    TOPIC:SEEING EYES III

    MEMORISE:

The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints.
    Ephesians 1:18

    READ: 2 Kings 6:8-23

8 Then the king of Syria warred against Israel, and took counsel with his servants, saying, In such and such a place shall be my camp.
9 And the man of God sent unto the king of Israel, saying, Beware that thou pass not such a place; for thither the Syrians are come down.
10 And the king of Israel sent to the place which the man of God told him and warned him of, and saved himself there, not once nor twice.

11 Therefore the heart of the king of Syria was sore troubled for this thing; and he called his servants, and said unto them, Will ye not shew me which of us is for the king of Israel?
12 And one of his servants said, None, my lord, O king: but Elisha, the prophet that is in Israel, telleth the king of Israel the words that thou speakest in thy bedchamber.
13 And he said, Go and spy where he is, that I may send and fetch him. And it was told him, saying, Behold, he is in Dothan.
14 Therefore sent he thither horses, and chariots, and a great host: and they came by night, and compassed the city about.
15 And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master! how shall we do?

16 And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them.
17 And Elisha prayed, and said, Lord, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the Lord opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.
18 And when they came down to him, Elisha prayed unto the Lord, and said, Smite this people, I pray thee, with blindness. And he smote them with blindness according to the word of Elisha.
19 And Elisha said unto them, This is not the way, neither is this the city: follow me, and I will bring you to the man whom ye seek. But he led them to Samaria.

20 And it came to pass, when they were come into Samaria, that Elisha said, Lord, open the eyes of these men, that they may see. And the Lord opened their eyes, and they saw; and, behold, they were in the midst of Samaria.
21 And the king of Israel said unto Elisha, when he saw them, My father, shall I smite them? shall I smite them?
22 And he answered, Thou shalt not smite them: wouldest thou smite those whom thou hast taken captive with thy sword and with thy bow? set bread and water before them, that they may eat and drink, and go to their master.
23 And he prepared great provision for them: and when they had eaten and drunk, he sent them away, and they went to their master. So the bands of Syria came no more into the land of Israel.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 28 JUNE 2026 TODAY MESSAGE

In today’s Bible reading, Elisha was in Israel, but he could hear what the king of Syria was planning far away in his bedchamber.

As a result, all the king’s battle plans against Israel failed. The Syrian king was seriously disturbed by that, so he sent an army to capture the prophet. It didn’t occur to him that the fellow who could hear the things he was planning in his bedroom must have some serious spiritual backing.

When Elisha’s servant saw the army that was sent to arrest his master, he became agitated and ran to Elisha, shaking with fear. He could only see the troop of Syrian soldiers that surrounded his master’s house, but he couldn’t see the horses and chariots of fire of the angelic hosts that surrounded them.

To put his servant’s mind at rest, however, Elisha prayed, “Lord, open his eyes that he may see” (2 Kings 6:17). I am sure that immediately the servant’s eyes were opened and he saw the mighty host surrounding them, his fear disappeared.

Beloved, what you see will always affect how you respond to situations. If all you can see is what is happening in the natural realm, you will feel threatened by challenges, just like Elisha’s servant.

You will continually live in fear until your eyes are open to see that God has prepared a table before you in the presence of your enemies (Psalm 23:5).

You don’t have to be afraid of the devil because He that is in you is greater than he that is in the world (1 John 4:4). Don’t tremble in the presence of the one who should be trembling when he sees you.

1 Peter 5:8 says that he is moving around as a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Lions typically prefer to target weak prey; therefore, if you see yourself as being weak and vulnerable, the devil may be encouraged to attack you. However, if you understand the power of the One who lives inside you, he will stay away from you.

Child of God, do you see yourself as being too strong for any problem to overcome, or do you panic when faced with challenges? I pray that your eyes will be opened from now on, so you can see the power that backs you up as a child of God and cease to be afraid of challenges that come your way.

    KEY POINT:

When you have seeing eyes, you will not be afraid of any challenge that comes your way.

Open Heavens HYMN 58: MY HOPE IS BUILT ON NOTHING ELSE

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 28 JUNE 2026 COMMENTARY

    MEMORISE: Ephesians 1:18

“The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints.”

This verse is a prayer for spiritual illumination. Daddy Adeboye anchors today’s devotional on this text because it reveals that the greatest need of the believer is not more resources, more protection, or more power—but enlightened eyes. The phrase “eyes of your understanding” (or “eyes of your heart”) refers to the inner capacity to perceive spiritual reality. When these eyes are darkened, you live in fear, confusion, and defeat—even when angelic armies surround you. When they are enlightened, you see the hope of your calling, the riches of God’s inheritance, and the reality that the host of heaven is already on your side.

    BIBLE READING: 2 Kings 6:8-23

This passage records one of the most dramatic revelations of the unseen realm in Scripture. The king of Syria was at war with Israel. Every time he planned an ambush or a battle strategy, the prophet Elisha supernaturally heard the plans and warned the king of Israel. The Syrian king, furious, sent a great army with horses and chariots to capture Elisha in the city of Dothan. They surrounded the city by night. When Elisha’s servant rose early and saw the Syrian army surrounding them, he cried out in fear, “Alas, my master! how shall we do?” Elisha prayed, “Lord, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see.” The Lord opened the servant’s eyes, and he saw the mountain full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha. Daddy Adeboye uses this to show that fear comes from seeing only the natural; faith comes from seeing the spiritual reality that has been there all along.

Elisha’s Servant: Natural Eyes vs. Opened Eyes

    1. The Natural Perspective: Fear and Panic

“When Elisha’s servant saw the army that was sent to arrest his master, he became agitated and ran to Elisha, shaking with fear. He could only see the troop of Syrian soldiers that surrounded his master’s house, but he couldn’t see the horses and chariots of fire of the angelic hosts that surrounded them.”

Consider what the servant saw with his natural eyes:

What the Servant SawHis Emotional Response
A great Syrian army (horses, chariots, soldiers)Agitation, shaking, fear
Enemies surrounding the cityPanic: “How shall we do?”
    Overwhelming forceComplete hopelessness

The servant’s assessment was accurate—as far as it went. There was indeed a Syrian army. They were indeed surrounded. The situation was indeed desperate. But his assessment was incomplete. He saw only half the reality.

“To put his servant’s mind at rest, however, Elisha prayed, ‘Lord, open his eyes that he may see’ (2 Kings 6:17).”

    2. The Opened Perspective: Peace and Power

“I am sure that immediately the servant’s eyes were opened and he saw the mighty host surrounding them, his fear disappeared.”

What the Servant Saw After PrayerHis Emotional Response
Horses and chariots of fire (angelic hosts)Fear disappeared
The mountain full of God’s armyPeace replaced panic
More on their side than on the enemy’s sideConfidence replaced despair

The situation had not changed. The Syrian army was still there. The city was still surrounded. But the servant’s perception had changed. And with changed perception came changed emotion.

“Beloved, what you see will always affect how you respond to situations. If all you can see is what is happening in the natural realm, you will feel threatened by challenges, just like Elisha’s servant.”

    What You SeeHow You Respond
    Only the problemFear, anxiety, panic
Only the enemyOverwhelmed, defeated before the battle
    Only your lackDespair, hopelessness
    The spiritual realityPeace, confidence, boldness

The Table Prepared in the Presence of Enemies

“You will continually live in fear until your eyes are open to see that God has prepared a table before you in the presence of your enemies (Psalm 23:5).”

Psalm 23:5 – “Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies…”

This verse is a picture of total security. A table in the ancient Near East symbolized peace, abundance, and fellowship. To eat a meal while your enemies watch means:

    • They cannot touch you
    • You are completely safe
    • God’s provision is uninterrupted by their hostility
    Without Seeing EyesWith Seeing Eyes
You see only the enemies surrounding youYou see the table God has prepared
You fear they will attackYou eat in peace while they watch
You feel vulnerableYou know you are protected

“You don’t have to be afraid of the devil because He that is in you is greater than he that is in the world (1 John 4:4).”

1 John 4:4 – “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.”

    The Enemy’s PowerYour Power
He is in the world (limited, created, defeated)He that is in you (God Almighty, Creator, Victor)
He roars like a lion (bluff, intimidation)The Lion of the tribe of Judah lives in you
He seeks whom he may devour (only the weak, the unaware)You are not weak if you know who lives in you

The Devil’s Strategy: He Targets the Weak

“1 Peter 5:8 says that he is moving around as a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Lions typically prefer to target weak prey; therefore, if you see yourself as being weak and vulnerable, the devil may be encouraged to attack you.”

    Consider the lion’s hunting strategy:

    Weak PreyStrong Prey
Isolated, separated from the herdPart of a strong community
    Unaware, asleep, carelessAlert, watchful, prayerful
Fearful, panicked, already defeated in mindConfident, bold, knowing their strength
    Injured, sick, vulnerableHealthy, strong, protected

“However, if you understand the power of the One who lives inside you, he will stay away from you.”

If You See Yourself As…The Devil’s Response
Weak and vulnerableHe is encouraged to attack
Strong because the Greater One lives in youHe stays away

The devil is not omnipotent. He is a created being, already defeated by the cross. His primary weapon is deception—making you believe you are weaker than you are. When your eyes are opened to see the power that backs you up, his intimidation loses its power.

How to Receive Opened Eyes (Practical Steps)

Based on Daddy Adeboye’s teaching and Elisha’s prayer, here is how to pray for and cultivate opened spiritual eyes:

    1. Pray for Enlightened Understanding (Ephesians 1:18)

Do not assume you already see everything. Paul prayed for the Ephesian believers to have “the eyes of your understanding enlightened.” This is a prayer you must pray for yourself regularly.

“Lord, open the eyes of my understanding. Let me see what I have been missing.”

    2. Ask God to Show You the Invisible Reality

Like Elisha, pray specifically: “Lord, open my eyes that I may see.” Not just for a miracle, not just for provision—but for sight. Ask to see the horses and chariots of fire that are already surrounding you.

    3. Refuse to Make Decisions Based on Natural Sight Alone

The servant saw the Syrian army and panicked. His natural eyes told him the truth—but not the whole truth. Train yourself to ask: “Lord, what am I not seeing? What is the spiritual reality behind this natural circumstance?”

    4. Remind Yourself Daily of the Greater One Inside You

    Instead of Saying…Say…
“I am so weak”“Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world”
“This problem is too big”“My God is bigger than any problem”
“I am surrounded by enemies”“The angelic host surrounds me”
“I am afraid”“I will not fear, for God is with me”

    5. Change Your Self-Perception

“Child of God, do you see yourself as being too strong for any problem to overcome, or do you panic when faced with challenges?”

    Weak Self-PerceptionStrong Self-Perception
“I can’t handle this”“I can do all things through Christ”
“I’m going to fail”“God always leads me in triumph”
“The enemy is too powerful”“The enemy is already defeated”
“I am vulnerable”“I am protected by the Most High”

Your self-perception is not just positive thinking—it is spiritual warfare. When you see yourself as God sees you (seated in heavenly places, more than a conqueror, joint heir with Christ), the devil loses his grip of fear.

    What Opened Eyes Reveal

Based on Scripture and Daddy Adeboye’s teaching, here is what you can expect to see when your spiritual eyes are opened:

    What You Will SeeScriptural Basis
The angelic host surrounding you2 Kings 6:17 – horses and chariots of fire
The Greater One living inside you1 John 4:4 – greater is He that is in you
Your table prepared in enemy territoryPsalm 23:5 – a table in the presence of enemies
Your heavenly inheritanceEphesians 1:18 – riches of the glory of His inheritance
The hope of your callingEphesians 1:18 – what is the hope of His calling
The unseen eternal reality2 Corinthians 4:18 – look not at seen things, but unseen

Warning: Fear Is a Choice Based on Incomplete Sight

Daddy Adeboye’s devotional carries an urgent warning: you are not a victim of your circumstances—you are a victim of your perception. The servant was afraid because he saw only the Syrians. When he saw the angelic host, his fear vanished. The circumstances had not changed. The Syrians were still there. But his sight had changed.

If You Choose to See Only…You Will Live In…
    The problemFear, panic, anxiety
    The enemyDefeat, hopelessness, despair
    Your weaknessVulnerability, insecurity
    The natural realmConstant agitation
If You Choose to See the Spiritual RealityYou Will Live In…
    The angelic hostPeace, confidence
The Greater One inside youBoldness, victory
    God’s protectionSecurity, rest
    The unseen realmUnshakable faith

Conclusion: Your Prayer for Opened Eyes

Daddy Adeboye closes with a prayer that your eyes will be opened to see the power that backs you up as a child of God. Do not live in fear another day. The horses and chariots of fire are already surrounding you. Ask God to open your eyes.

    Pray this:

“Lord Jesus, I thank You that You have not left me defenseless. Forgive me for the times I have lived in fear because I saw only the natural realm. Forgive me for panicking when I should have prayed, for trembling when I should have trusted. Today, I ask You: open my eyes. Let me see the horses and chariots of fire that surround me. Let me see the angelic host that is more powerful than any enemy. Let me see the table You have prepared for me in the presence of my enemies. Let me see the Greater One who lives inside me. I refuse to be weak prey for the devil. I am strong because You are in me. I will not fear. My eyes are opened. In Jesus’ mighty name.”

    Action Steps:

    1. The Elisha Prayer: Every morning this week, pray specifically: “Lord, open my eyes that I may see.” Before you check the news, check your problems, or check your circumstances, ask God to show you the spiritual reality.
    2. The Fear Audit: Identify one area where you have been living in fear (finances, health, family, future). Ask: What am I seeing with my natural eyes that is causing this fear? What would I see if God opened my eyes?
    3. The Greater One Declaration: Write 1 John 4:4 on an index card. Place it where you will see it daily. Every time fear rises, declare aloud: “Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world. I am not weak. I am not vulnerable. The Almighty God lives in me.”

“The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints.” (Ephesians 1:18)
Do not live in fear based on half the picture. The Syrian army is real—but so are the chariots of fire. The problem is real—but so is the Greater One inside you. Ask God to open your eyes. When He does, fear will disappear. Peace will reign. And you will see that you have always been surrounded, protected, and backed up by the hosts of heaven.

    MEMORISE:

And in that day shall the deat hear the words of the book, and the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity, and out of darkness.

    READ: Genesis 21:14-19

14 And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and took bread, and a bottle of water, and gave it unto Hagar, putting it on her shoulder, and the child, and sent her away: and she departed, and wandered in the wilderness of Beersheba.
15 And the water was spent in the bottle, and she cast the child under one of the shrubs.
16 And she went, and sat her down over against him a good way off, as it were a bow shot: for she said, Let me not see the death of the child. And she sat over against him, and lift up her voice, and wept.

17 And God heard the voice of the lad; and the angel of God called to Hagar out of heaven, and said unto her, What aileth thee, Hagar? fear not; for God hath heard the voice of the lad where he is.
18 Arise, lift up the lad, and hold him in thine hand; for I will make him a great nation.
19 And God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water; and she went, and filled the bottle with water, and gave the lad drink.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 27 JUNE 2026 TODAY MESSAGE

Yesterday, I mentioned that eyes that see are not just physical eyes. When the Lord gives you eyes that see, you will begin to experience relief in any situation where you might have previously experienced hardship.

In today’s Bible reading, as Hagar and her son, Ishmael, journeyed in the wilderness, they ran out of water to drink. The wilderness is not a place to wander in without water; hence, it did not take long before Ishmael got dehydrated and weak. He became so weak that his mother thought he would die. Knowing that there was nothing she could do to keep her son alive, she distanced herself from him and began to weep.

At that moment, God intervened and opened her eyes to see that the solution to her problem was right beside her. There was a well of water close to her, but she didn’t see it until God opened her eyes. How sad would it have been if she had died of thirst without knowing that the solution she was seeking was so close to her. If you are currently experiencing any challenges, I pray that the Almighty God will open your eyes to see the right solutions to them, in Jesus’ name.

When people don’t have seeing eyes, they will walk in darkness. They may have blessings all around them, but they may still suffer because they cannot see them. Those who do not have seeing eyes are at the mercy of others. They stumble at things that shouldn’t ordinarily trip them up because they cannot see. Darkness brings confusion and emptiness, and this is why the earth was void and without form until God commanded light to be (Genesis 1:2).

Beloved, God wants to give you eyes that see so that you can see His numerous blessings and enjoy His never-ending goodness. What He wanted Hagar to see was a well of water; however, for you, He might want you to see another source of income, a better way of doing all that He wants you to do, or better ways of relating with people.

He does not want you to live in darkness; rather, He wants you to be full of light. He wants to show you the treasures of darkness and hidden riches in secret places. I pray that the Lord will open your eyes to see all the good things He has prepared for you, in Jesus’ name.

    PRAYER POINT:

Lord, please give me seeing eyes so I can walk in Your light and not stumble in darkness.

Open Heavens HYMN 8: I Need Thee Every Hour

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 27 JUNE 2026 COMMENTARY

    MEMORISE: Isaiah 29:18

“And in that day shall the deaf hear the words of the book, and the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity, and out of darkness.”

This verse is a prophetic promise of divine sight. Daddy Adeboye anchors today’s devotional on this text because it reveals that God specializes in opening eyes that have been closed—whether physically or spiritually. The phrase “out of obscurity and out of darkness” describes the natural state of the unseeing eye. But God says: I will bring sight out of blindness, clarity out of confusion, and revelation out of obscurity. What you cannot see today, God can reveal in an instant. What has been hidden from you, God can uncover with a single word.

    BIBLE READING: Genesis 21:14-19

This passage records the story of Hagar and Ishmael after Abraham sent them away. Abraham gave Hagar bread and a bottle of water, and she departed into the wilderness of Beersheba. When the water was spent, she cast the child under a shrub and went away from him, saying, “Let me not see the death of the child.” She sat down and wept. Then God heard the voice of the lad, and an angel called to Hagar from heaven, saying, “Fear not; for God hath heard the voice of the lad… Arise, lift up the lad, and hold him in thine hand; for I will make him a great nation.” Then “God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water” —a well that had been there all along. She went and filled the bottle with water and gave the lad a drink. Daddy Adeboye uses this to show that the solution was present but invisible until God opened Hagar’s eyes.

Hagar’s Wilderness: A Well She Could Not See

    1. The Desperate Situation

“In today’s Bible reading, as Hagar and her son, Ishmael, journeyed in the wilderness, they ran out of water to drink. The wilderness is not a place to wander in without water; hence, it did not take long before Ishmael got dehydrated and weak.”

Consider the progression of their crisis:

    StageCondition
    Water spentThe bottle was empty
    Ishmael weakDehydrated, near death
Hagar despairsShe places the child under a shrub, distances herself
She weepsShe believes death is inevitable

“He became so weak that his mother thought he would die. Knowing that there was nothing she could do to keep her son alive, she distanced herself from him and began to weep.”

Hagar did what any mother would do in hopelessness. She had no water. She had no strength. She had no plan. All she could do was weep and wait for death.

    2. The Hidden Solution

“At that moment, God intervened and opened her eyes to see that the solution to her problem was right beside her. There was a well of water close to her, but she didn’t see it until God opened her eyes.”

This is the central revelation of the passage:

What Hagar KnewWhat Hagar Did Not Know
She had a bottle (empty)A well was nearby
She had a dying childWater was within reach
She had no optionsThe solution was already present

“How sad would it have been if she had died of thirst without knowing that the solution she was seeking was so close to her.”

The tragedy is not that the well was absent. The tragedy is that the well was present but invisible. Hagar was weeping next to water. Her child was dying next to life. The solution was not miles away—it was right beside her. But she could not see it until God opened her eyes.

“If you are currently experiencing any challenges, I pray that the Almighty God will open your eyes to see the right solutions to them, in Jesus’ name.”

    The Condition of Unseeing Eyes

    1. Walking in Darkness Amidst Light

“When people don’t have seeing eyes, they will walk in darkness. They may have blessings all around them, but they may still suffer because they cannot see them.”

    Unseeing Eyes ExperienceReality
Feel surrounded by darknessLight is present but unrecognized
Feel empty and voidBlessings are all around but invisible
Feel abandoned by GodGod is near but unseen
Feel hopelessThe solution is beside them

“Those who do not have seeing eyes are at the mercy of others. They stumble at things that shouldn’t ordinarily trip them up because they cannot see.”

Consider the dangers of spiritual blindness:

    AreaWithout Seeing EyesWith Seeing Eyes
FinancesYou miss income opportunities right in front of youYou see the “well” of provision
RelationshipsYou stay in toxic relationships because you cannot see the escapeYou see the exit and take it
MinistryYou wait for a “bigger platform” while ignoring the person in front of youYou see the divine appointment in every conversation
ProblemsYou only see the crisisYou see the solution embedded in the crisis

    2. Darkness Brings Confusion and Emptiness (Genesis 1:2)

“Darkness brings confusion and emptiness, and this is why the earth was void and without form until God commanded light to be (Genesis 1:2).”

Genesis 1:2 – “And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep.”

    Before LightAfter Light
Void (empty, useless)Full of potential, teeming with life
Without form (chaotic, disordered)Ordered, purposeful, beautiful
    Darkness (hidden, invisible)Light (revealed, clear)

When God said, “Let there be light,” He did not create something new. He revealed what was already there. The earth existed. The waters existed. The deep existed. But without light, they were formless, void, and dark. Light did not create the potential—it revealed the potential.

The same is true for you. Your potential exists. Your solution is present. Your well is nearby. But without God’s light—without “seeing eyes”—you will walk in darkness, confusion, and emptiness, even while surrounded by abundance.

What God Wants You to See

    1. For Hagar: A Well of Water

“What He wanted Hagar to see was a well of water…”

Hagar needed physical water to save her son’s life. The well was there. She just needed her eyes opened to see it.

    2. For You: Customized Sight

“…for you, He might want you to see another source of income, a better way of doing all that He wants you to do, or better ways of relating with people.”

Possible “Wells” God Wants You to SeeDescription
Another source of incomeA side business, a skill you can monetize, an investment opportunity
A better way of doing thingsA process improvement, a time management strategy, a new approach
Better ways of relatingForgiveness where you held offense, connection where you isolated
A person you overlookedA divine connection sitting in your church, workplace, or neighborhood
A resource you already ownA tool, a book, a talent, a relationship you have neglected

“He does not want you to live in darkness; rather, He wants you to be full of light.”

Matthew 5:16 – “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”

God’s will is not for you to stumble in darkness. His will is for you to be so full of light that you see clearly, walk steadily, and illuminate the path for others.

    3. Treasures of Darkness and Hidden Riches

“He wants to show you the treasures of darkness and hidden riches in secret places.”

Isaiah 45:3 – “And I will give thee the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places, that thou mayest know that I, the LORD, which call thee by thy name, am the God of Israel.”

    What This MeansExamples
Treasures in dark timesLessons, character, resilience, faith forged in trials
Hidden riches in difficult seasonsConnections, insights, opportunities that only appear in adversity
Wealth in secret placesWhat the world overlooks, God reveals to those with seeing eyes

Your darkest season may contain your greatest treasure—if you have eyes to see it. Your greatest crisis may be hiding your greatest breakthrough—if God opens your eyes.

How to Receive Seeing Eyes (Practical Steps)

Based on Daddy Adeboye’s teaching and the example of Hagar, here is how to position yourself for divine sight:

    1. Acknowledge That You Cannot See on Your Own

Hagar did not find the well by searching harder. She did not stumble upon it by walking further. She wept in despair until God opened her eyes. Humility is the posture for receiving sight. Admit: “Lord, I am blind to my own solutions. I need You to open my eyes.”

    2. Cry Out to the God Who Opens Eyes

Hagar did not pray (the text does not record her praying). But God heard the voice of the lad and intervened. Do not remain silent. Cry out: “Lord, open my eyes! Show me what I am missing!”

    3. Stop Walking and Start Looking

Hagar stopped walking, sat down, and wept. Sometimes you need to stop striving, stop searching, stop exhausting yourself, and simply ask God to show you what is already there.

    Instead of…Do This…
Running frantically for solutionsBe still and ask God to open your eyes
Looking farther awayLook at what is already around you
Despairing over what you don’t haveAsk to see what you do have

    4. Expect the Well to Be Near, Not Far

Hagar’s well was not miles away. It was right beside her. Do not assume that your solution requires a move, a new job, a new relationship, or a new country. Your well may be in your house, your neighborhood, your current church, or your existing skill set.

    5. Obey Once You See

When God opened Hagar’s eyes, she did not sit and admire the well. She went and filled the bottle and gave the lad a drink. Seeing eyes without obedient feet are useless. When God shows you the solution, act on it immediately.

Warning: Do Not Die Next to Your Well

Daddy Adeboye’s devotional carries an urgent warning: it is possible to be so close to your solution that you can almost touch it—and still die because your eyes are closed.

    The TragedyThe Prevention
Hagar almost died of thirst next to a wellGod opened her eyes in time
The widow almost lost her sons while sitting on a pot of oilElisha opened her eyes to her resource
Isaac could have starved in famine while possessing sowing potentialGod showed him the opportunity

“I pray that the Lord will open your eyes to see all the good things He has prepared for you, in Jesus’ name.”

Do not be the one who dies of thirst with water within reach. Do not be the one who remains in debt with oil in the house. Do not be the one who misses breakthrough because your eyes are closed. Ask God for seeing eyes. Today.

Conclusion: Your Prayer for Seeing Eyes

Daddy Adeboye closes with a prayer for sight—for wells to be revealed, for darkness to be turned to light, for hidden riches to be uncovered. Pray this prayer with desperation and faith.

    Pray this:

“Lord Jesus, I come to You as Hagar came to the wilderness—thirsty, desperate, and unable to see my solution. Forgive me for the days I have walked in darkness when You have placed light all around me. Forgive me for weeping next to wells, for dying of thirst while water was within reach. Today, I ask You: open my eyes. Show me the well in my wilderness. Show me the oil in my house. Show me the opportunity in my famine. Show me the treasure in my darkness. I do not want to stumble when I could walk. I do not want to perish when I could thrive. Give me seeing eyes—eyes that see what You see, eyes that recognize Your provision, eyes that turn obscurity into clarity and darkness into light. In Jesus’ mighty name.”

    Action Steps:

    1. The “Well” Inventory: Today, stop and look around your life—your home, your skills, your relationships, your current circumstances. Ask God: “What well is here that I have been unable to see?” Write down what He shows you.
    2. The Despair Check: Is there any area where you have given up—where you have “placed the child under a shrub” and walked away weeping? Return to that area today. Ask God to open your eyes there.
    3. The Sight Prayer: For the next seven days, begin each morning with this specific prayer: “Lord, open my eyes today. Show me what I have been missing. Let me see the well beside me.” At the end of each day, write down what you saw that you had not seen before.

“And in that day shall the deaf hear the words of the book, and the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity, and out of darkness.” (Isaiah 29:18)
Your well is nearer than you think. Your solution is closer than you imagine. Do not die of thirst next to water. Do not perish in debt next to oil. Ask God for seeing eyes. He who formed the eye can open it. And when He does, you will see—and live.

    TOPIC: SEEING EYES I

    MEMORISE:

The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, the LORD hath made even both of them.
    Proverbs 20:12

    READ: 2 Kings 4:1-7

1 Now there cried a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets unto Elisha, saying, Thy servant my husband is dead; and thou knowest that thy servant did fear the Lord: and the creditor is come to take unto him my two sons to be bondmen.
2 And Elisha said unto her, What shall I do for thee? tell me, what hast thou in the house? And she said, Thine handmaid hath not any thing in the house, save a pot of oil.
3 Then he said, Go, borrow thee vessels abroad of all thy neighbours, even empty vessels; borrow not a few.

4 And when thou art come in, thou shalt shut the door upon thee and upon thy sons, and shalt pour out into all those vessels, and thou shalt set aside that which is full.
5 So she went from him, and shut the door upon her and upon her sons, who brought the vessels to her; and she poured out.
6 And it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said unto her son, Bring me yet a vessel. And he said unto her, There is not a vessel more. And the oil stayed.7 Then she came and told the man of God. And he said, Go, sell the oil, and pay thy debt, and live thou and thy children of the rest.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 26 JUNE 2026 TODAY MESSAGE

Today’s Bible reading tells us about a widow who was about to lose her sons to slavery because her late husband left behind a huge debt. She was in a desperate situation, and in her desperation, she ran to Prophet Elisha and shared her plight with him.

After telling the prophet about her troubles, he asked her what she had in her house, and she replied, “Nothing, except a pot of oil.” She thought that what she had was little, but she didn’t realise that it was all she needed to become financially free.

Sometimes, you don’t need more than what you already have in order to receive what God has in store for you. All that the widow in today’s Bible reading needed to have a financial breakthrough had been in her house all along, but she didn’t know it. It took Elisha’s instructions on what to do with what she had to help her experience the potential of the little’ that was in her possession. If God had opened her eyes to see what He could do with the little she had, she would have never been in distress. I pray that the Almighty God will open your eyes to see the solutions He has put around you, in Jesus’ name.

In today’s memory verse, the Bible says that the ears that hear and the eyes that see were made by the Lord. This means that a person can be surrounded by prosperity; however, if God doesn’t enable that person to see the opportunities He has placed around him or her, such a person can die in poverty.

Having eyes that see is more than just having physical eyes. When you have eyes that see, you will see opportunities where others see challenges and abundance where others see scarcity. When God opened Isaac’s eyes to see opportunities in the midst of famine, he became so wealthy that the Philistines began to envy him because he had become wealthier than them (Genesis 26:12-16).

Beloved, in order to thrive, you need to have eyes that see. You need to see beyond the ordinary to achieve extraordinary results. Over the next few days, I will share the importance of having seeing eyes and why you should ask the Lord for them. I pray that my Daddy will give you seeing eyes so you will see opportunities where others see obstacles and experience breakthroughs where others experience oppositions, in Jesus’ name.

    PRAYER POINT:

Lord, please give me seeing eyes so l can make the best of the opportunities You have put around me.

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 26 JUNE 2026 COMMENTARY

    MEMORISE: Proverbs 20:12

“The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, the LORD hath made even both of them.”

Your physical senses are not accidents of evolution—they are creations of God. The same God who formed the physical eye and ear can open them to see and hear what is invisible to the natural person. Having physical eyes is one thing; having “seeing eyes” that perceive divine opportunities, hidden solutions, and kingdom possibilities is another. Both come from the Lord, and both can be requested from Him.

    BIBLE READING: 2 Kings 4:1-7

This is the story of the widow of a son of the prophets. Her husband died, leaving behind massive debt. The creditor was coming to take her two sons as slaves. She had nothing in her house but a small pot of oil. Elisha instructed her to borrow empty vessels from her neighbours—many vessels, not just a few. Then she was to shut the door and pour her oil into all the vessels. She poured, and the oil flowed until every vessel was full. She sold the oil, paid the debt, and lived on the remainder. Daddy Adeboye highlights a crucial detail: the solution to her desperate situation was already in her house. She had the oil all along. What she lacked was not resources but revelation—eyes to see the potential in what she already possessed.

    The Tragedy of Unseen Solutions

    1. The Widow’s Desperation

“Today’s Bible reading tells us about a widow who was about to lose her sons to slavery because her late husband left behind a huge debt. She was in a desperate situation, and in her desperation, she ran to Prophet Elisha and shared her plight with him.”

    Consider her condition:

    The Widow’s ProblemThe Stakes
Massive debt she could not payCreditor was coming
No income, no resourcesHer two sons would be taken as slaves
Husband (the provider) was deadShe was alone, vulnerable, helpless

Humanly speaking, she had no options. She did not come to Elisha with a plan or a resource. She came with a problem.

    2. The Hidden Solution

“After telling the prophet about her troubles, he asked her what she had in her house, and she replied, ‘Nothing, except a pot of oil.’ She thought that what she had was little, but she didn’t realise that it was all she needed to become financially free.”

What the Widow SaidWhat Was Actually True
    “Nothing”“A pot of oil”
“I have no resources”“I have the seed of my miracle”
“I am hopeless”“Your solution is already in your house”

“Sometimes, you don’t need more than what you already have in order to receive what God has in store for you.”

This is a revolutionary statement. The widow thought she needed a loan, a benefactor, a miracle from outside. But God’s miracle was already inside her house. She had the oil. She had been living with her miracle and did not know it.

“All that the widow in today’s Bible reading needed to have a financial breakthrough had been in her house all along, but she didn’t know it.”

What She HadWhat She NeededThe Gap
A pot of oilA financial breakthroughNot more oil, but eyes to see the potential of the oil

“It took Elisha’s instructions on what to do with what she had to help her experience the potential of the ‘little’ that was in her possession.”

Elisha did not give her new resources. He gave her a revelation. He opened her eyes to see that the “little” she had was enough—if used according to divine instruction.

Having Eyes That See (Beyond Physical Sight)

    1. Physical Eyes vs. Seeing Eyes

“In today’s memory verse, the Bible says that the ears that hear and the eyes that see were made by the Lord. This means that a person can be surrounded by prosperity; however, if God doesn’t enable that person to see the opportunities He has placed around him or her, such a person can die in poverty.”

    Physical EyesSeeing Eyes (Spiritual Perception)
See the surface of thingsSee the potential beneath the surface
See lackSee the seed of abundance
    See obstaclesSee opportunities
See the problemSee the solution hidden within the problem
See scarcitySee abundance where others see famine

“Having eyes that see is more than just having physical eyes. When you have eyes that see, you will see opportunities where others see challenges and abundance where others see scarcity.”

The widow had physical eyes. She could see the pot of oil. But she did not have “seeing eyes” that recognised the oil as her answer. She saw a little oil. Elisha saw unlimited wealth waiting to be released.

    2. Isaac: Seeing Opportunities in Famine

“When God opened Isaac’s eyes to see opportunities in the midst of famine, he became so wealthy that the Philistines began to envy him because he had become wealthier than them (Genesis 26:12-16).”

    Consider Isaac’s situation:

    The CircumstanceThe Natural Response
Famine in the landEveryone focused on scarcity
    Philistines strugglingSurvival mode
    Limited resourcesFear, hoarding, competition

But Isaac did not see famine. He saw farmland. He sowed in a time of famine (Genesis 26:12). And the Bible says: “Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the LORD blessed him.”

    What Isaac SawWhat Others Saw
Opportunity to sowNo point in sowing during famine
God’s blessing despite circumstancesOnly the circumstances
    IncreaseLack
    Hundredfold harvestEmpty storehouses

“When God opened Isaac’s eyes to see opportunities in the midst of famine, he became so wealthy that the Philistines began to envy him because he had become wealthier than them.”

Isaac did not need new land, new rain, or new economic conditions. He needed his eyes opened to see what was already possible—even in famine.

    The Prayer for Seeing Eyes

Daddy Adeboye announces a series on this theme:

“Over the next few days, I will share the importance of having seeing eyes and why you should ask the Lord for them.”

This is a prayer you can pray right now:

“I pray that the Almighty God will open your eyes to see the solutions He has put around you, in Jesus’ name.”

What to Pray ForWhy It Matters
“Lord, open my eyes”Because solutions may already be in your house
“Lord, help me see what I have missed”Because the enemy blinds us to our own resources
“Lord, give me seeing eyes”Because seeing eyes turn lack into abundance

How to Develop Seeing Eyes (Practical Steps)

Based on Daddy Adeboye’s teaching, here is how to begin asking God for seeing eyes and positioning yourself to see what He wants you to see:

    1. Ask the Lord Specifically for Seeing Eyes

Do not assume you already see everything. The widow did not see the potential in her oil. Isaac needed God to open his eyes. Ask daily: “Lord, give me eyes to see what You are showing me.”

    2. Stop Focusing on What You Don’t Have

The widow said, “I have nothing except a pot of oil.” She was focused on the nothing. Elisha redirected her focus to the something. Take inventory of what you do have:

    CategoryWhat Do You Already Have?
    SkillsWhat can you do?
    RelationshipsWho do you know?
    ResourcesWhat do you own?
ExperiencesWhat have you been through that could help others?
Spiritual giftsWhat has God gifted you to do?

    3. Bring Your “Little” to God

Do not despise your pot of oil. Bring it to God and say, “Lord, here is what I have. It seems small. But I am asking You to multiply it, stretch it, and use it for Your glory.”

    4. Obey the Instructions Even When They Don’t Make Sense

    Elisha’s instructions were unusual:

    • Borrow empty vessels from neighbours (not just a few)
    • Shut the door (privacy, focus)
    • Pour the oil (use what you have)

The widow did not argue. She obeyed. And the oil flowed. Your “seeing eyes” will be useless without obedient feet. God shows you the solution, and then He tells you what to do with it. Do it.

    5. Expect to See Opportunities Where Others See Obstacles

When God gives you seeing eyes, you will begin to notice:

    • Problems that are actually invitations for your solution
    • People who are actually divine connections
    • Delays that are actually protections
    • Losses that are actually setups for greater gains

Warning: The Danger of Blindness in the Midst of Abundance

Daddy Adeboye’s devotional carries a sobering warning:

“A person can be surrounded by prosperity; however, if God doesn’t enable that person to see the opportunities He has placed around him or her, such a person can die in poverty.”

    The TragedyThe Cause
Surrounded by prosperity but dying in povertyLack of seeing eyes
Opportunities everywhere but never seeing themSpiritual blindness
Solutions in the house but never recognizing themUnopened eyes

This is not about physical poverty alone. It applies to every area of life:

    • Financial poverty while your skill or idea sits unused
    • Relational poverty while your family member lives next door
    • Ministry poverty while your testimony could reach thousands
    • Emotional poverty while the answer is in prayer and community

“I pray that my Daddy will give you seeing eyes so you will see opportunities where others see obstacles and experience breakthroughs where others experience oppositions, in Jesus’ name.”

    What “Seeing Eyes” Will Reveal

As you ask God for seeing eyes, here is what you can expect to perceive:

    Instead of Seeing…You Will See…
    A problemA opportunity
    LackThe seed of abundance
    A dead endA door opening
A person to avoidA divine connection
    A delayA divine setup
A closed doorA window of opportunity
    FamineA season for sowing

Conclusion: Your Prayer for Seeing Eyes

Daddy Adeboye closes with a prayer for seeing eyes. Do not wait. Your solution may already be in your house. Your breakthrough may already be in your hand. Ask God to open your eyes.

    Pray this:

“Father, I thank You that You are the God who opens eyes. You formed the seeing eye, and You can awaken it to see what I have been missing. Forgive me for the times I have looked at what I have and called it ‘nothing.’ Forgive me for focusing on lack when You have placed the seed of abundance in my hand. Today, I ask for seeing eyes. Open my eyes to see the solutions You have already placed around me. Open my eyes to see opportunities where I have seen obstacles. Open my eyes to see the ‘pot of oil’ in my house. I refuse to die in poverty surrounded by prosperity. I refuse to live in lack when my answer is already here. Give me seeing eyes. Give me obedient feet. And let me experience the potential of the little You have given me, in Jesus’ mighty name.”

    Action Steps:

    1. The “Pot of Oil” Inventory: Today, take 15 minutes to list everything you have in your house, your skill set, your relationships, and your life that could be the seed of a miracle. Do not despise anything as “too small.” Write it all down.
    2. The Elisha Question: Ask yourself honestly: What has God given me that I have dismissed as ‘nothing’? Identify one thing. Then ask God for instructions on what to do with it.
    3. The Seeing Eyes Prayer: For the next seven days, begin each morning with this prayer: “Lord, give me seeing eyes today. Show me what I have been missing. Open my eyes to the opportunities around me.”

“The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, the LORD hath made even both of them.” (Proverbs 20:12)
Your solution may already be in your house. Your breakthrough may already be in your hand. Stop looking for what you don’t have and ask God to open your eyes to what you do have. The pot of oil is enough—if you have eyes to see it and feet to obey.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 25 JUNE 2026 TODAY MESSAGE

Some people choose to be passive and not apply themselves in their careers and even things that have to do with God’s Kingdom, because they don’t want to start small. They keep postponing the things they ought to do because they feel that they are not equipped enough. If God has given you an assignment, you should not wait until you feel you are good enough to start.

This is because He knew your capacity and imperfections before He chose you. Even though you need to keep growing and equipping yourself so you can progressively become a more valuable vessel in His hands, you should not keep God waiting once He commissions you for an assignment because you want to become perfect for the assignment.

In John 4:1-30. when Jesus spoke to the Samaritan woman, she returned to her people and started telling them about Jesus. All she had was one encounter with the Master, but it was enough for people to follow her to see Him and encounter Him also. She didn’t first enrol in a theological school or go for classes with the Scribes; she started from where she was and with what she had.

When God called Moses in Exodus 3, he felt like he was not competent enough for the job. He kept giving God excuses and even suggested that He choose someone else. God never calls the qualified; rather, He always equips those He chooses.

God can choose to bypass individuals who seem vastly experienced and qualified, and select a totally inexperienced and unqualified person. For example, God bypassed Jesse’s older sons to choose David, the lastborn of the family, who appeared unqualified for kingship. Psalm 78:70-71 says that God picked David from the sheepfolds and brought him to feed His inheritance. God delights in using the foolish things of the world to confound the wise (1 Corinthians 1:27). He also can choose to hide some things from the wise and rather reveal them to babes (Matthew 11:25).

Beloved, has God called you to do something for Him? Look beyond your current resources and what seems to be your capacity, and launch out.

Start from where you are; don’t despise your little beginnings. On Judgement Day, God will not be concerned about the skilled and qualified; rather, He will be looking to say, “..Well done, thou good and faithful servant…” (Matthew 25:21).

Start small, remain faithful, and the Lord will equip you with all that you need as you carry out your divine assignments.

    KEY POINT

When God gives you an assignment, start from where you are.

    BIBLE IN ONE YEAR

    Psalms 112-118

HYMN 35: ’TIS SO SWEET TO TRUST IN JESUS

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 25 JUNE 2026 COMMENTARY

    MEMORISE: Zechariah 4:10

“For who hath despised the day of small things?…”

This verse is a divine rebuke against the attitude that looks down on humble beginnings. Daddy Adeboye anchors today’s devotional on this text because it confronts a common paralysis among believers: the refusal to start small. The “day of small things” is not a mistake or a delay—it is a divinely ordained season. Those who despise it despise God’s method. Great things do not begin great; they begin small. A mighty oak begins as an acorn. A global ministry begins as a conversation with one person. A kingdom assignment begins with one step of obedience, however tiny.

    BIBLE READING: John 4:25-30

This passage records the aftermath of Jesus’ conversation with the Samaritan woman at the well. After Jesus revealed Himself to her as the Messiah, she left her waterpot, went back into the city, and said to the people, “Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?” They went out of the city and came to Jesus. Many Samaritans believed because of her testimony. Daddy Adeboye highlights a crucial detail: this woman had no theological training, no ministerial credentials, no platform, and no experience. She had only one encounter with Jesus. But she started from where she was, with what she had, and an entire city came to Christ.

The Trap of Waiting Until You Are “Ready”

    1. The Paralysis of Perfectionism

“Some people choose to be passive and not apply themselves in their careers and even things that have to do with God’s Kingdom, because they don’t want to start small. They keep postponing the things they ought to do because they feel that they are not equipped enough.”

This is one of the enemy’s most effective strategies: convincing you that you are not ready, not qualified, not equipped, not enough. The result is paralysis.

    The ExcuseThe Reality
“I need more training”Training becomes a delay tactic, not preparation
“I’m not skilled enough”God specializes in using the unskilled
“I’ll start when I feel ready”You will never feel ready; start anyway
“Let me wait until I have more resources”Faith steps out with what it has, not what it hopes to have

“If God has given you an assignment, you should not wait until you feel you are good enough to start. This is because He knew your capacity and imperfections before He chose you.”

This is liberating truth. God did not choose you because you were qualified. He chose you because He is sovereign, and He plans to qualify you through the process of obedience. Your imperfections are not surprises to Him. He knew every weakness, every gap, every lack—and He still said, “You are the one.”

    2. The Need for Continuous Growth, Not Perfect Starting

“Even though you need to keep growing and equipping yourself so you can progressively become a more valuable vessel in His hands, you should not keep God waiting once He commissions you for an assignment because you want to become perfect for the assignment.”

What God WantsWhat God Does Not Require
Obedience that starts nowPerfection before starting
Faith that steps outFull competency from day one
A willing heartA fully equipped résumé
Growth along the wayArrival before departure

You will grow by doing, not by waiting. You will be equipped in the assignment, not before the assignment. The disciples learned to heal by healing, to preach by preaching, to cast out demons by casting them out. They did not wait until they were perfect. They started where they were, with what they had, and grew along the way.

The Samaritan Woman: Starting with One Encounter

    1. Her Lack of Qualifications

*”In John 4:1-30, when Jesus spoke to the Samaritan woman, she returned to her people and started telling them about Jesus. All she had was one encounter with the Master, but it was enough for people to follow her to see Him and encounter Him also.”*

Consider what this woman did NOT have:

What She Did Not HaveWhat She Had
    Theological trainingOne encounter with Jesus
A spotless reputation (she had been married five times)A transformed heart
    Official religious credentialsGenuine testimony
A pulpit or platformA city full of people who knew her
    Years of preparationImmediate obedience

“She didn’t first enrol in a theological school or go for classes with the Scribes; she started from where she was and with what she had.”

This is the model. She did not say, “Let me first go to Jerusalem and study under the rabbis.” She did not say, “I need to clean up my reputation before I can speak to anyone.” She did not say, “I’m not eloquent enough; let me wait until I can preach like Peter.” She simply went and told her story. And the result? “Many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying of the woman, which testified” (John 4:39).

    2. What You Have Is Enough to Start

Your “Small” BeginningWhat God Can Do With It
A personal testimonyLead others to Christ
A single conversationStart a chain reaction of belief
A simple invitationBring someone to church who needs Jesus
A small groupGrow into a movement
A seed of obedienceBecome a harvest of souls

Do not despise what you have because it seems small. The Samaritan woman’s “small” was a testimony. And it brought a city to Jesus.

    Moses: The Reluctant Starter

“When God called Moses in Exodus 3, he felt like he was not competent enough for the job. He kept giving God excuses and even suggested that He choose someone else.”

    Consider Moses’ excuses:

    Moses’ ExcuseGod’s Response
“Who am I?” (Exodus 3:11)“Certainly I will be with thee” (Exodus 3:12)
“What if they don’t believe me?” (Exodus 4:1)God gave him signs: rod to serpent, leprous hand
“I am not eloquent” (Exodus 4:10)“Who made man’s mouth? Have not I, the Lord?”
“Send someone else” (Exodus 4:13)God’s anger kindled, but He sent Aaron as helper

“God never calls the qualified; rather, He always equips those He chooses.”

    The World’s WayGod’s Way
Find the qualified and call themCall the unqualified and qualify them
Hire based on résuméChoose based on heart
    Demand experienceSupply the needed power
Look for natural abilitySupernaturally enable the obedient

If you are waiting until you feel qualified, you will never start. God does not call the qualified—He qualifies the called. Your job is to obey. His job is to equip.

David: The Shepherd Boy Chosen Over Warriors

“God can choose to bypass individuals who seem vastly experienced and qualified, and select a totally inexperienced and unqualified person. For example, God bypassed Jesse’s older sons to choose David, the lastborn of the family, who appeared unqualified for kingship.”

    Consider David’s lack of qualifications:

The Older Sons (Eliab, Abinadab, Shammah)David
Tall, impressive, warrior-likeA boy, ruddy, handsome but young
Eligible for military serviceA shepherd, not a soldier
    Appeared qualifiedAppeared unqualified
Passed over by GodChosen by God

*”Psalm 78:70-71 says that God picked David from the sheepfolds and brought him to feed His inheritance.”*

    David’s Small BeginningWhat It Became
A shepherd boy with a slingA king who defeated Goliath
Hidden among the sheepAnointed as ruler over Israel
Unknown to the worldA man after God’s own heart

“God delights in using the foolish things of the world to confound the wise (1 Corinthians 1:27).”

1 Corinthians 1:27 – “But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty.”

Your “small” and “foolish” and “weak” are exactly what God delights to use. He does not need your strength—He needs your availability. He does not require your credentials—He requires your obedience.

The Warning: Do Not Despise Your Little Beginnings

“He also can choose to hide some things from the wise and rather reveal them to babes (Matthew 11:25).”

Who Gets the RevelationWho Misses It
Babes (the humble, the simple, the obedient)The wise and prudent (the self-sufficient, the proud)
Those who start smallThose who wait for the perfect platform
Those who use what they haveThose who despise their current capacity

“Beloved, has God called you to do something for Him? Look beyond your current resources and what seems to be your capacity, and launch out.”

What Holds You BackWhat Faith Says
“I don’t have enough money”“God owns the cattle on a thousand hills”
“I don’t have the right connections”“God opens doors no man can shut”
“I’m too young / too old”“God uses children (David) and elders (Abraham)”
“I don’t have the education”“The apostles were unlearned men (Acts 4:13)”
“I failed before”“God specializes in second chances”

How to Start Small and Stay Faithful (Practical Steps)

Based on Daddy Adeboye’s teaching, here is how to overcome the fear of small beginnings:

    1. Stop Comparing Yourself to Others

Comparison is the thief of small beginnings. Do not look at someone else’s platform, budget, or reach and conclude that your small start is insignificant. The Samaritan woman did not compare her testimony to Peter’s sermons. She simply told what she knew.

    2. Start with What You Have, Where You Are

    Instead of Saying…Say…
“I need a bigger audience”“I will speak to the one person in front of me”
“I need more money”“I will use the little I have faithfully”
“I need a better location”“I will start in my home, my street, my workplace”
“I need more training”“I will teach what I already know”

    3. Take One Step Today

Do not wait for the perfect plan. Do not wait for all the details to be clear. Do not wait for fear to disappear. Take one step today. Send one message. Make one call. Offer one prayer. Write one page. Start.

    4. Grow While You Go

You do not have to have it all figured out before you begin. Moses figured out leadership while leading. David figured out kingship while reigning. The disciples figured out ministry while ministering. You will learn on the job. That is the design.

    5. Remain Faithful in the Small

“Start small, remain faithful, and the Lord will equip you with all that you need as you carry out your divine assignments.”

    Faithful in SmallLeads To
Faithful in a few thingsRuler over many things (Matthew 25:21)
    Faithful in your testimonyGreater influence
Faithful in your local churchWider ministry
    Faithful in hidden placesPublic platforms

What Will Matter on Judgment Day

“On Judgement Day, God will not be concerned about the skilled and qualified; rather, He will be looking to say, ‘…Well done, thou good and faithful servant…’ (Matthew 25:21).”

What Will Not MatterWhat Will Matter
    Your degrees and credentialsYour faithfulness
The size of your platformYour obedience to what He gave you
How many people followed youHow well you followed Him
    Your impressive résuméYour humble service
    Your eloquenceYour willingness

Conclusion: Your Prayer for Small Beginnings

Daddy Adeboye closes with a call to launch out, look beyond your current resources, and start from where you are. Do not despise the day of small things.

    Pray this:

“Lord Jesus, I confess that I have despised the day of small things. I have waited until I felt ready, until I had more resources, until I was more qualified. Forgive me for my passivity and my perfectionism. Today, I receive Your assignment. I will not wait any longer. I will start where I am. I will start with what I have. I will not compare my beginning to someone else’s ending. I will be faithful in the small. Equip me as I go. Grow me through the process. Use my one testimony, my one conversation, my one step of obedience to bring glory to Your name. I will not despise the day of small things, for I know that great things come from small beginnings. In Jesus’ mighty name.”

    Action Steps:

    1. The “One Thing” Challenge: Identify one specific assignment God has given you that you have been delaying because you feel unready. Commit to taking ONE action toward it within the next 24 hours—no matter how small.
    2. The Qualifications Audit: Write down all the reasons you feel unqualified for what God has called you to do. Then, next to each one, write God’s response from Scripture (e.g., “Not eloquent” → “I made your mouth”). Burn or tear up the list as an act of faith.
    3. The Samaritan Step: Is there someone you need to share your testimony with? One person? Do not wait for a pulpit. Speak to that one person this week. Let your “small” beginning be the seed of a larger harvest.

“For who hath despised the day of small things?” (Zechariah 4:10)
Stop waiting. Stop comparing. Stop making excuses. God knew your capacity before He called you. Start where you are. Use what you have. Be faithful in the small. The day of small things is not a delay—it is a divine design. Do not despise it. Embrace it. Launch out.

TOPIC: ARE YOU PLANTED AND SERVING?

    MEMORISE:

Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God.
    Psalm 92:13

    READ: Acts 13:1-3

Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.
2 As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.
3 And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 24 JUNE 2026 TODAY MESSAGE

In Luke 12:7 Jesus said that the strands of hair on your I head are numbered. If God is so meticulous about the number of hair strands on your head, then your decision of where to fellowship with other believers greatly matters to Him. Therefore, it is important for you to seek God’s face for guidance in choosing the local assembly where you will fellowship with other believers.

    Isaiah 61:3 says:
To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.

You are the planting of the Lord, so He knows best where you should be planted so you can flourish according to His will and to His glory. Today’s Bible reading makes us understand that Paul and Barnabas attended the church at Antioch. It was while they were there that the Holy Spirit commissioned them into ministry. There was a church in Jerusalem and another at Samaria at that time, but God spoke to them in the church at Antioch. They were planted in their local assembly, and that was why God sent His word to them there.

Child of God, it is, however, not enough to know the church God wants you to attend; it is also crucial to be rooted and fully involved there. Seeds grow when they fall to the ground and die. In John 12:24, Jesus said that except a corn of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it abides alone, but if it dies, it produces much fruit. Some Christians hop from church to church because they don’t see the necessity of being planted in a local assembly; however, God can hardly bless them that way Some others attend church regularly but are not involved in serving within a department or ministry.

Such believers are out of the church building as soon as the service ends.

Beloved, only seeds that are planted can grow and bear fruit. Believers cannot enjoy the fullness of God’s blessings if they are not planted and serving in the local assembly God wants them to be because only those who are planted in the house of the Lord truly flourish (Psalm 92:13). I pray that the Lord will establish your feet in His vineyard and shower you with manifold blessings, in Jesus name.

    PRAYER POINT

Have you allowed God to plant you in His vineyard, and are you serving there?

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 24 JUNE 2026 COMMENTARY

    MEMORISE: Psalm 92:13

“Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God.”

This verse reveals a critical spiritual principle: flourishing is connected to planting. Daddy Adeboye anchors today’s devotional on this text because it corrects the casual attitude many believers have toward church membership. The word “planted” implies intentionality, permanence, and rooting. A planted tree does not move from place to place searching for better soil. It sinks its roots deep and draws nourishment from where it is placed. The promise of flourishing is not for those who merely visit the house of the Lord occasionally, but for those who are planted there—established, committed, and deeply rooted.

    BIBLE READING: Acts 13:1-3

“Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul. As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them. And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.”

This passage records a pivotal moment in church history: the commissioning of Paul and Barnabas for missionary work. Daddy Adeboye highlights a crucial detail: this commission did not happen in Jerusalem (the “mother church”) or in Samaria (where revival had occurred). It happened in Antioch—the local assembly where Paul and Barnabas were planted, serving, fasting, and ministering to the Lord. If they had not been planted in that local church, they would have missed their divine commissioning.

    God Cares Where You Fellowship

    1. The Meticulous God (Luke 12:7)

“In Luke 12:7 Jesus said that the strands of hair on your head are numbered. If God is so meticulous about the number of hair strands on your head, then your decision of where to fellowship with other believers greatly matters to Him.”

    What God NumbersWhat This Reveals
The hairs on your headHe is attentive to the smallest details of your life
The stars in the sky (Psalm 147:4)Nothing is too small or too large for His attention
Your tears (Psalm 56:8)He cares about your emotional life
Your days (Psalm 139:16)He has planned your entire life

“Therefore, it is important for you to seek God’s face for guidance in choosing the local assembly where you will fellowship with other believers.”

Many Christians choose a church based on convenience (close to home), aesthetics (beautiful building), entertainment (good music), or social reasons (friends attend there). But Daddy Adeboye insists: seek God’s face. Ask Him where He wants you planted. Your church home is not a casual decision—it is a spiritual assignment.

    2. You Are the Planting of the Lord (Isaiah 61:3)

“Isaiah 61:3 says: ‘To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.’”

    What This Verse RevealsImplication
You are a “tree of righteousness”You are designed to grow, bear fruit, and provide shade
You are “the planting of the LORD”God is the Gardener; He decides where you are planted
The purpose is that He might be glorifiedYour flourishing brings glory to God, not just blessing to you

“You are the planting of the Lord, so He knows best where you should be planted so you can flourish according to His will and to His glory.”

A farmer does not plant a cactus in a swamp or a rice plant in a desert. He knows the specific soil, climate, and conditions each plant needs to thrive. God knows exactly what environment you need—what church, what ministry, what community—to grow into the fullness of His purpose for you.

The Antioch Example: Planted for Commissioning

    1. The Church at Antioch

“Today’s Bible reading makes us understand that Paul and Barnabas attended the church at Antioch. It was while they were there that the Holy Spirit commissioned them into ministry.”

    Consider the significance:

Other Churches at That TimeWhy Antioch?
Jerusalem (the first church, apostolic center)God chose Antioch instead
Samaria (where Philip preached and revival broke out)God chose Antioch instead
Other scattered congregationsAntioch was the place of commissioning

“There was a church in Jerusalem and another at Samaria at that time, but God spoke to them in the church at Antioch. They were planted in their local assembly, and that was why God sent His word to them there.”

This is a crucial point. Paul (then called Saul) had been converted on the road to Damascus. He had spent time in Jerusalem. He had met with the apostles. But his divine commissioning for missionary work did not come in Jerusalem—it came in Antioch, the local church where he was planted and serving.

    2. What Were They Doing When God Spoke?

“As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul…”

    Their PostureWhat It Means
Ministering to the LordThey were serving, worshiping, actively involved
FastingThey were seeking God with intensity, not casually attending
Together as a churchThey were not isolated; they were in community

God did not speak to Paul and Barnabas while they were alone in their homes. He did not speak to them while they were hopping between churches. He spoke to them while they were plantedserving, and seeking God together in their local assembly.

The Necessity of Being Planted, Not Just Present

    1. Seeds Grow When Planted, Not When Hopping

“Child of God, it is, however, not enough to know the church God wants you to attend; it is also crucial to be rooted and fully involved there.”

    Casual AttenderPlanted Member
Attends when convenientCommits regardless of convenience
    Sits and watchesServes and participates
Leaves as soon as service endsStays connected throughout the week
No deep relationshipsHas spiritual family, accountability, support
Easily offended and leavesWorks through conflicts, grows roots

“Seeds grow when they fall to the ground and die. In John 12:24, Jesus said that except a corn of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it abides alone, but if it dies, it produces much fruit.”

John 12:24 – “Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.”

The Seed That HopsThe Seed That Is Planted
Rolls from place to placeDrops into the soil
Remains alone, unfruitfulDies to self, produces much fruit
    Never establishes rootsSinks roots deep
Never draws consistent nourishmentDraws life from the soil
Never grows into a treeGrows into a flourishing tree

“Some Christians hop from church to church because they don’t see the necessity of being planted in a local assembly; however, God can hardly bless them that way.”

This is a strong statement. God “can hardly bless” the church-hopper. Why? Because blessing flows through covenant, commitment, and rootedness. A rolling stone gathers no moss. A rolling Christian gathers no spiritual weight, no deep relationships, no lasting fruit.

    2. Involvement, Not Just Attendance

“Some others attend church regularly but are not involved in serving within a department or ministry. Such believers are out of the church building as soon as the service ends.”

    Attender OnlyInvolved Member
    Comes, sits, listensComes, serves, contributes
Receives but does not giveReceives and gives back
Unconnected to church lifeConnected through ministry
Leaves immediatelyStays for fellowship, meetings, prayer
Unknown to the leadershipKnown, accountable, shepherded

“Believers cannot enjoy the fullness of God’s blessings if they are not planted and serving in the local assembly God wants them to be…”

The “fullness of God’s blessings” is reserved for the planted. You can be saved and attend church without being planted. You can even be a member on paper while your heart is elsewhere. But the deep, abundant, overflowing blessings—the kind that make you flourish like a tree planted by rivers of water—require roots.

Why Planting Leads to Flourishing (Psalm 92:13)

“…only those who are planted in the house of the LORD truly flourish.”

The Planted Tree (Psalm 1:3)The Unplanted Believer
Planted by rivers of waterWanders in dry places
Brings forth fruit in seasonBarely produces, if at all
Leaf does not witherSpiritually dry, easily scorched
Prospers in whatever he doesStruggles to gain traction

Psalm 92:12-14 – “The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God. They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing.”

    Notice the progression:

    • Planted → Flourishing
    • Flourishing → Fruit in old age
    • Fruit in old age → Fat and flourishing (abundant life)

The palm tree and the cedar are known for their longevity, stability, and usefulness. They do not transplant well. They need to be planted and left alone to grow deep roots. That is the picture of the committed believer in a local church.

How to Find and Be Planted in the Right Local Assembly

Based on Daddy Adeboye’s teaching, here is how to seek God’s guidance and commit to a church home:

    1. Seek God’s Face for Direction

Do not choose a church based on convenience, music, building, or social connections alone. Pray:

    • “Lord, where do You want me planted?”
    • “What local assembly will help me grow into Your purpose for my life?”
    • “Where can I serve and be most effective for Your kingdom?”

    2. Once You Know, Commit Fully

Do not keep one foot out the door. Do not keep “visiting” other churches while attending yours. Plant yourself. Join a department. Volunteer. Attend midweek services. Come to prayer meetings. Let the church know your face, your name, and your gifts.

    3. Become Involved in Serving

“Only seeds that are planted can grow and bear fruit.”

    Ways to ServeWhy It Matters
Choir or music ministryYour worship leads others
Ushering or hospitalityYour service creates an environment for encounter
Sunday school or children’s ministryYour teaching shapes the next generation
Technical or media teamYour skills amplify the gospel
Cleaning or maintenanceYour hidden work enables public worship

Even if you start small, start somewhere. A seed that does not break open and send out roots and shoots remains alone. Service is the “breaking open” of the seed.

    4. Die to the Option of Leaving at Every Offense

    Church-hoppers often leave because:

    • The pastor said something they didn’t like
    • Someone offended them
    • They didn’t get the recognition they wanted
    • A different church seemed more exciting

A planted seed does not complain about the soil. It adapts, draws nourishment, and grows. Commit to working through offenses, forgiving, and staying unless God clearly directs you otherwise.

    Warning: Church-Hopping Is Spiritual Rootlessness

Daddy Adeboye’s devotional carries a clear warning: the church-hopper may look busy and involved, but spiritually, they are like a tumbleweed—blown here and there, never rooted, never flourishing.

    The Church-HopperThe Planted Believer
Has attended many churchesHas a church home
Knows many pastors superficiallyIs known by one pastor deeply
Has many opinions but no accountabilityHas spiritual authority and covering
Leaves when problems ariseWorks through problems
Rarely serves consistentlyServes faithfully over time
Wonders why God doesn’t speak clearlyHears God in the context of community

“I pray that the Lord will establish your feet in His vineyard and shower you with manifold blessings, in Jesus’ name.”

Establishment is the opposite of wandering. May God plant you, root you, and cause you to flourish in the local assembly He has chosen for you.

Conclusion: Your Prayer for Planting and Flourishing

Daddy Adeboye closes with a prayer for establishment and manifold blessings. Do not settle for being a wandering seed. Choose a church home. Plant yourself. Serve. Flourish.

    Pray this:

“Lord Jesus, I thank You that You are the Gardener and I am the planting of the Lord. Forgive me for treating church membership casually. Forgive me for hopping from place to place without ever sinking roots. Forgive me for attending without serving, for receiving without giving. Today, I ask You: show me the local assembly where You want me planted. I will not choose based on convenience or preference. I will choose based on Your will. Once You show me, I will commit. I will serve. I will be involved. I will not leave at the first offense or the first disappointment. Plant me deep in Your house. Let me flourish like a palm tree, bearing fruit even in old age. Let me be a tree of righteousness for Your glory. Establish my feet in Your vineyard, and shower me with manifold blessings, in Jesus’ mighty name.”

    Action Steps:

    1. The Church Audit: If you are not currently planted in a local assembly, commit this week to visiting churches with a prayerful heart. Ask God: “Is this where You want me?” Do not choose until you have peace.
    2. The Involvement Commitment: If you already have a church home but are not serving, approach a ministry leader this week and say, “I want to be planted. Where can I serve?” Start somewhere, even if it is small.
    3. The Rooting Challenge: For the next six months, commit to staying in your local assembly unless God clearly directs you otherwise. When offense comes (and it will), choose to forgive, stay, and grow through it.

“Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God.” (Psalm 92:13)
Stop hopping. Stop wandering. Seek God’s face. Find your church home. Plant yourself. Serve faithfully. Die to the option of leaving. And you will flourish like you have never flourished before.

    TOPIC: CHOOSE GOD’S SIDE

    MEMORISE:

I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:
    Deuteronomy 30:19

    READ: Exodus 32:19-28

19 And it came to pass, as soon as he came nigh unto the camp, that he saw the calf, and the dancing: and Moses’ anger waxed hot, and he cast the tables out of his hands, and brake them beneath the mount.
20 And he took the calf which they had made, and burnt it in the fire, and ground it to powder, and strawed it upon the water, and made the children of Israel drink of it.

21 And Moses said unto Aaron, What did this people unto thee, that thou hast brought so great a sin upon them?
22 And Aaron said, Let not the anger of my lord wax hot: thou knowest the people, that they are set on mischief.
23 For they said unto me, Make us gods, which shall go before us: for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.
24 And I said unto them, Whosoever hath any gold, let them break it off. So they gave it me: then I cast it into the fire, and there came out this calf.
25 And when Moses saw that the people were naked; (for Aaron had made them naked unto their shame among their enemies)

26 Then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said, Who is on the Lord’s side? let him come unto me. And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together unto him.

27 And he said unto them, Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, Put every man his sword by his side, and go in and out from gate to gate throughout the camp, and slay every man his brother, and every man his companion, and every man his neighbour.
28 And the children of Levi did according to the word of Moses: and there fell of the people that day about three thousand men.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 23 JUNE 2026 TODAY MESSAGE

As we see in today’s memory verse, God has set before everyone life and death, and blessing and cursing. You may say that you choose life and blessing, but truly, it is your daily actions that will reveal your actual choices.

In life, there are no ‘little’ decisions or actions. Every action a fellow takes determines whether he or she is choosing life or death. In Genesis 25:29-34, the Bible tells us how Esau returned home hungry and asked Jacob to give him a bowl of food in exchange for his birthright. He didn’t know that his action would exclude him and his unborn children from the blessing he should have received.

Today, nobody says, “The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Esau,” because Esau made himself unfit to carry the blessing when he despised his firstborn position in his family. He chose wrongly, and he paid dearly for it.

In Joshua 7:16-26, the Bible tells us how Achan’s wrong decision ultimately led to the destruction of his lineage. When God gave the Israelites victory over Jericho, God expressly commanded them not to take anything from Jericho. However, Achan chose to side with greed and ended up dying with every member of his family.

I pray that in any area you might have made a wrong decision that has put you and your family in trouble, God’s mercy will speak for you and help you retrace your steps, in Jesus’ name.

Beloved, for your sake and generations after you that are yet unborn, ensure that you stay on God’s side. Don’t be hypocritical and pretend to be someone you are not. Be on God’s side so that when He blesses you, your lineage will also be blessed.

Love God wholeheartedly, not just for your sake, but also your lineage’s sake. Psalm 112:1-2 says that if you delight in the Lord, your seed shall be mighty on the earth. This means that your descendants will not be ordinary; rather, they will be distinguished among their peers. Isaac became mighty because Abraham chose to side with God.

The Bible described him as ‘great’ and then ‘very great. At a point, he became mightier than an entire nation, and this made the king to ask him to leave their land (Genesis 26:13-16).

Child of God, whatever or whomever you choose to side with will affect you and your descendants. I urge you to choose life with all your actions so that you and every individual in your lineage will live.

    KEY POINT:

Your actions will impact you and your lineage.

    MEMORISE: Deuteronomy 30:19

“I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live.”

This verse is one of the most solemn and consequential in all of Scripture. Daddy Adeboye anchors today’s devotional on this text because it reveals that God does not force anyone into blessing or cursing. He sets both before you, clearly and openly, and then He gives you the dignity of choice. But notice: your choice does not affect only you. The verse says “that both thou and thy seed may live.” Your decisions echo into the lives of your children, grandchildren, and generations yet unborn. There is no neutral ground. Every action is a vote for either life or death, blessing or cursing.

    BIBLE READING: Exodus 32:19-28

This passage records the aftermath of the golden calf incident. While Moses was on Mount Sinai receiving the Ten Commandments, the Israelites grew impatient and demanded that Aaron make them gods to lead them. Aaron collected golden earrings, fashioned a golden calf, and the people bowed to it, sacrificed to it, and engaged in revelry. When Moses descended and saw the abomination, he broke the tablets of stone, ground the golden calf to powder, mixed it with water, and made the Israelites drink it. Then he stood at the gate of the camp and said, “Who is on the LORD’s side? let him come unto me.” The sons of Levi gathered to him, and at God’s command, they killed about three thousand men who had persisted in rebellion. Daddy Adeboye uses this to show that the choice of which side you stand on has immediate and eternal consequences.

    The Reality of Two Paths

    1. Life and Death, Blessing and Cursing Are Before You

“As we see in today’s memory verse, God has set before everyone life and death, and blessing and cursing. You may say that you choose life and blessing, but truly, it is your daily actions that will reveal your actual choices.”

This is a critical distinction. Many people say they choose life. They profess that they want blessing. But their daily actions tell a different story.

    WordsActions
“I choose life”But they spend time on activities that lead to death
“I want blessing”But they make decisions that invite cursing
“I am on God’s side”But they compromise with the world, the flesh, and the devil

“In life, there are no ‘little’ decisions or actions. Every action a fellow takes determines whether he or she is choosing life or death.”

There is no such thing as a spiritually neutral action. Every decision—what you watch, what you say, where you go, who you spend time with, how you handle money, how you treat your spouse—is either a choice for life or a choice for death. Small choices compound into destinies.

Esau: The Wrong Choice That Echoed Through Generations

    1. The Incident (Genesis 25:29-34)

*”In Genesis 25:29-34, the Bible tells us how Esau returned home hungry and asked Jacob to give him a bowl of food in exchange for his birthright. He didn’t know that his action would exclude him and his unborn children from the blessing he should have received.”*

    Consider the scene:

    Esau’s ConditionEsau’s Decision
Exhausted from hunting“I am at the point of death”
Famished, hungrySold his birthright for a single meal
Focused on immediate needIgnored the long-term consequences

“He didn’t know that his action would exclude him and his unborn children from the blessing he should have received.”

Esau saw only the bowl of stew. He did not see the generations of descendants who would be denied the covenant blessing. He did not know that his name would become a byword for foolishness (Hebrews 12:16-17 calls him a “profane person” who sold his birthright for one morsel of food).

    2. The Consequence

“Today, nobody says, ‘The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Esau,’ because Esau made himself unfit to carry the blessing when he despised his firstborn position in his family. He chose wrongly, and he paid dearly for it.”

What Esau LostWhat It Means for You
His birthright (double portion, leadership of the family, covenant blessing)Your wrong choices can forfeit spiritual inheritance
His place in the lineage of the MessiahYour decisions affect God’s plan through your line
His name removed from the covenant formulaFuture generations will not honor you as a spiritual father
The priesthood of the firstbornYour role in God’s purposes can be transferred to another

“He chose wrongly, and he paid dearly for it.”

Esau’s choice seemed small—a bowl of stew. But it revealed his heart: he valued immediate gratification over eternal inheritance. He despised his birthright. And for that, he and his descendants were cut off.

Achan: The Wrong Choice That Destroyed a Lineage

    1. The Incident (Joshua 7:16-26)

*”In Joshua 7:16-26, the Bible tells us how Achan’s wrong decision ultimately led to the destruction of his lineage. When God gave the Israelites victory over Jericho, God expressly commanded them not to take anything from Jericho.”*

    God’s command was clear:

    What God CommandedWhat Achan Did
“Keep yourselves from the accursed thing” (Joshua 6:18)He took a Babylonian garment, 200 shekels of silver, and a wedge of gold
“Lest ye make yourselves accursed”He hid the items in his tent
“Trouble the camp of Israel”His sin caused Israel to lose the battle against Ai

    2. The Consequence

“However, Achan chose to side with greed and ended up dying with every member of his family.”

    Achan’s ChoiceThe Result
He chose greed over obedienceHe was stoned to death
He hid the stolen goods in his tentHis entire family was destroyed with him
He thought no one would knowGod revealed his sin publicly

Joshua 7:25 – “And Joshua said, Why hast thou troubled us? the LORD shall trouble thee this day. And all Israel stoned him with stones, and burned them with fire, after they had stoned them with stones.”

Achan’s sin was not private. His decision did not affect only him. His entire household perished because of his wrong choice.

“I pray that in any area you might have made a wrong decision that has put you and your family in trouble, God’s mercy will speak for you and help you retrace your steps, in Jesus’ name.”

This is a prayer of mercy. Achan had no opportunity to repent—judgment came swiftly. But Daddy Adeboye prays that if you have made wrong choices, God’s mercy will allow you to retrace your steps before it is too late.

The Principle: Your Choices Affect Your Descendants

    1. For Your Sake and for Generations Unborn

“Beloved, for your sake and generations after you that are yet unborn, ensure that you stay on God’s side.”

If You Stay on God’s SideIf You Stray from God’s Side
Your descendants will be blessedYour descendants may inherit your curses
Your name will be honored in your lineageYour name may become a cautionary tale
Your children will have a spiritual inheritanceYour children may struggle to find their footing

“Don’t be hypocritical and pretend to be someone you are not. Be on God’s side so that when He blesses you, your lineage will also be blessed.”

Hypocrisy is pretending to be on God’s side while your actions are on the side of the world. This deception may fool people, but it does not fool God. And it certainly does not fool your children, who watch your actions more than they listen to your words.

    2. Abraham’s Example: One Man’s Choice Blessed Generations

*”Isaac became mighty because Abraham chose to side with God. The Bible described him as ‘great’ and then ‘very great.’ At a point, he became mightier than an entire nation, and this made the king to ask him to leave their land (Genesis 26:13-16).”*

Abraham’s ChoiceThe Result for His Descendants
He left his homeland when God calledIsaac inherited the blessing
He believed God’s promiseJacob received the covenant
He obeyed God’s voiceThe nation of Israel was born

*”Psalm 112:1-2 says that if you delight in the Lord, your seed shall be mighty on the earth. This means that your descendants will not be ordinary; rather, they will be distinguished among their peers.”*

Psalm 112:1-2 – “Blessed is the man that feareth the LORD, that delighteth greatly in his commandments. His seed shall be mighty upon earth: the generation of the upright shall be blessed.”

Your delight in God today determines whether your children will be mighty tomorrow. Your fear of the Lord now shapes whether your grandchildren will walk in blessing.

Who Is on the Lord’s Side? (Exodus 32)

Daddy Adeboye’s Bible reading presents the ultimate test:

“Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said, Who is on the LORD’S side? let him come unto me.”

    The QuestionThe Response
“Who is on the Lord’s side?”The sons of Levi gathered to him
The others? They chose the golden calf

The question is still being asked today. Not with words alone, but with every decision you make:

Daily ChoicesWhich Side You Are Choosing
How you spend your timeGod’s side or the world’s side
How you spend your moneyKingdom side or selfish side
What you watch and listen toHoly side or profane side
Who you spend time withRighteous side or ungodly side
How you respond to temptationLife side or death side

“Child of God, whatever or whomever you choose to side with will affect you and your descendants. I urge you to choose life with all your actions so that you and every individual in your lineage will live.”

How to Choose Life in Every Action (Practical Steps)

Based on Daddy Adeboye’s teaching, here is how to ensure your daily choices align with life and blessing:

    1. Recognize That No Decision Is Small

Stop telling yourself, “It’s just this one time” or “This little thing doesn’t matter.” Esau’s bowl of stew was small. Achan’s garment and silver were small. But the consequences were catastrophic. Every decision is a seed. You will harvest what you sow (Galatians 6:7-8).

    2. Evaluate Every Decision by Its Long-Term Impact

    Instead of Asking…Ask…
“Will this make me happy now?”“Will this bring blessing to my descendants?”
“Does this feel good?”“Is this on God’s side?”
“What will people think?”“What will God say?”
“Is this technically a sin?”“Is this choosing life?”

    3. Love God Wholeheartedly

“Love God wholeheartedly, not just for your sake, but also your lineage’s sake.”

Wholehearted love produces wholehearted obedience. Halfhearted love produces halfhearted obedience—which, as you have learned, is disobedience. Love God with all your heart, soul, and strength (Deuteronomy 6:5). Your children will notice.

    4. Repent and Retrace Your Steps

Daddy Adeboye prayed for mercy to retrace wrong steps. If you have made choices that have put you and your family in trouble:

    • Confess the specific wrong choice to God
    • Renounce the decision and its effects
    • Turn around (repent) and walk in the opposite direction
    • Ask God’s mercy to cover your descendants from the consequences

    5. Consider Your Legacy

Ask yourself: What will my grandchildren say about my choices? Will they call me blessed, or will they suffer because of my foolishness? Let the weight of legacy shape your decisions today.

Warning: The Birthright Cannot Be Recovered

Esau sought the blessing afterward with tears (Hebrews 12:17). He wanted to reverse his decision. But it was too late. The birthright was gone. The blessing was transferred.

    DecisionIrreversible Consequences
A moment of pleasureA lifetime of regret
    A small compromiseA lost inheritance
A secret sin (like Achan)Public shame and destruction
A wrong side in a spiritual battleGenerational loss

Do not think you can always repent later. For Esau, “later” came too late. For Achan, there was no “later”—only judgment. Choose life now. Choose blessing now. Your descendants are depending on you.

Conclusion: Your Prayer for Generational Blessing

Daddy Adeboye closes with an urgent plea: choose life so that you and your lineage will live. Pray this prayer not just for yourself, but for your children, grandchildren, and generations yet unborn.

    Pray this:

“Father, I come before You recognizing that You have set before me life and death, blessing and cursing. Today, I choose life. I choose blessing. Forgive me for the small decisions I have treated as insignificant—the compromises, the secret sins, the moments of choosing the world over You. I repent of every Esau moment, every Achan-like greed, every choice that has put my lineage at risk. By Your mercy, allow me to retrace my steps. Restore what I have lost. Heal what I have damaged in my descendants. From this day forward, I will love You wholeheartedly. I will obey You completely. I will choose life in every action, so that my children and my children’s children will be mighty on the earth. I want my name to be associated with blessing, not cursing. I want my descendants to say, ‘The Lord is our God because our father/mother chose Him.’ Let my life be a blessing to generations yet unborn, in Jesus’ mighty name.”

    Action Steps:

    1. The Generational Audit: Sit down and write out the spiritual legacy you have inherited from your parents and grandparents (both positive and negative). Then write out the legacy you are currently building for your children and grandchildren. Are you proud of what you see? If not, change course today.
    2. The “Small Decision” Tracker: For one week, at the end of each day, write down three seemingly “small” decisions you made. Next to each, write whether it was a choice for life or death. Let this reveal patterns you need to break.
    3. The Covenant Renewal: Stand before the Lord and publicly (or privately) declare: “I choose life. I choose blessing. I choose to be on the Lord’s side. For my sake and for my lineage, I will obey God all my days.” Write it down, sign it, and keep it as a covenant reminder.

“I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live.” (Deuteronomy 30:19)
Every decision is a seed. Every action is a choice. There are no neutral moments. For your sake and for generations yet unborn, choose life. Choose blessing. Stay on the Lord’s side. Your descendants will rise up and call you blessed.

    TOPIC: LORD OVER TIME

    MEMORISE:

Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
    John 11:25

    READ: John 2:1-11

And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there:
2 And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage.
3 And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine.
4 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come.
5 His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.

6 And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece.
7 Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.
8 And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it.
9 When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom,

10 And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now.
11 This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 22 JUNE 2026 TODAY MESSAGE

The Almighty God is truly powerful. He is Lord over all, and He is so powerful that He can bring the future into the present.

In today’s Bible reading, Jesus, His mother, and His disciples attended a wedding. In the course of the celebration, His mother learnt that the hosts had run out of wine and she informed Jesus who responded by saying, “My time has not yet come.”

Notwithstanding, Jesus instructed the servants at the wedding to fill six waterpots with water and then draw out some of it for the governor of the ceremony. As they did so, the water miraculously turned into wine. Jesus simply reached into the future and changed the time from ‘not yet’ to ‘now.

I pray that if there is anything you are trusting God for that seems to have been delayed, it will come into manifestation now, in Jesus’ name.

In John 11:1-17, Lazarus died and had been buried for four days before Jesus arrived on the scene.

Naturally, his case was a hopeless one because a four-day-old corpse would have started decomposing already. However, when Jesus arrived at Lazarus’ home, He told Martha, his sister, that her brother would rise again.

If Jesus had arrived on the day Lazarus died, Martha might have had a glimmer of hope that Jesus could raise her brother from the dead. However, he had been dead for four days, and she said, “Lord, by this time he stinketh…” (John 11:39).

Even though Jesus had not yet died and resurrected, He reached into the future to become the Resurrection and the Life for Lazarus’ sake (John 11:25). He took on an identity that was reserved for after his death and resurrection and called Lazarus out of the grave.

Beloved, we serve a God who is not bound by time. He created time itself and is Lord over it. This is why you should not despair when it seems like you have lost some opportunities, or when you are in a terrible situation that seems to be beyond redemption. When you are faced with such circumstances, all God requires you to do is have faith in Him, and as Jesus said in John 11:40″.. thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God…”

I pray today that if there is any situation in your life that has been judged to be dead and stinking, such a situation will experience the Resurrection and the Life, in Jesus’ name.

    KEY POINT

God is the master of time, and He can turn it whichever way He pleases.

    BIBLE IN ONE YEAR

    Psalms 95-103

Open Heavens HYMN 8: I Need Thee Every Hour

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 22 JUNE 2026 COMMENTARY

    MEMORISE: John 11:25

“Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.”

This verse is one of the most profound declarations of Jesus’ divine identity. Daddy Adeboye anchors today’s devotional on this text because it reveals that Jesus is not merely someone who performs resurrections—He is the Resurrection itself. He is not just a source of life—He is the Life. When Jesus stood before the tomb of Lazarus, He did not pray to the Father to resurrect him. He spoke as the Resurrection: “Lazarus, come forth.” This means that no situation is too dead, too hopeless, or too far gone for Jesus. He does not need favorable conditions, perfect timing, or human cooperation. He is the Resurrection. And He is the Life.

BIBLE READING: John 2:1-11 (The Wedding at Cana)

This passage records Jesus’ first miracle: turning water into wine at a wedding in Cana of Galilee. The hosts ran out of wine—a social disaster of immense proportions. Jesus’ mother informed Him. He responded, “Mine hour is not yet come.” Despite this, He instructed the servants to fill six stone waterpots with water and draw some out for the governor. The water had become wine—and not just any wine, but the finest wine of the feast. Daddy Adeboye uses this miracle to show that Jesus can reach into the future and change “not yet” into “now.” His time had not come for public manifestation, yet He brought the future into the present.

The God Who Brings the Future into the Present

    1. The Wedding at Cana: “My Time Has Not Yet Come”

“In today’s Bible reading, Jesus, His mother, and His disciples attended a wedding. In the course of the celebration, His mother learnt that the hosts had run out of wine and she informed Jesus who responded by saying, ‘My time has not yet come.’”

This is a fascinating detail. Jesus Himself acknowledged that His “time” (the appointed hour for His public miracles and eventual glorification) had not yet arrived. Humanly speaking, the miracle should not have happened yet.

    Human TimelineJesus’ Action
His time had not yet comeHe performed the miracle anyway
Public ministry was just beginningHe manifested His glory early
The “due season” was not fully hereHe brought the future into the present

“Notwithstanding, Jesus instructed the servants at the wedding to fill six waterpots with water and then draw out some of it for the governor of the ceremony. As they did so, the water miraculously turned into wine. Jesus simply reached into the future and changed the time from ‘not yet’ to ‘now.’”

What Jesus DidWhat It Means for You
Reached into the futureHe can accelerate your miracle
Changed “not yet” to “now”He can turn your delay into sudden manifestation
Manifested glory before the appointed timeHe can override natural timelines for your sake

“I pray that if there is anything you are trusting God for that seems to have been delayed, it will come into manifestation now, in Jesus’ name.”

This is the first application: God is not bound by your calendar. What seems overdue, delayed, or impossible by human timing can become now when the Lord of time intervenes.

    2. Lazarus: Four Days Dead, Already Stinking

Daddy Adeboye moves to an even more dramatic example:

*”In John 11:1-17, Lazarus died and had been buried for four days before Jesus arrived on the scene. Naturally, his case was a hopeless one because a four-day-old corpse would have started decomposing already.”*

    Consider the progression of hopelessness:

    DayConditionHuman Assessment
Day 1Lazarus dies“Maybe Jesus can still save him”
Day 2Body begins to cool“Hope is fading”
    Day 3Decomposition begins“Too late”
Day 4“He stinketh” (John 11:39)“Completely hopeless”

“If Jesus had arrived on the day Lazarus died, Martha might have had a glimmer of hope that Jesus could raise her brother from the dead. However, he had been dead for four days, and she said, ‘Lord, by this time he stinketh…’ (John 11:39).”

Martha did not lack faith entirely—she believed Jesus could have prevented Lazarus’s death. But raising a four-day-old, decomposing corpse? That seemed impossible even to her.

Martha’s FaithThe Limit of Her Faith
“If You had been here, my brother would not have died”She believed Jesus could heal the sick
“Even now, whatever You ask of God, God will give You”She did not believe Jesus could raise the dead directly
“I know he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day”She believed in a future resurrection, not an immediate one

“Even though Jesus had not yet died and resurrected, He reached into the future to become the Resurrection and the Life for Lazarus’ sake (John 11:25). He took on an identity that was reserved for after His death and resurrection and called Lazarus out of the grave.”

This is staggering. When Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life,” He was making a claim that would only be fully demonstrated after His own death and resurrection. But for Lazarus’s sake, He reached into that future identity and activated it in the present.

    Future IdentityPresent Manifestation
“I will be the Resurrection after I die and rise”“I am the Resurrection now, for Lazarus”
“I will be the Life at the last day”“I am the Life now, calling Lazarus out”

The God Who Is Not Bound by Time

    1. Time Is His Creation

“Beloved, we serve a God who is not bound by time. He created time itself and is Lord over it.”

Human Relationship to TimeGod’s Relationship to Time
We are inside time, moved by itHe created time; it serves Him
We cannot see the futureHe sees all times equally (past, present, future)
We are limited by seasons and schedulesHe is Lord over all seasons
We age and decayHe is eternal, unchanging

2 Peter 3:8 – “One day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.”

God is not rushing. God is not late. He operates outside the timeline He created. What seems like a four-day delay to Martha was not even a delay to Jesus—it was a setup for a greater miracle.

    2. Do Not Despair Over Lost Time or Hopeless Situations

“This is why you should not despair when it seems like you have lost some opportunities, or when you are in a terrible situation that seems to be beyond redemption.”

    Human ReactionGod’s Response
“It’s too late”“I am the God of the eleventh hour”
“The opportunity has passed”“I restore the years the locusts have eaten” (Joel 2:25)
“This situation is dead and stinking”“I am the Resurrection and the Life”
“There’s no hope”“With God, all things are possible” (Matthew 19:26)

“When you are faced with such circumstances, all God requires you to do is have faith in Him, as Jesus said in John 11:40: ‘…if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God.’”

This is the key. Martha could not see past the stench of death. Jesus said, “Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God?” The condition for seeing God’s glory is not perfect timing, favorable circumstances, or human logic. The condition is faith.

What Faith Does When Time Has Run Out

Based on Daddy Adeboye’s teaching and the two miracles, here is what faith accomplishes:

    1. Faith Brings the Future into the Present

    | At Cana | Faith activated the miracle that seemed premature |
    | At Bethany | Faith activated the resurrection that seemed impossible |

Faith does not wait for “the right time.” Faith agrees with God, who is Lord over time. When you believe, God can take what belongs to your future (healing, provision, breakthrough, restoration) and manifest it now.

    2. Faith Overrides Natural Laws

Water does not turn into wine naturally. Four-day-old corpses do not rise naturally. But faith connects you to the God who created natural laws and can suspend them for His glory. Your situation may be “natural” impossible. Faith says: “My God is supernatural.”

    3. Faith Sees Glory Where Others See Stench

Martha smelled decomposition. Jesus saw an opportunity for glory. Faith does not deny the stench—it acknowledges the problem but looks beyond it to the God who can solve it.

    Without FaithWith Faith
Focus on the problemFocus on the Problem-Solver
    “It stinks”“He is the Resurrection”
“It’s too late”“Now is the time for God’s glory”
    Despair and resignationExpectation and hope

How to Activate Faith for Dead Situations

Based on Daddy Adeboye’s teaching, here is how to position yourself for the miraculous when time seems to have run out:

    1. Refuse to Accept the Finality of the Situation

Do not say, “It’s over.” Do not agree with the doctors, the bankers, the lawyers, or the circumstances when they pronounce your situation dead. God has the final word.

    2. Speak to Your “Lazarus”

Jesus did not pray a long prayer. He spoke directly to the dead: “Lazarus, come forth.” Identify the dead situation in your life. Speak to it in Jesus’ name. Command it to live again.

    3. Roll Away the Stone of Unbelief

Jesus said, “Take ye away the stone” (John 11:39). The stone represented the natural obstacles and the limits of human reasoning. Your stone might be:

    • Past disappointments (“I prayed before and nothing happened”)
    • Intellectual pride (“This doesn’t make scientific sense”)
    • Fear of false hope (“I don’t want to be disappointed again”)

Roll away the stone. Remove the barrier of unbelief. Let God have access to the tomb.

    4. Believe Before You See

Jesus said, “If you believe, you will see the glory of God” (John 11:40). The order is faith first, then sight. Do not wait for evidence. Believe now. The evidence will follow.

    5. Thank God Before the Manifestation

At Cana, the servants drew out water—but they drew it out as if it were wine. They did not wait to see the change before acting. They obeyed in faith. Act on God’s word before you see the result.

Warning: Do Not Let “Stench” Steal Your Faith

Daddy Adeboye’s devotional carries an implicit warning: the longer the delay, the stronger the enemy’s attempt to convince you that hope is lost.

    The Enemy’s LieGod’s Truth
“It’s been too long”“I am not bound by time”
“The situation is decomposing”“I am the Resurrection”
“You missed your opportunity”“I restore lost years”
“Even God cannot fix this”“With God, nothing is impossible”

Martha said, “He stinketh.” She was honest about the situation. But she did not let the stench stop her from believing. She still led Jesus to the tomb. You can acknowledge the problem without surrendering to despair.

The Two Kinds of “Dead” That Jesus Handles

    Type of DeadExampleWhat Jesus Did
Freshly dead (Cana’s wine ran out—social death)Wedding embarrassmentTurned water to wine instantly
Long dead, stinking (Lazarus)Four-day-old corpseCalled him out of the grave

No degree of dead is too dead for Jesus. Fresh loss? He restores. Long-standing failure? He resurrects. Situation that has been dead for years, decades, even generations? He is still the Resurrection and the Life.

Conclusion: Your Prayer for Resurrection Now

Daddy Adeboye closes with a prayer that any situation judged dead and stinking will experience the Resurrection and the Life. Do not accept the verdict of death. Your situation may be four days dead, but Jesus is at the tomb.

    Pray this:

“Lord Jesus, I thank You that You are the Resurrection and the Life. Forgive me for the times I have looked at my dead situations and agreed with the enemy that they are hopeless. Today, I renounce despair. I renounce the belief that it is too late. I speak to every ‘Lazarus’ in my life—every dead dream, dead marriage, dead business, dead health, dead destiny. I say: Come forth! By Your power that reaches into the future and changes ‘not yet’ to ‘now,’ I receive my miracle. The wine that ran out is being restored. The four-day-old corpse is rising. I believe, and therefore I will see the glory of God. Roll away every stone of unbelief. Manifest Your glory in my situation now, in Jesus’ mighty name.”

    Action Steps:

    1. Identify Your “Lazarus”: Write down one situation that has been dead for so long that you (and others) have given up hope. Be specific. Then write next to it: “But Jesus is the Resurrection.”
    2. The 4-Day Testimony: Read John 11 slowly. Notice that Jesus deliberately delayed so that God would get greater glory. Ask: Has God been delaying in my situation so that He can do something only He can take credit for? If yes, thank Him for the coming glory.
    3. Speak to the Dead Situation: Today, out loud, address the dead area of your life. Do not pray “if it be Your will”—He has already revealed His will (John 11:25). Command it to live again in Jesus’ name.

“Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.” (John 11:25)
Time is not God’s master. He is Lord over time. Your “not yet” can become “now.” Your four-day corpse can rise. Believe. Roll away the stone. See the glory of God.

    READ: Ephesians 5:1-5

    Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;
2 And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 21 JUNE 2026 TODAY MESSAGE

Years ago, a pastor prayed and told God that if He gave him ten percent of what I had, he would be satisfied. God told him that if he could do what I do, then he would get what I had. When he asked God about what I had done in the past, God told him that I started with 40 days of fasting. The man told God to leave him as he was because he was not ready to follow that example.

Child of God, to achieve certain results in life, you must follow certain examples as it is only natural to eventually become like those whose lifestyle you emulate. When Elijah was taken up into heaven, Elisha received a double portion of the anointing on Elijah’s life, took Elijah’s mantle, rolled it up, and struck River Jordan. Then, he asked God to part the river as he had parted it for Elijah, and God did so. Elisha followed his father’s example.

Paul told the believers at Corinth to follow him as he followed Christ (1 Corinthians 11:1). The question is, who are you following? Who are you mimicking?

Ephesians 5:1 says that we should be followers of God as dear children. As we follow God, there are also people of God around us whom we can also follow.

Today’s memory verse urges us to follow those who, through faith and patience, inherit the promises.

There are patterns and examples you should follow as a child of God. If someone is truly following Jesus Christ, then you are safe when you follow him or her because such a person will lead you to the Lord. God has provided many great examples in His word and has also given us fathers in the faith to emulate as they follow Christ.

To truly emulate someone, you must study them closely and watch what they are doing. You cannot emulate people just from little clips you see about them on social media, because there are many things about them that you will miss. Read their books, volunteer to work with them, and study how they approach matters.

Beloved, as you emulate your heavenly Father, also become a good and worthy example to others. Follow Christ so that those emulating you will also find Him. I pray that as you emulate your heavenly Father, He will make you a worthy ambassador for Him, in Jesus’ name.

    ACTION POINT:

Today is Father’s Day. Pray that God will help all fathers to be worthy of emulation.

Open Heavens HYMN 59: I WANT TO BE LIKE JESUS

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 21 JUNE 2026 COMMENTARY

    MEMORISE: Hebrews 6:12

“That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.”

This verse establishes the divine principle of spiritual succession. Daddy Adeboye anchors today’s devotional on this text because it warns against spiritual laziness (“slothful”) and commands active following of those who have already walked the path of faith and patience to their promised inheritance. The word “followers” (Greek mimetes) means imitators, mimics, emulators. You cannot inherit the promises by inventing your own path; you inherit by following those who have already received what you seek. Faith and patience are the twin engines of promise-inheritance, and they are best learned by watching those who have mastered them.

    BIBLE READING: Ephesians 5:1-5

“Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour. But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks. For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.”

This passage commands believers to be “followers of God” (imitators of God) as dear children. Children naturally imitate their parents. Daddy Adeboye uses this to show that spiritual imitation is not weakness—it is the design of the kingdom. Just as a child learns to speak, walk, and behave by watching their father, so believers learn to walk in love, purity, and thanksgiving by watching God and those who reflect God. The passage also warns that not everyone is worthy of imitation; those who live in fornication, uncleanness, covetousness, and foolish talk have no inheritance and should not be followed.

The Pastor Who Wanted Ten Percent

    1. The Prayer Request

Daddy Adeboye shares a sobering testimony about a pastor who came to God with a seemingly modest request:

“Years ago, a pastor prayed and told God that if He gave him ten percent of what I had, he would be satisfied.”

This pastor was not asking for extravagance. Ten percent of Daddy Adeboye’s resources—whatever that amount was—seemed sufficient. It was a humble request on the surface.

    2. God’s Response

“God told him that if he could do what I do, then he would get what I had.”

God redirected the pastor’s focus from the result (the wealth) to the process (the lifestyle that produced the result). You cannot have the harvest without the labor. You cannot have the reward without the sacrifice.

    The Pastor’s FocusGod’s Focus
“Give me ten percent of what he has”“Do what he does, and you will have what he has”
The blessing (wealth, resources, success)The lifestyle (fasting, prayer, sacrifice, obedience)
    The outcomeThe process

    3. The Question About the Past

“When he asked God about what I had done in the past, God told him that I started with 40 days of fasting. The man told God to leave him as he was because he was not ready to follow that example.”

This is the tragic turning point. The pastor wanted the reward but was unwilling to pay the price. He asked about the past sacrifices that had built the foundation, and when he heard “40 days of fasting,” he withdrew his request.

    The Pastor’s ResponseWhat It Revealed
“Leave me as I was”He was not willing to pay the price for the blessing
“I am not ready to follow that example”He wanted the result without the process
He remained where he wasHe forfeited the ten percent he could have had

“Child of God, to achieve certain results in life, you must follow certain examples as it is only natural to eventually become like those whose lifestyle you emulate.”

This is the law of spiritual imitation: you become like those you follow. If you follow lazy people, you become lazy. If you follow prayerful people, you become prayerful. If you follow those who fast, sacrifice, and obey, you will eventually inherit what they have inherited.

Elisha’s Example: Following Elijah to a Double Portion

    1. The Pattern of Imitation

“When Elijah was taken up into heaven, Elisha received a double portion of the anointing on Elijah’s life, took Elijah’s mantle, rolled it up, and struck River Jordan. Then, he asked God to part the river as he had parted it for Elijah, and God did so. Elisha followed his father’s example.”

    Consider Elisha’s journey of imitation:

    StageElisha’s ActionWhat He Was Following
1Left his oxen and farmCalled by Elijah, left everything
2Refused to stay behind when Elijah tried to leave him“As the LORD liveth… I will not leave thee”
    3Witnessed Elijah’s miraclesWatched, learned, served
4Asked for a double portionNot entitlement—he had served and watched
5Took Elijah’s mantleReceived the external symbol of the anointing
6Struck the JordanImitated Elijah’s exact action
7Asked God to part the riverUsed the same faith, same words, same God

    “Elisha followed his father’s example.”

Elisha did not invent a new method. He did not say, “I will find my own way.” He watched Elijah, served Elijah, stayed with Elijah, and then did what Elijah did. The result? The same God who parted the Jordan for Elijah parted it for Elisha.

    2. The Question: Who Are You Following?

“Paul told the believers at Corinth to follow him as he followed Christ (1 Corinthians 11:1). The question is, who are you following? Who are you mimicking?”

    Possible MentorsResult of Following Them
    Christ (directly)You become like Christ
A godly leader who follows ChristYou are led to Christ
    Worldly celebritiesYou become worldly
    Lazy ChristiansYou become spiritually lazy
Prayer warriorsYou become a prayer warrior
Those who fast and sacrificeYou inherit what they have inherited

Paul was confident enough to say, “Follow me.” Not because he was perfect, but because he was following Christ. He knew that anyone who imitated him would end up at Jesus.

The Call to Be Followers of God (Ephesians 5:1)

“Ephesians 5:1 says that we should be followers of God as dear children.”

    1. Children Imitate Their Father

    A Child…A Believer…
Watches the father constantlyWatches God in Scripture, prayer, and the Spirit
Copies the father’s words and actionsCopies God’s character—love, holiness, forgiveness
Learns by doing what the father doesLearns by obeying God’s commands
Becomes like the father over timeBecomes like God over time (sanctification)

“As we follow God, there are also people of God around us whom we can also follow.”

Godly leaders are not substitutes for God—they are signposts pointing to God. They show you what it looks like to follow God in practical, daily life.

    2. Follow Those Who Inherit Promises (Hebrews 6:12)

“Today’s memory verse urges us to follow those who, through faith and patience, inherit the promises.”

The Two Qualities to Look ForWhy They Matter
FaithThey trust God when circumstances say otherwise
PatienceThey wait on God’s timing without giving up

If someone has inherited promises from God, they have something to teach you. They have walked the path of faith (believing when it was hard) and patience (waiting when it was long). Follow them. Watch them. Learn from them.

    How to Truly Emulate Someone

Daddy Adeboye gives practical instructions on what genuine imitation looks like:

    1. Study Them Closely

“To truly emulate someone, you must study them closely and watch what they are doing.”

    Superficial ImitationGenuine Imitation
Watch clips on social mediaStudy their daily habits
Know their public personaUnderstand their private disciplines
See their highlightsLearn from their struggles
    Imitate their styleImitate their substance

“You cannot emulate people just from little clips you see about them on social media, because there are many things about them that you will miss.”

Social media shows the highlight reel, not the training room. It shows the miracle, not the midnight prayer. It shows the harvest, not the 40 days of fasting. If you want to emulate someone, you must go deeper than their public content.

    2. Read Their Books

Daddy Adeboye himself has written extensively. Books capture the teachings, principles, and testimonies that cannot be condensed into a two-minute video. Read the books of those you want to emulate.

    3. Volunteer to Work with Them

    “Volunteer to work with them…”

There is no substitute for proximity. Work alongside those you want to become like. Serve in their ministry. Ask to help with their projects. Watch how they handle pressure, disappointment, success, and failure.

    4. Study How They Approach Matters

    “Study how they approach matters.”

Not just what they do, but how they do it. How do they pray before a decision? How do they treat people who cannot help them? How do they respond to criticism? How do they handle wealth or lack? These are the subtle patterns that shape a life.

    Become an Example for Others

“Beloved, as you emulate your heavenly Father, also become a good and worthy example to others.”

You Are Following…You Are Also Being Followed
    GodSomeone is watching you
Christlike leadersSomeone is mimicking your habits
Those who inherit promisesSomeone hopes to inherit through your example

“Follow Christ so that those emulating you will also find Him.”

This is the ultimate goal of spiritual imitation: a chain of discipleship leading to Christ. Paul followed Christ, and he told others to follow him. Those others would then become examples for the next generation. The chain continues.

    GenerationRole
    ChristThe ultimate Example
Paul“Follow me as I follow Christ”
Timothy“Be an example to believers” (1 Timothy 4:12)
Faithful men“Commit to faithful men who shall teach others” (2 Timothy 2:2)

Where are you in this chain? Are you following someone? Are you being someone worth following?

Warning: Do Not Follow the Wrong Examples

Daddy Adeboye’s devotional carries an implicit warning from the Ephesians 5 passage: not everyone is worthy of imitation.

    Do Not Follow Those Who…Because…
Live in fornicationThey have no inheritance in God’s kingdom
Practice uncleannessThey are not following God
Are covetous (idolaters)Their god is money, not the Lord
Speak filthiness, foolish talk, or jestingTheir words do not reflect God’s character

“If someone is truly following Jesus Christ, then you are safe when you follow him or her because such a person will lead you to the Lord.”

But if someone is not truly following Christ—no matter how popular, wealthy, or influential they are—following them will lead you away from God, not toward Him.

    Practical Steps for Godly Imitation

Based on Daddy Adeboye’s teaching, here is how to choose and follow the right examples:

    1. Identify Someone Who Has What You Want Spiritually: Not material wealth only, but spiritual depth, prayer life, fruitfulness, peace, joy, or anointing. Ask: Who has inherited promises I want to inherit?
    2. Study Their Life Thoroughly: Read their books, listen to their full messages (not clips), attend their meetings if possible. Learn their private disciplines, not just their public successes.
    3. Ask About Their Past Sacrifices: The pastor in the testimony asked, “What did he do in the past?” That is the right question. Find out what fasting, prayer, obedience, and sacrifices built the foundation you see today.
    4. Be Willing to Pay the Price: When you hear the answer (40 days of fasting, years of waiting, costly obedience), do not say, “Leave me as I am.” Say, “Lord, give me grace to follow this example.”
    5. Become Worth Following: As you grow, intentionally live in a way that others can safely imitate. Do not be a stumbling block. Be an example in faith, patience, love, purity, and obedience.

Conclusion: Your Prayer for Worthy Examples

Daddy Adeboye closes with a prayer that as you emulate your heavenly Father, He will make you a worthy ambassador. You need examples to follow. And you need to become an example for others.

    Pray this:

“Father, I thank You for the examples You have placed in Your word and in the body of Christ. Forgive me for the times I have wanted the results without the process—the blessing without the sacrifice, the harvest without the labor. Lead me to those who, through faith and patience, have inherited promises. Give me the grace to study them closely, to learn from their lives, and to follow their example as they follow Christ. And Lord, make me an example worth following. Let my life lead others to You, not away from You. I am willing to pay the price. I will not say ‘Leave me as I am.’ I will follow. I will learn. I will become like those who have gone before me in faith. In Jesus’ mighty name.”

    Action Steps:

    1. The Example Audit: Identify three people (living or biblical) who have what you want spiritually. Write their names. Then write down specific things they did to get there (fasting, prayer, obedience, patience, giving). Commit to imitating one of those practices this month.
    2. The Deeper Study Commitment: Choose one godly leader you admire. Instead of just watching clips, read one of their books or listen to three full messages this week. Take notes on their habits, not just their highlights.
    3. The Legacy Question: Ask yourself: If someone followed me exactly as I am today, where would they end up? Would they end up closer to Christ or further away? Let your answer shape your decisions this week.

“That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.” (Hebrews 6:12)
You become like those you follow. Choose wisely. Follow those who follow Christ. Study their lives. Pay the price they paid. And then become an example for the next generation.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 20 JUNE 2026 TODAY MESSAGE

Sometimes, God gives instructions that appear to be very difficult to obey, and because of that, some Christians delay obeying them for long periods. There is, however, little difference, if any, between delaying obedience to God’s instructions and outright disobedience.

When God asked Abraham to offer Isaac to Him as a sacrifice in Genesis 22:1-3, I imagine that he did not discuss the matter with his wife. He probably thought that discussing God’s instruction with Sarah would cause delays, and he wouldn’t be able to carry it out. Even though God instructed him to do something difficult, he must have decided to obey promptly and not ponder over it.

As a result of his obedience, God swore by Himself to bless him and his seed forever (Hebrews 6:13-14). In the same vein, Joseph didn’t linger when an angel told him in a dream to flee to Egypt with Jesus and his mother (Matthew 2:13). If he had lingered, Herod’s soldiers could have caught up with them. Prompt obedience always leads to preservation and attracts God’s blessings.

When God gives you an instruction, He wants you to obey it promptly. Don’t query Him; just obey the instruction. In addition to promptly obeying His instructions, God also wants you to obey Him willingly. In Isaiah 1:12, He said, ‘If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:” Lastly, God expects you to obey Him completely.

Some Christians believe they can selectively choose which of God’s instructions to obey and which to disregard. However, when it comes to following God, there is no such thing as partial obedience; you either go all the way with Him or do not go at all. Saul made this mistake when God instructed him to utterly destroy the Amalekites (1 Samuel 15:1-3). Instead of obeying God’s express command to destroy everyone and everything they owned, he spared the king and the best sheep, oxen, and lambs. Saul’s partial obedience displeased God and led to his rejection (1 Samuel 15:26).

This is because partial obedience equals disobedience in God’s sight. God will never be pleased with less than total obedience. Prompt and wholehearted obedience is always worth more than sacrifices made to Him (1 Samuel 15:22-23).

Beloved, has God given you instructions concerning any matter? Ask Him for the grace to obey them promptly, willingly, and completely. I pray that the Lord will turn every stony, disobedient heart to a heart of obedience, in Jesus’ name.

    PRAYER POINT:

Father, please help me to always obey your instructions willingly, promptly, and wholeheartedly.

    BIBLE IN ONE YEAR

    Psalms 81-88

Open Heavens HYMN 30: WHEN WE WALK WITH THE LORD

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 20 JUNE 2026 COMMENTARY

    MEMORISE: 1 Samuel 15:22

“And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.”

This verse is the divine verdict on the priority of obedience. Daddy Adeboye anchors today’s devotional on this text because it corrects a dangerous assumption: that religious activity, offerings, or sacrifices can compensate for disobedience. Samuel’s question is devastating: Does God delight in your sacrifices as much as He delights in your simple obedience? The answer is no. Obedience is better than sacrifice. You can give millions, sing beautifully, preach powerfully, and serve tirelessly—but if you are disobedient, all of it is worthless in God’s sight. Sacrifice without obedience is not worship; it is bribery attempted on the Creator.

BIBLE READING: Genesis 22:1-3, Matthew 2:13-14

Genesis 22:1-3 – “And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am. And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of. And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went unto the place of which God had told him.”

Matthew 2:13-14 – “And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him. When he arose, he took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt.”

These two passages showcase the crisis of obedience. Abraham was asked to sacrifice his promised son Isaac—the child of the covenant. Joseph was asked to flee his homeland in the middle of the night to protect Jesus from a murderous king. Both commands were difficult, costly, and seemingly disruptive. Both were obeyed promptly. And both resulted in divine preservation and blessing.

    The Danger of Delayed Obedience

    1. Delay Is Disguised Disobedience

“Sometimes, God gives instructions that appear to be very difficult to obey, and because of that, some Christians delay obeying them for long periods. There is, however, little difference, if any, between delaying obedience to God’s instructions and outright disobedience.”

This is a crucial truth. Many Christians comfort themselves by saying, “I haven’t disobeyed; I’m just waiting for the right time.” But Daddy Adeboye warns:

    Delayed ObedienceOutright Disobedience
“I will do it eventually”“I will not do it at all”
Still not done what God saidHas not done what God said
God’s timing is ignoredGod’s command is ignored
Both miss God’s intended momentBoth miss God’s intended moment

The difference is minimal. God’s instructions come with timing. When He says “now,” waiting until “later” is disobedience, even if you eventually do the thing. The blessing is attached not just to the act but to the timing of the act.

    2. Abraham’s Prompt Obedience

*”When God asked Abraham to offer Isaac to Him as a sacrifice in Genesis 22:1-3, I imagine that he did not discuss the matter with his wife. He probably thought that discussing God’s instruction with Sarah would cause delays, and he wouldn’t be able to carry it out.”*

    Notice Abraham’s speed:

    Abraham’s ActionsTimeframe
    God spokeThe very next morning
    Rose up earlyBefore dawn
    Saddled his donkeyImmediately
    Took Isaac and woodWithout hesitation
    Went to the placeWithout debate

“Even though God instructed him to do something difficult, he must have decided to obey promptly and not ponder over it.”

    Abraham did not:

    • Argue with God (“But this is my only son!”)
    • Consult with Sarah (“Let me get a second opinion”)
    • Delay to see if circumstances changed (“Maybe God will change His mind”)
    • Negotiate for an alternative (“Can I offer a ram instead?”)

    He simply obeyed. Promptly. Completely.

*”As a result of his obedience, God swore by Himself to bless him and his seed forever (Hebrews 6:13-14).”*

Hebrews 6:13-14 – “For when God made promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he sware by himself, Saying, Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee.”

God did not swear to bless Abraham because of his sacrifices or his prayers. He swore because of his obedience. Prompt obedience unlocks oaths of blessing from heaven.

Joseph’s Night Flight: The Cost of Lingering

    1. The Angel’s Warning (Matthew 2:13)

“In the same vein, Joseph didn’t linger when an angel told him in a dream to flee to Egypt with Jesus and his mother (Matthew 2:13). If he had lingered, Herod’s soldiers could have caught up with them.”

    Consider the command:

    • Leave immediately
    • Take the child and mother
    • Flee to Egypt
    • Stay there until further notice
    If Joseph Had DelayedThe Consequence
“Let me wait until morning”Herod’s soldiers would have arrived by dawn
“Let me pack properly first”Every hour increased the risk of discovery
“Let me tell my neighbors goodbye”The Messiah could have been killed
“Let me pray about it more”Delay would have cost Jesus’ life

“Prompt obedience always leads to preservation and attracts God’s blessings.”

Joseph obeyed by night. He did not wait for daylight, favorable weather, or emotional readiness. He heard, rose, and left. That is prompt obedience.

    2. The Principle of Preservation

    CharacterCommandResult of Prompt Obedience
    AbrahamSacrifice IsaacIsaac preserved, covenant established
JosephFlee to EgyptJesus preserved, Herod’s plot failed
NoahBuild the arkFamily preserved from the flood
PeterCome to Me on waterWalked on water until faith wavered

    Delayed obedience would have meant:

    • Abraham sacrificing Isaac but missing the ram in the thicket
    • Joseph lingering and Herod finding Jesus
    • Noah finishing the ark after the flood started
    • Peter sinking before he even stepped out

The Three Characteristics of Acceptable Obedience

Daddy Adeboye identifies three qualities of obedience that please God:

    1. Prompt Obedience

“When God gives you an instruction, He wants you to obey it promptly. Don’t query Him; just obey the instruction.”

    Rather Than…Do This…
“Why me, Lord?”“Here I am, Lord”
“Can I wait until…”“I will obey now”
“What if something goes wrong?”“Trusting You with the outcome”
“Let me pray about it more”“Praying while I obey”

“Don’t query Him; just obey the instruction.”

This is difficult for analytical minds. We want to understand, to rationalize, to evaluate. But God’s instructions do not always come with explanations. Sometimes He says, “Go” without telling you where. “Give” without telling you why. “Stop” without telling you the danger. Your job is not to understand; your job is to obey.

    2. Willing Obedience

“In addition to promptly obeying His instructions, God also wants you to obey Him willingly.”

Isaiah 1:19 – “If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land.”

    Willing ObedienceReluctant Obedience
“I want to obey You, Lord”“I guess I have to obey”
    Joyful, cheerful, eagerGrumbling, complaining, resentful
Opens the door to God’s bestMisses the “good of the land”
Done from loveDone from fear or obligation

God does not want robotic compliance. He wants children who are willing—whose hearts align with His commands, who obey not just with their hands but with their attitudes.

    3. Complete Obedience

“Lastly, God expects you to obey Him completely.”

    Partial ObedienceComplete Obedience
Does half of what God saidDoes all of what God said
Keeps the convenient commandsObeys even the inconvenient ones
Stops when it becomes costlyPresses through to the end
Spares the “king” and the “best sheep”Destroys everything God commands

“Some Christians believe they can selectively choose which of God’s instructions to obey and which to disregard. However, when it comes to following God, there is no such thing as partial obedience; you either go all the way with Him or do not go at all.”

This is a hard truth. You cannot obey God in tithing while disobeying Him in forgiveness. You cannot worship on Sunday while cheating on Monday. You cannot pray for revival while living in secret sin. God wants all of you, not just the convenient parts.

The Warning of King Saul: Partial Obedience = Disobedience

Daddy Adeboye uses Saul as the ultimate warning:

    1. The Command (1 Samuel 15:1-3)

    God commanded Saul:

    • Go and attack the Amalekites
    • Utterly destroy everything: men, women, children, infants, cattle, sheep, camels, donkeys
    • Spare nothing

    Clear. Specific. Total.

    2. The Disobedience (1 Samuel 15:9)

“Instead of obeying God’s express command to destroy everyone and everything they owned, he spared the king and the best sheep, oxen, and lambs.”

    What God SaidWhat Saul Did
Destroy everythingDestroyed worthless things, kept the best
    Kill the kingSpared King Agag
No exceptionsMade exceptions for “good” animals

Saul’s rationalization: “I kept the best to sacrifice to the Lord.”

    3. The Rejection (1 Samuel 15:26)

“Saul’s partial obedience displeased God and led to his rejection. This is because partial obedience equals disobedience in God’s sight.”

    Saul’s ArgumentGod’s Verdict
“I did most of what You said”“You did not do all I said”
“I kept the animals for sacrifice”“Obedience is better than sacrifice”
“Surely God will understand”“God rejects you as king”

“God will never be pleased with less than total obedience.”

This is the final, sobering truth. You can do 90% of what God says and still be 100% disobedient if the 10% you omitted was part of His command. God does not grade on a curve. He does not accept partial credit. He wants total obedience.

How to Obey Promptly, Willingly, and Completely (Practical Steps)

Based on Daddy Adeboye’s teaching, here is how to cultivate a heart of obedience:

    1. Stop Negotiating with God

    Instead of…Say…
“But Lord, that doesn’t make sense”“I trust You, Lord. I will obey.”
“Can we talk about this?”“Speak, Lord, Your servant is listening.”
“Let me wait for confirmation”“I have heard You. I will act now.”

    2. Obey Before You Understand

Abraham did not understand why God would command the sacrifice of Isaac. Joseph did not understand why God would send the Messiah to Egypt. They obeyed anyway. Understanding often comes after obedience, not before.

    3. Check Your Attitude

Are you obeying grudgingly or cheerfully? If your obedience is willing, you will not complain about the cost. If you are reluctant, ask God to change your heart before you change your actions.

    4. Don’t Spare the “King” or the “Best Sheep”

Identify what you are holding back from God:

    • The one sin you will not surrender
    • The one relationship you will not release
    • The one possession you will not give
    • The one comfort you will not sacrifice

That is your “King Agag.” That is your “best sheep.” Kill it. Do not spare it for sacrifice.

    5. Ask for Grace to Obey

“Ask Him for the grace to obey them promptly, willingly, and completely.”

Obedience is not accomplished by willpower alone. It requires grace. Pray daily: “Lord, give me the grace to obey You today—promptly, willingly, and completely.”

Warning: Partial Obedience Is a Trap

Daddy Adeboye’s devotional carries an urgent warning: many Christians are living in the deception of partial obedience.

    They Obey in…But Disobey in…
    Church attendanceSecret sin
    TithingForgiveness
    PrayerTreatment of family
    Bible readingIntegrity in business
    WorshipObedience to specific instructions

Partial obedience feels safe. It keeps you in the church while allowing you to keep your pet sins. But God sees the spared king. He sees the best sheep you kept for yourself. And His verdict is the same as with Saul: disobedience.

Conclusion: Your Prayer for a Heart of Obedience

Daddy Adeboye closes with a prayer that the Lord will turn every stony, disobedient heart to a heart of obedience. Do not let your heart be stony. Do not delay. Do not negotiate. Do not spare. Obey now.

    Pray this:

“Lord Jesus, I confess that I have delayed obedience. I have told myself that waiting is not the same as disobeying. I have negotiated with You, questioned You, and rationalized my partial obedience. Forgive me. Today, I repent of every delayed, reluctant, and partial obedience. I ask for the grace to obey You promptly—immediately, without delay. I ask for the grace to obey You willingly—joyfully, without grumbling. I ask for the grace to obey You completely—holding nothing back, sparing nothing that You have commanded to be destroyed. I do not want to be a Saul, rejected because I kept the best for myself. I want to be an Abraham, who rose early and obeyed. I want to be a Joseph, who fled by night without lingering. Turn my stony heart into a heart of obedience. In Jesus’ mighty name.”

    Action Steps:

    1. The Obedience Audit: Write down any instruction from God that you have delayed obeying. Put a date next to it: when did He speak? How long have you delayed? Then commit to obeying that instruction within 24 hours.
    2. The “King Agag” Identification: Ask the Holy Spirit: What am I sparing? What “best sheep” am I keeping for myself while pretending to obey You in other areas? Identify it. Kill it. Do not bring it as a sacrifice.
    3. The 24-Hour Prompt Obedience Challenge: For the next 24 hours, commit to obeying God instantly on every instruction—no matter how small. If He says “call that person,” call immediately. If He says “give that amount,” give immediately. Watch how your spiritual life transforms.

“Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice.” (1 Samuel 15:22)
Delay is disguised disobedience. Partial obedience is full disobedience. Obey promptly. Obey willingly. Obey completely. Do not spare the king. Do not keep the best sheep. Obey now.

20 The Lord was ready to save me: therefore we will sing my songs to the stringed instruments all the days of our life in the house of the Lord.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 19 JUNE 2026 TODAY MESSAGE

Years ago, one of my daughters was diagnosed with cancer of the larynx, and the doctors told her that the only solution was to surgically remove her larynx (which is also known as the voice box). After the surgery, my wife and I visited her to pray and assure her that with God, all things are possible.

Owing to the fact that her voice box had been removed, she couldn’t speak, and the only way she could communicate was by texting. One day, I returned home from a trip, and as I got out of my car, I saw somebody rolling on the ground. It turned out to be my daughter, whose larynx had been removed and when she saw me, she said, “It’s me, Daddy; I can speak again.” I was genuinely grateful to God for restoring her voice and allowing her to sing praises to Him again.

Beloved, God gave you a voice so you could use it to praise Him. As long as you are alive, you should use your voice to praise Him continually. God deserves all your praise, and it is one sure way to get answers to your prayers.

During Hezekiah’s reign, he appointed priests and Levites to minister to the Lord. Their job was to offer praise continually at the gates of the tents of the Lord, and the first thing anybody coming to the tents would see was the priests and Levites praising God (2 Chronicles 31:2).

After a while, disaster struck, and King Hezekiah fell ill. He was so ill that God sent Prophet Isaiah to tell him that he would die. The king was devastated by the news, so he turned his face to a wall and cried out to God. He reminded God that he had walked before Him in truth and done things that were good in His sight. God heard his prayer and sent Isaiah to tell him that he would not die (Isaiah 38:1-8).

The king knew how much God loves praise; therefore, he told God that the grave could not praise him and only the living could, as we see in today’s Bible reading. Praise is always good and comely before God (Psalm 147:1).

Beloved, no matter what your circumstances are, you should praise God continually as long as you are alive. When you praise God, you are also destroying the enemy’s plans and silencing the avenger (Psalm 149:67). Let praise be your response to everything.

    KEY POINT

Your voice exists primarily to sing praises to God.

Open Heavens HYMN 18: PRAISE TO THE LORD THE ALMIGHTY

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 19 JUNE 2026 COMMENTARY

    MEMORISE: Psalm 147:1

“Praise ye the LORD: for it is good to sing praises unto our God; for it is pleasant; and praise is comely.”

This verse is a triple declaration of the nature of praise. Daddy Adeboye anchors today’s devotional on this text because it reveals that praise is not merely a command or a duty—it is goodpleasant, and comely (becoming, appropriate, beautiful). Praise is good for you (it lifts your spirit). Praise is pleasant to God (He delights in it). Praise is comely for believers (it fits us; it is our natural posture). The question is not whether you have reasons to praise—you are alive, and that is reason enough. The question is whether you will use the voice God gave you for its intended purpose.

    BIBLE READING: Isaiah 38:18-20

“For the grave cannot praise thee, death cannot celebrate thee: they that go down into the pit cannot hope for thy truth. The living, the living, he shall praise thee, as I do this day: the father to the children shall make known thy truth. The LORD was ready to save me: therefore we will sing my songs to the stringed instruments all the days of our life in the house of the LORD.”

These are the words of King Hezekiah after God healed him from a terminal illness. Daddy Adeboye draws from this passage a profound truth: the dead do not praise God. Only the living can lift their voices in worship. Therefore, as long as you have breath, you have a responsibility and a privilege to praise. Hezekiah understood that his healing was not just for his own comfort—it was so that he could continue to declare God’s praise and pass the knowledge of God to the next generation.

Daddy Adeboye’s Testimony: The Daughter Who Could Not Speak

    1. The Diagnosis and Surgery

Daddy Adeboye shares a deeply personal and moving testimony:

“Years ago, one of my daughters was diagnosed with cancer of the larynx, and the doctors told her that the only solution was to surgically remove her larynx (which is also known as the voice box).”

This was not a minor illness. The larynx is essential for speaking, singing, and expressing praise. The surgery would rob her of her voice entirely.

“After the surgery, my wife and I visited her to pray and assure her that with God, all things are possible.”

Even after the surgery—even after the voice box was gone—they prayed in faith. They did not accept the doctors’ verdict as final. They believed that the God who created the voice box could restore it.

    2. The Silent Period

“Owing to the fact that her voice box had been removed, she couldn’t speak, and the only way she could communicate was by texting.”

Imagine the silence. A daughter who cannot say “Daddy.” A woman who cannot sing, cannot pray aloud, cannot praise. The very instrument God gave her for worship had been silenced.

    3. The Miracle

“One day, I returned home from a trip, and as I got out of my car, I saw somebody rolling on the ground. It turned out to be my daughter, whose larynx had been removed and when she saw me, she said, ‘It’s me, Daddy; I can speak again.’”

This is breathtaking. The daughter who could not speak was now rolling on the ground—not in pain, but in overwhelming joy. And she spoke: “It’s me, Daddy; I can speak again.”

“I was genuinely grateful to God for restoring her voice and allowing her to sing praises to Him again.”

    Before the MiracleAfter the Miracle
Voice box removed, unable to speakComplete restoration of speech
Communication only by textingVerbal communication restored
Unable to sing praisesVoice restored for praise

The lesson is clear: God values praise so much that He will restore the instruments needed to offer it.

The Purpose of Your Voice: Praise

    1. You Were Given a Voice for Worship

“Beloved, God gave you a voice so you could use it to praise Him. As long as you are alive, you should use your voice to praise Him continually.”

    Uses of the VoicePrimary Purpose
    SpeakingCommunication
    SingingExpression
    PrayingPetition and intercession
PraisingThe highest use—ascribing worth to God

Your voice is not primarily for gossip, complaint, flattery, or empty conversation. Your voice is a gift from God to be returned to Him in praise. Every time you use your voice to praise God, you are fulfilling your design.

“God deserves all your praise, and it is one sure way to get answers to your prayers.”

This is not manipulation—praise to get answers. It is alignment. When you praise, you enter God’s presence (Psalm 100:4). In His presence, problems shrink, faith rises, and answers manifest.

    2. Praise Is Not Optional; It Is Continual

“As long as you are alive, you should use your voice to praise Him continually.”

    How Often?Scriptural Mandate
Continually“I will bless the LORD at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth” (Psalm 34:1)
Seven times a day“Seven times a day do I praise thee” (Psalm 119:164)
All day long“My tongue also shall talk of thy righteousness all the day long” (Psalm 71:24)
While I have breath“While I live will I praise the LORD” (Psalm 146:2)

Not occasionally. Not only on Sundays. Not only when you feel like it. Continually. As long as you are breathing, you have something to praise God for.

The Priestly Ministry of Praise (2 Chronicles 31:2)

Daddy Adeboye highlights a powerful Old Testament practice:

“During Hezekiah’s reign, he appointed priests and Levites to minister to the Lord. Their job was to offer praise continually at the gates of the tents of the Lord, and the first thing anybody coming to the tents would see was the priests and Levites praising God (2 Chronicles 31:2).”

    The PracticeThe Principle
Priests appointed specifically for praisePraise is a specialized ministry, not an afterthought
Praise offered continuallyPraise is not a once-a-week event
Praise at the gatesPraise is the entry point to God’s presence
The first thing visitors sawPraise should be the first response to God, not the last resort

Before anyone entered the tent of meeting, they heard praise. Before any sacrifice was offered, praise ascended. Before any request was made, worship was already rising. This is the model for your life: let praise be the first thing on your lips in the morning and the last thing before you sleep.

Hezekiah’s Argument: The Living Praise God

    1. The King’s Illness and Prayer

    Daddy Adeboye recounts Hezekiah’s crisis:

“After a while, disaster struck, and King Hezekiah fell ill. He was so ill that God sent Prophet Isaiah to tell him that he would die. The king was devastated by the news, so he turned his face to a wall and cried out to God.”

Isaiah 38:1-8 – God sent Isaiah with a death sentence: “Set thine house in order: for thou shalt die, and not live.” Hezekiah prayed desperately, reminding God of his faithful walk. God heard him and added fifteen years to his life.

    2. The Theology of Praise in Hezekiah’s Prayer (Isaiah 38:18-20)

Daddy Adeboye focuses on Hezekiah’s argument:

“The king knew how much God loves praise; therefore, he told God that the grave could not praise him and only the living could, as we see in today’s Bible reading.”*

    Hezekiah’s ArgumentSpiritual Implication
“The grave cannot praise Thee”If I die, You lose a worshipper
“Death cannot celebrate Thee”The dead cannot sing Your praises
“Those who go down to the pit cannot hope for Thy truth”Without life, there is no testimony
“The living, the living, he shall praise Thee”My continued life means continued praise

Hezekiah was not bargaining with God. He was appealing to God’s love for praise. God delights in the praise of the living. Therefore, God was inclined to preserve Hezekiah’s life so that praise would continue.

“Praise is always good and comely before God (Psalm 147:1).”

    Praise as Spiritual Warfare

Daddy Adeboye adds a powerful dimension:

*”When you praise God, you are also destroying the enemy’s plans and silencing the avenger (Psalm 149:6-7).”*

Psalm 149:6-7 – “Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a two-edged sword in their hand; To execute vengeance upon the heathen, and punishments upon the people.”

    WeaponEffect
High praises in your mouthA two-edged sword against the enemy
    PraiseDestroys Satan’s plans
    WorshipSilences the accuser

Paul and Silas praised God at midnight in a Philippian prison (Acts 16:25-26). The result? Earthquake, chains broken, doors opened, jailer saved. Praise is not passive; praise is aggressive warfare. When you praise, you are not ignoring your problems; you are attacking the spiritual forces behind them.

How to Make Praise Your Lifestyle (Practical Steps)

Based on Daddy Adeboye’s teaching and Scripture, here is how to cultivate a life of continual praise:

    1. Let Praise Be Your First Response

    SituationInstead of…Respond with Praise
Bad newsPanic, fear, anxiety“Lord, I praise You because You are still on the throne”
Financial crisisWorry, complaint“Father, I praise You for past provision and future faithfulness”
Health issuesDespair, self-pity“God, I praise You because You are my Healer”
BetrayalAnger, bitterness“Lord, I praise You for Your faithfulness when man fails”

“Let praise be your response to everything.”

    2. Use Your Voice Deliberately for Praise

    Practical ActionHow to Do It
Morning praiseBefore you speak to anyone, speak praise to God
Driving praiseUse commute time to sing worship songs
Meal praiseThank God audibly before eating, even in restaurants
Bedtime praiseEnd your day by recounting God’s goodness aloud
Crisis praiseWhen you feel fear rising, sing. When you feel anger rising, worship.

    3. Remember That Silence Is Not Neutral

    “The grave cannot praise thee.”

If You Are Silent…The Enemy’s Interpretation
You do not praise GodYou are ungrateful, or afraid, or ashamed
You complain instead of praiseYou agree with the enemy’s lies about God’s character
You remain silent in crisisYour weapon is unraised; the enemy advances

Do not let the enemy silence your praise. If you cannot sing, whisper. If you cannot whisper, think praise. But let praise rise from you continually.

    4. Join Corporate Praise

Hezekiah appointed priests for continual praise in the temple. You also need corporate worship:

    • Attend church services with a heart ready to praise, not just to listen
    • Join prayer meetings where praise is central
    • Sing worship songs at home, in your car, with your family

Warning: Do Not Wait for Perfect Circumstances to Praise

Daddy Adeboye’s devotional carries an urgent warning: do not wait until your problem is solved to praise God.

If You Wait to Praise Until…You Will Miss
The money comesThe miracle that praise could have released
The sickness leavesThe healing that worship could have activated
The relationship healsThe breakthrough that praise could have unlocked
You feel like itCountless opportunities to destroy enemy plans

Praise is not a response to the miracle; it is the trigger for the miracle. Praise is not the celebration after the victory; it is the weapon that wins the victory.

The Blessings of a Praising Life

Based on Scripture and Daddy Adeboye’s teaching, here is what praise produces:

    BlessingScriptural Basis
God’s presence“Thou art holy, inhabiting the praises of Israel” (Psalm 22:3)
Victory over enemiesJehoshaphat’s singers won the battle (2 Chronicles 20:21-22)
Prison doors openedPaul and Silas praised at midnight (Acts 16:25-26)
Answers to prayer“Enter into his gates with thanksgiving” (Psalm 100:4)
Healing and restorationDaddy Adeboye’s daughter received her voice back
Joy unspeakable“The joy of the LORD is your strength” (Nehemiah 8:10)

Conclusion: Your Prayer for a Voice of Praise

Daddy Adeboye closes with the call to let praise be your response to everything. Do not wait for a better situation. Do not wait until you feel like it. Praise now.

    Pray this:

“Lord Jesus, I thank You for the gift of my voice. Forgive me for the times I have used it for complaint, gossip, or silence when I should have used it for praise. Forgive me for waiting until circumstances are perfect before I worship. Today, I choose to praise You continually. As long as I have breath, I will lift my voice to declare Your goodness. I praise You for who You are—not just for what You do. I praise You in advance for the miracles coming. I praise You amidst the struggles. I praise You when I don’t understand. Let praise be my first response, my continual posture, and my final word. By praise, I destroy the enemy’s plans. By praise, I silence the accuser. By praise, I enter Your presence. Accept my praise, O Lord, for it is good, pleasant, and comely. In Jesus’ mighty name.”

    Action Steps:

    1. The Voice Audit: For one day, pay attention to everything that comes out of your mouth. Count how many words are complaint, criticism, gossip, or negativity. Count how many are praise, thanksgiving, and encouragement. Let the numbers challenge you.
    2. The “Praise Before Petition” Challenge: For the next seven days, every time you pray, begin with five full minutes of praise before you ask for anything. Watch how your faith rises and how answers come.
    3. The Silence Breaker: Identify one area where you have been silent about God’s goodness (a family member who has not heard your testimony, a social media space where you could praise publicly). Break that silence this week. Let your voice be heard.

“Praise ye the LORD: for it is good to sing praises unto our God; for it is pleasant; and praise is comely.” (Psalm 147:1)
You have breath. You have a voice. Use it for praise. Not occasionally. Not only when you win. Continually. Praise is your weapon. Praise is your entry. Praise is your destiny. Let praise be your response to everything.
