TOPIC: PURIFY YOURSELF

READ: Numbers 8:5-11
And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
6 Take the Levites from among the children of Israel, and cleanse them.
7 And thus shalt thou do unto them, to cleanse them: Sprinkle water of purifying upon them, and let them shave all their flesh, and let them wash their clothes, and so make themselves clean.
8 Then let them take a young bullock with his meat offering, even fine flour mingled with oil, and another young bullock shalt thou take for a sin offering.
9 And thou shalt bring the Levites before the tabernacle of the congregation: and thou shalt gather the whole assembly of the children of Israel together:
10 And thou shalt bring the Levites before the LORD: and the children of Israel shall put their hands upon the Levites:
11 And Aaron shall offer the Levites before the LORD for an offering of the children of Israel, that they may execute the service of the LORD.
RCCG OPEN HEAVENS 4 NOVEMBER 2026 TODAY’S MESSAGE
Many years ago, I attended a Pentecostal conference in Kenya, where several anointed and popular ministers in the Pentecostal movement at the time were present. Even though I was not invited, I attended anyway because I was so hungry for God. Towards the end of the conference, we had a session titled ‘meditation.’ During this session, someone played the guitar and sang choruses, while the rest of us prayed in the Spirit. I was meditating when suddenly, I was transported to heaven.
It was an open vision because I wasn’t sleeping. I found myself in a very large room, which looked like a dome. There was someone sitting on a throne extremely far away. Angels stood on both sides of the room, millions of them to my right, and millions of them to my left. They were quite huge, and their appearance is very difficult to describe. They were not white; there are just no words to describe them. The closest I can get to describing them is when you put clear water in a crystal glass; there is no word to describe that type of colour.
When I turned to the right, the angels to my right moved back; when I turned to the left, the angels to my left also moved back. None of them said a word, but it occurred to me to take a look at myself. When I did, I noticed that I was completely naked and was covered with all kinds of rubbish as if I had just been pulled out of a sewer. On noticing that, I understood why the angels moved away from me, and the vision vanished suddenly. After seeing that, I told the Almighty God, “When I return to that throne room, I won’t come dirty.” That is the reason holiness has become a priority to me.
Beloved, without holiness, no man can see God (Hebrews 12:14). If you are still living in sin, you cannot see God, and any man who cannot see God cannot have access to the good and perfect gifts that can only come from Him (James 1:17). Do not serve God with an impure heart. It is time to draw nearer to Him and ask Him to purify you from anything that might be preventing you from seeing Him. If you seek Him with all your heart, you will find Him (Jeremiah 29:13), and you will experience His goodness in all areas of your life.

Holiness is not a popular topic these days, but it remains one of the most important truths in Scripture. Today’s devotional, “Purify Yourself,” is a deeply personal and sobering message from Daddy about the necessity of purity in our walk with God. He shares a remarkable vision where he was taken to heaven and saw himself as he truly was — and it changed his life forever.
God is holy, He dwells in holiness, and only those who purify themselves can draw near to Him and receive from Him. Let’s look at what the Word says about this vital truth.
God Is Holy, and Everything Around Him Is Holy
The first lesson we must grasp is that God is holy, and everything around His throne is holy. Daddy’s vision testifies to this. Throughout Scripture, we see that God’s throne is surrounded by holiness. Revelation 4:8 says the four beasts around the throne rest not day or night, saying, “Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty.”
This truth should reshape how we approach God. He is not a casual friend we can treat carelessly — He is the holy King. Yes, He invites us into intimacy, but we must come with reverence. The way we speak, the way we live, and the way we approach Him should reflect that we know who He is. When you understand God’s holiness, you begin to understand why your own purity matters so much.
Without Holiness, You Cannot See God
The second lesson is the heart of today’s message, and it comes directly from Hebrews 12:14. Daddy’s vision illustrates this powerfully — when he saw himself covered in rubbish, he understood why the angels moved away, and the vision vanished. His impurity prevented him from remaining in that holy place.
Many people wonder why they pray and receive no answer, why their walk with God feels dry, or why they cannot discern His direction. The state of your heart matters more than the eloquence of your prayers. If there is unconfessed sin, hidden compromise, or double-minded living, it clouds your vision of God. But the good news is that God does not leave us helpless — He invites us to be purified.
Draw Near to Him with a Sincere Heart to Purify You
You cannot purify yourself; only God can (Isaiah 6:6-7). James 4:8 says, “Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.”
In everyday life, this means coming to God honestly in prayer, confessing your sins, and asking Him to purify your heart. It may mean cutting off certain habits, relationships, or entertainments that defile you. It means loving Him with all your heart and seeking Him with your whole heart (Jeremiah 29:13). The more you draw near to God, the more His holiness purifies you, and the more you can see Him and experience His goodness in every area of your life.
A Pure Heart Sees a Good God
Holiness is not something we can manufacture by our own effort, but it is something God works in us as we draw near to Him with sincere hearts. God is holy, and everything around Him is holy. Without holiness, we cannot see Him, and if we cannot see Him, we cannot receive from Him.
But we are not left without hope. He invites us to come, to confess, and to be cleansed. Imagine how different your prayer life would be if you came to God daily asking Him to purify your heart — how much clearer His voice would become, how much deeper your intimacy would grow, and how much more His goodness would flow into your life. Take the state of your heart seriously.
Action Steps
- Examine your heart daily. Take time each day to ask God to search your heart (Psalm 139:23-24) and reveal any impurity or hidden sin. Confess it immediately and ask for His cleansing.
- Cut off what defiles you. Identify any habit, relationship, or entertainment that pulls you away from God and create a plan to remove it this week. Purity requires intentional action.
- Practice drawing near to God. Set aside time daily to seek God with all your heart — through prayer, worship, and the Word — trusting that as you draw near to Him, He will draw near to you and purify you.
Prayer Points
- Father, I thank You for being a holy God and for inviting me to draw near to You. Thank You for Your grace that cleanses and purifies me through the blood of Jesus.
- Lord, I acknowledge that You are holy. Help me to approach You with reverence and awe in all that I do, in Jesus’ name.
- Father, please search my heart and reveal anything that is not pleasing to You in Jesus’ name.
- Lord, purify me from all defilement, and cleanse me from anything that prevents me from seeing You. Let my heart be pure before You, in Jesus’ name.
- Father, give me the strength to cut off every habit, relationship, or entertainment that defiles me. Help me to live a life of holiness and not compromise, in Jesus’ name.
- Lord, as I draw near to You, please draw near to me. Let me see You clearly and experience Your goodness in every area of my life, in Jesus’ name.
- Father, keep me pure and sanctified until the day I stand before Your throne, in Jesus’ name.
