    MEMORISE

And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.
    1 Samuel 15:22

    READ: 1 Samuel 15:1-28

Samuel also said unto Saul, The Lord sent me to anoint thee to be king over his people, over Israel: now therefore hearken thou unto the voice of the words of the Lord.
Thus saith the Lord of hosts, I remember that which Amalek did to Israel, how he laid wait for him in the way, when he came up from Egypt.
Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass.
And Saul gathered the people together, and numbered them in Telaim, two hundred thousand footmen, and ten thousand men of Judah.
And Saul came to a city of Amalek, and laid wait in the valley.

And Saul said unto the Kenites, Go, depart, get you down from among the Amalekites, lest I destroy you with them: for ye shewed kindness to all the children of Israel, when they came up out of Egypt. So the Kenites departed from among the Amalekites.
And Saul smote the Amalekites from Havilah until thou comest to Shur, that is over against Egypt.
And he took Agag the king of the Amalekites alive, and utterly destroyed all the people with the edge of the sword.
But Saul and the people spared Agag, and the best of the sheep, and of the oxen, and of the fatlings, and the lambs, and all that was good, and would not utterly destroy them: but every thing that was vile and refuse, that they destroyed utterly.
10 Then came the word of the Lord unto Samuel, saying,
11 It repenteth me that I have set up Saul to be king: for he is turned back from following me, and hath not performed my commandments. And it grieved Samuel; and he cried unto the Lord all night.

12 And when Samuel rose early to meet Saul in the morning, it was told Samuel, saying, Saul came to Carmel, and, behold, he set him up a place, and is gone about, and passed on, and gone down to Gilgal.
13 And Samuel came to Saul: and Saul said unto him, Blessed be thou of the Lord: I have performed the commandment of the Lord.
14 And Samuel said, What meaneth then this bleating of the sheep in mine ears, and the lowing of the oxen which I hear?
15 And Saul said, They have brought them from the Amalekites: for the people spared the best of the sheep and of the oxen, to sacrifice unto the Lord thy God; and the rest we have utterly destroyed.
16 Then Samuel said unto Saul, Stay, and I will tell thee what the Lord hath said to me this night. And he said unto him, Say on.

17 And Samuel said, When thou wast little in thine own sight, wast thou not made the head of the tribes of Israel, and the Lord anointed thee king over Israel?
18 And the Lord sent thee on a journey, and said, Go and utterly destroy the sinners the Amalekites, and fight against them until they be consumed.
19 Wherefore then didst thou not obey the voice of the Lord, but didst fly upon the spoil, and didst evil in the sight of the Lord?
20 And Saul said unto Samuel, Yea, I have obeyed the voice of the Lord, and have gone the way which the Lord sent me, and have brought Agag the king of Amalek, and have utterly destroyed the Amalekites.
21 But the people took of the spoil, sheep and oxen, the chief of the things which should have been utterly destroyed, to sacrifice unto the Lord thy God in Gilgal.

22 And Samuel said, Hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.
23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the Lord, he hath also rejected thee from being king.
24 And Saul said unto Samuel, I have sinned: for I have transgressed the commandment of the Lord, and thy words: because I feared the people, and obeyed their voice.
25 Now therefore, I pray thee, pardon my sin, and turn again with me, that I may worship the Lord.

26 And Samuel said unto Saul, I will not return with thee: for thou hast rejected the word of the Lord, and the Lord hath rejected thee from being king over Israel.
27 And as Samuel turned about to go away, he laid hold upon the skirt of his mantle, and it rent.
28 And Samuel said unto him, The Lord hath rent the kingdom of Israel from thee this day, and hath given it to a neighbour of thine, that is better than thou.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 5 MAY 2025 TODAY MESSAGE

Yesterday, I mentioned the importance of obeying God at all times because He wrote the script for your life. Not only did He write the script, He is also the Executive Producer, Producer, and Director of the play.

Psalm 33:11 says, “The counsel of the LORD standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations.” What God wrote in His play is what we are acting out.

Actors aren’t meant to do what they like on stage; whatever the author of a play has written is what must be acted out. If some actors are proving stubborn, all a director needs to do is replace them. There are many examples of people in RCCG who had a role to play in God’s plan, but they either left the church or decided to disobey God. Since God’s agenda must be fulfilled, He simply replaced them, and they lost out on the things He had in store for them.

God can never be left without options. The moment He calls on one fellow to do something and the person disobeys, He will prepare another person to take over. An example is King Saul; the moment he started to disobey God’s instructions, He sent Samuel to anoint David as king in his stead (1 Samuel 16:1). When footballers are playing on a field, and one of them misbehaves or is not meeting up to the coach’s expectations, that fellow might be replaced immediately.

Disobedience positions people for replacement. In today’s Bible reading, God gave Saul a special assignment and told him exactly how to go about it. He, however, disobeyed God and decided to do things his own way. His disobedience was a sin before God and he got replaced. Another person who got replaced because of his disobedience to divine instruction was Eli. Although God had given his ancestor, Phinehas, the covenant of everlasting priesthood in Numbers 25:11-13, He revoked it when Eli started acting his own script on the stage (1 Samuel 2:27-36). He was eventually replaced by Samuel, his protegee I Samuel 3:11-20).

Beloved, God loves you so much, but if you start disobeying His instructions deliberately, you have set yourself against His will. Those who keep disobeying Him will eventually get replaced if they don’t repent. Do not be like them; follow the instructions of the Executive Producer, Producer, and Director of your life.

Play your part in His script obediently, and you will experience His glory in all aspects of your life.

    PRAYER POINT

Lord, You are the Executive Producer, Producer, and Director of my life; please help me to obey Your instructions at all times.

RCCG HYMN 33: GUIDE ME, O THOU GREAT JEHOVAH!

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 5 MAY 2025 COMMENTARY

    Memorise: 1 Samuel 15:22 (KJV)

This verse is the central theme of the devotional—God values obedience more than religious rituals or good intentions.

Bible Reading: 1 Samuel 15:1-28 (KJV)

This passage recounts King Saul’s disobedience in sparing Agag and the best livestock (against God’s clear command). As a result:

    • Samuel declares: “Because thou hast rejected the word of the Lord, He hath also rejected thee from being king.” (v. 23)
    • Saul’s punishment: Loss of his dynasty (v. 28).

    Key Lessons from the Devotional:

    1. Life Is a Divine Play—God Is the Director

    • Psalm 33:11 confirms that God’s plans are eternal—He has already written the script.
    • Illustration: Just as actors must follow the script, believers must follow God’s Word (John 14:15).
    • Warning: Those who rebel (like Saul, Eli) are replaced (1 Samuel 16:1, 1 Samuel 2:30-35).

    2. Disobedience Leads to Replacement

    • Biblical Examples:
      • King Saul (1 Samuel 15:26) → Replaced by David.
      • Eli’s Priesthood (1 Samuel 2:30-35) → Replaced by Samuel.
      • Judas Iscariot (Acts 1:20) → Replaced by Matthias.
    • Modern Application:
      • In ministry, business, or personal destiny, God’s work continues—with or without us.
      • If we disobey, He raises others (Matthew 21:43).

    3. Partial Obedience = Disobedience

    • Saul thought he could:
      • Keep Agag (pride).
      • Save the best livestock (“for sacrifice”).
    • God’s Response: “Rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft” (1 Samuel 15:23).
    • Lesson: We cannot negotiate with God’s commands (James 2:10).

    4. Why Does God Replace People?

    • His Plans Must Be Fulfilled (Isaiah 14:27).
    • He Is Sovereign (Daniel 4:35).
    • He Gives Free Will but Holds Us Accountable (Deuteronomy 30:19).

    5. How to Avoid Replacement

    1. Seek God’s Will First (Proverbs 3:5-6).
    2. Obey Completely (Joshua 1:8).
    3. Repent Quickly When You Fail (1 John 1:9).
    4. Stay Humble (James 4:6).

    Modern-Day Applications

    In Leadership:

    • Pastors, CEOs, parents—don’t assume your position is permanent.
    • Example: Eli was a high priest, but his sons’ rebellion cost him God’s favor.

    In Personal Growth:

    • God may be calling you to pray more, give, evangelize, etc.
    • Delayed obedience = disobedience.

    In Ministry:

    • Many start well but fall away due to pride, greed, or compromise.
    • Stay faithful (1 Corinthians 4:2).

    Warning vs. Hope

    • Warning: “No one is irreplaceable in God’s kingdom.”
    • Hope: “If you repent, God restores” (Joel 2:25).

    Conclusion: Choose Obedience

God’s script for your life is perfect, but you must follow His directions.

    • Saul’s Mistake: He thought his way was better.
    • David’s Success: He was “a man after God’s own heart” (Acts 13:22).

Will you obey fully or risk replacement?

    Prayer Response:

“Father, forgive me for any disobedience in my life. Help me to follow Your Word completely, not leaning on my own understanding. Let me not be replaced in Your divine plan. Use me for Your glory. Amen.”

    Final Encouragement:
“God’s plans are unstoppable—but you get to choose whether you’ll be part of them.”
    Will you obey today?

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end
    Jeremiah 29:11

    BIBLE TEXT: Psalm 139:13-17

13 For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb.
14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.
15 My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
16 Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.
17 How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 4 MAY 2025 TODAY MESSAGE

When I got born again over 50 years ago, I had many questions because I was an academic. As a baby Christian, I had a lot of questions, and I believe my pastor would probably have gotten tired of me if I had asked all of them. I had questions like, “Is it true that God knows the end from the beginning? If yes, did He know that Adam and Eve would eat the forbidden fruit? If He knows the end from the beginning, then He should have definitely known that Adam and Eve would eat the forbidden fruit.

If He knew that they were going to eat the forbidden fruit, why did He plant it? If He planted it, and they ate it as He knew they were going to, why was it an issue?” I had many such questions, and eventually, I turned to God and said, “Daddy, You see my heart; You know I am not issuing You queries. I just want to understand Your word better. Can You please answer these questions?” Finally, I got an answer from God. learnt from Him that the whole world is a stage, and all of us are actors, just as Shakespeare, an English poet, had written. There is a play written by the Almighty God Himself, and this is why Hebrews 10:7 says in reference to Jesus:

Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.

Acts 15:18 says, “Known unto God are all His works, from the beginning of the world.” Before you were born, God wrote a play, and you and I are to be actors in it. He is the Executive Producer, Producer, and even the Director, and we must follow His instructions to be able to function properly and play our parts according to His design and desire. You can rest assured that His plans for you are great. Today’s memory verse says that God’s thoughts towards you are those of peace and not evil to bring you to an expected end in Him.

Beloved, God has a great plan for your life, and He intends for you to fulfil it so you can enjoy His peace. However, you must follow His script as it is contained in His word. Trust and obey His word, and He will bring you to a glorious end.

    ACTION POINT

Glory awaits you if you live your life strictly according to God’s word.

    BIBLE IN ONE YEAR

    1 Chronicles 17-19

RCCG HYMN 23: TAKE MY LIFE AND LET IT BE

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 4 MAY 2025 COMMENTARY

    Memorise: Jeremiah 29:11 (KJV)

This foundational Scripture assures us that God’s plans for us are good, purposeful, and filled with hope. No matter what we face, His ultimate intention is peace, fulfillment, and a glorious destiny.

    Bible Reading: Psalm 139:13-17 (KJV)

This passage reveals that God intricately designed us before birth and wrote our life’s script in His book. We are not accidents; we are divinely orchestrated.

    Key Lessons from the Devotional:

    1. God Knows the End from the Beginning (Isaiah 46:10)

    • The author’s early questions (about Adam, Eve, and free will) reflect a deep theological truth: God is sovereign, yet humans have moral responsibility.
    • Divine Foreknowledge ≠ Divine Causation:
      • God knew Adam and Eve would sin, but He allowed it because He already had a redemptive plan (Genesis 3:15, John 3:16).
      • The forbidden fruit was a test of obedience, not a trap (Deuteronomy 30:19).

    2. Life Is a Divine Play—We Are Actors in God’s Script

    • Hebrews 10:7 (Jesus’ words):“Lo, I come… to do Thy will, O God.”
      • Jesus lived according to the Father’s script (John 6:38).
    • Acts 15:18:“Known unto God are all His works from the beginning of the world.”
      • Before creation, God wrote the story of humanity, including your role.
    • Illustration: Like a movie director, God:
      • Wrote the script (His Word).
      • Casts each person (Jeremiah 1:5).
      • Guides the scenes (Proverbs 16:9).
      • But unlike actors in a film, we have free will to obey or rebel.

    3. God’s Plans Are Good—But We Must Follow His Word

    • Jeremiah 29:11 Revisited:
      • God’s thoughts = peace, hope, a future.
      • But this requires our cooperation (Joshua 1:8, Romans 12:2).
    • Example of Jesus:
      • He fulfilled His script perfectly (John 17:4).
      • Result: Victory, salvation, and exaltation (Philippians 2:9-11).
    • Warning:
      • If we ignore God’s script (like Jonah), we face chaos and correction.
      • If we follow it (like Joseph), we see promotion and purpose.

    4. How to Align with God’s Script for Your Life

    1. Seek God in Prayer (Jeremiah 33:3).
      • Like the author, ask God for understanding.
    2. Study the Bible Daily (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
      • God’s Word is the script—read it!
    3. Obey the Holy Spirit’s Guidance (John 16:13).
      • He is the “Director” who whispers your next lines.
    4. Trust God’s Timing (Ecclesiastes 3:1).
      • Every scene in your life has a divine purpose.

    Common Misconceptions Addressed

“If God controls everything, why do bad things happen?”
Answer: God permits free will and uses even evil for good (Genesis 50:20, Romans 8:28).

“Does God predestine some to fail?”
Answer: No—He desires all to be saved (2 Peter 3:9), but He respects our choices.

Conclusion: Your Role in God’s Masterpiece

    • You are not an accident. God wrote your story before you were born.
    • Your choices matter. Will you follow His script or rewrite it?
    • The ending is glorious if you trust and obey (Isaiah 1:19).

    Prayer Response:

“Heavenly Father, thank You for writing my life’s story with love and purpose. Forgive me for times I’ve ignored Your script. Help me to seek Your will daily, trust Your timing, and play my part faithfully for Your glory. Amen.”

    Final Encouragement:
“Life is God’s theater—you are both the actor and the audience. Play your part well, and one day, you’ll see the masterpiece He created.”

    TOPIC: EXCELLENCE BY THE SPIRIT

    MEMORISE

Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king thought to set him over the whole realm
    Daniel 6:5

    BIBLE TEXT: Acts 6:1-8

And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration.
2 Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables.
3 Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.
4 But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.

5 And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch:
6 Whom they set before the apostles: and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them.
7 And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.
8 And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 3 MAY 2025 TODAY MESSAGE

When people say, “You can do better than your best,” they mean that a person can still improve on his or her greatest achievement.

However, when we talk about excellence, it means that something is so good that it cannot be improved upon.

In Luke 1:31-32, the angel told Mary that the baby she was about to conceive would be great. In Philippians 2:9-11, the Bible says that God gave Him a name that is above all names.

John 3:34 also says that God gave Jesus the Holy Spirit without measure. What determines how great a believer will become is how full of the Holy Spirit he or she is. Jesus was excellent because He did not carry the Holy Spirit in a measure; He was totally full of the Holy Spirit.

One of my children once came to me and asked, “Daddy, do you know the Bible very well? Who is Prochorus?” | asked, “Is that name in the Bible?” He then said, “I thought you said you know the Bible.” He asked again, “Who is Nicanor?” | told him I didn’t know. “Who is Timon?” I said, “You mean Simon?” He said, “No, Timon.” I replied that I didn’t know Timon.

Then, he told me that all the names he mentioned were part of the first seven deacons. This shows that in a group of selected people with the same qualifications and experience, some of them will still stand out as being excellent. They all had the same qualifications; however, when asked to list the names of the first deacons in the Bible, most people will only mention Stephen and Phillip.

In today’s Bible reading, we see that Stephen was excellent and did great wonders and miracles among the people because he was full of faith, power, and the Holy Spirit. Being full of the Holy Spirit is in different levels, and your level of thirst will determine the level of fullness you will operate in. Beloved, to achieve excellence, prioritise being filled with the Holy Spirit at all times. Spend quality time in God’s presence, praising and worshipping Him. As you do this, you will become full of the Holy Spirit, and you will be empowered to excel even above those who are considered to be the best.

OPEN HEAVEN 3 MAY 2025 PRAYER POINT

Holy Spirit, please fill me until I overflow, in Jesus’ name.

    BIBLE IN ONE YEAR

    1 Chronicles 13-16

RCCG HYMN 59: I WANT TO BE LIKE JESUS

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 3 MAY 2025 COMMENTARY

    Memorise: Daniel 6:5 (KJV)

“Then said these men, We shall not find any occasion against this Daniel, except we find it against him concerning the law of his God.”

This verse highlights Daniel’s excellence—so impeccable that his enemies could only attack him through his devotion to God. True excellence is rooted in spiritual integrity and divine empowerment.

    Bible Reading: Acts 6:1-8 (KJV)

This passage introduces the selection of the first seven deacons, focusing particularly on Stephen, who was:

    • “Full of faith and of the Holy Spirit” (v. 5)
    • “Full of grace and power, [doing] great wonders and signs” (v. 8)

Stephen stood out not because of natural ability but because of his spiritual fullness.

    Key Lessons from the Devotional:

    1. Excellence vs. “Better Than Your Best”

    • Human Excellence (Limited): People say, “You can do better than your best,” meaning there’s always room for improvement.
    • Divine Excellence (Unmatched): Biblical excellence is God’s standard—so perfect that it cannot be improved (e.g., Jesus’ sinless life, Hebrews 4:15).

    2. Jesus: The Model of Excellence

    • Greatness Foretold (Luke 1:31-32): Jesus was destined for divine greatness.
    • Exalted Above All (Philippians 2:9-11): God gave Him “the name which is above every name.”
    • Fullness of the Spirit (John 3:34): Jesus operated in unlimited anointing because He had the Holy Spirit “without measure.”

Key Principle: The measure of a believer’s greatness is determined by their fullness of the Holy Spirit.

    3. The Seven Deacons: Why Did Stephen Stand Out?

    • Same Qualifications, Different Impact:
      • All seven were “of good reputation, full of the Spirit and wisdom” (Acts 6:3).
      • Yet, only Stephen and Philip are widely remembered (Acts 6-8).
    • Reason for Stephen’s Excellence:
      • “Full of faith and the Holy Spirit” (Acts 6:5).
      • “Full of grace and power” (Acts 6:8).
      • He did miracles (v. 8) and preached with divine wisdom (Acts 7).

Lesson: Even among equally qualified people, those fully surrendered to the Holy Spirit will rise above the rest.

    4. How to Walk in Excellence

    • Be Filled with the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 5:18):
      • This is not a one-time event but a continuous infilling.
      • “Your level of thirst determines your level of fullness” (Matthew 5:6).
    • Prioritize God’s Presence (Psalm 16:11):
      • Spend time in prayer, worship, and the Word.
      • Stephen’s power came from deep communion with God.
    • Operate in Faith (Hebrews 11:6):
      • Stephen’s miracles were fueled by faith in God’s power.

    5. The Cost of Excellence

    • Opposition: Like Daniel and Stephen, excellence attracts envy and persecution (Acts 6:9-15).
    • Reward: God exalts the excellent (1 Peter 5:6). Stephen’s martyrdom led to Saul’s conversion (Paul the Apostle!)—showing that true excellence leaves a legacy.

Conclusion: How to Pursue Divine Excellence

    1. Seek the Holy Spirit’s Fullness Daily (Luke 11:13).
    2. Cultivate a Life of Prayer & Worship (Acts 6:4).
    3. Serve with Faith & Diligence (Colossians 3:23-24).
    4. Embrace God’s Process—Excellence requires growth and testing (James 1:2-4).
    5. Stand Out for God’s Glory—Don’t blend in; let your light shine (Matthew 5:16).

    Prayer Point:

“Lord, fill me afresh with Your Holy Spirit. Let Your power and grace operate in me so mightily that I walk in divine excellence, leaving a lasting impact for Your kingdom. Amen.”

    Final Encouragement:
“Excellence is not being the best; it is being full of the Best—the Holy Spirit.
Will you pursue His fullness today?

    TOPIC: THE JOURNEY OF LIFE

    MEMORISE

For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light.
    Psalm 36:9

    BIBLE TEXT: Psalm 32.8-9

8 I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.

9 Be ye not as the horse, or as the mule, which have no understanding: whose mouth must be held in with bit and bridle, lest they come near unto thee.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 2 MAY 2025 TODAY MESSAGE

In Genesis 47:7-9, Pharaoh asked Jacob, “How old are you?” Jacob responded, “I have travelled 130 years; my forefathers travelled longer.” The question, ‘How old are you?’ simply means, how far have you gone in the journey of life? The moment you are born, you begin a journey on earth. However, when you die, that journey ends; then, you face eternity either in heaven or hell, depending on whether you gave your life to Jesus Christ or not.

Let me ask you a question: since you’re on a journey on the earth, are you travelling in the right direction? Do you know God’s ordained destination for you?

Today, many people travel through life without seeking to know God’s will concerning their destination – you cannot afford to do that. You were born for a purpose, and if that purpose is not fulfilled, you will answer to the Giver of the life you are living now. Your decisions, whether small or big, will determine your destination in life. In Genesis 13:10-11, Lot decided on where to settle based on how pleasant the place looked without finding out God’s will. That single decision changed the course of his life and those of his descendants forever.

Beloved, the One who set you on this journey has a predetermined destination for you and a map for you to get there. He said in Jeremiah 29:11 that He will bring you to an expected end

While God reveals destinations, He does not provide the full details about the journey all at once. He told Abraham, “Leave your father’s house, and I will take you to a land that I will show you.” He also told the Israelites, “I will take you to a Promised Land.” He showed Joseph that he would become a great ruler, and He also told Peter that He would make him a fisher of men. All these people had an idea of the destination, but the map to get there remained with God. The map that shows how you will fulfil destiny is with God; if you stay close to Him, He will guide you. David said in Psalm 119:105:

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

Beloved, if you lose your relationship with God, you will lose your map, and you will likely arrive at the wrong destination. Stay close to God, and let Him guide all your steps in this journey of life.

    PRAYER POINT

Father, please help me to remain close to You forever so that I can arrive at Your ordained destination for my life, in Jesus’ name.

    BIBLE IN ONE YEAR

    Chronicles 10-12

RCCG HYMN 30: WHEN WE WALK WITH THE LORD

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 2 MAY 2025 COMMENTARY

    1. Life Is a Journey with an Eternal Destination

    • Jacob described his life as a “pilgrimage” (Genesis 47:9), recognizing that earth is temporary, but eternity is forever.
    • Question: Are you living just for earthly gains, or are you preparing for eternity? (Matthew 6:19-20).
    • Warning: If you die without Christ, you face eternal separation from God (Revelation 20:15).

    2. Many Travel Without Seeking God’s Will

    • Lot’s Mistake (Genesis 13:10-11): He chose based on physical attractiveness (Sodom’s lushness) rather than God’s will, leading to destruction.
    • Lesson: Every decision (career, marriage, finances) must be guided by God, not just human reasoning (Proverbs 3:5-6).

    3. God Has a Predestined Plan for You (Jeremiah 29:11)

    • God knows your destination, but He often reveals it step by step (like Abraham—Genesis 12:1).
    • Joseph’s Example: He saw his future in dreams (Genesis 37:5-11), but the process (betrayal, slavery, prison) was unclear until God’s time.
    • Peter’s Calling: Jesus told him, “I will make you a fisher of men” (Matthew 4:19), but Peter didn’t know the full journey (trials, denial, Pentecost).

    4. God’s Word Is Your Roadmap (Psalm 119:105)

    • The Bible is not just a book—it’s God’s GPS for life.
    • Daily Guidance: “A lamp to my feet” (immediate steps) and “a light to my path” (long-term direction).
    • Danger of Drifting: If you neglect God’s Word, you’ll lose direction (Hosea 4:6).

    5. Stay Close to God to Avoid Wrong Turns

    • Example of Samson: He had a divine destiny (Judges 13:5), but compromise led to his downfall (Judges 16:20).
    • Key to Success:
      • Prayer (1 Thessalonians 5:17)
      • Obedience (John 14:15)
      • Fellowship with Believers (Hebrews 10:25)

Conclusion: How to Stay on the Right Path

    1. Surrender Your Life to Christ (If you haven’t)—“For what shall it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his soul?” (Mark 8:36).
    2. Seek God’s Will in Every Decision“In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths” (Proverbs 3:6).
    3. Study the Bible Daily—It’s your map to fulfilling destiny.
    4. Obey Promptings of the Holy Spirit—He is your Guide (John 16:13).
    5. Avoid Lot’s Mistake—Don’t choose based on temporary pleasures; seek eternal rewards.

    Final Warning:
“There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death” (Proverbs 14:12). Only God’s way leads to life!

    Prayer Response:

“Lord Jesus, I surrender my journey to You. Forgive me for times I’ve walked in my own wisdom. Guide me by Your Word and Spirit. Help me to fulfill Your purpose for my life and not miss my divine destination. Amen.”

    Encouragement:
“Life is short. Eternity is long. Walk with God, and you’ll never regret your destination.”

    TOPIC: EARTHSHAKING EVENTS

    MEMORISE:

And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.
    Acts 4:31

    READ: Acts 16:25-26

25 And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.
26 And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one’s bands were loosed.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 1 MAY 2025 TODAY MESSAGE

On the day of Pentecost, the disciples were gathered together in one room and in one accord when suddenly, there came a sound as of a rushing mighty wind (Acts 2:1-4). This wind shook the entire house, and until now, the world has not recovered from that event.

Whether you believe it or not, God is about to shake the whole world. A great revival is here, and you can be a part of it.

In 1979, l attended a Kenneth Hagin campmeeting in Tulsa, Oklahoma, with my Father in the Lord and four other brethren.

We stayed at Mayo Hotel, and very early one morning, my Father in the Lord sent for all of us. When we got to his room, we saw him praying in the Holy Spirit more deeply than we had ever seen him pray before. It was at that meeting that he dropped a bombshell – he was going to be called to glory soon, and I would be succeeding him as the church’s leader. When he said that, we all began to pray fervently. We were still praying when suddenly, the hotel’s engineer came knocking at the door. As I was standing closest to the door, I opened it. The engineer then asked, “What kind of instrument are you playing?” | replied, “We are not playing any instrument; we are praying.” He didn’t believe me, so he entered the room and looked everywhere.

As he was going out, he asked, “What did you say you were doing?” I replied, “We were praying.” Then I asked, “What is wrong?” He said, “The hotel is shaking, and we have traced the source of the vibration to this room.” The building’s foundation was tested in an attempt to trace the cause of the vibration, but nothing was found.

After we left, the hotel was shut down because there were major concerns about the vibration. Since they could not detect the cause of the vibration and they couldn’t possibly have believed that it was as a result of our prayers, the hotel had to be shut down for 30 years. That was an event that preceded the revival we are witnessing in the RCCG today.

When believers pray together in unity, great things happen; we can influence the world effectively and win many souls into the kingdom faster. Beloved, if you want to be part of a revival that will shake the earth and reveal God’s glory, you must become accustomed to fervent prayers in unity with other believers.

    KEY POINT

Fervent prayers in one accord with other believers will birth earth-shaking events and great revivals.

    BIBLE IN ONE YEAR

    1 Chronicles 7-9

HYMN 22: SWEET HOUR OF PRAYER

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 1 MAY 2025 COMMENTARY

    1. The Pattern of Revival: Unity and Prayer (Acts 2:1-4)

The disciples were gathered “in one accord” (unity of purpose) when the Holy Spirit descended like a mighty wind, filling them with power. True revival begins when believers come together in agreement, seeking God’s presence earnestly.

    2. God Shakes the World Through Prayer

The devotional recounts a personal testimony where intense prayer caused a physical vibration in a hotel—so strong that engineers could not explain it. This mirrors biblical accounts (Acts 4:31, Acts 16:26) where prayer triggered supernatural manifestations.

    • When believers pray in unity, God releases His power in ways that defy human logic, preparing the way for revival.

    3. Fervent Prayer Precedes Divine Assignments

The author’s spiritual father received a revelation about his passing and the succession plan during deep prayer. This shows that major spiritual transitions and assignments are often birthed in moments of intense intercession.

    • If you desire God to use you mightily, cultivate a lifestyle of fervent prayer.

    4. The Impact of Corporate Prayer on Revival

The hotel incident was a sign preceding the great revival in RCCG (Redeemed Christian Church of God). This teaches that:

    • Corporate prayer shakes spiritual and physical realms.
    • Revival is not accidental; it is triggered by persistent, faith-filled prayers.
    • Unbelievers may not understand it, but they cannot ignore God’s power.

    5. How to Be Part of the Coming Revival

    • Pray fervently (James 5:16).
    • Pray in unity with other believers (Matthew 18:19-20).
    • Expect supernatural manifestations (Mark 16:17-18).
    • Be bold in witnessing (Acts 4:31).

    Conclusion: A Call to Action

God is raising a generation of believers who will pray with such intensity that the world will be shaken for His glory. Will you be part of this move?

    • Commit to consistent, fervent prayer.
    • Join other believers in corporate intercession.
    • Expect God to do the impossible in your life and community.

As seen in Scripture and this devotional, when God’s people pray with one heart, Heaven responds with power! Let us rise and be part of this end-time revival.

    Prayer Point:
“Lord, fill me with Your Spirit and make me a vessel of revival. As I join other believers in prayer, let Your power shake my world for Your glory. Amen.”

    Final Encouragement:
“The world has yet to see what God can do through a man or woman fully surrendered to Him in prayer.” — (Paraphrase of Charles Finney’s quote). Will you be that person?

Open Heaven 30 April 2025 Devotional: GOD HATES DISUNITY

OPEN HEAVEN 30 APRIL 2025 TODAY DEVOTIONAL

    TOPIC: GOD HATES DISUNITY

    MEMORISE
And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand:
    Matthew 12:25

    READ: Psalm 133:1-3

Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!
    2 It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron’s beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments;
3 As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the Lord commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 30 APRIL 2025 TODAY MESSAGE

Several scriptures clearly tell us that God hates disunity, and He loves it when His children are united. He said in John 13:35 that it is by showing love to one another that people will recognise us as His disciples. God is so particular about unity that He said that if you come to Him with an offering and remember that your brother has something against you, you must go and reconcile with him before returning to give your offering (Matthew 5:23-24).

God wants His children to be united because He knows that there is little we can achieve individually. He knows that the moment we begin to operate as separate entities, it will be easy for the devil to gain entry into our territories, and we will not be able to do much to stop him.

    Ecclesiastes 4:12 says:
And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.

There are many Christians and Christian organisations around the world. In fact, Christianity is considered to be the most popular religion in the world. Why, then, are the governments of some nations establishing anti-Christian policies and persecuting Christians? The major reason is that many of us Christians are living in isolation. If we come together and decree a thing, it will surely come to pass. If we can come together and decide to turn the whole world around for Christ, we will be unstoppable.

When you look at all the times that there have been revivals in the past, one major thing you will discover is that a significant part of the body of Christ was united. At the upper room, when the disciples were all in one accord, the Holy Ghost came down, and three thousand souls were saved on that day. The Bible further says in Acts 2:46-47 that the disciples were united and more and more people were added to the church daily.

Look within your local assembly; is there unity among you? Look at the environment where your church is located; is your local assembly working in unity with the other churches in the community? If we can only put aside our differences and come together to form a united front against the devil, we will discover that nothing will be impossible to us.

    ACTION POINT:

Pray for the unity of all the churches in your community and the body of Christ as a whole.

    1 Chronicles 5-6

HYMN 59: I WANT TO BE LIKE JESUS

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 30 APRIL 2025 COMMENTARY

    1. God’s Heart for Unity

The devotional for today opens with a foundational truth: God hates disunity but loves when His children dwell together in harmony (Psalm 133:1). Scripture repeatedly emphasizes this:

    • John 13:35 – Love among believers proves we are Christ’s disciples.
    • Matthew 5:23-24 – God prioritizes reconciliation over ritual worship.
    • Ephesians 4:3 – We are commanded to “keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.”

Lesson: Unity is not optional; it is a mark of genuine Christianity.

    2. The Danger of Division

Jesus warned in Matthew 12:25 that division leads to destruction. Today’s devotional highlights why:

    • Isolation weakens us. Like a single strand of rope, a lone believer is easily broken (Ecclesiastes 4:12).
    • Division invites demonic attack. Satan exploits strife to infiltrate families, churches, and nations (1 Peter 5:8).

    Example:

    • Many nations persecute Christians because the Church is fragmented. If believers united in prayer and purpose, governments would tremble (Acts 4:31-33).

    Application:

    • Are there unresolved conflicts in your life or church?
    • Do you isolate yourself from other believers?

    3. The Power of Unified Prayer and Action

History proves that revival follows unity:

    • Upper Room (Acts 2:1-4, 41) – The disciples’ unity birthed Pentecost.
    • Early Church (Acts 2:46-47) – Their oneness attracted multitudes to Christ.
    • Modern Revivals – Movements like the Welsh Revival (1904) began with united prayer.

    Key Insight:
Satan fears a united Church. When Christians stand together:

    • Prayers become unstoppable (Matthew 18:19).
    • Cultural strongholds crumble (Joshua 6:1-20).
    • Miracles multiply (Acts 5:12-16).

    Warning:

    • Pride, doctrinal disputes, and personal grievances hinder unity (1 Corinthians 1:10-13).

    4. A Call to Practical Unity

The Open Heaven devotional challenges us to:

    1. Examine Our Relationships – Are we at peace with fellow believers (Romans 12:18)?
    2. Collaborate with Other Churches – Can local congregations unite for evangelism or community impact?
    3. Pray for Global Unity – Intercede for persecuted believers and divided denominations.

    Example:

    • If churches in a city united against crime, poverty, or false ideologies, their collective light would overpower darkness (Matthew 5:14-16).

    5. The Promise of Victory Through Unity

    Ecclesiastes 4:12 assures us:

    • “A threefold cord is not quickly broken.”
    • Christ is the central cord binding us together (Colossians 3:14).

    Prayer:
“Father, break every spirit of division in Your Church. Help us to love as Christ loves, to reconcile quickly, and to unite in prayer and purpose. May our unity confound the enemy and bring revival to our nations, in Jesus’ name. Amen.”

    Final Thought

The devil’s strategy is to divide and conquer, but God’s strategy is to unite and empower. As the early Church turned the world upside down through unity (Acts 17:6), so can we.

    Scripture for Meditation:
“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!” (Psalm 133:1, KJV)

Let us build bridges, not walls, for the glory of God!

OPEN HEAVEN 29 APRIL 2025 TODAY DEVOTIONAL

TOPIC: GUARD YOUR FREEDOM TO WORSHIP

    MEMORISE
Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are escaped.
    Psalm 124:7

    READ: Psalm 100:1-5

1 Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands.
2 Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing.
3 Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.
5 For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 29 APRIL 2025 TODAY MESSAGE

When people are not free to worship God the way they should, it means that their souls are in captivity. For example, when God sent Moses to Pharaoh to release the Israelites, He said, “Let my people go, so they can worship me” (Exodus 5:1).

I thank God for freedom of worship in some nations. To a large extent, in such countries, people can go to church anytime they want and worship God however they want to. In some other nations, however, the government dictates what the church should do and not do.

For example, they try to force pastors to join people of the same gender in marriage. One of the RCCG pastors in a particular country was arrested because he addressed some people as ‘Ladies and gentlemen’. They said it was an insult because not all of them were ladies or gentlemen. The aim of all this is to change the way Christians worship God and force them to worship Him the way unbelievers want them to.

Beloved, God’s standard remains sure. You must not adapt to ungodly practices, especially within the church, just because the people at the top say so. When you adapt, that’s slavery. Slavery, in its simplest terms, is anything that hinders you from living life abundantly and serving God wholeheartedly.

Whenever you see such things around you, guard your heart and your territory. Many Christians are already adhering to the ways of the world because of ungodly policies, and you must pray that those chains of bondage be broken speedily. When the chain of bondage was broken in Egypt, the principal thing that Pharaoh said was, “Go and worship God the way you want.”

Often, policies that endanger people’s souls don’t appear to be evil at first. This is why we must be sober and vigilant as believers.

We must be sensitive and careful about the things we permit within and around us. Many believers keep saying, “It doesn’t matter” until their consciences become seared with the hot iron of immorality and darkness (1 Timothy 4:2). If it doesn’t conform to God’s will, it matters to God, and it should matter to you too.

Beloved, if you have been chained such that you can no longer serve God wholeheartedly, I pray that God will deliver you today. Your soul escapes like a bird from those shackles (Psalm 124:7), and may you enjoy the freedom to worship God in spirit and in truth, in Jesus’ name.

    ACTION POINT:

Thank God if you are able to worship Him freely and pray for deliverance for those who do not enjoy the same freedom

    BIBLE IN ONE YEAR

    1 Chronicles 3-4

HYMN 34: YIELD NOT TO TEMPTATION

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 29 APRIL 2025 COMMENTARY

    1. The Essence of True Worship

Today’s devotional begins by defining spiritual captivity as any force (governmental, cultural, or ideological) that restricts believers from worshipping God according to His Word. Just as Pharaoh held Israel in bondage (Exodus 5:1), modern-day “Pharaohs” seek to:

    • Dictate worship practices (e.g., mandating unbiblical ceremonies like same-sex unions).
    • Suppress biblical truth (e.g., punishing pastors for using terms like “Ladies and Gentlemen”).
    • Normalize compromise by pressuring Christians to conform to worldly standards (Romans 12:2).

Lesson: Freedom to worship is not merely about physical gatherings but about obedience to God’s commands without compromise.

    2. The Battle for Authentic Christianity

The Open Heaven devotional for todaa highlights two fronts of attack:

    1. External Persecution (e.g., governments criminalizing biblical speech).
    2. Internal Compromise (e.g., believers excusing sin as “irrelevant” or “progressive”).

    Biblical Parallel:

    • Daniel’s friends refused to bow to Nebuchadnezzar’s idol (Daniel 3:16-18).
    • Peter and John defied religious authorities to preach Christ (Acts 4:19-20).

Warning: A “seared conscience” (1 Timothy 4:2) develops when we repeatedly justify disobedience.

    Application:

    • Are there areas where societal pressure is silencing your witness?
    • Do you dismiss unbiblical trends as “no big deal”?

    3. The Call to Vigilance and Resistance

    Pastor Adeboye urges believers to:

    • Guard their hearts (Proverbs 4:23) against subtle deceptions.
    • Defend their “territory”—homes, churches, and spheres of influence—from ungodly influences.
    • Pray for deliverance from spiritual bondage (Psalm 124:7).

    Key Insight:
Bondage often begins subtly. Policies that seem “neutral” (e.g., redefining marriage, censoring sermons) are designed to reshape worship.

    Example:

    • The arrest of an RCCG pastor for saying “Ladies and Gentlemen” mirrors Acts 5:28 (“Do not teach in this name!”).

    4. The Promise of Divine Liberation

The devotional closes with a prayer for deliverance, echoing Psalm 124:7. God breaks chains so His people can worship Him “in spirit and truth” (John 4:23-24).

    Encouragement:

    • God’s standard is unchanging (Malachi 3:6).
    • He fights for His people (Exodus 14:14).
    • True freedom is found in obedience to Christ (John 8:36).

    Action Steps for Believers

    1. Audit Your Worship: Are there areas where you’ve compromised to avoid conflict?
    2. Stand Firm: Like Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, refuse to bow to cultural idols (Daniel 3).
    3. Pray Boldly: Intercede for persecuted believers and nations where worship is restricted.
    4. Preach Truth: Speak grace and holiness (Titus 2:11-12).

    Prayer:
“Father, shatter every chain hindering Your people from wholehearted worship. Give us courage to uphold Your truth, sensitivity to discern deception, and faith to trust Your deliverance. May our souls escape every snare, in Jesus’ name. Amen.”

    Final Thought

The world’s standards shift, but God’s Word stands forever (Isaiah 40:8). True worship requires freedom from sin’s bondage and fidelity to Christ’s Lordship. As the psalmist declared, “It was the Lord who broke the snare” (Psalm 124:7). Trust Him to break yours today.

    Scripture for Meditation:
“And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8:32, NKJV)

May we never exchange divine freedom for cultural captivity!

    TOPIC: AVOIDING STRIFE

    MEMORISE
For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.
    James 3:16

    READ: Genesis 13:1-18

And Abram went up out of Egypt, he, and his wife, and all that he had, and Lot with him, into the south.
2 And Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold.
    3 And he went on his journeys from the south even to Bethel, unto the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Bethel and Hai;
4 Unto the place of the altar, which he had make there at the first: and there Abram called on the name of the Lord.
5 And Lot also, which went with Abram, had flocks, and herds, and tents.
6 And the land was not able to bear them, that they might dwell together: for their substance was great, so that they could not dwell together.

7 And there was a strife between the herdmen of Abram’s cattle and the herdmen of Lot’s cattle: and the Canaanite and the Perizzite dwelled then in the land.
8 And Abram said unto Lot, Let there be no strife, I pray thee, between me and thee, and between my herdmen and thy herdmen; for we be brethren.
9 Is not the whole land before thee? separate thyself, I pray thee, from me: if thou wilt take the left hand, then I will go to the right; or if thou depart to the right hand, then I will go to the left.
10 And Lot lifted up his eyes, and beheld all the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered every where, before the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, even as the garden of the Lord, like the land of Egypt, as thou comest unto Zoar.

11 Then Lot chose him all the plain of Jordan; and Lot journeyed east: and they separated themselves the one from the other.
12 Abram dwelled in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelled in the cities of the plain, and pitched his tent toward Sodom.
13 But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the Lordexceedingly.
14 And the Lord said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward:

15 For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever.
16 And I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth: so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, then shall thy seed also be numbered.
17 Arise, walk through the land in the length of it and in the breadth of it; for I will give it unto thee.
18 Then Abram removed his tent, and came and dwelt in the plain of Mamre, which is in Hebron, and built there an altar unto the Lord.

Strife is dangerous; it damages relationships and destroys homes, especially when it is allowed to linger. When Abraham took his nephew, Lot, with him to the land God promised him, he didn’t think that issues would arise between them. Lot enjoyed God’s blessings because of Abraham, yet he wasn’t wise enough to tell his herdsmen to honour and respect Abraham’s herdsmen. Despite this, Abraham didn’t get offended. Instead, he settled the issue with Lot amicably.

He called Lot and said, “Please, let there be no strife between us, for we are brethren.” Abraham valued his relationship with God and his brotherhood with Lot above the issues they were having. He even humbled himself and asked Lot to choose where he wished to go first. Abraham understood something many people do not understand; he knew that whenever you allow strife, you give room to the devil.

During a Festival of Life event of RCCG in London, a Polish couple that had been waiting for the fruit of the womb shared the testimony of how God blessed them with a child. When the husband was sharing the testimony, because English is not his native language, he said, “Last year, I came from Poland to the ministers’ conference because somebody told me that anybody the G.O. touches becomes pregnant.”

My wife was sitting next to me, and she said jokingly, “Don’t touch me; I don’t want another pregnancy.” While we were able to laugh about what the man said because we understood his background, it could also have been misunderstood because of what touches in that context could imply. Indeed, there are more complex cases where misunderstandings can arise between two people because one or both of the parties are not taking account of the background of the other party as they relate with them.

Beloved, learn to consider people’s backgrounds when relating with them; this will help you to avoid unnecessary misunderstandings. There are people who, because of where they are from and the fact that l am old enough to be their parent or grandparent, when they come to see me, l expect them to prostrate. Whereas there are others who, because of where they are from, I do not expect them to prostrate; in fact, I will be surprised if they do. What is a greeting to some people may seem like an insult to you, and if you regard their greeting as an insult, you will develop unnecessary anger and strife, which will give room to satan.

    KEY POINT:

Avoid strife like a plague; it is a doorway to the devil.

    1 Chronicles 1-2

HYMN 59: I WANT TO BE LIKE JESUS

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 28 APRIL 2025 COMMENTARY

    1. The Danger of Strife

Daddy Adeboye begins by warning about the destructive nature of strife. Just as Proverbs 17:14says, “The beginning of strife is like releasing water; therefore, stop contention before a quarrel starts,” unresolved conflict can damage relationships, families, and even spiritual progress.

    • Abraham and Lot’s Example (Genesis 13:1-18)
      • Lot, though blessed through Abraham, allowed his herdsmen to compete with Abraham’s, creating tension.
      • Instead of reacting in pride or anger, Abraham took the initiative to resolve the issue peacefully.
      • He prioritized unity over personal gain, saying, “Let there be no strife between us, for we are brethren.” (Genesis 13:8)

Lesson: Strife opens the door to the devil (Ephesians 4:26-27). Wisdom demands that we pursue peace, even if it means humbling ourselves.

    2. The Power of Humility and Understanding

    Abraham’s response teaches us:

    • Humility prevents conflict. He let Lot choose first, trusting God to provide for him (Genesis 13:9-10).
    • God honors peacemakers. After Lot left, God reaffirmed His covenant with Abraham (Genesis 13:14-17).

    Application:

    • Are you holding onto a grudge?
    • Is there a dispute in your home, workplace, or church that needs resolution?
    • Follow Abraham’s example—be the first to seek peace.

    3. Misunderstandings and Cultural Sensitivity

Pastor Adeboye shares a humorous yet insightful testimony about a Polish couple who misunderstood a statement about pregnancy due to language barriers. This illustrates how:

    • Cultural and linguistic differences can lead to unnecessary strife.
    • We must be patient and considerate in our interactions (Colossians 3:13).

    Example:

    • Some cultures expect deep respect (like prostration), while others do not.
    • If we judge others based on our own cultural expectations, we may take offense where none was intended.

    Lesson:

    • “Be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath” (James 1:19).
    • Seek to understand before being understood.

    4. How to Avoid Strife

    1. Be Proactive in Peacemaking – Like Abraham, address conflicts early.
    2. Walk in Humility – Pride fuels strife (Proverbs 13:10).
    3. Consider Others’ Backgrounds – Avoid assumptions; ask for clarity.
    4. Let Love Cover Offenses – “Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.” (1 Peter 4:8)

    Prayer:

“Father, make me a peacemaker. Help me to walk in humility, understanding, and love, so that I do not give place to the devil through strife. Let Your peace reign in my relationships, in Jesus’ name. Amen.”

    Final Thought:

Strife is a tool of the enemy to divide families, churches, and nations. But God calls us to unity (Psalm 133:1). Like Abraham, let us choose peace over conflict, understanding over assumption, and love over offense.

    Scripture for Meditation:
“If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men.” (Romans 12:18, NKJV)

May this devotional inspire you to pursue peace and reject strife in all areas of life!

    MEMORISE
When the Lord turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream.
    Psalm 126:1

    READ: Psalm 126:1-3

When the Lord turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream.
2 Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The Lord hath done great things for them.
3 The Lord hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 27 APRIL 2025 TODAY MESSAGE

Today’s memory verse says that when God turned the captivity of Zion, it was like a dream. When God gives you some testimonies, you might pinch yourself from time to time to be sure that you are awake and not dreaming.

In Psalm 23:5, David said, “Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies:…” That testimony was good enough, but then he went ahead to say, “.. thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.” I am sure that some of the people around him asked, “What kind of testimony is this? Brother, are you sure you are not exaggerating?”

I’ll share one of such testimonies with you.

While I was a lecturer at the University of lorin, my wife and I had this teapot from which we could pour five cups of tea. Whenever we wanted to eat breakfast, my wife and I would fill the pot. After we have both had two cups of tea, the first person to finish the second cup of tea would usually go for the last cup.

On one occasion. the teapot was full as usual, and after we had both had two cups of tea, we discovered that the pot was empty as we looked at each other with a confused look on our faces, the Lord said to me, “When you were praying, you said, ‘Lord, bless this food, join us as we eat.’ I thought you invited me.” I was thrilled to learn that the Lord Jesus joined us for breakfast. However, when I shared this testimony, the brethren looked at me like I had gone crazy because I said that Jesus drank tea. It became an embarrassment, such that l had to cry to God to show me a similar incident from the Scriptures. Then, He showed me that in John 21, after Jesus had risen from the dead, He appeared to the disciples, and they joined Him at the shore and ate fish and bread with Him. The Lord said that after He rose from the dead, He could eat fish and bread, and if they had tea, He could have drank it with them also.

Beloved, God is able to do exceeding abundantly above your wildest imagination (Ephesians 3:20). I pray for you today that He will give you a testimony that people will find difficult to believe when you share it, in Jesus’ name

    PRAYER POINT:

Father, please bring me into the realm of unbelievable testimonies, in Jesus’ name.

HYMN 26: THERE SHALL BE SHOWERS OF BLESSINGS

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 27 APRIL 2025 COMMENTARY

    1. The Nature of Divine Testimonies

Daddy Adeboye begins by highlighting how God’s interventions can be so overwhelming that they feel surreal—like a dream. This aligns with Psalm 126, where Israel’s restoration was so miraculous that it seemed unbelievable. Similarly, when God moves mightily in our lives, we may struggle to fully grasp His goodness because it surpasses human reasoning (Isaiah 55:8-9).

    2. The Overflowing Blessings of God

Referencing Psalm 23:5, the devotional for today emphasizes that God’s blessings are not just sufficient – they overflow. David’s testimony of an overflowing cup signifies abundance beyond expectation. As believers, we must understand that God’s provision is not limited to our needs but extends to His supernatural abundance (Malachi 3:10, Ephesians 3:20).

    3. A Personal Testimony of Divine Encounter

Pastor Adeboye shares a remarkable experience where Jesus supernaturally joined him and his wife for breakfast, drinking tea from their pot. Some may find this hard to believe, but it aligns with biblical accounts of Jesus eating after His resurrection (Luke 24:41-43; John 21:9-13). This teaches us that:

    • God is present in the ordinary. He is not distant but engages with us in daily life (Matthew 28:20).
    • Divine encounters defy human logic. Just as Jesus ate with His disciples post-resurrection, He can still interact with us in unexpected ways.
    • Testimonies may be misunderstood. Some will doubt supernatural encounters, but we must stand on God’s Word (1 Corinthians 2:14).

    4. God Does the Impossible (Ephesians 3:20)

Open Heaven devotional for today concludes with a powerful prayer for testimonies so extraordinary that they defy human explanation. This aligns with Scripture, where God does “exceedingly abundantly above all we ask or think” (Ephesians 3:20).

    Application for the Reader:

    1. Expect the supernatural. God is not limited by human understanding.
    2. Don’t fear sharing your testimony, even if others doubt. Stand on God’s Word.
    3. Invite God into every area of your life, including the mundane. He desires fellowship with you.
    4. Believe for the impossible. If God could turn Zion’s captivity into a dream-like joy, He can do the same for you.

    Prayer:
“Father, give me a testimony so great that it glorifies Your name. Open my eyes to see Your hand in every area of my life, and let my cup overflow with Your blessings, in Jesus’ name. Amen.”

    Final Thought:

God’s ways are higher than ours. Whether through miraculous provision, divine encounters, or supernatural breakthroughs, He remains the God of the impossible. Like Daddy Adeboye, may we walk in faith, expecting testimonies that declare His glory!

Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,
    Ephesians 3:20

    READ: 1 Corinthians 15:57-58

57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 26 APRIL 2025 TODAY MESSAGE

It is very good to share testimonies about God’s goodness to you as it will boost the faith of others and position you to receive more from Him. There are, however, some testimonies that people will either find hard to believe or conclude that God is partial. Several years ago, one of my spiritual sons visited me and began to share testimonies about God’s blessings over him, his family, and his ministry.

At a point, he stopped and said, “Daddy, I’m the only one talking; you haven’t said anything about what God is doing for you.” I said, “Son, if I tell you all that God is doing for me, you will say that God is partial.” I pray, in the name of Jesus, that God will give you testimonies that will make people say, “Are you the only one serving God?”

To receive above-and-beyond testimonies, you must be willing to serve God above and beyond the ordinary. You must also be willing to pray and fast often. In 2 Corinthians 11:27, Paul said, “..in fastings often…” In 1 Thessalonians 5:17, he advised, “Pray without ceasing.” No wonder the Bible says that God performed special miracles through Paul (Acts 19:11-12).

God used him for extraordinary miracles because he gave himself to serving God extraordinarily. When you sow your service to God sparingly, you will reap containable miracles (2 Corinthians 9:6). However, when you give yourself to God’s will and work bountifully, you will receive testimonies that exceed what you can ask or imagine.

A lady kept trusting God for a husband until she passed childbearing age. During one of our services, l asked everybody to ask God for something. She told God, “I have waited on you for a long time for a husband, but I haven’t gotten one; however, it doesn’t matter because I will serve you all the days of my life.” A few days later, a young man proposed to her. She looked at him and said, “Are you sure? You better go and pray again.” The man said, “I am sure; I have prayed.” The lady said, “Don’t you want children? I have passed childbearing age.” The man said, “I lost my wife, and I already have children by her.” After they got married, she got pregnant and delivered a set of twins! God saw her heart and gave her a testimony above and beyond what she could have asked for. May you receive miracles that are above and beyond your wildest imaginations, in Jesus’ name.

    KEY POINT:

Serving God unreservedly is the key to having testimonies that are above and beyond.

    BIBLE IN ONE YEAR

    2 Kings 22-23

HYMN 23: TAKE MY LIFE AND LET IT BE

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 26 APRIL 2025 COMMENTARY

Today’s devotional, anchored on Ephesians 3:20 (“Now unto Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us”), reveals that God’s blessings are not limited by human expectations but by our willingness to serve Him beyond the ordinary. Through biblical principles and real-life testimonies, we learn that miracles are proportional to our surrender.

    1. Testimonies That Provoke Awe (Divine “Partiality”)

    • Daddy Adeboye’s Humble Confession:
      • His spiritual son assumed God was “partial” because the testimonies were too great to share (v. 20).
      • Principle“The more you serve God extraordinarily, the more He blesses you extraordinarily” (Luke 6:38).
    • Biblical Parallel:
      • Paul’s “Special Miracles” (Acts 19:11-12) came because he served “in fastings often” (2 Corinthians 11:27) and “prayed without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17).

    Application:

    • Don’t envy others’ blessings. Emulate their dedication.
    • Prayer + Fasting + Radical Obedience = Uncontainable Testimonies.

    2. The Law of Sowing and Reaping in God’s Kingdom

    • 2 Corinthians 9:6“He who sows sparingly will reap sparingly…”
      • Ordinary Service → Ordinary Blessings.
      • Extraordinary Service → Exceeding Abundance (Ephesians 3:20).
    • The Lady’s Miracle (Beyond Childbearing Age):
      • She surrendered her desire for marriage, saying, “I will serve You all my life.”
      • God’s Response: A husband + twins (beyond biology).
      • KeyHer heart posture—total surrender—activated Ephesians 3:20.

    Self-Examination:

    • Are you serving God conditionally (“Bless me, then I’ll commit”)?
    • Or unconditionally (“Even if You don’t bless me, I’m Yours”)?

    3. How to Position Yourself for “Above-and-Beyond” Miracles

    1. Serve Sacrificially (Romans 12:1).
      • Like Paul, give God your time, gifts, and comforts.
    2. Pray and Fast Consistently (Matthew 17:21).
      • Fasting breaks limitations (Isaiah 58:6).
    3. Trust God’s Timing (Habakkuk 2:3).
      • The lady waited years—but her surrender triggered sudden breakthrough.

    Prophetic Prayer:
“Father, give me a heart that serves You beyond blessings. Let my obedience position me for testimonies that silence doubters, in Jesus’ name!”

    4. God’s Power Works Through Surrendered Vessels

    • Ephesians 3:20 isn’t just about God’s ability—it’s about His power working IN US.
    • Example:
      • The disciples (ordinary fishermen) → turned the world upside down (Acts 17:6).
      • Why? They were fully yielded (Acts 2:1-4).

    Modern Challenge:

    • Your career, ministry, or family can become a “special miracle”—if you let God’s power work through you.

Conclusion: Dare to Believe for More

    • Don’t limit God with small faith (Psalm 78:41).
    • Your wildest dream is God’s starting point.

    Final Declaration:

    • “I refuse to settle for ordinary blessings. I am a candidate for Ephesians 3:20 miracles – because I serve an Ephesians 3:20 God!”

Key Takeaway: God’s “exceeding abundance” isn’t for the casual believer – it’s for the radically committed. Are you all in?
