TOPIC: THE WEIGHT OF COVENANTS II

Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine:

Holiness is living a life that reflects God’s character, and it is the major weight of a covenant with Him.
Anyone who is in a covenant with God must be like Him (1 Peter 1:16), and this requires doing all that He asks. In return, the fellow will get many blessings from Him (Deuteronomy 28:1-14).
Some people think that life will become a bed of roses when they become believers; however, Jesus never promised that. In today’s Bible reading, He said that everyone who comes to Him should carry His yoke. This means that being a child of God does not mean that a fellow will not bear any weight of God’s covenant, only that the weight will be light and easy to carry with the help of the Holy Spirit.
Philippians 2:13 says. “For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.” God is willing able to fulfil the terms of your covenant with Him if you allow Him.
When you enter into a covenant with God, you will no longer be permitted to do many of the things that unbelievers do. For them, those things may be right, but not for you. Paul said that although all things are lawful, not all things are expedient (1 Corinthians 10:23).
Some people may argue that listening to worldly music is not a sin; however, for someone who has made a covenant with God, it is wrong. Some may dress seductively, but God will not approve of you dressing like that. You will get stricter instructions because of your covenant with God, but He will always empower you to obey Him.
The good news is that if you carry the weight of God’s covenant well, you will enjoy its fruits forever.
God entered into a covenant with my Father in the Lord, Pa Josiah Akindayomi and gave him certain conditions, and in return, He said that He would start a church through him that would spread around the world. Thank God Pa Akindayomi met those conditions, and when he passed away, God proceeded to fulfil His part of the covenant.
Beloved, play your own part; carry the light yoke of God’s covenant of salvation and see Him move into action to fulfil His part of the covenant by showering you with His blessings. I pray that your life will be filled with God’s glorious blessings, in Jesus’ name.
PRAYER POINT
Dear Father, please help me to carry the light yoke of your covenant willingly and joyfully. Help me to be holy as You are holy, in Jesus’ name.

Holiness is the weight of covenant with God. Obedience sets you apart as His treasured possession. The covenant requires your part—but the reward is being chosen above all others.

Jesus invites the weary and heavy-laden to come to Him for rest. He promises that His yoke is easy and His burden is light. This is not a call to a life of ease, but to a life of partnership with Him—where His grace empowers you to carry the weight of covenant.
Holiness: The Weight of Covenant

How to Carry the Covenant Weight Well (Practical Steps)
Based on Daddy Adeboye’s teaching, here is how to carry the light yoke of Christ:
1. Accept That Holiness Is the Weight of Covenant
Do not expect the Christian life to be easy or without cost. The weight is real—but it is light because Christ carries it with you.
2. Obey God’s Voice Even When It Is Costly
Pa Akindayomi met the conditions. He did not negotiate. He did not compromise. He obeyed. You must also obey—even when it requires giving up things the world holds dear.
3. Stop Justifying Worldly Behavior
Do not say, “It’s not a sin” when God’s word says it is unholy. Do not argue about what is “permissible.” Ask instead: “Does this honor my covenant with God?”
4. Depend on the Holy Spirit for Empowerment
You cannot carry the weight of holiness in your own strength. The Holy Spirit works in you to will and to do God’s good pleasure. Rely on Him daily.
5. Trust God to Fulfill His Part
When you carry your part of the covenant, God will carry His. He is faithful. He will not break His promise. You will enjoy the fruits of your covenant forever.
Warning: The Covenant Requires Your Part
Daddy Adeboye’s devotional carries an urgent encouragement: you cannot receive the blessings without carrying the weight. You cannot enjoy the fruit without bearing the yoke.
