of Jesus healing Peter’s mother-in-law (Matthew 8:14-15) is powerfully used. The interpretation is that Jesus’ act of healing was an act of honor and value. Furthermore, her immediate response to serve indicates she felt loved and welcomed in her son-in-law’s home—a testament to Peter’s (and by extension, Jesus’) treatment of her.

The Divine Purpose: You Are a Light

The devotional provides the ultimate “why” behind this challenging command: divine assignment. God placed you in your spouse’s family for a purpose beyond yourself. You are there to “extend His love to them.” This reframes the relationship from a burdensome obligation to a missionary calling.
The analogy of the light is crucial: “No man snuffs out the little light he has because every other person is living in darkness.” If your in-laws are difficult, unbelieving, or unloving, it is not a reason to withdraw your light; it is the very reason to let it shine brighter. Your Christ-like love and patience might be the primary testimony that eventually leads them to salvation.

    The Source of Strength

The call to love in this way is humanly impossible without divine enablement. This is where the Memorise verse (Jude 1:21) finds its application. We can only extend this kind of selfless, covenant love by first “keeping ourselves in the love of God.” It is by abiding in His love that we are filled with the capacity to love others unconditionally.

    Pray this:
“Heavenly Father, I come before You, acknowledging that loving my in-laws can sometimes be a challenge. I ask for Your grace and strength. Help me to keep myself rooted in Your love so that I may love others from its overflow. Give me the wisdom of Ruth to show covenant loyalty and the heart of Christ to serve and honor. I repent of any selfishness, competition, or disrespect. Use me as a light in my extended family, and let my life and actions so reflect Your love that it draws them to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

    Action Steps:

    1. Shift Your Perspective: Reframe your view of your in-laws. See them not as in-laws but as your own family, and see yourself as God’s assigned missionary to them.
    2. Initiate Love: Don’t wait for them to be loving first. Take a practical step this week: a phone call, a visit, a gift, or a word of appreciation.
    3. Pray Specifically: Pray for your in-laws by name every day. Ask God for opportunities to show love and share your faith.
    4. Set Boundaries with Love: If the relationship is toxic, seek wisdom from God and spiritual counsel on how to set healthy, respectful boundaries without withdrawing love or cutting off contact.
    5. Celebrate Their Role: Verbally acknowledge and thank your in-laws for the part they played in raising your spouse.

Remember: Your marriage is a covenant that extends to families. The love you show your in-laws is a direct reflection of your love for your spouse and your obedience to Christ. It is a difficult but high calling that carries a great reward, both in this life and in eternity. Your Christ-like attitude could be the key that unlocks salvation and healing for an entire family.

    MEMORISE:

Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.
    Proverbs 18:21

    READ: James 3:1-12:

1 My brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation.
2 For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.
3 Behold, we put bits in the horses’ mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body.
4 Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth.
5 Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!

6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.
7 For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind:
8 But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.
9 Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God.

10 Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.
11 Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter?
12 Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? either a vine, figs? so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 14 SEPTEMBER 2025 TODAY MESSAGE

It is very important that parents speak the right words into their children’s lives. Speaking the right words plays a huge role in laying a solid foundation for children. Unfortunately, some parents are careless with their words.

They are not diligent in processing what is in their hearts before they speak; therefore, what comes out of their mouths towards their children is not wholesome. Parents should bless their children, not curse them or make negative pronouncements on them.

When Rachel gave birth to her second son, she pronounced a curse on him because of the pain she went through in childbearing. If Jacob had not changed that name to Benjamin, that child would probably have lived a sorrowful life (Genesis 35:18).

Many people live in sorrow because of the evil pronouncements their parents made over them. Parents should not do that to their children; instead, they should use their mouths to bless them every day. They should also learn to keep some things that God reveal to them about their children to themselves so that they don’t expose them to human and demonic attacks. Mary kept the things she had received concerning Jesus in her heart (Luke 2:19). It isn’t everything God shows parents about their children that they should share. Some things are for an appointed time, they should wait for that time.

Parents should also not share everything about what is going on in their children’s lives on social media. Social media is a marketplace with different kinds of people. If Mary or Joseph had been careless about the whereabouts of Jesus when God told them to leave for Egypt, Herod could have found a means to kill him in Egypt. Parents should be wise about sharing their children’s information online. Some children have gotten into the wrong hands because their parents were careless.

Deuteronomy 6:6-9 says that parents must teach their children God’s ways. They must tell them about His laws in the morning, noon, and night, and use every opportunity to drill God’s word into their minds. If you’re a parent, use your mouth to raise your children, not tear them down. My mother would always bless me by saying that when I call one person, hundreds will come running, and today, those blessings have truly manifested in my life.

Let your words be seasoned with grace always (Colossians 4:6). Let your lips be a wellspring of life to your children. Let them always know they will meet words of life, not death, on your lips.

    KEY POINT

Parents must speak life to their children daily

    BIBLE IN ONE YEAR

    Hosea 1-4

HYMN 59: I WANT TO BE LIKE JESUS

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 14 SEPTEMBER 2025 COMMENTARY

    MEMORISE: Proverbs 18:21 (KJV)
“Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.”
This verse is not a metaphor; it is a spiritual law. Words are containers of power. They can be conduits of creative, life-giving force or destructive, death-dealing force. The “fruit” refers to the tangible consequences—blessing or cursing—that inevitably manifest from the words we consistently speak.

    BIBLE READING: James 3:1-12 (KJV)
This passage provides a sobering analysis of the tongue’s power. James describes it as a small rudder that steers a large ship, a small spark that sets a great forest on fire, and an untamable world of evil. He concludes that blessing and cursing should not come from the same mouth, just as a spring cannot yield both fresh and salt water. This underscores the need for intentional, Spirit-controlled speech, especially for those in authority like parents.

The Parent’s Tongue: A Tool of Construction or Destruction

Daddy Adeboye focuses this message on one of the most powerful applications of Proverbs 18:21: parenting. A parent’s words carry immense weight because they are spoken from a position of God-given authority over a child’s life. The devotional interprets that parents are not just caregivers but prophets and builders over their children. Every word spoken is either a brick used to build a foundation of confidence and destiny or a wrecking ball that tears it down.

    The Peril of Careless Words

The example of Rachel (Genesis 35:18) is a stark warning. In a moment of pain and frailty, she spoke a curse over her newborn son, Benoni (“son of my sorrow”). Jacob’s immediate act of renaming him Benjamin (“son of the right hand”) was not merely semantic; it was a prophetic act to cancel the curse and release a blessing. The interpretation is clear: parents must be “diligent in processing what is in their hearts before they speak.” Emotions like anger, disappointment, or exhaustion must not be allowed to dictate declarations over a child’s destiny.

    The Wisdom of Strategic Silence

The devotional provides a crucial second layer to the power of words: the power of silence. Using Mary as an example (Luke 2:19), the message teaches that not every revelation about a child should be spoken publicly. Some things are to be “kept in the heart”—treasured and protected until God’s appointed time. Sharing a child’s prophetic destiny or personal struggles prematurely can expose them to “human and demonic attacks,” such as envy, witchcraft, or premature opposition, much like how Herod would have sought Jesus in Egypt if Joseph had been careless.

The Danger of Social Media Oversharing

This principle is applied to the modern context of social media. Platforms are described as a “marketplace with different kinds of people,” implying the presence of both the good and the malicious. Posting a child’s location, achievements, struggles, or intimate details can make them vulnerable to predators, identity thieves, and spiritual attacks. Discretion is not a lack of celebration but a form of spiritual protection.

The Mandate to Saturate with God’s Word

The positive instruction is drawn from Deuteronomy 6:6-9. Parents are commanded to be the primary spiritual instructors of their children, using their words to constantly “drill God’s word into their minds.” This isn’t a occasional activity but a continuous, integrated practice—”when you sit at home, when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.” The goal is to create a home environment saturated with the life-giving truth of Scripture, which forms a protective shield around a child’s soul.

The Testimony of a Blessed Life

Daddy Adeboye’s personal testimony about his mother’s words confirms the principle. Her specific, faith-filled blessing over him (“when I call one person, hundreds will come running”) shaped his reality and has seen tangible fulfillment in his global ministry. This shows that parental blessings are not mere well-wishes; they are prophetic declarations that activate divine purpose.

    Pray this:
“Heavenly Father, I repent for every careless word I have spoken over my children (or future children). I break every curse, negative pronouncement, or word of death spoken over them, in the name of Jesus. Fill my heart with Your love and wisdom so that my words may be seasoned with grace. Make my tongue a wellspring of life. Help me to use my words to bless, instruct, and build them up in the ways of the Lord. Grant me the discernment to know what to share and what to treasure in my heart. I commit to being a parent who speaks life and covers my children in prayer and wisdom. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

    Action Steps:

    1. Perform a Word Audit: Reflect on the common phrases and labels you use with your children. Are they life-giving (e.g., “you are kind,” “you are capable,” “God has a plan for you”) or destructive (e.g., “you are so clumsy,” “you never listen,” “you are just like your difficult relative”)?
    2. Establish a Blessing Ritual: Intentionally speak a Scriptural blessing over your children daily, perhaps at bedtime or before they leave for school.
    3. Practice Silence: Before sharing news about your child on social media or with friends, ask: “Is this necessary? Is this safe? Does this honor my child and protect their dignity?”
    4. Saturate with Scripture: Choose a verse for the week and find creative ways to discuss it as a family (e.g., at mealtimes, in the car).
    5. Cancel Negative Words: If you have spoken a negative word in a moment of frustration, apologize to your child and verbally cancel it by speaking a blessing instead.

Remember: Your home is to be a sanctuary of life-giving words. Your tongue, as a parent, holds the power to shape eternity. Use it to prophesy life, to declare destiny, to teach truth, and to build an unshakable foundation of love and identity in the hearts of your children.

    TOPIC: RUN WITH THE VISION

    MEMORISE:

And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:
    Joel 2:28

    READ: Numbers 14:1-9:

1 And all the congregation lifted up their voice, and cried; and the people wept that night.
2 And all the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron: and the whole congregation said unto them, Would God that we had died in the land of Egypt! or would God we had died in this wilderness!
3 And wherefore hath the Lord brought us unto this land, to fall by the sword, that our wives and our children should be a prey? were it not better for us to return into Egypt?
4 And they said one to another, Let us make a captain, and let us return into Egypt.
5 Then Moses and Aaron fell on their faces before all the assembly of the congregation of the children of Israel.

6 And Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, which were of them that searched the land, rent their clothes:
7 And they spake unto all the company of the children of Israel, saying, The land, which we passed through to search it, is an exceeding good land.
8 If the Lord delight in us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it us; a land which floweth with milk and honey.
9 Only rebel not ye against the Lord, neither fear ye the people of the land; for they are bread for us: their defence is departed from them, and the Lord is with us: fear them not.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 13 SEPTEMBER 2025 TODAY MESSAGE

In today’s memory verse, God promised that He would pour out His Spirit in the last days, and old men will dream dreams while the young men will see visions. Whether you are old or young, God wants you to do exploits with His Spirit that lives in you.

When God gives you a vision, He expects you to run with it. You may encounter obstacles, but you must see beyond them. For example, in Numbers 13 and 14, Moses sent 12 spies to search the Promised Land and bring him a report. The 12 spies returned with giant grapes to show that the land was indeed flowing with milk and honey; however, ten of them complained that there were giants in the land.

Caleb and Joshua, who had a clear vision of God’s promise, said, “We saw what you saw with our physical eyes, but if this land eats up its inhabitants, then there would be no people there. God gave us the vision, and He will help us take the land. Let’s go ahead and possess the land.” The Bible says in Numbers 32:11-12 that while all the children of Israel in that generation perished, only Joshua and Caleb made it to the Promised Land.

Beloved, the vision God has given to you will sustain you and prolong your days. No matter your age, if you can still see what God wants you to see clearly and are ready to pursue it, He will ensure that He keeps you alive and in good shape. Abraham was 75 years old when God called him to go to a land He would show him (Genesis 12:1-4). Because he was willing to run with this vision, God kept him alive until he was 175 years old (Genesis 25:7-8).

If God has given you a vision, run with it; do not give in to any obstacle. Also, do not run ahead of God, as this will only lead you into trouble. Habakkuk 2:3 says, “For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.” This means that you need patience to run with the vision God has given you (Hebrews 12:1). This way, you will not make hasty and rash decisions as you pursue the vision. I pray that you will fulfil every vision that God has given to you, in Jesus’ name.

    KEY POINT

If God has given you a vision, run with it.

    BIBLE IN ONE YEAR

    Daniel 9-12

    HYMN 12: ONWARD CHRISTIAN SOLDIERS

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 13 SEPTEMBER 2025 COMMENTARY

    MEMORISE: Joel 2:28 (KJV)
“And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:”
This prophecy, fulfilled at Pentecost (Acts 2:17), declares God’s intention to communicate His plans and purposes supernaturally to His people, regardless of age or status. Dreams and visions are divine downloads—God’s way of painting a picture of His will for our lives and His kingdom. It is an invitation into co-laborship with the Holy Spirit.

    BIBLE READING: Numbers 14:1-9 (KJV)
This passage captures the critical moment after the spies return from Canaan. The majority report of the ten spies focuses on the obstacles: the giants, the fortified cities, and their own perceived weakness (v. 1-4, 31-33). Their vision was clouded by fear. In stark contrast, Caleb and Joshua saw through the eyes of faith. They saw the same giants but focused on the superior reality of God’s promise and power (v. 7-9). Their report was not a denial of the challenges but a confession of God’s ability to overcome them.

    The Life-and-Death Power of Vision

Daddy Adeboye’s core message is that a God-given vision is not a mere suggestion; it is a life-sustaining force. The contrasting fates of the twelve spies are presented as the ultimate consequence of how we respond to vision. The ten who rejected the vision perished in the wilderness—a life of aimless wandering and unbelief. Joshua and Caleb, who embraced and championed the vision, were not only preserved but also prolonged. Their faith literally added years to their lives and strength to their bodies, enabling them to outlive an entire generation and enter their destiny. This establishes that clinging to God’s vision is a key to vitality and longevity.

    Vision Transcends Age

The devotional powerfully uses Abraham’s call at age 75 to dismantle the excuse of age. A God-given vision is ageless. It is meant to give purpose and direction at every stage of life. For the young, it provides a focused path amidst life’s distractions. For the old, it provides a reason to remain vibrant, useful, and hopeful. The vision itself becomes the engine that keeps one going, as it did for Abraham for 100 years after his call.

The Balanced Pursuit: Faith and Patience

A crucial part of the interpretation is the balance required in pursuing a vision. We are commanded to “run with it” with relentless faith, refusing to be stopped by “giants” or obstacles. However, we are also warned not to “run ahead of God.” This is the delicate dance between active faith and patient trust.

    • Faith without patience leads to rash decisions, burning out, and trying to manufacture God’s promise in our own strength and timing (e.g., Abraham and Hagar).
    • Patience without faith leads to complacency, delay, and missing the “appointed time” (kairos moment) of God.

Habakkuk 2:3 is the guiding principle: the vision has an appointed time. Our job is to actively prepare and obediently move as God directs, while trusting His perfect timing for its full manifestation.

    The Vision as Your Sustenance

The profound takeaway is that the vision itself is your sustenance on the journey. When challenges arise, remembering what God showed you will give you the strength to continue. It is the “evidence of things not seen” (Hebrews 11:1) that makes the present difficulties bearable. The vision keeps you focused on the promise land when you are in the wilderness; it reminds you of the harvest when you are in the season of sowing.

    Pray this:
“Heavenly Father, thank You for the dreams and visions You have poured into my spirit. Forgive me for the times I have focused on the giants instead of Your promise. Holy Spirit, sharpen the vision within me. Grant me the courage of Caleb to run with it, confronting every obstacle with faith. And grant me the patience of Habakkuk to wait for its appointed time, trusting in Your perfect schedule. Let this vision sustain me, prolong my days, and keep me in vibrant health until I have seen every part of it fulfilled for Your glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

    Action Steps:

    1. Define Your Vision: If God has given you a vision, write it down clearly (Habakkuk 2:2). Revisit it regularly to keep it fresh in your heart and mind.
    2. Identify Your Giants: What are the specific obstacles (fear, finances, lack of skill, opposition) that are causing you to doubt the vision? Write them down.
    3. Counter with Scripture: For each giant, find a Bible promise that asserts God’s power and faithfulness. Speak these promises over your obstacles daily.
    4. Move with Obedience: What is one practical, immediate step God is asking you to take toward the vision this week? Do it in faith, no matter how small it seems.
    5. Cultivate Patience: Remind yourself that God’s clock is perfect. Use waiting periods to prepare, pray, and grow in character for the fulfillment of the vision.

Remember: Your vision is your inheritance and your lifeline. It is the picture of your future that God holds in trust for you. Guard it, feed it with faith, and run with it with patient endurance. The same God who gave you the vision is committed to bringing it to pass. He who promised is faithful.
