TOPIC: TRADING WITH GOD I

READ: 2 Chronicles 1:6-15
6 And Solomon went up thither to the brasen altar before the Lord, which was at the tabernacle of the congregation, and offered a thousand burnt offerings upon it.
7 In that night did God appear unto Solomon, and said unto him, Ask what I shall give thee.
8 And Solomon said unto God, Thou hast shewed great mercy unto David my father, and hast made me to reign in his stead.
9 Now, O Lord God, let thy promise unto David my father be established: for thou hast made me king over a people like the dust of the earth in multitude.
10 Give me now wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people: for who can judge this thy people, that is so great?
11 And God said to Solomon, Because this was in thine heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, or honour, nor the life of thine enemies, neither yet hast asked long life; but hast asked wisdom and knowledge for thyself, that thou mayest judge my people, over whom I have made thee king:
12 Wisdom and knowledge is granted unto thee; and I will give thee riches, and wealth, and honour, such as none of the kings have had that have been before thee, neither shall there any after thee have the like.
13 Then Solomon came from his journey to the high place that was at Gibeon to Jerusalem, from before the tabernacle of the congregation, and reigned over Israel.
14 And Solomon gathered chariots and horsemen: and he had a thousand and four hundred chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen, which he placed in the chariot cities, and with the king at Jerusalem.
15 And the king made silver and gold at Jerusalem as plenteous as stones, and cedar trees made he as the sycomore trees that are in the vale for abundance.
RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 2 SEPTEMBER 2026 TODAY MESSAGE
Some years ago, a member of the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship International declared that he would cover the cost of every evangelistic programme held in his chapter throughout that year, and everyone agreed.
Later that year, the man shared the testimonies about what the Lord had done for him as a result of his giving, and the other members of the fellowship were truly amazed. Then, he offered to cover all the costs of the chapter’s evangelistic programmes for the next year, but other members of the fellowship said in unison, “No way!” They also wanted to partake of the blessings that come with giving and didn’t want the man to enjoy them alone.
In today’s Bible reading, we read that Solomon sowed a thousand burnt offerings as a sacrifice to God, and that night, God appeared to him and asked what he wanted. Solomon asked for the gift of wisdom. God granted his request and also gave him unparalleled riches, wealth, and honour.
Solomon was so blessed that the Bible tells us in 2 Chronicles 7:5 that when he gave another offering, he sacrificed 22,000 oxen and 120,000 sheep!
One of the many beautiful things about trading with God is that God can never owe any man. If you give Him something, He will repay you monumentally. Nobody trades with God and suffers a loss. Hebrews 11:6 calls Him a rewarder of them who diligently seek Him.
John 6:5-13 tells us the story of a boy who offered his five loaves of bread and two small fishes for Jesus to feed the multitudes. What happened next was that he witnessed one of the greatest miracles of all time, as he watched his tiny lunch multiply to feed thousands. Apart from that, he also received twelve baskets of leftover food, which I believe were given to him since it was his lunch that was used to feed the multitude. A child who came with a little lunch pack suddenly needed the help of adults to carry baskets of food back to his house.
Beloved, Ephesians 3:20 says that God can do exceeding abundantly above all that you can ask or think. This clearly shows that you can never trade with God and become worse for it. Whatever you give to God will be given back to you in multiple folds, far beyond your wildest imagination.

In this devotional, Pastor E.A. Adeboye teaches us a powerful principle titled “Trading with God.”
The core message is simple yet life-changing: you can never give to God and end up a loser. Daddy uses the law of sowing and reaping from Galatians 6:7 to show us that what we put into God’s kingdom determines what we get out of it.

Think of “trading with God” like a spiritual investment. In our world, people invest in stocks or real estate hoping for a profit. However, those markets can crash. Pastor reminds us that trading with God is the only investment with a guaranteed, monumental return.
When you give your time to serve in church, your finances to help the poor, or your talents to spread the Gospel, you aren’t “losing” those things. You are sowing them into a fertile field. As Daddy points out, God is a “rewarder of them who diligently seek Him” (Hebrews 11:6).

- Solomon’s Radical Sacrifice: Solomon didn’t just give a regular offering; he offered one thousand burnt offerings. This “extra mile” sacrifice moved God to appear to him that same night. When Solomon asked for wisdom to lead, God was so impressed that He added riches and honour that no king before or after him would ever match. Later, because he saw how well God paid back, Solomon increased his trade to 22,000 oxen and 120,000 sheep.
- The Boy with the Small Lunch: In John 6:5-13, a young boy gave his “tiny lunch” of five loaves and two fish to Jesus. Because he “traded” his meal with the Lord, he didn’t just go home full; he went home with twelve baskets of leftovers. Daddy notes that the boy likely needed adults to help him carry his “profit” home.
- The Business Man’s Testimony: Pastor shares a story about a man in a fellowship who volunteered to pay for every evangelistic programme for a year. He received so many blessings and testimonies that the following year, when he tried to do it again, the other members refused! They realized that by letting him pay for everything, they were letting him “monopolize” the blessings.
Deepening Your Understanding with Scripture
To understand this deeper, look at Ephesians 3:20, which says God can do “exceeding abundantly above all that you can ask or think”. This means when you give God your “little,” He doesn’t just give you back “a little more”—He gives back in multiple folds beyond your wildest imagination.
Action Steps
- Identify your “Seed”: What do you have that you can trade with God? It could be your time, a specific skill, or a financial seed.
- Give Cheerfully and Radically: Don’t just give the minimum. Like Solomon, look for opportunities to give a “thousand-fold” sacrifice that shows your love for God.
- Be Consistent: Don’t let others take your place in giving. Stay committed to supporting the Gospel so you can stay in the flow of God’s rewards.
Prayer Points
- Father, give me the heart of a cheerful giver and the grace to never be stingy with You.
- Father, show me what “seed” I have in my hand today that can be used for Your glory.
- Father, as I trade with You, let my harvest be so great that I will need help to carry my blessings home, just like the boy with the five loaves.
- Lord, grant me the wisdom to manage the abundance You are bringing into my life, just as You did for Solomon.
