RCCG SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHERS MANUAL LESSON 10 (8 NOVEMBER 2026)

TOPIC: STEWARDSHIP

OPENING PRAYER:

Father, teach me the ways of a faithful steward in the mighty name of Jesus.

PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE:

The teacher should allow the assistant teacher to review the lesson for the previous week.

BIBLE READING

BIBLE PASSAGE: Titus 1:4-9

4 To Titus, mine own son after the common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour.
5 For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee:
6 If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly.
7 For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;
8 But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate;
9 Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.

MEMORY VERSE:

“Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.” 1 Corinthians 4:2.

LESSON INTRODUCTION:

The dictionary defines stewardship as the responsible and careful management of something entrusted to one’s care. As Christians, God has entrusted so many things in our care, and He expects us to be careful managers of everything in our account (Luke 16:10). Today, some have suddenly become so comfortable that they handle kingdom business carelessly. We must remember that we are not owners, but caretakers of God’s resources (Psalm 24:1).

LESSON OUTLINE 1: THE CHARACTERISTICS

Being a good steward of God’s resources requires certain characteristics and virtues.

  1. Trust: As believers, we must be trustworthy in everything. A person who is trustworthy in little things will be entrusted with greater responsibilities (1 Peter 4:10; Luke 16:10).
  2. Obedience: We must make sure our obedience is complete and timely (John 2:5).
  3. Wisdom: Correct application of knowledge will help avoid wastage (Luke 12:42).
  4. Humility: Humility helps us to focus our hearts on God, seeking His glory alone (John 3:30).
  5. Compassion and Giving: A steward must be generous, be willing to share with those in need and support God’s work (Hebrews 13:16; 1 Peter 3:8).
  6. Diligence: A steward must work hard because laziness leads to unfruitfulness (Proverbs 22:29).

CLASS ACTIVITY 1:

How can believers be faithful in managing God’s resources in their daily lives?

LESSON OUTLINE 2: THE REWARDS

As a faithful steward, you should expect numerous rewards here on earth and in the world to come (Matthew 19:29).

  1. Spiritual Growth and Strength: A steward who is faithful will grow spiritually and bring glory to God (2 Peter 3:18).
  2. Divine Guidance: God promises to personally instruct and lead His children in the right path (Psalm 32:8).
  3. Promotion and Increase: Faithfulness in small responsibilities brings greater opportunities and honour from God (Matthew 25:23).
  4. Answered Prayers: God answers the prayers of those who are faithful, granting them favour and fulfilment (Psalm 91:14-16).
  5. God’s approval and praise: God rewards faithfulness with His approval, commendation and acknowledges diligence. This divine praise leads to greater responsibility and everlasting joy in His presence (Matthew 25:20-21).
  6. Eternal rewards and blessings: Those who remain faithful to Christ, even in trials, will share in His reign and glory. Serving God wholeheartedly guarantees eternal rewards and blessings that surpass earthly gains (2 Timothy 2:12; Colossians 3:23-24).

CLASS ACTIVITY 2:

Faithfulness in small responsibilities leads to greater opportunities and promotion from God. What is the role of trustworthiness in all of these?
