OPEN HEAVEN 1 DECEMBER 2025 TODAY DEVOTIONAL
TOPIC: SOURCES OF PROPHECY III
MEMORISE:
So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
Isaiah 55:11
READ: 1 Samuel 3:19-21:
19 And Samuel grew, and the Lord was with him, and did let none of his words fall to the ground.
20 And all Israel from Dan even to Beersheba knew that Samuel was established to be a prophet of the Lord.
21 And the Lord appeared again in Shiloh: for the Lord revealed himself to Samuel in Shiloh by the word of the Lord.
RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 1 DECEMBER 2025 TODAY MESSAGE
Today, I will conclude the teaching I started two days ago by examining prophecies that come from the Holy Spirit.
Years ago, God told me to wear seven agbadas to one of our programmes, even though He knows I do not like putting on any kind of agbada at all, not to mention wearing seven at a time. Even for those who like to wear agbadas, wearing two at a time, not to talk of seven, will be considered absurd. The instruction was strange, but because I know His voice, I obeyed.
Then, He asked me to dance for a while and lay them on the altar afterwards. I obeyed again, and He said, “Let anyone who has a problem touch one of the agbadas. However, they should not hold them.” I relayed the message to the congregation, and many people came forward to touch the agbadas. We finished the service by 8am, and I retreated into my prayer room.
Around 5pm, I heard some knocks on the door. When I opened the door, some church members told me, “A man is about to die.” They explained that the man had held on to one of the agbadas, claiming that his problem required more than one touch, and he had been shaking vigorously since then. The clothes looked ordinary, but because God had given instructions concerning them, they were saturated with power. I had to plead with God before the man stopped shaking.
A while later, I travelled to the United States for one of our conventions, and God instructed me to take one of the agbadas with me.
During the service, I told the congregation that they should only touch the agbada and not hold on to it. A white man in the congregation said, “What kind of nonsense is that?” However, he went forward to touch the garment. The man was wearing an iron brace on his back, which enabled him to stand upright. Immediately he touched the agbada, the iron brace broke to pieces, and he received his healing.
Beloved, when the Holy Spirit speaks, whatever He says will always come to pass. No matter how foolish some utterances may sound, when God is the source, they will not fall to the ground.
To hear from God, however, you must relate intimately with the Holy Spirit so you can distinguish between His voice, the voice of the devil, and the voice of your human spirit.
PRAYER POINT
Dear Lord, please help me to relate more intimately with You so that I can hear Your voice clearly.

HYMN 30: WHEN WE WALK WITH THE LORD
OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 1 DECEMBER 2025 COMMENTARY
MEMORISE: Isaiah 55:11
“So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.”
This verse is the bedrock of prophetic certainty. It declares that God’s spoken word carries an inherent, unstoppable power to fulfill its divine purpose. It is not a suggestion but a sovereign decree that contains within itself the authority and energy needed for its own accomplishment.
BIBLE READING: 1 Samuel 3:19-21
This passage establishes the model of a true prophet of God:
v.19: God was with him – Divine presence validates the messenger.
v.19: Let none of his words fall to the ground – Perfect prophetic accuracy.
v.20: All Israel… knew – The testimony becomes public and undeniable.
v.21: The LORD revealed himself… by the word – Continuous revelation is the sign of an ongoing, intimate relationship.
The Infallibility of the Spirit’s Prophecy
Pastor E.A. Adeboye’s personal testimony powerfully illustrates the immutable principle in Isaiah 55:11. When prophecy originates from the Holy Spirit, it is never ordinary; it is a container for God’s power and purpose, guaranteed to produce a supernatural result.
1. The Nature of True Prophetic Instruction
Divine Origin, Not Human Logic:
The instructions from the Holy Spirit often transcend human understanding and cultural norms. The command to wear seven agbadas was “strange” and “absurd” by human standards, highlighting that God’s ways are higher than ours (Isaiah 55:8-9). His commands are designed to activate faith, not debate.
Inherent Power in Obedient Carriers:
The agbadas were ordinary cloth, but they became conduits of divine power because they were submitted to God’s instruction through His obedient servant. This mirrors the aprons and handkerchiefs in Acts 19:11-12. The power was not in the object itself but in the prophetic word and obedience that sanctified it.
2. The Consequences of Engaging with God’s Prophetic Word
Obedience Releases Blessing:
For the multitude who touched the garments in simple obedience, they accessed a point of contact for their miracle. Their faith, activated by obedience to the specific word, allowed God’s power to flow into their situations.
Presumption Invites Danger:
The man who held on to the garment violated the clear instruction (“touch, do not hold”). His presumption, disguised as greater faith, exposed him to an unmanaged flow of power that his body could not contain. This underscores that the boundaries set in a prophetic word are for our protection (1 Samuel 6:19).
Scoffing Cannot Nullify Power:
The skeptical white man’s healing proves that the efficacy of God’s prophetic word does not depend on the recipient’s initial belief but on its divine origin. His scoffing was overpowered by the inherent “so shall my word be” principle of Isaiah 55:11.
3. Cultivating a Discernment for God’s Voice
Intimacy is the Foundation:
Pastor Adeboye states clearly that to hear from God, you must “relate intimately with the Holy Spirit.” This is the fellowship Jesus promised (John 10:27). Discernment is not a technical skill but a relational fruit.
The Triple-Filter Test:
We must distinguish between:
- The Holy Spirit’s Voice: Always aligns with Scripture, exalts Christ, produces peace and liberty, and may challenge human logic for a higher purpose.
- The Devil’s Voice: Accuses, condemns, tempts to sin, and creates confusion and fear (2 Timothy 1:7).
- The Human Spirit’s Voice: Often driven by personal desire, fear, ambition, or human reasoning uncrucified by the Spirit.
4. The Result of a Life Yoked to God’s Word
Establishment as a Prophet:
Just as Samuel was established as a prophet in all Israel (1 Samuel 3:20), a life of obedient response to God’s voice builds a testimony of reliability and authority. God confirms His word through those who obey without debate.
Manifestation of God’s Glory:
The broken iron brace is a symbol of every yoke of bondage—physical, financial, emotional—that must shatter when it encounters the living word sent by God for that very purpose. The end goal is always God’s glory and human liberation.
How to Position Yourself for Authentic Prophetic Encounters
1. Prioritize Obedience Over Understanding:
Like Daddy Adeboye, train yourself to obey first, even when the instruction seems strange. Obedience unlocks understanding (John 7:17).
2. Value Specificity in Guidance:
Do not settle for general principles alone. Pray for and expect specific, instructional guidance from the Holy Spirit for your life and assignments.
3. Maintain a Clean Vessel:
Sin creates static in your spiritual frequency. Daily repentance and holiness (Psalm 24:3-4) sharpen your hearing and ensure you are a safe carrier of God’s power.
4. Test Every Word by the Scripture:
Any true word from the Holy Spirit will never contradict the written Word of God (2 Timothy 3:16). Make the Bible your ultimate filter.
Warning: Handle the Sacred with Care
The man who held the garment teaches us that we must engage with God’s prophetic manifestations on His terms, not ours. Presumption is dangerous. Treat the things of God with reverence and precise obedience, not with a careless or manipulative spirit.
Conclusion: Your Life as a Fulfilled Prophecy
Pray this:
“Holy Spirit, my Divine Guide, train my ear to know Your voice alone. Baptize me in the spirit of obedience that I may respond without delay or debate. Let every word You speak over my life come to pass with mighty power, breaking every yoke and establishing Your testimony, in Jesus’ name.”
Action Steps:
- For the next 7 days, journal every clear leading or prompt you sense from the Holy Spirit, and note your obedient response.
- Study the lives of biblical figures known for hearing God (e.g., Samuel, David, Mary). Identify the attitudes that positioned them to hear.
- Declare Isaiah 55:11 over every promise God has spoken to you, decreeing its certain fulfillment.
Remember: A word from God is a seed of destiny. Obedience is the water that makes it grow. The harvest is inevitable.
“So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void…” (Isaiah 55:11). It cannot fail.
