RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 4 NOVEMBER 2025 TODAY MESSAGE

The first time God spoke in the Bible was in today’s Bible reading. To understand what it takes for God to speak to you, you must study that passage of the Scripture carefully. Before He spoke, the Spirit of God moved over the face of the earth. This means that God speaks whenever the Holy Spirit is in operation.

If you want to hear from God, the Holy Spirit must be in operation around you. Once you know how to stir Him in you, you will constantly hear from Him. I hear from God frequently when I am preaching because usually, before I step on any altar to minister, the congregation would have spent some time worshipping God.

Then, when I step on the altar, I would continue to worship and eulogise God. When I am done, and it is time to preach, the Spirit of God would have saturated the entire place, and He would begin to speak to me.

Ministers who do not hear from God will struggle because hearing from God makes ministering easy. God will tell you what and what not to do so that you won’t waste your time and resources.

For example, if I want to host a crusade in a particular location, I would ask Him, “Daddy, should I go?” If He says, “No,” then I know that going there would be a waste of time. Some ministers go to minister in different places without hearing from God first. However, when they suffer all kinds of hardships and unnecessary persecutions, they will claim that they are suffering for Jesus.

Some will say that since the Bible instructs believers to preach the gospel to all nations, they will build a church in a particular location, even though they did not ask God about it and He did not specifically instruct them to.

At the end of the day, they might end up lacking the required funds to run the church and they will begin to look for people they can manipulate into giving them money.

Beloved, hearing from God and obeying His voice will always keep you at the centre of His plan and provision. Even when things get difficult, as long as you are operating in His will, He will carry you through. Consistently create an atmosphere for Him to operate in your life, and He will always lead you into higher realms of His grace and glory.

KEY POINT

God will always speak to you when you know how to stir His Spirit in you.

HYMN 33: GUIDE ME, O THOU GREAT JEHOVAH!

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 4 NOVEMBER 2025 COMMENTARY

MEMORISE: Matthew 3:16-17 (KJV)
“And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”
This moment at the Jordan River provides the perfect blueprint for divine communication: the Son submits in obedience, the Holy Spirit descends in manifestation, and the Father speaks with affirmation. It demonstrates that God’s voice is often heard most clearly when the Holy Spirit is actively present and moving.

BIBLE READING: Genesis 1:2-3
This foundational passage reveals the pattern for all divine activity and communication:

  • v. 2: The earth was without form, void, and in darkness. The Spirit of God was moving (hovering, brooding) over the chaotic waters. This signifies the preparatory work of the Holy Spirit.
  • v. 3: Then, and only then, God said, “Let there be light.” The spoken word of creation follows the movement of the Spirit. Order and light are released through the collaboration of the Spirit and the Word.

Creating the Atmosphere for God’s Voice

Pastor E.A. Adeboye moves from the doctrine of the Holy Spirit to the critical practice of hearing from God. Using the creation account as his foundation, he teaches that divine communication is not random but occurs within a specific spiritual environment that we can learn to cultivate.

1. The Divine Pattern: Spirit First, Then Voice

The Primacy of the Spirit’s Movement:
The order in Genesis 1:2-3 is non-negotiable. Before God spoke light into existence, the Holy Spirit was already actively hovering over the darkness. This establishes a timeless principle: the Holy Spirit is the divine Agent who creates the necessary atmosphere for God’s word to be spoken, received, and effectively executed.

The Triune Collaboration:
This pattern is mirrored in the ministry of Jesus. The Holy Spirit descends upon Him, and then the Father speaks. This shows that the Trinity works in harmony: the Spirit prepares the way, the Son is the Word made flesh, and the Father speaks with authority. To hear the Father, we must welcome the ministry of the Spirit.

2. The Practical Key: Stirring the Atmosphere

Intentional Cultivation:
Daddy Adeboye provides a transparent look into his own ministry practice. He doesn’t merely hope to hear from God; he intentionally creates an environment where the Holy Spirit is “saturated.” This is done through sustained, heartfelt worship and praise. Worship is not just a prelude; it is the spiritual catalyst that stirs the Holy Spirit into greater operation.

The Consequence of a Silent Heaven:
The devotional issues a sobering warning to ministers and believers alike. Operating without a current word from God leads to struggle, wasted resources, and unnecessary hardship. It is possible to be doing a “good thing” (like preaching the gospel) but in the wrong place, at the wrong time, or in the wrong way because it was not initiated by the Spirit.

3. The Blessings of a Spirit-Saturated Life

Divine Guidance and Efficiency:
When we hear from God, ministry and life become efficient. God directs our paths, telling us both what to do and what to avoid. This divine navigation saves us from the fatigue and frustration of fruitless labor and ensures that our efforts are aligned with His productive will.

Provision in the Center of His Will:
Daddy Adeboye makes a crucial connection between obedience and provision. When you are in the center of God’s plan, you are also in the center of His supply. The difficulties that arise within His will are not signs of His absence but opportunities for His miraculous sustenance and deliverance.

How to Cultivate an Atmosphere for God’s Voice

1. Prioritize Worship, Not Just Requests:
Transform your prayer time from a monologue of requests into a dialogue that begins with adoration. Spend significant time worshiping God for who He is, not just for what He can do. This “moves” the Holy Spirit in your midst.

2. Ask Before You Act:
Institutionalize the habit of seeking God’s specific direction for every major endeavor. Before launching a new ministry, making a significant purchase, or relocating, ask, “Daddy, should I go?” Wait for His peace or His clear directive through His Word and His Spirit.

3. Value His ‘No’ as a Form of Guidance:
Recognize that God’s prohibition is as much a manifestation of His voice and His care as His permission. A “no” from God is not a rejection; it is a protection and a redirection that saves you from wasted time and resources.

Warning: The Deception of Presumption
Assuming God’s blessing on our plans without consulting Him is a dangerous form of pride. It can lead to manipulative practices, financial strain, and claiming “persecution for Christ” for hardships that were actually avoidable consequences of disobedience.

Conclusion: Living in the Flow of Divine Communication

Pray this:
“Holy Spirit, I invite You to move over the chaos and areas of darkness in my life. Create in me an atmosphere of worship and surrender where the Father’s voice can be clearly heard. Deliver me from presumption and guide me into all truth. Let my life and ministry be a direct result of Your divine instruction, so I may always walk in the center of Your will and provision, in Jesus’ name.”

Action Steps:

  • Worship First: For the next 7 days, begin your prayer time with 10-15 minutes of pure worship, focusing only on God’s attributes, before you present any requests.
  • Seek Confirmation: When you believe you have heard a directive from God, write it down and seek confirmation through the Scriptures and the counsel of mature, spiritual leaders.
  • Study the Pattern: Read through the Book of Acts, noting how the early church consistently relied on the Holy Spirit’s direction for their ministry decisions (e.g., Acts 8:29, 10:19-20, 13:2).

Remember: A life that consistently hears from God is a life that is consciously cultivated. By prioritizing the presence and movement of the Holy Spirit, you ensure that heaven is never silent over your affairs.

“And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.” (Isaiah 30:21). This is your portion in the regime of the Spirit.
