RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 3 NOVEMBER 2025 TODAY MESSAGE

Yesterday, I mentioned that during the dispensation of the Father in the Old Testament, people got immediate judgment for their sins.

The word ‘dispensation’ in this context means regime. The regime of God the Father on the earth was from the beginning to the day of Pentecost. The regime of the Son will be for a thousand years (Revelation 20:1-4). There will be absolute peace during that period because the Prince of Peace will be in charge. Right now, however, we are in the regime of the Holy Spirit, which started on the day of Pentecost and is still on to date.

To prosper in a particular regime, you must understand and obey the people in charge. The One who is currently in charge of the affairs of men is the Holy Spirit. Therefore, to succeed in all things, you must know the Holy Spirit and be intimate with Him.

Being intimate with the Holy Spirit does not mean that you are downgrading or ignoring the Son or the Father. In today’s memory verse, Jesus said that the Holy Spirit will glorify Him and show us things concerning Him. Once you become intimate with the Holy Spirit, you will praise God the Father the way you should, glorify the Son the right way, pray the right way, and study God’s word the right way. When you become a friend of the Holy Spirit, you have automatically become a friend of the Trinity.

You can become intimate with the Holy Spirit by speaking His language often and asking Him to fill you. It is important to note that being able to perform miracles is not evidence that a fellow is intimate with the Holy Spirit. Galatians 5:16-17 says that the flesh and the spirit are always in constant battle against each other. A fellow has become intimate with the Holy Spirit when he or she no longer walks in the flesh but according to the dictates of the Spirit. The people around such a fellow will testify to it when they start seeing the fruit of the Spirit at work in him or her.

Jesus said in Matthew 7:16-20 that you will know a tree by the kind of fruit it produces. If the Holy Spirit is indeed your friend, you will produce good fruits that confirm your intimacy with Him.

Beloved, cultivate an intimate fellowship with the Holy Spirit; He will protect and preserve you. He will also ensure that you prosper in all that you do.

REFLECTION

Are you intimate with the Holy Spirit?

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR

John 5-6

HYMN 27: WHAT A FRIEND WE HAVE IN JESUS

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 3 NOVEMBER 2025 COMMENTARY

MEMORISE: John 16:14 (KJV)
“He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.”
This verse reveals the core mission of the Holy Spirit: to magnify and reveal Jesus Christ. His ministry is not self-promoting but Christ-centric, ensuring that our focus remains on the redemptive work of the Son, thereby bringing glory to the Father.

BIBLE READING: John 14:16-18
This passage contains Jesus’s pivotal promise of the Holy Spirit’s permanent indwelling:

  • v. 16: The Holy Spirit is another Comforter (of the same kind as Jesus), promised to be with and in believers forever.
  • v. 17: He is the Spirit of truth whom the world cannot receive, known intimately by those who belong to Christ.
  • v. 18: The coming of the Holy Spirit means we are never left as spiritual orphans; God’s presence remains with us.

Thriving in the Present Regime: The Necessity of the Holy Spirit

Pastor E.A. Adeboye builds upon the foundation of the Trinity to deliver a crucial and timely message: understanding the current divine administration. He teaches that spiritual success is not generic; it is specific to recognizing and aligning with the Person God has placed in charge of the present age—the Holy Spirit.

1. Understanding the Divine Regimes

The Principle of Spiritual Governance:
Daddy Adeboye introduces the biblical concept of dispensations or regimes—distinct periods in God’s redemptive plan where He relates to humanity in specific ways. To thrive in any season, one must understand and submit to the governing authority.

The Three Key Regimes:

  • The Regime of the Father (Old Testament – Pentecost): Characterized by law, prophecy, and immediate, often severe, judgment to establish the holiness and sovereignty of God.
  • The Regime of the Son (The Millennial Reign): A future thousand-year period where Jesus Christ will rule physically on earth, establishing perfect justice and peace (Revelation 20:4).
  • The Regime of the Holy Spirit (Pentecost – Present): The current age where the Holy Spirit is the primary divine Agent on earth, convicting the world, indwelling believers, and empowering the Church for global witness.

2. The Imperative of Intimacy With the Holy Spirit

The Key to Present Success:
In this current regime, prosperity in the spiritual realm and success in fulfilling God’s purpose are directly tied to one’s relationship with the Holy Spirit. He is the “One in charge,” and intimacy with Him is not a spiritual luxury but a strategic necessity.

Intimacy Glorifies the Trinity:
Daddy Adeboye masterfully addresses a common concern: that focusing on the Holy Spirit might diminish the Father or Son. He clarifies, using John 16:14, that the exact opposite is true. The Holy Spirit’s primary role is to glorify Jesus. Therefore, a deeper relationship with the Spirit leads to a more accurate worship of the Father and a more profound love for the Son.

3. The Evidence of Genuine Intimacy

Beyond the Spectacular:
The devotional makes a critical distinction that separates biblical truth from common error. The evidence of intimacy is not primarily found in spectacular gifts like miracles or speaking in tongues. While these are valid gifts, they can operate through gifting alone, not necessarily through deep relationship (Matthew 7:22-23).

The Supremacy of the Fruit:
The true, undeniable evidence of intimacy with the Holy Spirit is the consistent production of His character—the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). Intimacy is measured by Christlikeness. When the flesh is crucified and the Spirit governs a person’s reactions, attitudes, and choices, that is the proof of a genuine friendship with Him.

How to Cultivate Intimacy With the Holy Spirit

1. Speak His Language of Prayer and Praise:
Engage consistently in spiritual communication, particularly in prayer and worship in the Spirit (Jude 1:20, 1 Corinthians 14:2). This builds a direct line of communion and sensitivity to His promptings.

2. Yield to His Lordship Daily:
Intimacy is built on surrender. Consciously submit your will, plans, and desires to Him each day. Ask, “Holy Spirit, what do you want to do in and through me today?” This is walking according to the Spirit (Galatians 5:16).

3. Prioritize the Fruit Over the Gifts:
While desiring spiritual gifts is good (1 Corinthians 14:1), make it your primary pursuit to exhibit the fruit of the Spirit. Pray for love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control to be manifest in your life.

Warning: The Danger of a Gifts-Only Focus
A life that pursues the power of the Spirit without the character of the Spirit is unstable and can lead to pride, error, and a fall (1 Corinthians 13:1-2). Gifts without fruit provide a false sense of security and do not confirm intimacy.

Conclusion: Your Key to Preservation and Prosperity

Pray this:
“Holy Spirit, my Divine Helper and Friend, I acknowledge You as the Governor of this age. I invite You into a deeper place of intimacy with me. Teach me to know You, to hear Your voice, and to yield to Your leading. Produce in me the beautiful fruit of Your character, that I may glorify the Lord Jesus in all I do, and in so doing, prosper in the assignments You have for me.”

Action Steps:

  • Conduct a Fruit Audit: Honestly assess your life against Galatians 5:22-23. Which fruit is evident? Which is lacking? Bring these areas to the Holy Spirit in prayer.
  • Cultivate Sensitivity: Before making significant decisions, pause and ask the Holy Spirit for guidance. Journal what you sense He is saying and confirm it with Scripture.
  • Study His Ministry: Read the Gospel of John, chapters 14-16, and the book of Acts, noting every activity and promise related to the Holy Spirit.

Remember: In the regime of the Holy Spirit, your protection, preservation, and true prosperity are found in one place: a submitted, intimate, and obedient friendship with Him.

“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.” (Romans 8:14). Your sonship is proven by your submission to His leadership.
