OPEN HEAVEN 27 SEPTEMBER 2025 TODAY DEVOTIONAL

TOPIC: BREAKING EVIL PATTERNS

MEMORISE:

But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;
2 Timothy 3:14

READ: Luke 11:21-26:

21 When a strong man armed keepeth his palace, his goods are in peace:
22 But when a stronger than he shall come upon him, and overcome him, he taketh from him all his armour wherein he trusted, and divideth his spoils.
23 He that is not with me is against me: and he that gathereth not with me scattereth.
24 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he saith, I will return unto my house whence I came out.
25 And when he cometh, he findeth it swept and garnished.
26 Then goeth he, and taketh to him seven other spirits more wicked than himself; and they enter in, and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 27 SEPTEMBER 2025 TODAY MESSAGE

Whenever demons get involved in people’s lives, they usually set up evil patterns in their lives that become difficult to break. Such patterns will become so strong that such people will feel helpless, even when they can see themselves heading towards destruction.

When you speak to people who are addicted to pornography or engage in a bad habit like smoking, you will often learn that the pattern started when things in their lives were beginning to look promising.

The devil set up those evil patterns in the lives of his victims to ensure that they do not experience the things that God has in store for them. However, once the patterns are broken, they become free from his stronghold.

To break these evil patterns, it is important to ask the Holy Spirit for help. Today’s Bible reading tells us that only a stronger man can take things that are in the possession of a strong man.

When a demon tries to introduce an evil pattern into the life of a believer, the Holy Spirit helps him or her to prevent it.

Many people make the mistake of relying on their strength to fight off the devil; however, that does not work. Instead, they should engage in a spiritual exercise that will cause them to be filled with the Holy Ghost.

They can start worshipping God or praying in tongues. As they do this, they will weaken the devil’s influence in their lives. They must, however, be willing to continue in this practice indefinitely.

As they continue to do this, they will discover after a while that they have become so strong in the Holy Spirit, and the yoke has been broken over them.

Isaiah 10:27 says that the yoke will be broken by reason of the anointing.

Jesus said in today’s Bible reading that when a demon is cast out of a person, it will return to check the state of its former accommodation. If it finds the place clean and empty, it will repossess the person and invite seven worse demons than itself to also come in.

This means that if an evil pattern has been broken over the life of a believer, he or she must continually grow in God’s grace. Such a fellow must pray, fast, study the Scriptures, and fellowship with other believers consistently. The deeper such a fellow goes in Christ, the more assured he or she will be of a permanent victory over all forms of evil patterns.

HYMN 27: WHAT A FRIEND WE HAVE IN JESUS

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 27 SEPTEMBER 2025 COMMENTARY

MEMORISE: 2 Timothy 3:14 (KJV)
“But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;”
This verse is a charge to persistent, unwavering continuance in the truth of God’s Word. It emphasizes the importance of steadfastness and not retreating from the foundational teachings that assure and secure our faith, especially in the face of spiritual warfare.

BIBLE READING: Luke 11:21-26 (KJV)
This passage contains Jesus’ teaching on spiritual authority and the danger of a vacuum. The “strong man” represents a demonic power that guards its “palace” (a person’s life). A “stronger than he” (Jesus, through the Holy Spirit) must overcome him to set the captive free. However, the key warning is that deliverance is not the end. If the emptied “house” is not occupied by the Holy Spirit and the Word of God, the demon will return with greater force.

The Strategy of Evil Patterns

Daddy Adeboye’s message provides a profound insight into demonic activity. Demons do not just cause random acts of sin; they establish “evil patterns”—cycles of addiction, negative behavior, and sinful thought processes that feel inescapable. These patterns are strategic, often launched during seasons of promise to derail destiny and ensure the victim never experiences God’s full plan for their life. The feeling of helplessness is a primary symptom of this demonic stronghold.

The Only Effective Solution: The Stronger Man

The devotional correctly identifies that human willpower is utterly insufficient to break these patterns. The analogy from Luke 11 is clear: only a power greater than the demonic “strong man” can defeat him and plunder his goods. This “stronger man” is Jesus Christ, operating through the power of the Holy Spirit within the believer. Therefore, the battle is not fought with fleshly resolve but with spiritual weapons (2 Corinthians 10:4).

The Process of Breaking Free

The message outlines a practical process for liberation:

  1. Ask for Help: The first step is humility—recognizing your inability and asking the Holy Spirit for help.
  2. Engage Spiritual Disciplines: Instead of trying to resist the devil in your own strength, you engagewith God. This shift in focus is crucial:
    • Worship: shifts focus from the problem to God’s majesty.
    • Praying in Tongues: edifies the spirit man and prays perfect prayers according to God’s will (Jude 1:20, 1 Corinthians 14:4).
  3. Consistency is Key: This is not a one-time event but a continuous practice. It is through consistent engagement that the anointing—the yoke-breaking power of God—builds up and shatters the demonic pattern (Isaiah 10:27).

The Critical Warning: Guarding Against Repossession

The most vital part of the interpretation is the warning from Luke 11:24-26. Deliverance creates a vacuum. If that vacuum is not filled with the presence of God through His Word and Spirit, the result will be worse than the beginning. This is why many people experience short-lived freedom from a sin pattern only to fall back into it more deeply.

The Path to Permanent Victory: Continual Growth

The answer to this danger is not just a one-time filling but a lifelong process of going “deeper in Christ.” Permanent victory is assured through:

  • Prayer and Fasting: Strengthening the inner man and subduing the flesh.
  • Studying Scripture: Filling the mind and heart with God’s truth, which sanctifies and protects (John 17:17).
  • Fellowship: Being accountable and strengthened by other believers.
This continuous growth ensures that the “house” is not just clean but permanently occupied by its rightful Owner, leaving no room for the enemy’s return.

Pray this:
“Heavenly Father, I acknowledge the evil patterns in my life that have made me feel helpless. I confess that my own strength has failed. Today, I ask for the help of the Holy Spirit, the Stronger Man. I engage with You now through worship and prayer. I break every demonic yoke over my life by the reason of Your anointing. I command every spirit of addiction, [name your specific pattern], to flee from me now in Jesus’ name! I reject a life of emptiness. I fill my life with Your Word and Your Spirit. I commit to a path of continual growth in prayer, fasting, study, and fellowship. Secure my victory permanently, Lord. Let my life be a occupied palace for Your glory alone. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.”

Action Steps:

  1. Identify the Pattern: Name the specific cyclical sin or addiction you are battling.
  2. Shift Your Strategy: The next time you feel the pull of this pattern, do not try to fight it directly. Immediately begin to worship God out loud or pray in the Spirit for at least 15-20 minutes.
  3. Create a Maintenance Plan: Schedule daily time for Bible study and prayer. Commit to regular fasting (e.g., one day a week). Ensure you are in consistent fellowship at a Bible-believing church.
  4. Memorize Scripture: Find verses that promise victory over your specific struggle and declare them daily.
  5. Seek Help: If the pattern is deeply entrenched, do not be ashamed to seek help from your pastor or a mature Christian counselor for prayer and accountability.

Remember: Your willpower cannot break a demonic pattern, but your worship can. The battle is won not by focusing on defeating the devil but by focusing on delighting in God. Consistency in spiritual disciplines builds the anointing that automatically breaks the yoke. And your ultimate security lies not in a single moment of deliverance, but in a lifetime of being filled with the Holy Spirit.
