OPEN HEAVEN 29 SEPTEMBER 2025 TODAY DEVOTIONAL

    TOPIC: SPIRITUAL GROWTH

    MEMORISE:
    Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all;
    Galatians 4:1

    READ: 1 Peter 2:1-3:

1 Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings,
2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:
3 If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 29 SEPTEMBER 2025 TODAY MESSAGE

A Christian who refuses to grow spiritually will be controlled by what he or she should be in control of. Such a Christian will beg to have things that should ordinarily be in his or her possession.

Until you grow spiritually, there is a limit to what God can trust you with. Hence, you must take personal responsibility for your spiritual growth. Don’t depend on your pastors to do what you should do by yourself.

Any Christian who does not grow spiritually will be ill prepared to face the storms of life. He or she will be unable to take on responsibilities in God’s kingdom and will be at the mercy of every satanic attack.

When giving out important assignments, God will always bypass a spiritual baby for a more mature believer. This is why it is important for you to pay the price for spiritual growth. You need to consistently feed on the word of God and spend time in His presence.

Many years ago, when nobody lived at the Redemption Camp (now Redemption City), I would leave my house in Mushin, a suburb of Lagos every Tuesday morning and stay at the camp until Thursday morning. Apart from me, the only other people at the camp were the carpenters who were involved in the ongoing construction work.

However, they would stop as soon as it was dark and retire for the day, leaving me alone to seek God’s face with all my heart all night. One night – I remember that night like it was yesterday – I prayed: “Father, I surrender all. It is only You that I want. I don’t want to be an ordinary pastor. I am not asking for gold, clothes, or fame. I just want You to empower me to do this work. If You’re not going to do it, please take me away.”

That day, God answered my prayers, and there was a tremor in the camp that was felt as far as in Ijebu Ode, a town that is over 60 kilometres away. When you desire to grow spiritually, God will visit you in mighty ways that will shake your world for good.

Beloved, what is hindering your spiritual growth? Have you become too busy chasing after worldly pleasures? Have the cares of this life choked your love for God? Strive to continually grow spiritually so that you will not be tossed to and fro by the devil’s tricks (Ephesians 4:14).

    PRAYER POINT

Father, please help me to deal with everything hindering me from growing spiritually, in Jesus’ name.

    BIBLE IN ONE YEAR

    Zechariah 6-10

HYMN 23: TAKE MY LIFE AND LET IT BE

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 29 SEPTEMBER 2025 COMMENTARY

    MEMORISE: Galatians 4:1 (KJV)
“Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all;”
This verse powerfully illustrates the consequence of spiritual immaturity. An heir may legally own everything, but if they remain a “child” in understanding and character, they cannot access or manage their inheritance. They live like a servant, begging for what is rightfully theirs. This is the state of a believer who refuses to grow.

BIBLE READING: 1 Peter 2:1-3 (KJV)
“1 Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings, 2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: 3 If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.”
This passage outlines the prerequisites and the means for spiritual growth. Growth requires first laying aside sinful habits that stunt development. Then, it requires a desperate, craving desire (“as newborn babes”) for the pure, unadulterated Word of God, which is the essential nutrient for spiritual maturation.

The Tragedy of the Stagnant Believer

Daddy Adeboye’s message is a sobering wake-up call against spiritual complacency. A Christian who refuses to grow remains a spiritual infant, controlled by the very things they should dominate—sin, circumstances, emotions, and demonic attacks. They live in poverty of spirit, power, and authority, “begging” for victories, breakthroughs, and peace that are already their inheritance in Christ.

    The Limit of God’s Trust

The devotional introduces a crucial principle: God’s level of trust in us is directly proportional to our spiritual maturity. He will not entrust significant kingdom assignments, spiritual authority, or great resources to a believer who has not demonstrated the character and wisdom to handle them. Immature believers are bypassed for promotions, both in the spiritual realm and often in the natural, because they are unprepared for the responsibility and the attacks that come with greater influence.

    The Personal Responsibility for Growth

A central theme is the individual’s responsibility. Spiritual growth is not the pastor’s job; it is the believer’s duty. Pastors are given to equip the saints, but the saint must actively engage in the process of being equipped (Ephesians 4:11-12). This involves two non-negotiable activities:

    1. Consistently feeding on the Word of God: This is the “sincere milk” and later the “solid food” (1 Corinthians 3:2) that builds spiritual muscle and discernment.
    2. Spending time in His presence: This is where character is refined, intimacy is built, and power is received.

The Price of Power: A Personal Testimony

Daddy Adeboye’s testimony from the early days of the Redemption Camp is the ultimate illustration of paying the price for growth. His sacrifice—leaving family, staying alone in a barren land, praying all night—was driven by a desperate cry for more of God, not more of God’s things. His prayer, “I surrender all… I just want You to empower me,” is the model prayer for spiritual growth. It is a prayer of total surrender and single-minded desire for God’s power alone. The tangible result—a supernatural tremor—shows that God responds to such desperate hunger with tangible manifestations of His presence and power.

    The Hindrances to Growth

The devotional concludes by prompting self-examination. Spiritual growth is hindered by:

    • Worldly Pleasures: Chasing temporal satisfaction over eternal substance.
    • The Cares of This Life: Allowing anxieties and daily burdens to choke out time and passion for God (Matthew 13:22).
These things leave a believer unstable and vulnerable, “tossed to and fro” by every new doctrine, temptation, or trial.

    Pray this:
“Heavenly Father, I repent for my spiritual complacency. Forgive me for living like a servant when I am an heir to Your kingdom. I lay aside every weight and sin that hinders my growth. Today, I take responsibility for my spiritual development. I crave the pure milk of Your Word like a newborn baby. I hunger for Your presence above all else. I surrender all to You. I don’t just want Your blessings; I want You. Empower me for Your service. Shake my world with Your presence and launch me into a new dimension of spiritual maturity and authority. I refuse to be a child any longer. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

    Action Steps:

    1. Conduct a Growth Audit: Honestly assess your spiritual life. Are you still struggling with the same sins, fears, and failures as years ago? This indicates stalled growth.
    2. Create a Feeding Schedule: Commit to a daily, non-negotiable time of Bible reading and prayer. Start with 15 minutes and gradually increase.
    3. Identify and Remove a Hindrance: What is one worldly pleasure or care that is choking your spiritual life? Take concrete steps to reduce or eliminate it.
    4. Pray the Prayer of Surrender: Model your prayers after Daddy Adeboye’s. Tell God you want more of Him, not just more from Him.
    5. Seek Accountability: Share your growth goals with a mature believer and ask them to check on your progress.

Remember: Your spiritual maturity is your personal responsibility. God has provided everything you need for life and godliness (2 Peter 1:3), but you must diligently add to your faith. Don’t live beneath your privilege as an heir. Pay the price in the secret place so you can walk in power in the public place. Your growth determines your governance. Choose to grow today.

TOPIC: HIS WAYS ARE NOT YOUR WAYS

    MEMORISE:
For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
    Isaiah 55:8-9

    READ: 2 Kings 6:1-7:

1 And the sons of the prophets said unto Elisha, Behold now, the place where we dwell with thee is too strait for us.
2 Let us go, we pray thee, unto Jordan, and take thence every man a beam, and let us make us a place there, where we may dwell. And he answered, Go ye.
3 And one said, Be content, I pray thee, and go with thy servants. And he answered, I will go.
4 So he went with them. And when they came to Jordan, they cut down wood.

5 But as one was felling a beam, the axe head fell into the water: and he cried, and said, Alas, master! for it was borrowed.
6 And the man of God said, Where fell it? And he shewed him the place. And he cut down a stick, and cast it in thither; and the iron did swim.
7 Therefore said he, Take it up to thee. And he put out his hand, and took it.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 28 SEPTEMBER 2025 TODAY MESSAGE

God’s ways are beyond natural human comprehension. He can choose to make a donkey talk (Numbers 22:28), provide resources in unusual places (Matthew 17:27), and use a sworn enemy to arrange for a fellow’s promotion at work like He used the Egyptians to sponsor the Israelites’ journey in the wilderness (Exodus 12:36).

As a believer, don’t think you can understand all of God’s ways – all He requires from you is your faith and obedience. When you ask Him for something, you should do whatever He tells you to do and believe that He is more than able to meet your requests.

People who think that God is too slow and that they can handle things by themselves often get into trouble. Abraham learnt this the hard way when Sarah convinced him to help God by having a child through her servant (Genesis 16:2).

That single decision is the cause of some of the major problems in the world today. If God has said He will do something, He will do it to perfection; you cannot do it better than Him.

In today’s Bible reading, the sons of the prophets wanted to build a bigger accommodation, and they came to tell Elisha. They decided to go beside the Jordan River to get wood for the construction, and while the others were excited to start the project, one of them asked Elisha to go with them.

Beloved, it is good to make plans and embark on projects. However, if you don’t involve God in all you do, your ‘welllaid-out plans’ can crumble. This was what happened to the sons of the prophets. While they were happily cutting down wood and gathering it for their building project, they suddenly had a setback.

One of them had borrowed an axe, and while cutting wood with it, the axe-head fell into the water. Apart from negatively affecting the completion timeline of the project, this setback also meant that they had incurred some debt because the axe was borrowed. Thank God one of them had earlier involved Elisha. He simply asked them where the axe-head fell, cut down a stick, and threw it into the water.

What happened next cannot be explained by science; the stick sank, and the heavy axe head swam.

God’s ways are not man’s ways, and only a fool will always try to explain how God works.

When it comes to relating with God, faith and obedience is all He expects of you because His ways are past finding out.

    ACTION POINT

You cannot always understand God’s ways. All you need to do is believe in Him.

    BIBLE IN ONE YEAR

    Zechariah 1-5

HYMN 30: WHEN WE WALK WITH THE LORD

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 28 SEPTEMBER 2025 COMMENTARY

    MEMORISE: Isaiah 55:8-9 (KJV)
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
This scripture establishes the infinite gap between divine and human intelligence. God’s methods, timing, and strategies are fundamentally different from and superior to our own. It calls for a posture of humility and trust, acknowledging that we cannot always comprehend His plans but can always trust His character.

BIBLE READING: 2 Kings 6:1-7 (KJV)
This passage narrates a seemingly minor miracle with profound implications. The loss of the axe head was a significant financial and practical setback. Elisha’s solution—throwing a stick into the water to make the iron axe head float—defied all natural laws (density, gravity). It was an utterly illogical act that produced a supernatural result, demonstrating that God’s solutions are not bound by human logic or scientific possibility.

    The Incomprehensibility of God’s Methods

Daddy Adeboye’s message centers on a foundational truth: God operates in ways that often confound human reasoning. The examples given—a talking donkey, money in a fish’s mouth, and provision from enemies—are all biblical accounts where God used the unexpected, unusual, and impossible to achieve His purposes. This teaches us that we should never limit God to working within the confines of our understanding or preferred methods.

    The Peril of “Helping” God

The devotional uses Abraham and Sarah’s mistake with Hagar (Genesis 16) as a grave warning against impatience and self-reliance. Their attempt to “help” God fulfill His promise resulted in Ishmael, whose lineage became a perpetual source of conflict. The interpretation is stark: “You cannot do it better than Him.” When we grow impatient with God’s timing and resort to human schemes, we often create problems far greater than the one we were trying to solve.

    The Necessity of Involving God

The story of the sons of the prophets provides the positive model. They had a good plan (to build), but one among them had the wisdom to involve Elisha, the man of God. This proved to be their salvation when crisis struck. The application is clear: “It is good to make plans… however, if you don’t involve God in all you do, your ‘well-laid-out plans’ can crumble.” Involving God is not a mere formality; it is the essential factor that determines whether a project succeeds or fails when unforeseen setbacks occur.

    The Supernatural in the Setback

The axe head falling into the water represents the unexpected crises that threaten to derail our lives and dreams—a financial loss, a health diagnosis, a relational breakdown. The miracle was not in preventing the problem but in providing a supernatural solution in the midst of it. God’s way was not to stop the axe head from falling, but to reverse the laws of nature to recover it. This shows that God is not just the God of prevention; He is the God of redemption and restoration in the middle of our mess.

    The Response: Faith and Obedience

Since God’s ways are “past finding out,” our primary responsibility is not to understand, but to trust and obey. The stick Elisha threw made no logical sense, but obedience to the prophetic instruction released the miracle. God does not require us to comprehend His instructions before we obey them. He requires faith that believes He knows what He is doing, even when it seems foolish to the natural mind (1 Corinthians 1:25).

    Pray this:
“Heavenly Father, I acknowledge that Your thoughts and ways are infinitely higher than mine. Forgive me for the times I have limited You to my understanding and tried to ‘help’ You with my own flawed strategies. I surrender my plans, my timing, and my methods to You. I invite You into every project and decision in my life. Give me the faith to trust You even when I don’t understand Your ways. Help me to obey Your instructions promptly and completely, without questioning or rationalizing. When setbacks come, remind me that You are the God of the supernatural turnaround. I choose to rely not on my own understanding, but to trust in You with all my heart. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

    Action Steps:

    1. Inventory Your Plans: List the major plans or projects you are currently working on (career, family, financial, ministry).
    2. Formally Invite God: Pray over each one, specifically inviting God’s guidance and involvement. Say, “Lord, this is Your project, not mine. Lead me.”
    3. Identify Your “Axe Head”: What is a current setback or loss that seems impossible to recover from? Bring it to God in prayer.
    4. Listen for Unusual Instructions: Be sensitive to the Holy Spirit’s promptings. He may lead you to do something that seems illogical (like throwing a stick in the water). Be prepared to obey in faith.
    5. Renounce Self-Reliance: Make a conscious decision to reject impatience and the urge to force solutions. Commit to waiting on God’s perfect timing and method.

Remember: Your inability to understand God’s process does not negate His power. Your role is not to figure it out, but to faith it out. The God who made iron swim is more than able to solve your problem in a way that will leave no doubt about His power and glory. Trust His strange ways. Your miracle may be hidden in an instruction that makes no sense to your natural mind.

OPEN HEAVEN 27 SEPTEMBER 2025 TODAY DEVOTIONAL

    TOPIC: BREAKING EVIL PATTERNS

    MEMORISE:

    But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;
    2 Timothy 3:14

    READ: Luke 11:21-26:

21 When a strong man armed keepeth his palace, his goods are in peace:
22 But when a stronger than he shall come upon him, and overcome him, he taketh from him all his armour wherein he trusted, and divideth his spoils.
23 He that is not with me is against me: and he that gathereth not with me scattereth.
24 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he saith, I will return unto my house whence I came out.
25 And when he cometh, he findeth it swept and garnished.
26 Then goeth he, and taketh to him seven other spirits more wicked than himself; and they enter in, and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 27 SEPTEMBER 2025 TODAY MESSAGE

Whenever demons get involved in people’s lives, they usually set up evil patterns in their lives that become difficult to break. Such patterns will become so strong that such people will feel helpless, even when they can see themselves heading towards destruction.

When you speak to people who are addicted to pornography or engage in a bad habit like smoking, you will often learn that the pattern started when things in their lives were beginning to look promising.

The devil set up those evil patterns in the lives of his victims to ensure that they do not experience the things that God has in store for them. However, once the patterns are broken, they become free from his stronghold.

To break these evil patterns, it is important to ask the Holy Spirit for help. Today’s Bible reading tells us that only a stronger man can take things that are in the possession of a strong man.

When a demon tries to introduce an evil pattern into the life of a believer, the Holy Spirit helps him or her to prevent it.

Many people make the mistake of relying on their strength to fight off the devil; however, that does not work. Instead, they should engage in a spiritual exercise that will cause them to be filled with the Holy Ghost.

They can start worshipping God or praying in tongues. As they do this, they will weaken the devil’s influence in their lives. They must, however, be willing to continue in this practice indefinitely.

As they continue to do this, they will discover after a while that they have become so strong in the Holy Spirit, and the yoke has been broken over them.

Isaiah 10:27 says that the yoke will be broken by reason of the anointing.

Jesus said in today’s Bible reading that when a demon is cast out of a person, it will return to check the state of its former accommodation. If it finds the place clean and empty, it will repossess the person and invite seven worse demons than itself to also come in.

This means that if an evil pattern has been broken over the life of a believer, he or she must continually grow in God’s grace. Such a fellow must pray, fast, study the Scriptures, and fellowship with other believers consistently. The deeper such a fellow goes in Christ, the more assured he or she will be of a permanent victory over all forms of evil patterns.

    KEY POINT

Fellowshipping with God is the key to breaking all evil patterns that might exist in your life

    BIBLE IN ONE YEAR

    Haggai 1-2

HYMN 27: WHAT A FRIEND WE HAVE IN JESUS

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 27 SEPTEMBER 2025 COMMENTARY

    MEMORISE: 2 Timothy 3:14 (KJV)
“But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;”
This verse is a charge to persistent, unwavering continuance in the truth of God’s Word. It emphasizes the importance of steadfastness and not retreating from the foundational teachings that assure and secure our faith, especially in the face of spiritual warfare.

    BIBLE READING: Luke 11:21-26 (KJV)
This passage contains Jesus’ teaching on spiritual authority and the danger of a vacuum. The “strong man” represents a demonic power that guards its “palace” (a person’s life). A “stronger than he” (Jesus, through the Holy Spirit) must overcome him to set the captive free. However, the key warning is that deliverance is not the end. If the emptied “house” is not occupied by the Holy Spirit and the Word of God, the demon will return with greater force.

    The Strategy of Evil Patterns

Daddy Adeboye’s message provides a profound insight into demonic activity. Demons do not just cause random acts of sin; they establish “evil patterns”—cycles of addiction, negative behavior, and sinful thought processes that feel inescapable. These patterns are strategic, often launched during seasons of promise to derail destiny and ensure the victim never experiences God’s full plan for their life. The feeling of helplessness is a primary symptom of this demonic stronghold.

The Only Effective Solution: The Stronger Man

The devotional correctly identifies that human willpower is utterly insufficient to break these patterns. The analogy from Luke 11 is clear: only a power greater than the demonic “strong man” can defeat him and plunder his goods. This “stronger man” is Jesus Christ, operating through the power of the Holy Spirit within the believer. Therefore, the battle is not fought with fleshly resolve but with spiritual weapons (2 Corinthians 10:4).

    The Process of Breaking Free

The message outlines a practical process for liberation:

    1. Ask for Help: The first step is humility—recognizing your inability and asking the Holy Spirit for help.
    2. Engage Spiritual Disciplines: Instead of trying to resist the devil in your own strength, you engagewith God. This shift in focus is crucial:
      • Worship: shifts focus from the problem to God’s majesty.
      • Praying in Tongues: edifies the spirit man and prays perfect prayers according to God’s will (Jude 1:20, 1 Corinthians 14:4).
    3. Consistency is Key: This is not a one-time event but a continuous practice. It is through consistent engagement that the anointing—the yoke-breaking power of God—builds up and shatters the demonic pattern (Isaiah 10:27).

The Critical Warning: Guarding Against Repossession

The most vital part of the interpretation is the warning from Luke 11:24-26. Deliverance creates a vacuum. If that vacuum is not filled with the presence of God through His Word and Spirit, the result will be worse than the beginning. This is why many people experience short-lived freedom from a sin pattern only to fall back into it more deeply.

The Path to Permanent Victory: Continual Growth

The answer to this danger is not just a one-time filling but a lifelong process of going “deeper in Christ.” Permanent victory is assured through:

    • Prayer and Fasting: Strengthening the inner man and subduing the flesh.
    • Studying Scripture: Filling the mind and heart with God’s truth, which sanctifies and protects (John 17:17).
    • Fellowship: Being accountable and strengthened by other believers.
This continuous growth ensures that the “house” is not just clean but permanently occupied by its rightful Owner, leaving no room for the enemy’s return.

    Pray this:
“Heavenly Father, I acknowledge the evil patterns in my life that have made me feel helpless. I confess that my own strength has failed. Today, I ask for the help of the Holy Spirit, the Stronger Man. I engage with You now through worship and prayer. I break every demonic yoke over my life by the reason of Your anointing. I command every spirit of addiction, [name your specific pattern], to flee from me now in Jesus’ name! I reject a life of emptiness. I fill my life with Your Word and Your Spirit. I commit to a path of continual growth in prayer, fasting, study, and fellowship. Secure my victory permanently, Lord. Let my life be a occupied palace for Your glory alone. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.”

    Action Steps:

    1. Identify the Pattern: Name the specific cyclical sin or addiction you are battling.
    2. Shift Your Strategy: The next time you feel the pull of this pattern, do not try to fight it directly. Immediately begin to worship God out loud or pray in the Spirit for at least 15-20 minutes.
    3. Create a Maintenance Plan: Schedule daily time for Bible study and prayer. Commit to regular fasting (e.g., one day a week). Ensure you are in consistent fellowship at a Bible-believing church.
    4. Memorize Scripture: Find verses that promise victory over your specific struggle and declare them daily.
    5. Seek Help: If the pattern is deeply entrenched, do not be ashamed to seek help from your pastor or a mature Christian counselor for prayer and accountability.

Remember: Your willpower cannot break a demonic pattern, but your worship can. The battle is won not by focusing on defeating the devil but by focusing on delighting in God. Consistency in spiritual disciplines builds the anointing that automatically breaks the yoke. And your ultimate security lies not in a single moment of deliverance, but in a lifetime of being filled with the Holy Spirit.

    TOPIC: DIVINE TURNAROUND

    MEMORISE:

When the Lord turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream.
    Psalm 126:1

    READ: Matthew 17:14-18

14 And when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a certain man, kneeling down to him, and saying,
15 Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is lunatick, and sore vexed: for ofttimes he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water.
16 And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him.
17 Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me.
18 And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 26 SEPTEMBER 2025 TODAY MESSAGE

In 1984, a woman came to me from Oyo state in South-Western Nigeria for prayers concerning her finances. I told her, “Don’t worry, God will provide for you. You can go home now.” She said, “I cannot go home because I don’t have the money to travel back.” I didn’t have much then either, but I divided the little money I had into two and gave her one half – this happened in June.

By the following August, she came back and bought a big cow for the church’s annual convention. God can turn people’s stories around and make their lives better in a very short time.

Years ago, I heard the story of a woman who was barren. Her pastor had been praying with her for the fruit of the womb for several years, but nothing happened.

Finally, the pastor called her and said, “All the other barren women that l have prayed for have already become mothers. Why is your case different?” The woman then told the pastor that when she was young, she got pregnant and tried to have an abortion, which failed. To save her life, the doctors removed her womb.

The pastor asked, “Do you mean you have no womb?” The woman replied, “Yes”. The pastor asked again, “Then why are you asking me to pray that you become pregnant?” The woman replied, “But you’re the one who taught us that with God, nothing shall be impossible.”

From that day, the pastor began to avoid her. Anytime he saw the woman coming from one direction, he would walk away from her in the opposite direction. This went on for a while, and one day, the woman told herself, “It’s alright. If the pastor is avoiding me, I will look unto God and take my eyes off him.”

That night, she had a dream in which she was standing naked in a room. A huge man came through the wall with the skin of an animal in his hand. She became so frightened that she couldn’t move. When the man got to her, he wrapped the skin of the animal around her and disappeared. She woke up, shaking and sweating, but immediately, she knew that God had come to give her a new womb. Today, she is the mother of many beautiful children.

Beloved, Jesus is the master at turning negative situations around. If you are currently experiencing any negative situation in your life, I decree that God will give you a mighty turnaround, in Jesus’ name.

    KEY POINT

God can turn any negative situation around to reflect His glory

    BIBLE IN ONE YEAR

    Zephaniah 1-3

HYMN 25: THE GREAT PHYSICIANS NOW IS NEAR

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 26 SEPTEMBER 2025 COMMENTARY

    MEMORISE: Psalm 126:1 (KJV)
“When the LORD turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream.”
This verse captures the surreal, overwhelming joy that accompanies a sudden and dramatic divine turnaround. It feels so miraculous and unexpected that it seems like a dream. It is a celebration of God’s power to reverse irreversible situations and restore what was lost.

    BIBLE READING: Matthew 17:14-18 (KJV)
This passage recounts Jesus healing a boy with a lunatic ( epileptic) spirit that his disciples could not cure. Jesus rebukes the demon, and the child is healed “from that very hour.” This demonstrates Christ’s absolute authority over every negative, oppressive situation. His intervention brings an immediate and complete turnaround where human effort had failed.

    The God of Sudden Turnarounds

Daddy Adeboye’s message is a powerful testament to God’s ability to orchestrate dramatic reversals in a short period. The story of the woman from Oyo State illustrates this perfectly. In June, she was destitute, without even travel fare. By August—a mere two months later—she was a benefactor, able to donate a cow. This underscores that God’s economy is not bound by time or human lack. He can compress years of struggle into a moment of supernatural provision.

The Limit of Human Help and the Beginning of Faith

The second story is the heart of the devotional, presenting a profound theological truth. The pastor represented human help and limited faith. His ministry had boundaries; he could pray for a barren woman but was utterly confounded by a woman with no womb. His avoidance of her was an admission of his own spiritual limitation. This was a necessary crisis point for the woman. It forced her to shift her focus from the anointed man of God to the Almighty God Himself. Her declaration, “I will look unto God and take my eyes off him,” was the pivotal step of faith that unlocked her miracle. Sometimes, God allows our human support systems to fail so that we will place our entire trust in Him alone.

The Nature of Divine Turnarounds: Creating Something from Nothing

The woman’s dream is rich with symbolism. Her nakedness represented her vulnerability, shame, and total lack. The “huge man” was a divine messenger (likely an angel). The “skin of an animal” symbolizes a new covering, a new creation. In the Old Testament, God made garments of skin to cover Adam and Eve’s nakedness (Genesis 3:21), signifying a covering for sin and shame. In this case, God was providing a new womb—creating a vital organ from nothing. This is the essence of a God-class turnaround: He doesn’t just improve a situation; He creates entirely new realities where none existed before (Romans 4:17).

The Response to a Turnaround: Testimony and Celebration

The outcome of both testimonies is celebration and testimony. The woman from Oyo returned with a cow, a public offering that testified to God’s provision. The formerly barren woman became a “mother of many,” a living testament to God’s creative power. A true God-given turnaround is never just for private consumption; it is meant to be shared to build the faith of others and bring glory to God.

    The Decree for a Turnaround

The devotional concludes with a faith-filled decree, modeling the authority believers have to proclaim God’s turnaround in their lives. This is not a wish but a declaration of faith based on God’s nature and promises.

    Pray this:
“Father Lord, I thank You that You are the God of suddenlies and the Master of turnarounds. I bring my negative situation before You today: [mention your specific situation]. I confess that I have often looked to human solutions and have been disappointed. Today, I take my eyes off man and look solely to You. I believe that with You, nothing is impossible. I speak to every spirit of lack, barrenness, sickness, and failure in my life and command it to go now in Jesus’ name! I decree a mighty turnaround. Create newness where there is nothing. Restore what has been lost. Let my life become a dream of joy and a testimony of Your power that will cause many to glorify Your name. I receive it by faith right now. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.”

    Action Steps:

    1. Identify Your Captivity: Name the specific area of your life that needs a divine turnaround (e.g., financial debt, broken relationship, health issue, spiritual dryness).
    2. Shift Your Focus: Consciously stop relying on human aid alone. Make a quality decision to trust God completely for your solution.
    3. Decree and Declare: Use the authority of God’s Word (e.g., Psalm 126:1, Joel 2:25) to daily decree a turnaround over your situation. Speak to your “mountain.”
    4. Prepare for Testimony: Start acting and giving thanks as if the turnaround has already begun. The woman from Oyo prepared to give by faith before she had the cow.
    5. Share Your Story: When your turnaround comes, be sure to testify, just as the women in the devotional did, to encourage others and glorify God.

Remember: Your current situation is not your final destination. The same God who turned the captivity of Zion, who created a womb from nothing, and who provided a cow in two months is still alive. He specializes in making the impossible possible. Your moment of overwhelming, dream-like joy is coming. Believe it, declare it, and prepare to testify.

    TOPIC: JUST BELIEVE

    MEMORISE:

For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
    Mark 11:23

    READ: James 1:5-7:

5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 25 SEPTEMBER 2025 TODAY MESSAGE

Today’s Bible reading says that you should only ask God for things in faith. It further says that if you doubt, you should not expect to get anything from God. I know that some situations can look scary and tough, but if you want to live above those situations, you have to believe in God. In Matthew 14:28-29, Peter’s faith was unwavering when he told Jesus, ” bid me come unto thee on the water.

However, when he looked at the boisterous wind around him and stopped believing, he started to sink. No matter how tough things are, do not lose your faith.

When I got born again in The Redeemed Christian Church of God, I was extremely happy about my salvation, but I was very sickly. Every two weeks, I would be sick with malaria and would require medical treatment.

At that time, whenever Christians talked about healing without medication, I did not believe them. I used to say, “You have shown me the way to heaven; don’t send me there too quickly.”

Then, one day, I heard a testimony from an old man about how God miraculously healed him of a bent back, and immediately, my faith was aroused. I thank God that since that time, that faith has been getting stronger daily. If you want to see great miracles in your life, believe what God has said. If He has done mighty wonders before, He can do them again and again.

I once went to a Kenneth Hagin campmeeting in the United States of America and saw about

7,000 people in one convention. I had never seen anything like that before because, at that time, the entire congregation of The Redeemed Christian Church of God was less than 1,000.

However, while on the plane back to Nigeria, I told those who went with me that, one day, our pastors alone would be more than 17,000. They didn’t believe me. Today, God has surpassed my expectations.

When you have faith in God, He sets you up to break records. He makes you a wonder unto many when you believe.

Science says prove it, and I will believe you. However, God says believe Me, then I will prove it. When God asks you to do something, believe Him. Don’t try to add or remove from what He has said. Just believe, and He will do exceeding abundantly above all that you ask or think (Ephesians 3:20).

    PRAYER POINT

Father, please help me to believe everything Your word has said concerning me so l can experience Your glory, in Jesus’ name.

    BIBLE IN ONE YEAR

    Habakkuk 1-3

HYMN 58: MY HOPE IS BUILT ON NOTHING ELSE

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 25 SEPTEMBER 2025 COMMENTARY

    MEMORISE: Mark 11:23 (KJV)
“For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.”
This verse establishes the absolute authority of faith-filled words that are rooted in belief. It presents faith not as a passive feeling but as a creative force that speaks to obstacles (“mountains”) and expects them to obey. The critical condition is the absence of doubt in the heart.

    BIBLE READING: James 1:5-7 (KJV)
“5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. 6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. 7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.”
This passage reinforces the non-negotiable link between prayer and faith. God’s generous nature is ready to give, but the conduit for receiving is unwavering faith. Doubt is depicted as instability that disrupts the connection between God’s provision and our reception.

The Anatomy of Faith and Doubt

Daddy Adeboye’s message centers on the continuous battle between faith and doubt. Using the example of Peter walking on water (Matthew 14:28-31), he illustrates that faith enables the supernatural (walking on water), while doubt invites sinking. The “boisterous wind” represents the intimidating circumstances that challenge our belief. The key is to keep our focus on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2), rather than on the storm.

The Personal Testimony: From Sickness to Faith

The devotional is powerful because it is grounded in the writer’s own struggle. His admission of being “very sickly” and his skepticism toward divine healing (“don’t send me there too quickly”) make his testimony relatable. The turning point was not a theological argument but a testimony from an old man. This underscores a vital principle: “Faith cometh by hearing… the word of God” (Romans 10:17).Hearing how God worked for someone else can ignite faith for your own situation. His journey from disbelief to a faith that “has been getting stronger daily” models the process of nurturing a growing faith.

Faith as a Catalyst for the Impossible

The testimony about the RCCG’s growth is a monumental example of faith in action. The vision of having “17,000 pastors” when the entire church was under 1,000 seemed ludicrous to others. This was a “mountain” of impossibility. However, Daddy Adeboye did not just have a private thought; he spokethe vision (Mark 11:23). He believed what God had placed in his heart despite contradictory evidence. The result is a historical record of God doing “exceeding abundantly above all that [he] ask[ed] or thought” (Ephesians 3:20). This demonstrates that faith is the seed for future harvests of miracles and expansion.

The Divine Order: Believe First, See Later

The devotional concludes with a brilliant contrast between the world’s system and God’s system:

    • The World (Science): “Prove it, and I will believe you.” This is sight-based, requiring evidence before belief.
    • God’s Kingdom: “Believe Me, then I will prove it.” This is faith-based, requiring belief before evidence manifests.

This is the essence of walking with God. He calls us to trust His character and His word first. The proof follows the belief. This requires surrendering our need for control and empirical evidence and stepping out in obedient trust.

    The Warning Against Diluted Faith

The instruction, “Don’t try to add or remove from what He has said,” is a warning against the doubt that manifests as negotiation or compromise with God’s word. True faith takes God at His word exactly as it is, without watering it down or adding human reasoning to it.

    Pray this:
“Lord Jesus, I come before You today acknowledging the areas where doubt has caused me to sink. I choose to fix my eyes on You, not on the boisterous winds around me. I ask that You would increase my faith. Help me to hear and believe Your promises without wavering. I renounce the need to see before I believe. I declare that I operate by Your kingdom principle: I believe, and then I will see Your glory. I speak to every mountain of sickness, lack, and impossibility in my life and command it to be removed and cast into the sea. I receive Your exceeding abundant answer to my prayers right now, in Jesus’ name. Amen.”

    Action Steps:

    1. Identify Your Mountain: What is the specific, seemingly immovable problem in your life? Name it.
    2. Find a Promise: Locate a specific Scripture that promises God’s solution or provision for that area.
    3. Speak to the Mountain: Daily, using the authority of Mark 11:23, speak directly to that problem and command it to move in alignment with God’s promise.
    4. Guard Against Doubt: When doubts or negative thoughts arise, immediately counter them by speaking your Scripture promise out loud.
    5. Feed Your Faith: Intentionally listen to testimonies (sermons, books, conversations) of God’s miracles to build your faith, just as the testimony of the old man did for Daddy Adeboye.

Remember: Faith is the currency of the kingdom. It is the hand that receives from God. Doubt is not just the absence of faith; it is an active force that blocks blessings. You have a choice every day: to look at the waves and sink, or to look at Jesus and walk on the water. Choose to believe first. Speak the word. For the God who commands mountains to move is waiting on your faith to command it.

TOPIC: WHAT YOU SEE IS WHAT YOU GET

    MEMORISE:

For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever.
    Genesis 13:15

    READ: Numbers 13:16-33:

16 These are the names of the men which Moses sent to spy out the land. And Moses called Oshea the son of Nun Jehoshua.
17 And Moses sent them to spy out the land of Canaan, and said unto them, Get you up this way southward, and go up into the mountain:
    18 And see the land, what it is, and the people that dwelleth therein, whether they be strong or weak, few or many;
    19 And what the land is that they dwell in, whether it be good or bad; and what cities they be that they dwell in, whether in tents, or in strong holds;
20 And what the land is, whether it be fat or lean, whether there be wood therein, or not. And be ye of good courage, and bring of the fruit of the land. Now the time was the time of the firstripe grapes.

21 So they went up, and searched the land from the wilderness of Zin unto Rehob, as men come to Hamath.
22 And they ascended by the south, and came unto Hebron; where Ahiman, Sheshai, and Talmai, the children of Anak, were. (Now Hebron was built seven years before Zoan in Egypt.)
23 And they came unto the brook of Eshcol, and cut down from thence a branch with one cluster of grapes, and they bare it between two upon a staff; and they brought of the pomegranates, and of the figs.
24 The place was called the brook Eshcol, because of the cluster of grapes which the children of Israel cut down from thence.
25 And they returned from searching of the land after forty days.

26 And they went and came to Moses, and to Aaron, and to all the congregation of the children of Israel, unto the wilderness of Paran, to Kadesh; and brought back word unto them, and unto all the congregation, and shewed them the fruit of the land.
27 And they told him, and said, We came unto the land whither thou sentest us, and surely it floweth with milk and honey; and this is the fruit of it.
28 Nevertheless the people be strong that dwell in the land, and the cities are walled, and very great: and moreover we saw the children of Anak there.
29 The Amalekites dwell in the land of the south: and the Hittites, and the Jebusites, and the Amorites, dwell in the mountains: and the Canaanites dwell by the sea, and by the coast of Jordan.

30 And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.
31 But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.
32 And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature.
33 And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 24 SEPTEMBER 2025 TODAY MESSAGE

God and Abraham had a conversation one night in Genesis 15:3-6, and Abraham reminded God that He had not given him an heir. In response, God told him to go outside and see if he could count the stars. He then told him that his children would be as many as the stars. You might wonder, “Why did God have to tell Abraham to go outside and look at the stars? Why didn’t He just tell him that his descendants would be so many that it would be impossible to count them?” I believe it was because God needed Abraham to see what he would be getting.

Similarly, in Genesis 13:14-17, God told Abraham, “All the land you see shall be yours.” He also said, “Move away from where you are, walk through the land as far as you can, and it shall all be yours.” God knew that for Abraham to own the land, he had to first have a vision of it.

In any situation you find yourself, what you see is what you will get. In an economy where people complain that things are tough, if you see poverty, that is what you will get; likewise, if you see abundance, you will experience it. In a situation where doctors say there is no hope, if you see life, you will have life. All you have to do is regulate your faith to see only what Jesus has promised you, and that is what you will get.

In today’s Bible reading, Moses sent the twelve spies to check out the land of Canaan, and they came back with reports. While Caleb and Joshua saw themselves inhabiting the land, the remaining ten spies saw giants and a land that swallowed up its inhabitants. Joshua and Caleb saw God’s mighty ability, but the others saw themselves as grasshoppers. In the end, everyone got what they saw. The ten spies were swallowed up in the wilderness while Joshua and Caleb got into the land and inhabited it (Numbers 32:11-12).

Beloved, what do you see in your life, marriage, or career? Whatever you see is what you will get. If you see victory, you will walk in it. However, if you see defeat, you will experience it. God wants you to see correctly, and the only way to do this is to know what He says in His word. What has God said about your home, children, career, health, and life?

Believe His promises concerning you, and they shall come to pass.

    KEY POINT

No matter the circumstances that surround you, stand by what God has promised in His word.

    BIBLE IN ONE YEAR

    Nahum 1-3

HYMN 21: STANDING ON THE PROMISES OF CHRIST MY KING

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 24 SEPTEMBER 2025 COMMENTARY

    MEMORISE: Genesis 13:15 (KJV)
“For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever.”
This verse is the foundation of the principle of “seeing to possess.” God’s promise to Abraham was directly tied to his field of vision. The inheritance was not abstract; it was directly correlated to what Abraham could physically see and, by extension, spiritually perceive.

    BIBLE READING: Numbers 13:16-33 (KJV)
This passage is the definitive biblical case study on the power of vision. Twelve men saw the same land—the same grapes, the same cities, the same giants. Yet, ten returned with a report of impossibility, focused on the obstacles (“we were in our own sight as grasshoppers,” v. 33). Two, Caleb and Joshua, returned with a report of victory, focused on the promise (“Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it,” v. 30). Their perception dictated their destiny.

    The Principle of Visual Faith

Daddy Adeboye’s message centers on a critical spiritual law: “What you see is what you will get.” This is not a call to naive positive thinking but to a faith that is visually oriented by God’s promises. God’s command for Abraham to “look” at the stars and the land was not because God needed to show off; it was because Abraham needed to see the promise to fully believe and receive it. Faith has a visual component—it is the “evidence of things not seen” (Hebrews 11:1), meaning it creates a reality in the spiritual realm that eventually manifests in the natural.

    Two Realities, Two Reports

The story of the twelve spies perfectly illustrates the conflict between two perceptions:

    • The Reality of Circumstance (The Ten Spies): They saw through the lens of human ability. They saw giants, fortified cities, and their own inadequacy. Their vision was governed by fear and natural facts.
    • The Reality of Promise (Caleb and Joshua): They saw through the lens of divine ability. They saw the same things but interpreted them through the filter of God’s promise. They saw a land “exceedingly good” (v. 19) that God was giving them. Their vision was governed by faith and God’s facts.

The profound outcome was that both groups got exactly what they saw. The ten saw themselves as grasshoppers destined for defeat, and they died in the wilderness. Joshua and Caleb saw themselves as giants in the Spirit, well able to possess the land, and they inherited it.

    Regulating Your Sight

The devotional provides the practical key: “All you have to do is regulate your faith to see only what Jesus has promised you.” This is an active, intentional process. It means:

    • Rejecting the Narrative of Circumstance: In a tough economy, you must refuse to “see” poverty. When facing a bad medical report, you must refuse to “see” death.
    • Adopting the Narrative of Promise: You must choose to “see” abundance because God supplies all your needs (Philippians 4:19). You must choose to “see” life and healing by His stripes (Isaiah 53:5).

    The Source of Correct Vision

The message clarifies that this is not about blind optimism. The only way to “see correctly” is to “know what He says in His word.” God’s Word is the lens through which we must view every situation. Our natural sight will always show us the giants and the walls. Our spiritual sight, informed by Scripture, shows us the victory and the inheritance. We must constantly ask: “What has God said?” and allow that to overwrite what everyone else is saying.

    The End Result: Manifested Promise

The ultimate result of spiritual sight is manifestation. Believing God’s promises concerning your home, children, career, and health is not a passive hope; it is an active force that calls those things into being (Romans 4:17). When you see what God sees and say what God says, you align yourself with His creative power, and “they shall come to pass.”

    Pray this:
“Heavenly Father, I repent for seeing through the lens of my circumstances and my fears. Today, I ask for the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of You. I ask that the eyes of my understanding be enlightened (Ephesians 1:17-18). Help me to see my life, my family, and my future only through the promises of Your Word. Destroy every image of lack, sickness, and failure in my mind. Let the vision of Your will—of abundance, health, and victory—be so clear and strong in my spirit that it overrules every natural contradiction. I choose to see what You see, Lord. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

    Action Steps:

    1. Identify the Giant: What specific situation in your life are you currently seeing negatively? (e.g., a financial debt, a health issue, a struggling child).
    2. Find the Promise: Search the Scriptures for God’s promise that contradicts that negative reality (e.g., for debt: Philippians 4:19; for healing: 1 Peter 2:24; for children: Isaiah 54:13).
    3. Write the Vision: Write down the Scripture promise. Keep it before your eyes—on your mirror, phone, dashboard. Speak it out loud daily.
    4. Renounce the Old Report: Verbally reject the negative report you have been believing. Say, “I refuse to see lack. I see God’s supply. I refuse to see sickness. I see God’s healing.”
    5. Act on Your Sight: Start making decisions and speaking as if the promise is already manifested. This is the walk of faith that pleases God.

Remember: Your eyes are the lamp of your body. What you choose to focus on will fill your entire being with either light or darkness. You are not a victim of your circumstances; you are a visionary of your destiny. See the stars. See the land. See the victory. For what you see by faith, you will surely possess in experience.

    TOPIC: ANSWER THE DOOR

    MEMORISE:

Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
    Revelation 3:20

    READ: John 10:27-28:

27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 23 SEPTEMBER 2025 TODAY MESSAGE

Today’s memory verse says that Jesus is standing at the door of your heart right now, knocking and waiting for you to let Him in.

Every time you hear a word from God that convicts you of sin, that is Jesus saying, “Let me into your heart so I can cleanse your heart of sin.” You have no idea what Jesus Christ can do for you when you let Him into your heart. The moment you let Jesus in, your past will no longer determine your future – only Jesus will.

With Jesus living in you, your future will only get brighter and brighter (Proverbs 4:18).

You may say, “I already let Jesus into my heart some time ago.” That is good, but do you still get convicted of certain sins when you listen to a sermon or read your Bible? If yes, that means there are some parts of your life that Jesus hasn’t taken over yet, and He is knocking on the door of your heart so you can let Him in.

There is no partial salvation; Ephesians 5:27 says that Jesus is coming for a bride without blemish or wrinkle. If there’s still a blemish in your life, surrender it completely to Jesus Christ today.

You may also say, “I have a good relationship with Jesus.” However, there is more. David described a relationship with God as a journey into the deep. He said, “Deep calleth unto deep.” (Psalm 42:7).

After walking, eating, and talking with Jesus during His earthly ministry for three and a half years, John saw Him in a vision in Revelation 4:1, and Jesus told him, ” Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter.”

There are always higher realms in God, and Jesus is standing at the door of your heart, knocking and calling you to come up higher. It is not enough to just confess Jesus as your Lord and Saviour; there is more. God wants you to operate in His miraculous power (Mark 16:17-18). He wants you to be an agent of change, but you need the power of the Holy Spirit to do that. There will always be higher doors to enter and deeper realms to access in God.

Beloved, Jesus is knocking at the door of your heart today. He is calling you to higher and deeper levels in your relationship with Him.

Open your heart to Him; He will beautify your life with His glory and make you an agent of change for His kingdom.

    PRAYER POINT

Lord Jesus, I open my heart to You. Please lead me into more glorious levels in You, in Jesus’ name.

    BIBLE IN ONE YEAR

    Micah 5-7

HYMN 23: TAKE MY LIFE AND LET IT BE

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 23 SEPTEMBER 2025 COMMENTARY

    MEMORISE: Revelation 3:20 (KJV)
“Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.”
This verse, though written to a lukewarm church, captures the patient, persistent invitation of Christ to every heart. He does not force entry; He knocks, waiting for a willing response. The promise of intimate fellowship (“sup with him”) is conditional upon our act of opening the door.

    BIBLE READING: John 10:27-28 (KJV)
“27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: 28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.”
This passage describes the secure, intimate relationship between Jesus and His true followers. The key markers are recognizing His voice and following Him. This implies an ongoing, responsive relationship, not a one-time event.

    The Continuous Invitation of Christ

Daddy Adeboye presents a nuanced and powerful interpretation of Revelation 3:20. He explains that Jesus’s knock is not merely for initial salvation but is a continuous reality for the believer. Every time the Holy Spirit convicts us of sin through a sermon or Scripture, it is Jesus knocking on the door of that specific area of our life, asking for full access and lordship. This view transforms conviction from a feeling of guilt into an invitation to deeper intimacy and cleansing.

Beyond Initial Salvation: The Journey of Sanctification

The devotional makes a critical distinction between justification (being saved from sin’s penalty) and sanctification (being saved from sin’s power and being conformed to Christ’s image). It challenges the believer who says, “I already let Jesus in,” by asking if they still feel conviction. This indicates that salvation is both a moment and a process. The goal, as stated from Ephesians 5:27, is to become a spotless bride, which requires a daily surrendering of every “blemish” or area that has not yet been fully yielded to Christ.

    The Call to Deeper Realms

The message powerfully argues that a relationship with Jesus is not static; it is a dynamic journey into ever-deeper realms of His presence and power. Three examples are used:

    1. David’s “Deep Calleth unto Deep” (Psalm 42:7): This signifies the Holy Spirit’s call to move beyond the shallow waters of surface-level Christianity into the profound depths of God’s Spirit.
    2. John’s “Come Up Hither” (Revelation 4:1): Even after three and a half years of walking physically with Jesus, John was invited to a higher revelation. This shows that there is always more to see, know, and experience in God.
    3. The Promise of Miraculous Power (Mark 16:17-18): God’s desire is for every believer to operate in the supernatural as an “agent of change.” This is not for a select few but for all who are willing to open the door to the deeper work of the Holy Spirit.

    The Purpose of the Knock

The knocking of Jesus has a dual purpose:

    1. For Cleansing: To enter and cleanse us from every sin and blemish, making us holy.
    2. For Empowerment: To come in and fill us with His power, making us effective witnesses and catalysts for kingdom advancement.

Our response to His knock determines whether we live a life of gradual beautification by His glory or remain stagnant and complacent.

    Pray this:
“Lord Jesus, I hear You knocking. I acknowledge that there are areas of my heart and life that I have not fully surrendered to You. Forgive me for my complacency. Today, I open every door—the door of my past hurts, my secret sins, my future plans, and my spiritual hunger. Come in, Lord Jesus. Cleanse every blemish. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit. I answer Your call to ‘come up higher.’ Draw me into deeper realms of Your presence and power. Make me an agent of change for Your kingdom, operating in the miraculous for Your glory. I surrender all. Amen.”

    Action Steps:

    1. Listen for the Knock: After prayer, be still and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal one specific area of your life where Jesus is knocking for access (e.g., a habit, a relationship, a attitude, a fear).
    2. Open the Door: Make a conscious decision to surrender that area completely to Christ. Verbally confess it and renounce any hold it has on you.
    3. Study the Depths: Commit to studying one of the “deeper” passages mentioned (Psalm 42, Revelation 4, Mark 16). Ask God to reveal more of Himself to you.
    4. Step Out in Power: Believe that Mark 16:17-18 is for you. Look for an opportunity this week to pray for someone’s need in Jesus’ name, stepping out in faith to be an “agent of change.”
    5. Cultivate Sensitivity: Practice listening for the Lord’s voice throughout your day. His knock can come through a Bible verse, a sermon, a godly counsel, or a convicting thought.

Remember: Jesus is perpetually standing at the door of your heart, not to condemn you, but to invite you into a greater measure of His holiness and power. Your Christian life should be a series of ever-deepening yeses to His knock. Do not be content with the revelation of yesterday; press in for the deeper call of today. For in His presence, there is endless discovery, and in His power, there is limitless possibility.

    TOPIC: HAVE YOU ENCOUNTERED JESUS?

    MEMORISE:

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
    John 1:1

    READ: Acts 9:1-6

1 And Saul, yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went unto the high priest,
2 And desired of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any of this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound unto Jerusalem.
3 And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven:
4 And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?

5 And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.
6 And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 22 SEPTEMBER 2025 TODAY MESSAGE

One can easily assume that everyone who attends church regularly or functions in a department within a church has encountered Jesus. However, in my experience, I have realised that many people are working hard in the Lord’s vineyard but haven’t had an encounter with Him. They know a lot about Him, but they don’t know Him.

Paul thought he knew God until the day he had an encounter with Jesus Christ. When you truly meet Jesus, you will become a completely new person. Before Paul met Jesus, he persecuted believers. However, when he met Him, his story changed.

In 1 Timothy 1:13-16, he spoke about his horrible past as a blasphemer, a persecutor, and an injurious person, and how he obtained mercy from God. In Christ, he became a Chief Apostle (2 Corinthians 11:5) and fulfilled his destiny (2 Timothy 4:6- 7).

Peter was just another fisherman from Galilee before he met Jesus. However, when he met Jesus, he was given a glorious destiny (Luke 5:10). Even when he failed and denied Jesus, his future was still secure because of his encounter with Jesus. When a man meets Jesus, his failures and weaknesses become part of his success story because God works all things together for his good (Romans 8:28).

Isaiah thought he knew God until he had an encounter in Isaiah 6 that changed his life.

When he saw the Lord in His glory, he fell on his face and cried, “… Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts” (Isaiah 6:5). After meeting the Lord, Isaiah was willing to go wherever the Lord sent Him. When you truly meet Jesus, all your excuses will be burnt away like chaff.

Beloved, if you genuinely want to meet Jesus, make it mandatory for yourself to study God’s word every day. Revelation 19:13 says that He is the Word of God. When you study the word of God, you are fellowshipping with Jesus Christ. The more of God’s word you study, the closer you will get to Him. It will be difficult at first because the devil will try to stop you, but as you keep at it, you will discover that you are being transformed because you are getting to know the Son of God for yourself.

    PRAYER POINT

Lord Jesus, please reveal yourself to me in Your word. I want to know You more and follow You for the rest of my life.

    BIBLE IN ONE YEAR

    Micah 1-4

    HYMN 2: AMAZING GRACE

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 22 SEPTEMBER 2025 COMMENTARY

    MEMORISE: John 1:1 (KJV)
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
This profound verse establishes the eternal, divine nature of Jesus Christ. He is not a created being; He is God Himself. He is identified as “the Word” (Greek: Logos)—the ultimate expression, communication, and revelation of the Father’s heart, mind, and character to humanity.

    BIBLE READING: Acts 9:1-6 (KJV)
This passage details the dramatic conversion of Saul of Tarsus on the road to Damascus. It is the quintessential example of a life radically transformed by a personal encounter with the risen Christ. Saul, a fervent persecutor of the church, was confronted by a blinding light and the audible voice of Jesus. This encounter instantly shattered his religious assumptions and set him on a new path to become Paul the Apostle.

The Crisis of the Unencountered Christian

Daddy Adeboye begins with a sobering and critical observation: many people are active in church activities but have never had a genuine, life-altering encounter with Jesus Christ. They know about Him through sermons, songs, and sermons, but they do not know Him personally. This is the difference between religion and relationship, between head knowledge and heart transformation.

The Transformative Power of a True Encounter

The devotional uses three powerful biblical examples to illustrate what a true encounter produces:

    1. Paul (Acts 9): His encounter led to a complete identity shift—from persecutor to apostle. It brought a deep awareness of sin and a profound experience of mercy (1 Timothy 1:13-16). His past became a testimony of grace rather than a source of shame.
    2. Peter (Luke 5:1-11): His encounter redefined his purpose—from fisherman to “fisher of men.” Even his subsequent failure (denying Christ) could not cancel his destiny because it was secured by the encounter. His weakness was woven into his success story (Romans 8:28).
    3. Isaiah (Isaiah 6): His encounter in the temple was one of overwhelming holiness. It didn’t make him proud; it shattered him, revealing his own sinfulness and unworthiness (“Woe is me! I am undone!”). This brokenness was the prerequisite for his commissioning (“Here am I; send me”).

    The Common Thread: Heart Transformation

In each case, the encounter resulted in:

    • Awareness of Sin: A deep, personal conviction of one’s own state before a holy God.
    • Surrender of Will: A abandonment of personal plans and excuses, replaced by a willingness to go wherever God sends.
    • A New Identity and Purpose: A fundamental reordering of life’s priorities around God’s calling.

The Pathway to Encounter: Fellowship with the Word

The devotional provides the clear, practical pathway to encountering Jesus: consistent, mandatory study of God’s Word. The logic is impeccable based on John 1:1 and Revelation 19:13:

    • Jesus is the Word.
    • Therefore, to engage with the Word is to engage with Jesus.
    • Studying the Bible is not a religious duty; it is “fellowshipping with Jesus Christ.”

This is how intellectual knowledge about God becomes a heart knowledge of God. As we immerse ourselves in the Scriptures, the Holy Spirit makes the written word a living word, and we hear the voice of the Author speaking directly to our hearts.

    The Battle and The Reward

The message is honest about the process: “It will be difficult at first because the devil will try to stop you.” The enemy fears nothing more than a believer who is moving from casual acquaintance to intimate encounter with Christ. However, the reward is promised: “as you keep at it, you will discover that you are being transformed.” Encounter leads to transformation (2 Corinthians 3:18).

    Pray this:
“Lord Jesus, I come to You today. I confess that I want more than just knowledge about You; I crave a genuine, life-changing encounter with You, the Living Word. Reveal Yourself to me. Shatter my religious complacency and reveal Your holiness that I might see my own sin. Forgive me for my excuses and my neglect of Your Word. Holy Spirit, give me a hunger and a discipline to study the Bible daily. As I read, speak to me. Transform me from the inside out. Let my life be a testament to the power of truly knowing You. Amen.”

    Action Steps:

    1. Honest Evaluation: Ask yourself honestly: “Have I truly encountered Jesus, or am I just functioning on religious activity and second-hand knowledge?”
    2. Commit to Daily Appointment: Schedule a non-negotiable time each day to read and meditate on the Bible. Start with the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, John) to see Jesus most clearly.
    3. Pray Before Reading: Before you open the Word, pray Psalm 119:18: “Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.” Ask the Holy Spirit to speak.
    4. Journal: Write down what you feel God is saying to you through His Word. This helps to solidify the encounter.
    5. Obey Promptings: As God reveals areas of your life that need to change through His Word, obey immediately. Obedience deepens intimacy.

Remember: Your Christianity is only as powerful as your personal encounter with Christ. Church activity without a heart encounter leads to burnout and emptiness. But one moment in the presence of Jesus can rewrite your entire story. Don’t be content with knowing about Him. Press in through His Word until you know Him, and in knowing Him, you are forever transformed.

    TOPIC: TIME AND CHANCE

    MEMORISE:

    I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill;
    Ecclesiastes 9:11

    READ: 1 Samuel 17:12-50:

12 Now David was the son of that Ephrathite of Bethlehemjudah, whose name was Jesse; and he had eight sons: and the man went among men for an old man in the days of Saul.
13 And the three eldest sons of Jesse went and followed Saul to the battle: and the names of his three sons that went to the battle were Eliab the firstborn, and next unto him Abinadab, and the third Shammah.
14 And David was the youngest: and the three eldest followed Saul.
15 But David went and returned from Saul to feed his father’s sheep at Bethlehem.

16 And the Philistine drew near morning and evening, and presented himself forty days.
    17 And Jesse said unto David his son, Take now for thy brethren an ephah of this parched corn, and these ten loaves, and run to the camp of thy brethren;
18 And carry these ten cheeses unto the captain of their thousand, and look how thy brethren fare, and take their pledge.
19 Now Saul, and they, and all the men of Israel, were in the valley of Elah, fighting with the Philistines.
20 And David rose up early in the morning, and left the sheep with a keeper, and took, and went, as Jesse had commanded him; and he came to the trench, as the host was going forth to the fight, and shouted for the battle.

21 For Israel and the Philistines had put the battle in array, army against army.
22 And David left his carriage in the hand of the keeper of the carriage, and ran into the army, and came and saluted his brethren.
23 And as he talked with them, behold, there came up the champion, the Philistine of Gath, Goliath by name, out of the armies of the Philistines, and spake according to the same words: and David heard them.
24 And all the men of Israel, when they saw the man, fled from him, and were sore afraid.
25 And the men of Israel said, Have ye seen this man that is come up? surely to defy Israel is he come up: and it shall be, that the man who killeth him, the king will enrich him with great riches, and will give him his daughter, and make his father’s house free in Israel.

26 And David spake to the men that stood by him, saying, What shall be done to the man that killeth this Philistine, and taketh away the reproach from Israel? for who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?
27 And the people answered him after this manner, saying, So shall it be done to the man that killeth him.
28 And Eliab his eldest brother heard when he spake unto the men; and Eliab’s anger was kindled against David, and he said, Why camest thou down hither? and with whom hast thou left those few sheep in the wilderness? I know thy pride, and the naughtiness of thine heart; for thou art come down that thou mightest see the battle.
29 And David said, What have I now done? Is there not a cause?
30 And he turned from him toward another, and spake after the same manner: and the people answered him again after the former manner.

31 And when the words were heard which David spake, they rehearsed them before Saul: and he sent for him.
32 And David said to Saul, Let no man’s heart fail because of him; thy servant will go and fight with this Philistine.
33 And Saul said to David, Thou art not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him: for thou art but a youth, and he a man of war from his youth.
34 And David said unto Saul, Thy servant kept his father’s sheep, and there came a lion, and a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock:
35 And I went out after him, and smote him, and delivered it out of his mouth: and when he arose against me, I caught him by his beard, and smote him, and slew him.

36 Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he hath defied the armies of the living God.
37 David said moreover, The Lord that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said unto David, Go, and the Lord be with thee.
38 And Saul armed David with his armour, and he put an helmet of brass upon his head; also he armed him with a coat of mail.
39 And David girded his sword upon his armour, and he assayed to go; for he had not proved it. And David said unto Saul, I cannot go with these; for I have not proved them. And David put them off him.
40 And he took his staff in his hand, and chose him five smooth stones out of the brook, and put them in a shepherd’s bag which he had, even in a scrip; and his sling was in his hand: and he drew near to the Philistine.

41 And the Philistine came on and drew near unto David; and the man that bare the shield went before him.
42 And when the Philistine looked about, and saw David, he disdained him: for he was but a youth, and ruddy, and of a fair countenance.
43 And the Philistine said unto David, Am I a dog, that thou comest to me with staves? And the Philistine cursed David by his gods.
44 And the Philistine said to David, Come to me, and I will give thy flesh unto the fowls of the air, and to the beasts of the field.
45 Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the Lordof hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied.

46 This day will the Lord deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.
47 And all this assembly shall know that the Lord saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is the Lord’s, and he will give you into our hands.
48 And it came to pass, when the Philistine arose, and came, and drew nigh to meet David, that David hastened, and ran toward the army to meet the Philistine.
49 And David put his hand in his bag, and took thence a stone, and slang it, and smote the Philistine in his forehead, that the stone sunk into his forehead; and he fell upon his face to the earth.
50 So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and smote the Philistine, and slew him; but there was no sword in the hand of David.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 21 SEPTEMBER 2025 TODAY MESSAGE

There is a popular saying that good luck is when opportunity meets preparation – this is very true. A person can dream about achieving a particular feat, but if he or she does not prepare adequately towards this, when the opportunity comes, the fellow will be caught unawares and it will become obvious that he or she never prepared for it.

In today’s Bible reading, you will observe that David had been preparing himself for war while he was in the desert tending sheep. He had no weapons, but he continually trained until he mastered how to use a sling perfectly. His ‘lucky day’ came when he encountered Goliath and defeated him with just one swing of his sling.

So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and smote the Philistine, and slew him; but there was no sword in the hand of David. 1 Samuel 17:50

Unlike David, Rehoboam wasn’t prepared for the throne of Israel. Although he was the son of King Solomon, who many consider to be Israel’s wisest king, he was very foolish. He was the heir to the throne, and it would have been expected that he would have been preparing for the day he would become king. Unfortunately, he wasn’t prepared for something that he knew was coming, and he failed (2 Chronicles 10:1-19).

When a student knows that a school examination is coming and he or she doesn’t prepare, such a student can be said to be foolish. As a member of staff in an organisation, when a fellow knows that there will be regular performance appraisals and doesn’t do his or her job well, that fellow is foolish and cannot be promoted. If a pastor who knows that he or she will preach a message on Sunday does not fast, pray, or study for the message, he or she is the devil hindering his or her own growth. When the time for a big breakthrough comes in your life, I pray that you will be prepared, in Jesus’ name.

Today’s memory verse says that time and chance happens to every human being on the earth. This means that every human being on the earth will have opportunities to advance in life. However, only those who are prepared will recognise those opportunities when they come and maximise them.

Beloved, you must continuously increase your capacity, especially in areas you are seeking advancement so that when opportunities come your way, you will be prepared to make the best of them.

    REFLECTION

What are you doing now to prepare for the day your big opportunity comes?

    BIBLE IN ONE YEAR

    Jonah 1-4

HYMN 26: THERE SHALL BE SHOWERS OF BLESSINGS

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 21 SEPTEMBER 2025 COMMENTARY

    MEMORISE: Ecclesiastes 9:11 (KJV)
“I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.”
This verse presents a divine perspective on success. It acknowledges that natural advantages like speed, strength, wisdom, and skill are not the sole determinants of victory. The phrase “time and chance” (Hebrew: ‘eth ve pega‘) refers to appointed opportunities and decisive moments that God orchestrates for every person. Success, therefore, is when preparation meets this God-ordained opportunity.

BIBLE READING: 1 Samuel 17:12-50 (KJV)
This passage is the classic account of David and Goliath. It meticulously contrasts the unpreparedness of Saul’s army (v. 11, 24) with the meticulous preparation of David. David’s confidence (v. 32-37) was not bravado but the assurance of tested skill and proven faith. His victory (v. 48-50) was the direct result of countless hours spent in obscurity, practicing with his sling against lions and bears, and cultivating a deep trust in God.

    The Principle of Preparedness

Daddy Adeboye’s message centers on a universal principle: opportunity is useless without preparation. “Good luck” is redefined not as random fortune, but as the moment when a God-sent opportunity intersects with a person who is ready to seize it. The devotional interprets that dreams and destinies are not fulfilled by wishful thinking but by diligent, often hidden, preparation.

    David: The Model of Preparation

David’s story is broken down to reveal the components of true preparation:

    • Skill Development: He “mastered how to use a sling” through constant practice while tending sheep. This represents honing your natural and spiritual gifts in private.
    • Faith Development: His testimony of God delivering him from the lion and the bear (v. 34-37) shows that his confidence was in God, not just his skill. His private victories built his public faith.
    • Rejection of Inappropriate Armor: He refused Saul’s armor because he had not “proved it” (v. 39). This signifies staying true to how God has trained and equipped you, rather than trying to imitate others.

Rehoboam: The Cautionary Tale of Unpreparedness

In stark contrast, Rehoboam is presented as the archetype of the unprepared heir. Despite having every advantage—being the son of the wisest king, with foreknowledge of his succession—he failed because he neglected to prepare his character, wisdom, and leadership skills. His story teaches that knowing about a future event is not the same as preparing for it. This applies to Christians who know about Christ’s return but live unprepared lives.

    Application Across Spheres of Life

The devotional applies this principle to various arenas:

    • Students: Examination failure is directly linked to a lack of study.
    • Employees: Lack of promotion is tied to poor job performance despite knowing appraisal criteria.
    • Ministers: Ineffective ministry results from neglecting prayer, study, and preparation for sermons.
In each case, the individual becomes the “devil hindering his or her own growth” through a lack of discipline.

The Divine Role and Human Responsibility

The message balances divine sovereignty with human responsibility. God is the one who orchestrates “time and chance”—the opportunities. Our responsibility is to “continuously increase your capacity” through:

    • Skill Acquisition: Learning and improving in your field.
    • Spiritual Discipline: Praying, fasting, and studying the Word to sharpen spiritual sensitivity.
    • Character Development: Cultivating integrity, faithfulness, and wisdom.

This preparation ensures that when God’s appointed moment arrives, we are ready to “recognise” it and “maximise” it for His glory.

    Pray this:
“Heavenly Father, I thank You for the destiny You have planned for me and the opportunities You will send my way. Forgive me for times of laziness and procrastination. I ask for a spirit of discipline and diligence. Help me to prepare faithfully in the secret place, like David in the wilderness. Develop my skills, strengthen my faith, and build my character so that when the ‘time and chance’ You have appointed for me arrives, I will be ready to prevail. I refuse to be a Rehoboam, squandering my inheritance through a lack of preparation. Make me a person of preparation, in Jesus’ name. Amen.”

    Action Steps:

    1. Identify Your “Goliath”: What is the big challenge or goal in your future? (e.g., a career position, a ministry assignment, a financial goal).
    2. Define Your “Sling”: What specific skill, knowledge, or spiritual discipline do you need to develop to overcome that challenge?
    3. Create a Practice Routine: Dedicate time daily or weekly to intentionally practice and develop that skill or discipline. Start small and be consistent.
    4. Seek Your “Lion and Bear”: Look for smaller challenges now that can test and prove your growing skill and faith.
    5. Stay Ready: Live each day with expectancy, knowing that a divine opportunity could present itself at any moment. Your preparation will determine your outcome.

Remember: Your future victory is being determined by your present preparation. The battle is not won on the public battlefield but in the private fields of your daily discipline. God is faithful to bring the opportunity; your job is to be prepared to seize it. Do not curse the darkness of obscurity; use it as your training ground. For when your moment comes, your preparation will make your victory look like luck to those who didn’t see you training.

    MEMORISE:

But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only , deceiving your own selves.
    James 1:22

    READ: Deuteronomy 28:1-13:

1 And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the Lord thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:
2 And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God.
3 Blessed shalt thou be in the city, and blessed shalt thou be in the field.
4 Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy ground, and the fruit of thy cattle, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep.

5 Blessed shall be thy basket and thy store.
6 Blessed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and blessed shalt thou be when thou goest out.
7 The Lord shall cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thy face: they shall come out against thee one way, and flee before thee seven ways.
8 The Lord shall command the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses, and in all that thou settest thine hand unto; and he shall bless thee in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.
9 The Lord shall establish thee an holy people unto himself, as he hath sworn unto thee, if thou shalt keep the commandments of the Lord thy God, and walk in his ways.

10 And all people of the earth shall see that thou art called by the name of the Lord; and they shall be afraid of thee.
11 And the Lord shall make thee plenteous in goods, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, in the land which the Lord sware unto thy fathers to give thee.
12 The Lord shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow.
13 And the Lord shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the Lord thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them:

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 20 SEPTEMBER 2025 TODAY MESSAGE

Many years ago, I went to preach in Onitsha, a town in South-Eastern Nigeria. On my way back to Lagos, I needed to refuel my car, so l stopped at Asaba to buy some fuel.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t get any. I kept driving until I got to Benin, but I still couldn’t get any fuel to buy. I continued my journey until I got to Ore. By then, the car’s fuel tank was on reserve. I didn’t know what to do. It was a Sunday evening, and I had to give some lectures the next morning.

Then, God spoke to me, “Son, take your eyes off the gauge and keep driving.” I drove the car on reserve fuel from Ore until I parked in my house in Surulere (over 200km).

God can bring something out of nothing, but for you to enjoy His blessings, you must be obedient to Him. When He says go, you should go, and when He says stop, you must stop.

Proverbs 3:5 says that you should not lean on your own understanding.

In John 5:2-9, there was an account of a man who had been ill for thirty-eight years. Jesus saw him lying by a pool and asked him, “Do you wish to get well?” The sick man answered, “Sir, I have no man to put me in the pool when the water is troubled.” Jesus then said to him, “Rise, take up your bed and walk.” Immediately, the man became well and began to walk. His simple obedience to Jesus’ instruction to rise and take up his bed broke the bondage he was in for thirty-eight years.

No matter how long a problem has existed, once God sends His word and you obey Him, you will have total freedom.

More than four decades ago, I was to travel outside Nigeria for the first time and had never been inside an aeroplane before. I was a lecturer at the University of Lagos and was to give a presentation in Sierra Leone. I was a bit anxious because I had never travelled outside

the country, but then, somebody gave me instructions on how to clear myself at the airport. I listened, obeyed the instructions, and my journey was successful.

Beloved, when God gives you an instruction, don’t think you are wiser than Him. He knows the end from the beginning and the best pathway for your life. If you want to succeed in life, simply obey God’s instructions. Obedience always precedes the miraculous.

    KEY POINT

The key to becoming successful is simply obeying God’s instructions.

    BIBLE IN ONE YEAR

    Obadiah 1

HYMN 30: WHEN WE WALK WITH THE LORD

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 20 SEPTEMBER 2025 COMMENTARY

    MEMORISE: James 1:22 (KJV)
“But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.”
This verse draws a critical distinction between intellectual assent and active obedience. To hear the word without acting on it is to engage in self-deception, creating a false sense of spirituality that has no power to change circumstances. True faith is always validated by corresponding action.

    BIBLE READING: Deuteronomy 28:1-13 (KJV)
This passage details the extensive blessings that are conditional upon obedience. Verse 1 sets the foundation: “And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments… all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee.” The blessings described—from personal prosperity to national preeminence—are not random acts of kindness but the guaranteed outcome of a life aligned with God’s commands.

Obedience: The Gateway to the Supernatural

Daddy Adeboye uses two powerful personal testimonies to illustrate that obedience is the catalyst that releases God’s supernatural provision into natural impossibility. The car running on an empty tank defied the laws of physics because it was operating on a higher law: the law of obedience to God’s direct command. The instruction, “take your eyes off the gauge and keep driving,” was a test of faith that required ignoring physical evidence and trusting divine assurance. The miracle was activated by his choice to obey.

    The Anatomy of an Instruction

The devotional analyzes different types of divine instructions:

    1. Direct Rhema Word: As in the fuel miracle, a specific, personal command from God that transcends general wisdom.
    2. Scriptural Principle: The general commandments in God’s Word, like those in Deuteronomy 28, which carry promised blessings for obedience.
    3. Practical Wisdom: As with the airport instructions, God often uses wise counsel and practical steps to guide us. Obedience to these is still obedience to God.

    Breaking Long-Standing Bondages

The account of the invalid at the Pool of Bethesda (John 5:2-9) is a masterclass in how obedience breaks chains. The man had been bound for 38 years, trapped in a cycle of excuses and failed solutions (“I have no man…”). Jesus bypassed all that and gave a simple, illogical command: “Rise, take up your bed and walk.” For a man who couldn’t walk, being told to stand and carry his bed was impossible. Yet, his obedience—the act of willing his muscles to move in faith—became the point of contact for his healing. The lesson is profound: Obedience is the key that turns the lock of God’s power, no matter how long the door has been shut.

The Folly of Leaning on Understanding

The message consistently warns against the trap of human reasoning. Proverbs 3:5 is the governing principle. Obedience often requires acting in ways that seem foolish to human logic:

    • Driving a car with an empty fuel gauge.
    • A paralyzed man trying to stand.
    • Marching around a city to make its walls fall (Joshua 6).
    • Filling pots with water to become wine (John 2).
God’s instructions are designed to bypass our limited understanding and force us to rely entirely on His infinite wisdom and power.

    The Outcome: Blessings That Overtake

The result of obedience is not just a solved problem; it is a life flooded with blessing. Deuteronomy 28 says the blessings will “overtake” you. This implies that when you are in alignment with God’s commands, you position yourself in the path of His favor, which will find you and overwhelm you. Obedience precedes the miraculous because it creates the spiritual conditions for God’s power to flow unimpeded.

    Pray this:
“Heavenly Father, I repent for the times I have been a hearer of Your word and not a doer, deceiving myself. Forgive me for leaning on my own understanding and allowing logic to override obedience. Today, I surrender my will. Give me a heart that is quick to obey Your voice, whether through Your Word, Your Spirit, or godly counsel. I break the power of delay and excuse over my life. I choose to obey, even when it doesn’t make sense, trusting that Your commands are always for my blessing and Your glory. Let my obedience unlock the miraculous in my life today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

    Action Steps:

    1. Identify an Unobeyed Prompt: Is there a specific instruction from God (e.g., to forgive someone, to start a ministry, to give an offering, to apologize) that you have been delaying?
    2. Act on It Today: Do not delay. Your miracle is waiting on the other side of that obedience.
    3. Study Obedience: Read and meditate on Deuteronomy 28 this week. Write down the blessings attached to obedience and pray them over your life.
    4. Practice Immediate Obedience: Train your spirit to respond immediately to the gentle nudges of the Holy Spirit throughout your day.
    5. Testify: When you obey and see God’s miraculous provision, share your testimony. It will encourage others and strengthen your own faith.

Remember: Your obedience is the conduit through which God’s power flows into your situation. You do not need to understand the command to obey it; you only need to trust the Commander. The size of your miracle will always correspond to the level of your obedience. Do not just listen to God’s word; do what it says. For it is in the act of doing that the supernatural becomes your natural reality.
