OPEN HEAVEN 24 JUNE 2026 TODAY DEVOTIONAL
TOPIC: ARE YOU PLANTED AND SERVING?
MEMORISE:
Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God.
Psalm 92:13
READ: Acts 13:1-3
Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.
2 As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.
3 And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.
RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 24 JUNE 2026 TODAY MESSAGE
In Luke 12:7 Jesus said that the strands of hair on your I head are numbered. If God is so meticulous about the number of hair strands on your head, then your decision of where to fellowship with other believers greatly matters to Him. Therefore, it is important for you to seek God’s face for guidance in choosing the local assembly where you will fellowship with other believers.
Isaiah 61:3 says:
To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.
You are the planting of the Lord, so He knows best where you should be planted so you can flourish according to His will and to His glory. Today’s Bible reading makes us understand that Paul and Barnabas attended the church at Antioch. It was while they were there that the Holy Spirit commissioned them into ministry. There was a church in Jerusalem and another at Samaria at that time, but God spoke to them in the church at Antioch. They were planted in their local assembly, and that was why God sent His word to them there.
Child of God, it is, however, not enough to know the church God wants you to attend; it is also crucial to be rooted and fully involved there. Seeds grow when they fall to the ground and die. In John 12:24, Jesus said that except a corn of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it abides alone, but if it dies, it produces much fruit. Some Christians hop from church to church because they don’t see the necessity of being planted in a local assembly; however, God can hardly bless them that way Some others attend church regularly but are not involved in serving within a department or ministry.
Such believers are out of the church building as soon as the service ends.
Beloved, only seeds that are planted can grow and bear fruit. Believers cannot enjoy the fullness of God’s blessings if they are not planted and serving in the local assembly God wants them to be because only those who are planted in the house of the Lord truly flourish (Psalm 92:13). I pray that the Lord will establish your feet in His vineyard and shower you with manifold blessings, in Jesus name.
PRAYER POINT
Have you allowed God to plant you in His vineyard, and are you serving there?

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 24 JUNE 2026 COMMENTARY
MEMORISE: Psalm 92:13
“Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God.”
This verse reveals a critical spiritual principle: flourishing is connected to planting. Daddy Adeboye anchors today’s devotional on this text because it corrects the casual attitude many believers have toward church membership. The word “planted” implies intentionality, permanence, and rooting. A planted tree does not move from place to place searching for better soil. It sinks its roots deep and draws nourishment from where it is placed. The promise of flourishing is not for those who merely visit the house of the Lord occasionally, but for those who are planted there—established, committed, and deeply rooted.
BIBLE READING: Acts 13:1-3
“Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul. As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them. And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.”
This passage records a pivotal moment in church history: the commissioning of Paul and Barnabas for missionary work. Daddy Adeboye highlights a crucial detail: this commission did not happen in Jerusalem (the “mother church”) or in Samaria (where revival had occurred). It happened in Antioch—the local assembly where Paul and Barnabas were planted, serving, fasting, and ministering to the Lord. If they had not been planted in that local church, they would have missed their divine commissioning.
God Cares Where You Fellowship
1. The Meticulous God (Luke 12:7)
“In Luke 12:7 Jesus said that the strands of hair on your head are numbered. If God is so meticulous about the number of hair strands on your head, then your decision of where to fellowship with other believers greatly matters to Him.”
| What God Numbers | What This Reveals |
|---|---|
| The hairs on your head | He is attentive to the smallest details of your life |
| The stars in the sky (Psalm 147:4) | Nothing is too small or too large for His attention |
| Your tears (Psalm 56:8) | He cares about your emotional life |
| Your days (Psalm 139:16) | He has planned your entire life |
“Therefore, it is important for you to seek God’s face for guidance in choosing the local assembly where you will fellowship with other believers.”
Many Christians choose a church based on convenience (close to home), aesthetics (beautiful building), entertainment (good music), or social reasons (friends attend there). But Daddy Adeboye insists: seek God’s face. Ask Him where He wants you planted. Your church home is not a casual decision—it is a spiritual assignment.
2. You Are the Planting of the Lord (Isaiah 61:3)
“Isaiah 61:3 says: ‘To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.’”
| What This Verse Reveals | Implication |
|---|---|
| You are a “tree of righteousness” | You are designed to grow, bear fruit, and provide shade |
| You are “the planting of the LORD” | God is the Gardener; He decides where you are planted |
| The purpose is that He might be glorified | Your flourishing brings glory to God, not just blessing to you |
“You are the planting of the Lord, so He knows best where you should be planted so you can flourish according to His will and to His glory.”
A farmer does not plant a cactus in a swamp or a rice plant in a desert. He knows the specific soil, climate, and conditions each plant needs to thrive. God knows exactly what environment you need—what church, what ministry, what community—to grow into the fullness of His purpose for you.
The Antioch Example: Planted for Commissioning
1. The Church at Antioch
“Today’s Bible reading makes us understand that Paul and Barnabas attended the church at Antioch. It was while they were there that the Holy Spirit commissioned them into ministry.”
Consider the significance:
| Other Churches at That Time | Why Antioch? |
|---|---|
| Jerusalem (the first church, apostolic center) | God chose Antioch instead |
| Samaria (where Philip preached and revival broke out) | God chose Antioch instead |
| Other scattered congregations | Antioch was the place of commissioning |
“There was a church in Jerusalem and another at Samaria at that time, but God spoke to them in the church at Antioch. They were planted in their local assembly, and that was why God sent His word to them there.”
This is a crucial point. Paul (then called Saul) had been converted on the road to Damascus. He had spent time in Jerusalem. He had met with the apostles. But his divine commissioning for missionary work did not come in Jerusalem—it came in Antioch, the local church where he was planted and serving.
2. What Were They Doing When God Spoke?
“As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul…”
| Their Posture | What It Means |
|---|---|
| Ministering to the Lord | They were serving, worshiping, actively involved |
| Fasting | They were seeking God with intensity, not casually attending |
| Together as a church | They were not isolated; they were in community |
God did not speak to Paul and Barnabas while they were alone in their homes. He did not speak to them while they were hopping between churches. He spoke to them while they were planted, serving, and seeking God together in their local assembly.
The Necessity of Being Planted, Not Just Present
1. Seeds Grow When Planted, Not When Hopping
“Child of God, it is, however, not enough to know the church God wants you to attend; it is also crucial to be rooted and fully involved there.”
| Casual Attender | Planted Member |
|---|---|
| Attends when convenient | Commits regardless of convenience |
| Sits and watches | Serves and participates |
| Leaves as soon as service ends | Stays connected throughout the week |
| No deep relationships | Has spiritual family, accountability, support |
| Easily offended and leaves | Works through conflicts, grows roots |
“Seeds grow when they fall to the ground and die. In John 12:24, Jesus said that except a corn of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it abides alone, but if it dies, it produces much fruit.”
John 12:24 – “Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.”
| The Seed That Hops | The Seed That Is Planted |
|---|---|
| Rolls from place to place | Drops into the soil |
| Remains alone, unfruitful | Dies to self, produces much fruit |
| Never establishes roots | Sinks roots deep |
| Never draws consistent nourishment | Draws life from the soil |
| Never grows into a tree | Grows into a flourishing tree |
“Some Christians hop from church to church because they don’t see the necessity of being planted in a local assembly; however, God can hardly bless them that way.”
This is a strong statement. God “can hardly bless” the church-hopper. Why? Because blessing flows through covenant, commitment, and rootedness. A rolling stone gathers no moss. A rolling Christian gathers no spiritual weight, no deep relationships, no lasting fruit.
2. Involvement, Not Just Attendance
“Some others attend church regularly but are not involved in serving within a department or ministry. Such believers are out of the church building as soon as the service ends.”
| Attender Only | Involved Member |
|---|---|
| Comes, sits, listens | Comes, serves, contributes |
| Receives but does not give | Receives and gives back |
| Unconnected to church life | Connected through ministry |
| Leaves immediately | Stays for fellowship, meetings, prayer |
| Unknown to the leadership | Known, accountable, shepherded |
“Believers cannot enjoy the fullness of God’s blessings if they are not planted and serving in the local assembly God wants them to be…”
The “fullness of God’s blessings” is reserved for the planted. You can be saved and attend church without being planted. You can even be a member on paper while your heart is elsewhere. But the deep, abundant, overflowing blessings—the kind that make you flourish like a tree planted by rivers of water—require roots.
Why Planting Leads to Flourishing (Psalm 92:13)
“…only those who are planted in the house of the LORD truly flourish.”
| The Planted Tree (Psalm 1:3) | The Unplanted Believer |
|---|---|
| Planted by rivers of water | Wanders in dry places |
| Brings forth fruit in season | Barely produces, if at all |
| Leaf does not wither | Spiritually dry, easily scorched |
| Prospers in whatever he does | Struggles to gain traction |
Psalm 92:12-14 – “The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God. They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing.”
Notice the progression:
- Planted → Flourishing
- Flourishing → Fruit in old age
- Fruit in old age → Fat and flourishing (abundant life)
The palm tree and the cedar are known for their longevity, stability, and usefulness. They do not transplant well. They need to be planted and left alone to grow deep roots. That is the picture of the committed believer in a local church.
How to Find and Be Planted in the Right Local Assembly
Based on Daddy Adeboye’s teaching, here is how to seek God’s guidance and commit to a church home:
1. Seek God’s Face for Direction
Do not choose a church based on convenience, music, building, or social connections alone. Pray:
- “Lord, where do You want me planted?”
- “What local assembly will help me grow into Your purpose for my life?”
- “Where can I serve and be most effective for Your kingdom?”
2. Once You Know, Commit Fully
Do not keep one foot out the door. Do not keep “visiting” other churches while attending yours. Plant yourself. Join a department. Volunteer. Attend midweek services. Come to prayer meetings. Let the church know your face, your name, and your gifts.
3. Become Involved in Serving
“Only seeds that are planted can grow and bear fruit.”
| Ways to Serve | Why It Matters |
|---|---|
| Choir or music ministry | Your worship leads others |
| Ushering or hospitality | Your service creates an environment for encounter |
| Sunday school or children’s ministry | Your teaching shapes the next generation |
| Technical or media team | Your skills amplify the gospel |
| Cleaning or maintenance | Your hidden work enables public worship |
Even if you start small, start somewhere. A seed that does not break open and send out roots and shoots remains alone. Service is the “breaking open” of the seed.
4. Die to the Option of Leaving at Every Offense
Church-hoppers often leave because:
- The pastor said something they didn’t like
- Someone offended them
- They didn’t get the recognition they wanted
- A different church seemed more exciting
A planted seed does not complain about the soil. It adapts, draws nourishment, and grows. Commit to working through offenses, forgiving, and staying unless God clearly directs you otherwise.
Warning: Church-Hopping Is Spiritual Rootlessness
Daddy Adeboye’s devotional carries a clear warning: the church-hopper may look busy and involved, but spiritually, they are like a tumbleweed—blown here and there, never rooted, never flourishing.
| The Church-Hopper | The Planted Believer |
|---|---|
| Has attended many churches | Has a church home |
| Knows many pastors superficially | Is known by one pastor deeply |
| Has many opinions but no accountability | Has spiritual authority and covering |
| Leaves when problems arise | Works through problems |
| Rarely serves consistently | Serves faithfully over time |
| Wonders why God doesn’t speak clearly | Hears God in the context of community |
“I pray that the Lord will establish your feet in His vineyard and shower you with manifold blessings, in Jesus’ name.”
Establishment is the opposite of wandering. May God plant you, root you, and cause you to flourish in the local assembly He has chosen for you.
Conclusion: Your Prayer for Planting and Flourishing
Daddy Adeboye closes with a prayer for establishment and manifold blessings. Do not settle for being a wandering seed. Choose a church home. Plant yourself. Serve. Flourish.
Pray this:
“Lord Jesus, I thank You that You are the Gardener and I am the planting of the Lord. Forgive me for treating church membership casually. Forgive me for hopping from place to place without ever sinking roots. Forgive me for attending without serving, for receiving without giving. Today, I ask You: show me the local assembly where You want me planted. I will not choose based on convenience or preference. I will choose based on Your will. Once You show me, I will commit. I will serve. I will be involved. I will not leave at the first offense or the first disappointment. Plant me deep in Your house. Let me flourish like a palm tree, bearing fruit even in old age. Let me be a tree of righteousness for Your glory. Establish my feet in Your vineyard, and shower me with manifold blessings, in Jesus’ mighty name.”
Action Steps:
- The Church Audit: If you are not currently planted in a local assembly, commit this week to visiting churches with a prayerful heart. Ask God: “Is this where You want me?” Do not choose until you have peace.
- The Involvement Commitment: If you already have a church home but are not serving, approach a ministry leader this week and say, “I want to be planted. Where can I serve?” Start somewhere, even if it is small.
- The Rooting Challenge: For the next six months, commit to staying in your local assembly unless God clearly directs you otherwise. When offense comes (and it will), choose to forgive, stay, and grow through it.
“Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God.” (Psalm 92:13)
Stop hopping. Stop wandering. Seek God’s face. Find your church home. Plant yourself. Serve faithfully. Die to the option of leaving. And you will flourish like you have never flourished before.
